Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

Hi Ladies - sorry I have been out of touch but have been very busy having a baby!

Esther Grace was born Tuesday 9.42am via C-section weighing 10lb 2oz!

I thought my waters had gone Monday evening so went in to be examined only to be told that they hadn't but whilst I was there was given another sweep. Came back home but within an hour was having strong painful contractions every 3-4 mins, so went straight back to hospital. Was examined and was told I was 5cm dialated - ended up having epidural, as I was in so much pain (baby was back to back). Got as far as 9cm dialated but MW was concerned because during my previous labour, my DS got his shoulders stuck and MW thought that this baby was going to be bigger! In the end I had a registrar and consultant in who said it would be too risky to deliver the baby so advised me to have C-section.

Anyway, I have just been discharged this PM so have not had chance to look at previous posts so will catch up with you all later. Hope there has been some more smiley faces added to the list whilst I have been away Smile

Hello everyone :0)

I wanted to just say that i came across your thread and became addicted lol, I have been TTC for a few months now to no avail so thought I would try to cheer myself up by reading beautiful stories on little ones arriving into the world and came across this thread.

Congrats to all the new mothers :0) All the names are so gorgeous x

tweakers · 10/09/2010 23:26

hi alien and welcome! there are some beautiful stories on here but there's also an awful lot of moaning from us to balance it all out! thanks for un-lurking!

it may amuse you all to find out that given that we're now pretty certain DD wasn't actually overdue but that it was a miscalculation with her date from the scan, it means she was conceived in the forest! Grin

and that alien, is free conception advice, especially for you!

alien06 · 11/09/2010 00:39

haha tweakers love it

hopefully I shall be able to join a thread like this soon! I am currently waiting for ERTD whilst having some mega sore boobs! (sorry for TMI!)

x

tweakers · 11/09/2010 03:57

alien... i don't believe we have the expression 'TMI' on this thread! you've read it right? we discuss everything, with a focus on our bowel movements... 'could be a sign things are starting' Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 11/09/2010 06:34

Morning tweakers, early morning feed? How are things with you?

I have had an awful nights sleep and I really don't know why. Had a couple of contractions in the night but that seems to be normal for the last week and not enough to keep me up as much as I have been. DH is still not great, took the boys to McDonalds for tea and left him at home as he 'couldn't bear to watch us eat'! We were all of course very disappointed, that we were forced to eat fast food Wink. Decided to get up as DH is sleeping well and I am clearly not going to do much more than toss and turn. Can't believe how dark it still is at this time, and am now thinking of all the dark nights up feeding my little man when he finally arrives! DS was an April baby so did lots of my feeding when the nights were short.

Not feeling quite as sad today but still thinking about induction a lot. Must try to be more positive about it as so much of coping in labour is mental and I was so negative when I had DS, this time will be different no matter what.

All you lucky ladies with your babies have a lovely day :)

tweakers · 11/09/2010 09:54

hi cinnamon, yeah, it was indeed! she's been awake hourly since 3.30 but did a four hour stint of sleeping before that so i don't feel too bad at all. things are absolutely wonderful here, i'm so happy

sorry to hear things not so good there but you're right.. coping in labour is imo 99% mental.

below is something a friend said to me a week or so ago....

Just relax into your contraction each time and embrace it like it were the greatest gift in the world. Allow it to make you happy not scared. Fear and anxiety need to be placed in a box and set out for the bin man. When the time comes everything will fall nicely into place. That includes dh and DC. Just believe. You are surrounded by lots of love near and far. It will all be as it should be.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/09/2010 13:21

Sounds like good advice!

I bought myself a second hand nursing gliding chair this time around for night feeds, will be much more comfortable than the dining chair I had in DS's room the first time around or sofa which I moved to once I got feeding a bit more sorted! Looking forward to using it for more than day dreaming Grin

WelcometotheJungle · 11/09/2010 15:46

Congratulations Roz 10lb 2oz! Well done, bet she's beautiful.

Hi alien best of luck with TTC hopefully it won't be long.

growingbump2 · 11/09/2010 17:54

Hi everyone, congratulations to the smiley faces that have arrived while I have been busy feeding and changing nappies!

Congratulations Tweakers your birth sounds lovely.

Had to post for you cinnamon, am sorry that you are so fed up - hope you don't mind me telling you a bit about my induction probably won't cheer you up but I will try. I went in to be induced at term + 12 after a failed sweep and failed everything else! Was upset to be induced as was induced with first labour due to medical reasons, it was a lovely birth but I would have loved to have gone naturally this time. This time didn't tell anyone in family that it was happening except mum as she was watching DS1 so didn't have constant texts and phone calls. Examined and told cervix very posterior, first gel took no effect even though they were all hopeful that it would be all I would need. Gel next morning, loads of bouncing and walking all day but nothing more than a few niggles. Cue another nights sleep then ARM in morning at 3 cm but still very posterior. Given 5 hours for contractions to start then taken to labour for syntocinon. Finally realised baby back to back so given diamorphine for pain relief and midwife tucked me all in with a blanket and my hubby next to me was really comforting and little Toby arrived 6 hours later. Not the birth I would have planned but it was perfect in the end. Good luck for Monday if you don't go into labour before Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 11/09/2010 19:41

Thank you growingbump2, I know that the most important thing is a healthy baby and healthy mummy but I can't help but feeling I have failed if I don't go into labour myself. I had syntocinon the first time around and an epidural (although I fought not to I gave in in the end) and felt I hadn't really experienced the birth, so on that hand your experience doesn't make me feel better. But that fact that you feel so positive afterwards does give me hope that I can come to terms with it all. I also worry that I used up all my luck with my first induction in having pushed DS out without intervention that it may not be as successful this time around. How does that compare to your first induction?

tweakers · 12/09/2010 08:55

morning cinnamon, how are you feeling? its a beautiful sunny day here and i'm thinking lots of positive birthing thoughts for you

cinnamongreyhound · 12/09/2010 09:22

Morning tweakers, I'm more positive this morning, slept all night apart from one wee break which really helps. Had a lot of tears yesterday which probably helps as well to release all the negative feelings. DH is feeling better this morning so we can hopefully have a nice family day and not focus on tomorrow morning. I have had pretty much constant period pains and mild contractions on and off since yesterday lunchtime but nothing that really feels like its the start of anything, just hope its having a positive effect on my cervix and that it will be favourable tomorrow.

Walked the dog so fast yesterday evening I had a rock hard bump for about 10 mins after I got back and then bounced on my ball all evening (ended up with a numb bum!). I am pretty resigned to the fact that I will have to be induced but won't give up trying. It's lovely here today too, how are you today?

tweakers · 12/09/2010 19:30

really pleased to hear you sounding brighter. sorry i've been awol, we've had pil here today. really lovely time had by all Smile
how are you feeling tonight? have you had a nice day?

cinnamongreyhound · 12/09/2010 20:51

Glad you've had a good day today. We went to the park and walked around the country park then back for a few last minute chores while ds slept and dh and dss played ps3! Went to my mums for dinner, back for bed and another fast dog walk! Sitting on ball now, then off to bed as we're leaving for hospital at 7.30 and I want the boys to be ready before we leave them with my parents to take them to respective schools. Had more tears this afternoon but not as many as yesterday. Dh is so convinced I'll be contracting quickly after prostin and giving birth before tea time tomorrow without anymore intervention, trying to keep his optimism!!

Will post tomorrow with progress whatever it may be!

EmmaRoyd · 12/09/2010 21:49

Just a quick one, congratulations Roz14! well done, and lovely name. Cinnamon, will be thinking of you in the morning.

I'm struggling a bit, DS is 10 days old today and I'm feeling worse and not better. As there is no such thing as TMI on this thread I'm going to tell you all I think I have an infection. I've tried to be scrupulous with my personal hygiene but I smell fishy BlushSad and am more sore than I was last week. I'm going to see GP first thing.

cinnamongreyhound · 13/09/2010 07:28

Thanks EmmaRoyd, off in 5 mins. It doesn't sound good to be more sore after a week, I remember a steady improvement after I had DS but good you are going to GP. Not really related to the infection but I had a very shallow lavendar oil bath twice a day and sat in it for 10 mins doing pelvis floor exercises and generally swishing water in the direction as it is very difficult to clean when you are swollen, it was very soothing. Had the first one in the morning after having had a shower and the second just before bed and am intending to do the same this time. No idea if it helped but lots of people swear by lavendar.

Roz14 · 13/09/2010 08:33

Hi Ladies - apologies for not being in touch on a regular basis. It seems to have been a whirl wind of feeding, dirty nappies and visitors this weekend. Thanks for all those messages of congratulations and for my smiley face tweakers.

Cinnamon - I am thinking about you this morning. It sounds like your baby is being a bit lazy like mine. I only went into labour 2 days before my EDD because of an extremely intense second sweep. That smiley face is at the ready for you Smile.

Emma - sorry to hear you are not feeling great. There is nothing worse than getting an infection at this time.

Tweakers - Your birth experience sounds amazing. Sorry if I missed an earlier post but have you got a name for her yet? and What did she weigh?

Welcome Alien - I am glad you have joined us.
