1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

Oh I love proper non-stretch thick denim jeans!

I'm 82.4kg which is 13ish stone I think and 5'8" too. I was hoping to lose weight by focussing in my fitness during lockdown but instead I've just eaten loads of shite!

Do you mind if I join too - an accountability thread might be useful.

I also use Fitbit to track my exercise and calories

lou967 · 15/05/2020 18:47

@Veterinari more than welcome to join. Its nice to have people to chat to during lockdown. You can do it. Yes proper non stretch thick jeans are amazing. Get some 501's. You won't regret buying them. How much do you want to lose?

They’re white! I love a white jean in summer. The new look ones I’m wearing are black ripped ones though - I’ve got loads of jeans. My favourite ones are from next - they’re really flattering and one of the incentives to lose weight is that my favourite pair from there were too tight. I’m a bit of a cheat though in that I like jeans with a bit of stretch - Levi’s are quite unforgiving aren’t they? Or do even they have a bit of Lycra in nowadays?

As for tips, for me it’s definitely been keeping in mind how much better I feel when I’m 10st 10 as opposed to 12st 10! I felt pretty rubbish back in feb/March. Eating crap + no exercise really affects me in a bad way, I was feeling quite down. I feel so much better already. Diet wise I think what works for me is planning what I’m going to eat each day and trying to stick to it! Also I have a bit of a cheat day on a Friday/Saturday so like tonight I’m having my curry (DH picking it up on his way home - can’t wait) and tomorrow il have a bit of chocolate and won’t bother if I go a bit over my calories. I have to have that bit of something to look forward to at the weekend (last weekend it was a barbecue and a few glasses of wine) otherwise I’d go mad and binge.
I then just get back on it the next day. I also love going for long walks which helps I think.

Bleepbloopblarp · 15/05/2020 19:01

Ha you’d answered my question re stretch in the meantime!

lou967 · 15/05/2020 19:21

The new Levi's have stretch. I own a pair of 711 Skinny and they are really stretchy. I like how they fit or I did shall I say (when they fitted!). I opted for a vintage pair that still had the tags on which I purchased online. They are a light blue colour. Absolutely no stretch so if I gain they don't fit. I also have some 7 For All Mankind jeans and True Religion that are really cool. Expensive but look amazing on (when they fit!)

I've never really been interested in buying high street jeans. They are all stretchy and never seem to last. Also, in comparison to designer ones, if you look online or shop in the sales, you can get a bargain. (Or like you, in the charity shop!).

I agree that no exercise and eating badly affects mood. I was so not motivated. But since I came across my clothes in the wardrobe I thought why not?

Regarding treats etc I think I'd struggle as If I had some chocolate I'd end up eating the whole bar. Same with biscuits. I'll eat one and before I know it the whole packet has gone. I guess what works for you may not work for me or anyone else. If it did, we'd all be slim lol.

ooh, I loved my pre-baby 'proper' Levis!

What a great goal, OP.

I am also now 13 st - and would like to lose 3 stone.

Porridge
Soup / salad /modest protein
Sensible dinner

Snack on carrot sticks, cherry toms, and small apples.

Cut our crisps, ice cream and most alcohol
Stop being so lazy over exercise

That's my plan.

Started this morning - doing quite well so far.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 19:44

@YinMnBlue

do you still have your Levis?

How tall are you? It seems a lot of posters on here are 13st :)

Similar plan to what I'm eating daily. I started today. Hope I can continue. I've been for a walk.

@lou967
Ideally below 75kg

I was always less than 70 until I was 30 and since then the weight has piled on Sad

YinMnBlue · 15/05/2020 19:59

lou I am just under 5'8" too.

Sadly I haven't still got my old Levis - I wore them to shreds, I think. Maybe I will look and see if I do. I loved the way they didn't hug in too tight under my bottom, and weren't tight around the thigh.

I wore the ones with the red edge on the inside seam for years.

Hello,
Joining in as I'm on calorie counting too..
Back in October last year I was 14.3st..still eating with no limits over Xmas and new year..
Then I have to stop dairy, soya and egg because of my lo having suspected allergy and I was still breastfeeding him. This helped me to get started tbh..
I have started with calorie counting on MFP in January and had 1400 cal limit per day..
I can happily say I am 11.8st as of yesterday when I checked my weight thanks to change of diet and calorie count together with mild exercise (at the moment Joe wicks every morning)..
I have for the first time managed to fit into size 12 and I could not be happier.
My goal is to loose another stone if possible..
I try to upload pics of my in October and me few weeks back..
You can do it!
Good luck everyone x

Thank you,
It definitely gets easier with time as you progress, I'm glad most sweets and chocolates are not dairy and egg free as that was my worst enemy, I could never say no to cakes and chocolates, now I don't have choice..
My lo weaned himself off breast milk already so I can theoretically go back to eggs and milk but I'm scared I will pile it all back so staying dairy and egg free by choice, I got used to this diet anyway now..

lou967 · 15/05/2020 20:44

@onedream you have achieved so much! You should be proud!

What are your goals?

OP posts:
onedream · 15/05/2020 20:52

When I saw that photo of me it was a wake up call I needed I could not believe that's me and that's how I look..
I want to loose another stone, stone and a half..I don't have Levi's but I have a lovely gap jeans I bought right before I got pregnant with my first lo..I didn't get to wear it for long and I have never fitted in those again..it's been 5 years now they are in my wardrobe untouched..
I will check tomorrow what waist are they..
I think in order to fit in I need to be around the 10-10.5st mark so still a long way to go..
My weight loss slowed down now..I think my body sort of adjusted to the healthy diet so at the moment I'm thinking about ways of upping my exercise..

lou967 · 15/05/2020 20:55

@onedream Ooh gap jeans. They are known for small sizing. Are you same height?

sociallydistained · 15/05/2020 22:58

You're cals are too low to be honest. Work out your TDEE using a calculator online and workout your calories from there.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 23:00

@sociallydistained Thanks. I did lose on 1200 before so I know it works. I may add more cals if I struggle to lose and then cut back down to 1200. Is TDEE accurate?

IamHyouweegobshite · 15/05/2020 23:08

Do you mind if I join pls? I'm desperately trying to lose weight, I'm short, 5'2 and I'm 11 1/2 St, which is too heavy for me. I'd love to lose 2 stone.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 23:10

@iamhyouweegobshite More than welcome to join. Are you calorie counting? What are your goals?

OP posts:
IamHyouweegobshite · 15/05/2020 23:18

I've done calorie counting before and it worked, although not as low as 1200, I think the lowest I went was 1400. I have been over 11st for 18 months now, I want to get below that, and if I get below 10 I'd be so happy. Age is not on my side now, 46 and finding it a lot harder to lose.

lou967 · 15/05/2020 23:19

Keep posting on here @iamhyouweegobshite we will all help you!!
