Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

tweakers · 31/08/2010 09:17

another one here slacking on childcare! DS (2.1) is still in pyjamas, playing with his toys but tv's on. but then i'm still in my pyjamas too! he has at least had breakfast which is more than i've done so far.

right, time to get active... breakfast will help the day be sunnier

oh and skye those boots are gorgeous! i've heard of kate kuba, we've got a shop in the next town. could you give them a call?

skyeplusbump · 31/08/2010 09:24

tweakers thats very good news! i was starting to freak out that they werent a 'real' company...but if they have shops...thats really good news!Smile

tweakers · 31/08/2010 09:47

looks like most of their shops are all round near me... let me know if you want me to 'tool up' to go and sort them out Grin

CakeandFineWine · 31/08/2010 09:53

Morning all, checking in for morning roll call.
My friend had a DD yest Yeah at 40+11 so I can go now surely I won't be RL queue jumping.
As for childcare my DD is 4 and starts school a week tomorrow Sad you think she'd be easier to manage bu wants constant entertaining. She finished nursery Friday to hav some time at home, regretting that decision now!!

Got my consultant appointment at 2:20 today for sweep attempt 2!! So can't make the walk, could do with it too, really want this baby out before DD starts school. I have horrendous back & hip pain today tho Hmm and loads of pressure down below....

Skye gorg boots v Envy
Inzi sorry about your loss before at least they monitoring you!
Emma R Shock at your NCT advice!!!
Cinnamon hapy due date heres your smiley ready SmileWink
candinha Sad sorry about your ankle that really is crap!!

OK major rant alert, sure I'm just all hormonal but my mother rang last night, just as I sat down with my first meal that day and uni challenge I might add, out of the blue she started a really gross intimate converstion re: her impending smear test and lack of sex these days c/o divorce from step-dad! We really don't have that type of relationship which is her fault as she chose to raise me without discussing facts of life and I'm far from a prude BUT don't speak to her about these things so told her this, she went all quite then got shitty saying I'd said I was having a sweep so why shouldn't she talk about her smear test (including how they'll need lots of KY EEWWW)Then she does only talk about herself...and ended the call FFS!!!! Angry just what I want at the mo, well manta with my DD's is to be open and honest with them, even at 6am this morning when DD was asking loads of death related questions.....WTF?!?!

Right thanks for that all better now!!! WOW what lengthy post sorry, I'm off to poop again.......

porcamiseria · 31/08/2010 09:59

noone dressed here
DS watching toy story for the millionth time

and about 10 new stretch marks!!! WTF, only got them week 39

and DP is having a lie in !!! he is usually SAHD so is around, thank god. I have alot of sympathy for those coping with toddlers solo

good luck, none of these bloody babies are budging are they!!!!!!!

nice boots BTW!!

Candinha · 31/08/2010 10:11

cakeandfinewine That is crap about your mum, mine phoned yesterday about the birth and when I told her about my foot, she then started talking about when she broke her foot and I just didn't get a word in Sad I felt like saying 'at least you weren't 9 months PG' Grin

Morning all still here feeling really crap anckle really sore just managed to make myself a bowl of porridge, which was to say the least a big struggle. I have cried all morning non stop at my missfortunate as I am struggling to adjust to the fact that I can't complete the simple tasks in the house and DH is having to do everything with the kids. With regards to baby, a bit more discharge now (sorry TMI) and MW yesterday said baby's head is engaged. I think someone asked why the HB was out of the questions - Community MW was worried about my mobility and the fact we don't have a toilet downstairs, but I am having another risk ax tomorrow after my full cast so they may re-consider it as long as I can weight bear. I am not so sure about it now because I can't get anything ready for HB and despite DH's efforts I think it may just tip him over the edge Wink. Sorry about the long post today but at least it made me stop crying. I am now going to climb the stairs and try to have a shower sitting on a plastic chair with my cast in a plastic bag Confused not really sure if I will manage it but will let you know.

Good luck to you all - where I am it's a gorgeous sunny day, definetly a gd day to be born Wink

skyeplusbump · 31/08/2010 10:13

thanks about the boots! i love them already!Grin tweakers i will let you know!Wink

cake my MIL decided to 'share' last week, she'd just been for a smear and the nurse ha commented on how 'tight' she was....BLEARGGGGHHH Shock
she also keeps telling me how hard this stage is...im not sure how she knows though as she gave birth early both times...Hmm

EmmaRoyd · 31/08/2010 10:14

To be honest I've only dressed her because I've palmed her off with someone else for the day Blush. Cake - I'm with you on this one, YUK YUK YUK!! My mum is ALWAYS talking about smear tests and I revert to a child who wants to stick her fingers in her ears and shout LA! LA! LA! I CAN'T HEAR YOU. I asked to borrow her hairbrush last time I was at her house and she said help yourself its in bedroom drawer except first thing I found was KY jelly. (puke emoticon).

porcamiseria · 31/08/2010 10:17

cand you poor thing, thats not funny

that nice, MIL tight chuff sharing, I almost feel sick too

I know its sunny and a nice day but I am BORED NOW, that sounds ungrateful and petty I know

INIX are you having a ECS soon then? fingers tightly crossed

EmmaRoyd · 31/08/2010 10:20

oh Candinha you poor thing! It does seem to be a mum trait doesn't it, turning a converstion round to themselves, or their friends, or even 'jean who lives down the road' yes her daughter broke her foot once.

tweakers · 31/08/2010 10:22

skye your mil shared that with you??? eurgh!!

candindha i hope you end up with the birth you want. you're doing amazingly given what you're going through with your ankle and i feel bad about moaning now

CakeandFineWine · 31/08/2010 10:26

Well u made me smile GROSS!!

Thanks all. We were going swimming this morning as I'm not working til 1.30 but am a bit worried about starting things off! Might leave it til tomorrow as I'm doing the same hours tomorrow and will be quite happy to see baby then :)

DH was supposed to be off all day today but is having to go in because they HAVE to have an electrical shutdown and no-one else can cope, I did point out that it was my due date and could be in labour and then what would they do? His reply is but unless you are I will have to go in and that's the end if conversation. He's pretty good really but I can see some of yours aren't quite a good. Annoys me too as his son is only here for 2 more days before he goes back to school and now he's got to be with me from 1-8 instead of his dad, which isn't terrible but not ideal.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2010 10:54

Not sure what happened with my last post I was trying to do it from my phone which obviously didn't work at the time and now it looks like I've ignored loads of posts!

Don't be even mildly terrified marsipananimal they are really not that bad. Hope it works for you.

That's very strange from your mum cakeandfinewine, nice to know she cares about you and your pregnancy as well as her sex life Hmm

Hilarious stories of mum's and MIL's, remember when my mum told me about my nan and grandad and KY jelly when I was about 18, totally freaked me out!!

Re: sleep, my DH went to bed at 10 last night as he wanted to make sure he'd had enough sleep if I went into labour overnight! I had a long labour with DS and although he went home in the beginning (was induced so he was sent home being told nothing would happen until I had a second pessary at 6am and they called him back at 4.30am) he was up with me not sleeping the following night. I should too but my head is full of stuff so find it hard to fall asleep at the moment.

Allegrogirl · 31/08/2010 12:37

Following a sweep on Sunday my waters broke 2.30 yesterday morning. Meconium in the waters so sadly no home birth for me.

Had synto to speed things up and after a fast and furious 1st stage and a long and difficult 2nd stage my 9lb 2 little girl was born. No epidural this time and it was pretty painful but I'm recovering quicker than after having an epidural. Gas and air is my new best friend. We're home now and we're just trying to come up with a name.

Good luck to all those still waiting.

marzipananimal · 31/08/2010 13:16

yay allegro, well done :) Sorry you didn't get your home birth but glad you're home already.
I hope my sweep works that well! Just had it - wasn't too bad but pretty painful (I'm a wuss). Feeling a bit wobbly now but no cramps or anything

nice TMI from mums/mil! I remember once finding condoms in my parents' bedroom - but my Dad has had the snip. Bleurgh! I'm thinking they must have been for oral [puke]

WelcometotheJungle · 31/08/2010 13:21

Inzidoodle - so sorry for you and DD.

Skye - MW told me to have a mars bar or coke and I would have plenty of movements within the hour. False labour is annoying huh.

Candinha - Ouch, unlucky. At least you have really good excuses for sitting around all day enjoying your baby!

tweakers - I'd love to join you on your walk but I'm a day behind and on Oz time! BTW where's the pic of your baby carrier? You're a creative bunch over your way!

Growingbump2 - Best of luck, can't wait to hear the news.

Cinnamon - My DH is also 14 years older than me and three will have to be enough. Although if we won lotto tomorrow we'd definately reconsider our options.

Emma - Yes! I delegate dressing DS(3) to DH as I just can't catch him in under 10mins!

Marzipan - Hope sweep went well. Mine is in about 12 hours. Am nervous too.

porcamiseria · 31/08/2010 13:21

yay to allegro!!!!!!

and you did syn and no epi, HARCORE!!!!

Also, skye, thats WEIRD that the nurse even commented on her tightness. I'd be slightly freaked if someone said that to me ( and suprised LOL) .. sorry, its been on my mind!!!

WelcometotheJungle · 31/08/2010 14:07

Allegrogirl - Many congratulations, good work!

EmmaRoyd · 31/08/2010 14:19

Well done allegro!! Grin. I'm just psyching myself up for a walk, will catch you all up if youve left already.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2010 14:36

Congratulations Allegrogirl, sorry you didn't get your home birth but good to hear you are both well and you are recovering well.

Allegrogirl · 31/08/2010 14:54

Thank you ladies. Porcamiseria I'm feeling pretty hardcore!

I am so glad I'm not pregnant anymore although I don't think I'll be getting much sleep for a while.
