1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

Hi I’ll join, I am the same height an about the same weight! My hips are quite wide though so I’d like to get back into a size 10. Currently a size 12/14 depends on the shop.

I eat about 1200 cals daily & currently not exercising, just a slow all daily.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 12:38

@floralnomad Next time I go shopping I'll see if its available. Thanks for the recommendation :)

Another recommendation for the BOB milk, it's skimmed but it tastes just like semi

lou967 · 15/05/2020 13:57

@floppybit thanks :) will check it out

Tuna salad for lunch with tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, onions and some brown rice. Not feeling too hungry so far today.

I'm a lot bit shorter than you, using MFP to log calories daily, mine is set to between 1000 and 1200 each day, I only started last week but have lost weight this way before.

I know that for me I need to avoid carbs in the evening, occasionally I'll have a little bit of rice, but other than that it's protein and veggies or salad for dinner every day.

I'm 6lb down in my first week which I'm happy with, now I just need to continue, I've also give up snacking entirely.

Good luck!

lou967 · 15/05/2020 15:32

@CamdenLurker great to have you onboard. How much have you got to lose? I did 1200 calories a day when I lost 6st. I need to learn to keep it off. Well done on the 6lb down. Thats incredible!!

Calorie counting is the only diet that has ever worked for me. Good luck.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 16:18

@madcatladyforever well done! Glad you've found something that works for you. I know it works for me, its just maintenance I struggled with

Feeling hungry at the moment. Not sure why as I've had 2 good meals so far today.

OP posts:
CamdenLurker · 15/05/2020 17:17

@lou967 ideally I'd like to lose 3 stone, but being realistic two would put me back where I was two summers ago, so I'd be happy with that.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 17:18

@CamdenLurker same goal as me

babysnowman · 15/05/2020 17:22

Can I join? I'm 5'7 and probably up at nearly 13 stone too. I want to get into my size 12s/ 30inch jeans, at 10 stone they will 'hang' right on me.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 17:23

@babysnowman welcome aboard!

@babysnowman when did the jeans last fit you? whats your plan of action?

Hmmm well this is the kind of embarrassing thing...I saw a pair of white company boyfriend jeans that I wanted for my birthday so I got them in a 12 to motivate me. It's probably been about 6 years since I was in size 12 jeans. I know calorie counting works for me, my baby has just turned one so I don't need to worry about limiting my calories in terms of breastfeeding anymore. 1200 a day sounds like a good place to start.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 17:32

@babysnowman no need to be embarrased. They will fit you soon. I feel more embarrased that I lost 6st and then regained 3 back. None of my jeans fit me at all.

I’d like to join for motivation! I was a similar size to you in March lou - 5”8” and 12st 10lbs. I’ve been sticking (well, 90%!) to 1200 calories a day and also doing lots of walking (about 5-6 miles a day) and I’m currently at 11st 6lbs. Got into a pair of smallish size 12 new look skinny jeans today so felt quite good!

I’d like to lose another 10lbs though so need to keep going and see it as a lifestyle change, not a short term thing.

Today I’ve had a tuna salad for lunch (lettuce, toms, cucumber, tin tuna, olives and a bit of feta cheese) so around 200 calls. We’re having takeout curry in a bit as a treat but il just have rice and a chicken tikka, no sauce. I reckon that’s about 800 cals and il have a bit of skinny popcorn afterwards.

I do feel so much better already for getting this far - keeping a hold of my sanity though out lockdown has been a big motivator for me (4 dc’s at home for lockdown with 3 needing home schooling!) so I’m determined to stick at it.

Are size 28 Levi’s a 10? Don’t think I’ve ever had a pair of Levi’s although I do have a lovely pair of Ralph Lauren jeans that I think are a 10 so maybe il aim for those!

lou967 · 15/05/2020 18:10

@bleepbloopblarp Yes you can join. Welcome aboard! Thats an amazing loss. Its reassuring me that I can lose the weight....again!! haha. Well done on those new look jeans.

I was told when I bought my Levi's that a 28 was a 10. I own new ones and vintage ones and both fitted me when I was a 10.

Those Ralph Lauren Jeans sound nice. You'll be getting them on soon!!

Bleepbloopblarp · 15/05/2020 18:25

Thanks lou
The jeans were a fab bargain - I got them from a charity shop a couple of years ago for about £10 and they still had the original tags on which said rrp £100! I wore them a couple of times that summer and then slowly put on weight (a combination of holidays and laziness!) I reckon another 7lbs and they’ll fit me nicely. That’s one of the best things about losing weight - you can get out all the nice stuff you forgot you had and revive it - it’s like having a whole new wardrobe.

Good luck on your weight loss too!
I second arla BOB btw - it’s really good and tastes just like semi.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 18:36

@bleepbloopblarp That is a bargain. Are they a nice blue skinny pair?

I paid a lot more for my Levi's. I wanted a vintage pair as they are non stretch proper denim. I loved them... and still do. The feeling of not having to breathe in to button them up or have tummy overhanging jeans is a joy.

I reckon you may need smaller jeans at the rate you are losing! You've mastered it. I just need to be able to maintain once i've got it down. (Any tips please do share :) )

I agree its like having a new wardrobe. Its a good job my clothes are fairly new, otherwise I may look dated!!
