1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 23:29

I'd like to join. I'm 5'3" and I've just got weighed and I'm 11stone 2. I wasn't this heavy 9 months pregnant!
I'm going to reduce my calories and increase my exercise. Mine has crept on slowly but my brother gets married next year and I'm a bridesmaid so I'm determined to be back under 9stone by then. I know I can do it as like lots of you I dropped to 7stone from 11 stone in just under 6 months last time.
With me I know I need to reduce the size of my portions to reduce my calorie intake.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 23:40

@anothermansmother welcome aboard. You'll achieve your goals!

@lou967 thanks but looking at the waist I have long way to go..do you use MFP or similar to count calories?

lou967 · 16/05/2020 08:34

@onedream yes I've been using MFP. The waist is small as they're a 28. Same as mine. Think how good they'll look on once they fit though!

Morning all. How are you all doing?

Usual for breakfast this morning. Porridge and a Cup of tea.

babysnowman · 16/05/2020 10:50

Morning! Had special k with berries (actually weighed it out!) with skimmed milk for breakfast and a couple of coffees with skimmed milk. Have ordered a new set of bathroom scales, last one smashed when I dropped a glass bottle on it!

lou967 · 16/05/2020 10:52

@babysnowman sounds like a nice breakfast! Oh dear about the scales. Let's hope your new ones are better made!!

onedream · 16/05/2020 11:56

@lou967 yeah I keep thinking about that a lot recently..

I had to pop out to post office so I just had coffee with Oatly milk before I went and around 5 giant rice cakes when I came back..

I have some roasted cauliflower from yesterday so just thinking what to have with that for lunch..

EvenPhilip · 16/05/2020 12:23

Hello Can I join?
I have never dieted or been overweight until now. Perimenopausal and suffering from lockdown cake/wine excess. Also 5'8 . Could anyone point me in the direction of a plan that I could follow while I find my feet? I am a carb addict and I think I need the discipline of a menu plan initially.
Will be starting Monday,

lou967 · 16/05/2020 12:24

I've added a picture of the Levi's. they're still tagged. I've hung them up to motivate me. I hope it works. Still tagged too!! I must have wear them.

@evenphilip more than welcome to join. It's probably best if you try and cut down gradually. So keep breakfast and lunch the same and then have a smaller dinner or portion controlled. Try and snack on fruit and veg sticks if you get hungry. As you get used to eating less, it becomes easier. Also drink lots of water and try and go for a walk or some form of exercise.

I think I'll follow your example of porridge for breakfast, it's usually latte and a Danish Blush that way I will start the day feeling virtuous which might spur me on.

EvenPhilip · 16/05/2020 12:38

I'll do a weigh and measure on Monday.

lou967 · 16/05/2020 12:46

@EvenPhilip how much do you want to lose? Any goals?

Kim82 · 16/05/2020 12:57

Can I join please? I need to lose around 4.5 stone and downloaded my fitness pal this morning after scoffing 3 pieces of toast with loads of butter on 😣

So, after deciding to be good I have had cucumber and carrot sticks with a small amount of garlic and onion dip followed by a banana for lunch.

Dinner will be some Tesco lightly dusted fish, chips done slimming world style and mushy peas.

That will bring me in over on my 1200 calories for the day because of my breakfast but as I wasn’t planning on starting the diet when I ate it I can’t complain too much. I’ll make sure I stay under/at the 1200 each day from now on and I’ll weigh myself on Fridays.

Good luck everybody

lou967 · 16/05/2020 12:59

@Kim82 yes you can join. Don't beat yourself up. You will get there. Just be mindful of what you're eating.

I had chicken, pasta, salad and some low cal mayo for lunch.

Can I join? Smile

How long did it take you to lose that 6st the first time round OP? And how much time are you hoping to lose weight over this time? I know it's not a race but I get so disheartened so easily.

Pre children I lost 8st in my early 20s by calorie counting. I was a size 8 before I had DTs, down from a size 20.

Embarrassed to say I have (at least) 6st to lose now. Really don't get out much with DTs even before lockdown. Would really like to think I could do this and be wearing nice clothes by Christmas?

Best of luck to everyone else Smile

lou967 · 16/05/2020 13:41

@SuckingDownDarjeeling yes more than welcome to join. The more the merrier I say. Its always good to keep accountable and hop on here for a chat during this lonely lockdown period.

It took me around 12-14 months to lose 6st. I want to lose 3st this time as I regained 3 over the last year or so. I'm hoping by christmas to be 10st and wearing my thin clothes. If I can keep motivated.

Nothing to be embarrassed about. You did it before, you can do it again. Good luck and message on here :)

Yay!

I remember the first time the 'switch' went on in my head and I finally started to lose weight. Prior to that I'd spent months thinking I was trying my best and not getting anywhere. One day is just had enough and decided to make tough decisions.

I decided to cut out crisps, because I loved them so much I knew they were my Achilles heel. I was so strict with myself! Eventually kept a food diary on a little notepad I carried with me everywhere.

It's hard to imagine being so strict with myself again given how different my life is with kids but people do it all the time. Surely I can too right?!

lou967 · 16/05/2020 13:51

@SuckingDownDarjeeling It's a mind game. Your body is used to eating lots. It takes awhile for it to adapt and for you to get used to discipline.

The notepad idea is good but you could use MFP on your phone. However, its what works best for you.

You can be strict and need to be again in order to drop the weight. I need to start being strict again. It takes time, but fitting back into smaller clothes in my wardrobe beats stuffing my face with biscuits/sweets/crisps any day.

SuckingDownDarjeeling · 16/05/2020 14:03

Just searched on the App Store, is MFP my fitness pal? That looks really good so I've downloaded it now.

Does anybody have any experience with losing weight after having much bigger boobs? Blush before kids it wasn't that much of a problem (although also not great) but since having kids they're more than double the size and now I'm scared I'd need some kind of surgery or something. Do they just go like pancakes? Confused
It's actually putting me off trying too hard to lose weight when I think about it which I know is weird.

By the way

Skimmed milk has more sugar in it than Semi skimmed

Semi skimmed has more sugar in it than full fat

So milk wise. If you want low sugar. Then full fat is the way to go
