Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

Hi girls,
I'm still here still pregnant. Over the last two days I've had two sweeps and a show. I went to the hospital under Drs instructions and he said he would come over and break my waters.

When I got there I was having painful contractions 10mins apart (I still am) lasting 30 seconds.

Well the midwife I saw put on a trace for an hour and SENT ME HOME.
They need to be five mins apart lasting a minute.

Bugger, I'm so nervous of a quick progression.

Oh, and the midwife rang the DR and told him off since they didn't have the staff to deal with an induction this afternoon.

But I am booked for early tomoro morning. Now all I have to do is not freak myself out with induction threads or speed up these contractions.

I thought I would have seen some birth announcements in the last two days, have all these babies got stage fright.

As for DH, he ate a huge roll at the hospital and then says, "Oh, Oh, I feel like my stomach is gonna burst".

WT?

Morning ladies - Im still here 40+7 and it is sweep day. Midwife coming to my house in pm and am really nervous. Im trying not to get my hopes up but got a feeling that tonight will be the night for me - I am feeling sooooo anxious. I came downstairs at 5.30 and was not able to sleep but then did try to go back to bed at 6am and managed to sleep up to 8am (DS came and woke me up - bless him).

I feel so tired and now worried that if I do go into labour I am going to have no energy.

Skye - You have got some fab bargains. I havn't been too bad with ebay at the moment. It is a MN obsession I have gained Smile - but that is ok.

Tweakers - DH's, they just can't help themselves can they! I bet you are really knackered this morning too.

skye blimey! that's quite a haul you've got there!!

jungle your poor DH! i hope you gave him lots of sympathy for his poorly tummy Grin
but on a serious note, try and relax today. have you got DH there with you? can you pop in the bath? i have no idea if this will speed things up or slow them down so ignore me if you know otherwise!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/09/2010 08:26

Doesn't sound like the best end to an evening tweakers but at least he's doing something useful. My mum is funny about me walking the dog at night in winter even when it's 5.30 and everyone is on their way home from work!

Fingers crossed for you welcometothejungle sounds pretty promising for you. Had quite a few tightenings in the night that were more painful than braxton hicks but nothing since I got up this morning.

Roz14 · 02/09/2010 08:26

Hi Jungle - things sound like they are moving along for you now. It is so frustarting when you get to the hospital and they then send you home. Try not to freak yourself out - Everything is going to be FINE Smile

morning roz x post with you there! yup, i'm shattered. DS awake at 6 but hey, at least i had half hour between 5.30 and 6 Hmm I was trying to talk to DH when he got up at 7 to ask if it would have been reasonable for me to get him (dh) up at 6 so i could have had another hour and i got told to 'not spoil a nice morning by talking about it now' fFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh (don't read if you're having your breakfast!)... curry seems to be having an 'effect' on me this morning...

what time's your sweep? i'm v Envy that your mw is coming to you. i have to traipse up to the clinic tomorrow afternoon with DS and do the whole carry him up the stairs in his pushchair on my own. i'm just hoping the sweep doesn't work as quickly as it did with DS because there's no way i'm going to get home before my waters go!

skyeplusbump · 02/09/2010 08:30

i know...really must stop,
but utterly barginous non?!HmmGrin

jungle & roz, good luck!! im nowhere near sweeps, inductions etc...i think they dont do either till 42 weeks here!! im going to be compleatley mental by then...with piles of ebay stuff clogging my house like those mad old pepole who cant throw anything away.AHHHHH!!!

get out baby,im serious now, baby, can you hear me baby?!!

tweakers · 02/09/2010 08:34

WelcometotheJungle · 02/09/2010 08:35

tweakers and Roz - thanks for the advice.
Breathe, breathe.

WelcometotheJungle · 02/09/2010 08:38

Skye you've inspired me to get back to ebay at some point. Have been slack lately. I could do with some good retail therapy!

Roz14 · 02/09/2010 08:41

Tweakers - will she not come to you if you ask. Mine just offered to come. She came to my house once before as well, I think that one was to have a bit of a nosy at the babies surroundings - something that the MW's seem to do around here at about 35 weeks.

I love curry but that is why I have avoided them a little towards the end. I didn't like the thought of 'the effect' it may have during labour Grin. I made a spag bol last night that included some chilli but that didn't seem to do a thing.

Forgot to mention, I got myself really worked up last night because it dawned on me about 8pm that I hadn't felt the baby move much that day. I laid down, had an ice lolly (which normally gets her wriggling and nothing).
Ended up calling my mum and hospital for reassurance. MW was lovely and told me to eat something sugary and lay down with my hand on my tummy and count how many moves I got in 2 hours. If under 10 call back.

Well to cut a long story short, after all that she started wriggling like crazy about 40 times never mind 10. I was sooo worried and she has not even arrived yet. What am I going to be like once she is here Hmm

Tweakers - good luck with your sweep. I've had two and no waters broken so far.

I hope tonight is your night Roz and that things get going for you too cinnamon.

porcamiseria · 02/09/2010 09:15

still here, 40+6

ROZ I had exactly the same worry as you, went in and they monitored me for half an hour and sent me home.

EMMA I hope it comes b4 Tuesday, however if you do get induced the minute it gets busy I am sure they will transfer you to a private room and DP can be there

I see hospital tomorrow, my worries are comfounded by childcare. Mum is away now and my brother is fretting "how long will it take if they induce you" err fuck knows. have visions of my weeping child being there for days, or for me having baby solo

a nice bout of 5am to 7am worrying insomnia, great

the looooong day looms

Cosmosis · 02/09/2010 09:34

morning all, I'm off for another sweep this morning and talk about postponing my induction till Monday/Tuesday just to give me a bit more breathing space.

Candinha · 02/09/2010 15:19

Hi everyone had my sweep this lunch time and I am now bouncing on my ball. MW said I was 1cm dilated(I think that's probably because I have had 2 babies before though!). Have another sweep booked for wednesday and then induction on the 10th, which I hopefully won't need as DH is away that day.

Does anyone know if these sweeps actually have any effect Hmm?

Roz14 I have been worrying about baby not moving much today I shall do some counting when kids are in bed to settle my worries. I am hoping that the reduce movement has something to do with baby getting ready to come out Smile.

Good luck to all tonight Wink

Cosmosis · 02/09/2010 16:16

I am back with just the result I wanted :) lovely MW agreed with me there is absolutely no need for an induction on Sat - I go on to daily monitoring from Sat to check the baby is ok and we see how it goes from there.

Feel so much better :)

Candinha, sweeps work if you're ready I think, really - my mw today said that her record was 2 hrs between sweep and delivery!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/09/2010 16:17

Wow, there is lots of sweeping going on! Hope some of them result in babies appearing :)

Mine is coming to me too tweakers but I'm not quite sure where she is going to do it and rather inconveniently she is going to ring me in the morning to sort out a time which suits us both Hmm more likely when she can fit me in and I'll have to be there, not ideal as I am still working and would like as few children around as possible!

I know 2 ladies who went into labour the day after a sweep both with their second babies Candinha.

Feeling a bit happier today about everything, read the induction leaflet and they now send you home after the first prostin gel and if that gets you going then the rest of your labour is as if you've started naturally. Got to 5cm with DS just from one gel so fingers crossed if I need to be induced that's all I need.

DS was so brave today with his jabs, didn't cry at all and when I asked if it hurt he said no I was brave! He also put his socks on all by himself for the first time this morning so I am a very proud mummy!

Hi DancingOnMyBladder I'd love to stop but agreed with parents I'd take 2 weeks off as I can't afford to loose them and that's what I'm sticking to!
