1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

Breakfast:
1 Tbsp of protein granola
1 Tbsp of Greek yogurt
3 strawberries

Lunch:
1 bowl of spicy carrot and lentil soup (home made so no sugar etc)
1 modest slice of bread, no butter, a really thin single layer of strong cheddar, just enough to go lacy on top - toasted

Dinner will be:
A grilled mushroom burger - a big field mushroom grilled with garlic, herbs, with tomato
Modest flimsy burger bun
A small handful of 'dry chips' - (potato cut in wedges, skin on, salt, pepper, baked)
A big pile of salad with non-oil dressing.

1 can of alcohol-free pale ale (less than 100 cals)

I don't know how many Calories this all adds up to, but I know from experience that if I eat like this for a couple of months I will lose weight noticeably.

Your jeans look great!

lou967 · 16/05/2020 14:53

@YinMnBlue some great meal ideas there. I may try a few myself.

Thanks. Glad you like my Levi's!

Feeling hungry. Not unbearable but could eat something.

Have a glass of water and raw carrot, or similiar.
Go out for a walk or start an absorbing job!
Distract yourself!

lou967 · 16/05/2020 18:26

I went for a walk.

I've just had Turkey, brocolli, carrots, sprouts, cauliflower and some new potatoes.

How's everyone else getting on?

@IamHyouweegobshite - me too. 5ft2 and now 11 3. I’ve put on 10lbs since lockdown and started calorie counting a week ago. I lose v slowly so it’s frustrating so I’d love to join too.

lou967 · 16/05/2020 18:39

@Musmerian more than welcome. Keep posting and we can all help and motivate each other! :)

My trick is to have small portions of the calorific stuff like meat and cheese(like half of what I used to have), fill the rest of the plate with veg and salad. It leaves room things like a glass of wine and a champagne truffle to go with. I eat sleep why as it makes food last longer!Grin My motto now is the food has to be really good to be worth the calories, I don't eat or drink anything I don't like.

veryvery · 16/05/2020 18:54

Oh and with starchy things, I cut the portion right down. 3 chips, or one potato wedge, I small Yorkshire pudding. Again they have to be fab quality.

I've really got used to this balance of portions.

lou967 · 16/05/2020 18:54

@veryvery some wise words from you. I agree. I've been having a palm sized piece of meat/fish. A few potatoes and loads of veg.

Its not worth wasting calories on food you don't like. I agree.

501's I'm coming for you!

Sticking to 1200 calories per day is actually really easy on keto (high fat, low carb).

darkforceofexcesszeal · 16/05/2020 19:00

Sliding in late, lured by the prospect of a return to 501s. It’s been bloody years, so long I had almost forgotten how much I loved them!
I have 3.5/4 stone to lose and I’m 5’2” (eep). Slightly relieved to see a couple of other vertically challenged amongst the giants Grin DH is a rugby playing foot taller than I am and serves identical portions (Which I readily eat, because I bloody love food). It is no surprise that I am this size. Ah well.
501s though.
It’s a long weekend here, and I have my target set in cleaning out the bedroom. I know I have at least three plastic storage tubs of clothes I can’t fit into - I’m going to hunt me down a pair of jeans for inspiration Grin Hope it’s ok if I hang around!
I’m going to start with an oldie (Anna Richardson body blitz?) and cut out carbs, dairy for two weeks for motivation. I’ve used MFP before but I find logging everything a bit of a pain.

lou967 · 16/05/2020 19:02

@Aunty5ocial I've been reading about and hearing good things about Keto.

I know my calorie counting method works as I lost 6st.

If I struggle to lose or my losses slow down, I may give it a go :)

Joining too please.
Been meaning to lose weight for ages and really want to fit in to a dress when I (hopefully) go for a spa weekend in October. I'm 5"3 and about 72 kg. Non sleeping toddler is making healthy eating a struggle though as I constantly grab for high calorie food 😴

lou967 · 16/05/2020 19:04

@darkforceofexcesszeal good to hear from you. More the merrier.

Have you seen the photo I uploaded of my 501's?

Lets get you in your 501's. Good luck with the no carbs and no dairy.

Get rummaging through the tubs!! you can do it :)

lou967 · 16/05/2020 19:05

@8elate8 glad to have you onboard.

Fingers crossed the spa is open in October for you :)

I did see them, lou! The sight of the tags gave me proper chills Grin at one point it was all I would wear and I miss buttons!!! Been in mum jeans for waaaaay too long. I nearly ordered new ones in the week as current pair is getting a bit holey, but I was a bit depressed at the size issue. I KNOW I have smaller jeans in those boxes though... I haven’t opened them for a few years since a house move (as I k ow none of it fits me...)

Batqueen · 16/05/2020 19:14

Joining too! Been on it about a week this time.

I often lack motivation to get to where I actually want to be but have enough to keep me from being unhappy if that makes sense? So usually am maintaining and can lose if I accidentally put a bit on but I want to use this time in lockdown to get me down to my ideal bmi whereas now am at the high end of healthy.

Aiming for about 5kg and 1200 kcals a day - have managed it for the last week so far

lou967 · 16/05/2020 19:15

@darkforceofexcesszeal I never wore mine. I have 3 pairs. 2 vintage 501 and a new 711 skinny pair. I got fat again before I could take the tags off.

I'm never taking mine off once they fit again. I love the button fly and how they fit. Also non stretch is a bonus!

Hi!

I'm on day six of 1200 calories a day. I'm using My Fitness Pal to help.

I don't have working scales in the house (need to order battery!) but I think I'm about 13stone. My aim is to get into single digits Grin

I had a baby 6 weeks ago so want to get slimmer and healthier.

Today I had - Apple and banana for breakfast, coffee and kitkat as a snack, salad for lunch with chopped bacon, and red lentil and sweet potato Dahl for tea 😁

lou967 · 16/05/2020 19:16

@Batqueen nice to hear from you. You can do it. Are you same height?

OP posts:
lou967 · 16/05/2020 19:18

@hermionegrange glad you joined. You can achieve single digits!!

Batqueen · 16/05/2020 19:23

Hi, I’m 5’4 and 63kg. I should go slightly lower than 1200 if I want to lose faster but I’ve decided to go with a slower pace for weight loss as otherwise it just feels like eating dust and then just add in some good long walks!

lou967 · 16/05/2020 19:26

@batqueen I'd stick to 1200. Any lower you might feel hungry. Good luck. Any clothes you want to fit back into?
