Any other MN impatient for their August arrivals???

Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present

Hi Ladies. Just to update you on the sweep I had this afternoon. It wasn't half as bad as what I thought it was going to be. The MW was really lovely and put me at ease straight away. She told me that I was already nearly 3cm dialated and that my cervix is 50% effaced (not sure if I have spelt that right and what it means . She also said she could reach my waters and was able to touch the baby's head.

I seem to be aching more than usual this evening and was getting pains 10 mins apart earlier this evening but seemed to have settled down a little now. Hope everyone elses sweeps went ok today and good luck with your tomorrow tweakers.

The MW is going to book me in for an induction on wednesday if needed but we shall have to wait and see

oh - just noticed Inzi's post - congratulations and well done Inzi. You should be really proud of yourself - 10lb 7oz

My sweep worked! William James was born at 9.29pm on 2nd sep 7lb 9oz. Currrently in labour ward it's 1.40am all babies quiet but have a very loud snorer next to me!

Had something which I think I could call a contraction last night lasted about a minute and had a periody crampy feeling in the bottom of my bump for the rest of the evening but nothing more. Makes me feel a bit more positive but nothing else since, although I did take the midwife's advice and have sex last night, my DH was much more up for it last night but only if I waited until the morning to go into labour

Congratulations Emma - that is fantastic news. Hope you and the baby are feeling well and looking forward to coming home. I had a feeling you were having the baby with not hearing anything from you yesterday.

I had my sweep yesterday afternoon. Was having contrations in the evening at every 15mins but now nothing. Just realised I am the only 26th Aug due date left to have my baby - Im feeling a bit lonely now.

Cinnamon - I hope it is me next, I am going to pounce on my DH when he gets home from work this lunchtime - Sex may just do the trick after yesterdays sweep. That looks really positive that your contrations are lasting a minute - it may be you with the next smiley face after all

so for 3 days now ive been having either false labour,alot of bh or a very long latent stage...
contractions every 7-15mins lasting 30secs to 1 min...getting rather fed up now. cant sleep at night as its uncomfortable (although not painful) so im now exausted and starting to really worry by the time im in active labour i'll be to tierd to push him out...espessially as he's already measuring a pound bigger than dd's birth weight.

really wish i at least knew what was going on (if im dialating at all or this is all for nothing,just bh) but dont feel like i can call mw as i know im not in active labour...urrgghhhh.

skye at least things are happening though. sounds like your body is preparing. Can you see mw to get her to check if you are dilating?

Sorry to hear that you are feeling tired skyeplusbump, it may make you feel more positive if the midwife could tell you you were dilating and then you wouldn't feel it was for nothing. At least its something, better than nothing happening at all and just sitting wondering, although I can see it must be frustrating!

Great news candinha, does that mean you're back to your original plan of a home birth?

i see them today, and think I will take an induction if its offered for this weekend. have no night duty next week and think its best for DS1 to go with family this weekend when there are more adults about.

cant face daily monitoring, not with a toddler

sorry to hear you're not sleeping skye, I assume you've tried paracetamol or whatever to try and take the edge off and get some rest? Hope things start moving for you soon.

skyeplusbump sounds like things are going to happen soon for you but the non sleeping is a pain. I agree with the others it would be great if the MW could establish if you are dilating or not.

I am still not having a HB as MW not keen on it now due to my slow mobility, I am starting to think i would be OK. She did promise me that I can have a 2 hour disccharge from hospital as she is qualified to do the paediatrc checks so that's reassuring as I hate hospitals.

I have never been this overdue 40+4 now it's very annoying!! Especially when I can't feel anything at all, no BH, no twinges, no signs at all... Just baby moving less as the space decreases.

On my own in the house so will try and be a bit productive, move about, bounce on my ball etc... Asked DH to get some pineaple and I shall eat it all this afternoon by myself

My boy DC4 was born 27 Aug 2010 (due 1.9.2010) nice and quick and at home and weighs 9lb 1oz

He is feeding and sleeping well and it is all going rather swimmingly really. I did originally go into labour at 32+ weeks so it is a miracle he hung on this long and we got our home birth.

Hi all quick update,
Orla Maisy was born on 2/9/10 at 20:39 weighing 7lb 6 1/2 oz.
Labour much better than last time, waters broke at 9:15am, syntonin started at around 16:30pm, gas/air & Pethidine, 20mins pushing and no tear or stitches......
