1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

Well done @witchwindows!

My loss is painfully slow even though I’m not going over 1200 as my BMR is 1300 cals so I have to exercise to lose weight and I’m working from home and also studying at the moment but I’m not giving up!

Down 1.1kg so far

Well done @WitchWindows and @Batqueen and all! I completely agree that it has to be slow and steady. That’s how the good habits form.

How are you getting on @lou967?

Batqueen · 02/06/2020 19:32

I hope so - I think the test will be when I have to write my next assignment. I find it sooo hard to write essays while feeling at all hungry, whereas I eat soup for lunch every day now!

Either I might have to switch to bigger lunches and soup for dinner or go for mammoth walks each evening during essay days!

yoikes · 02/06/2020 19:41

Hi,
May I join you?
I've never done calorie counting but did lose 20lbs a few years ago low carving but it made me quite ill and I ended up having to have my gallbladder out :(
I'm now heavier than I've ever been :(
Nearly 13st!!
I'm 5ft 5 so I'm teetering on obese.
So I plan to stick to 1200 cals a day.
I also plan to do yoga each day (various injuries mean I simply can't do high impact exercises....a hiit video nearly killed me last week!)
I'm peri menopausal too.
Any tips gratefully recieved!

anothermansmother · 03/06/2020 12:03

Hi! Glad to see everyone losing. I had a week where I did nothing but eat, so not good. I need to get some scales. I took all of my measurements and went through my wardrobe and gave found a dress I wore for my graduation ( 4 weeks after giving birth) which is a size 8 and want to get back into that. I bought new smaller dinner plates which I think is helping.
I've started clinch to 5k and am doing the 100 squats a day challenge. A friend is trying to get me to take some diet pills (that she is currently selling) but it's not going to happen.
Has anyone else got a target weigh in mind? Mine is 8 stone. So I think I've got about 4 stone to lose. ( I'll have to get on the scales!)
Anyone else got any tips for Toning as you go?

Batqueen · 03/06/2020 13:11

Welcome @yoikes!

@anothermansmother my initial target is 55kg and then I’ll review. I’m quite naturally muscly but narrow build (think Courtney Cox but less beautiful!) so I don’t want to look too scrawny. I’m currently at 62.8kg

Smarshian · 03/06/2020 14:00

I’m not sure what my final target weight is at the moment. I think around 9st10lb but I think I’ll need to see how I feel once I get there and maybe adjust.

YinMnBlue · 03/06/2020 14:11

I am not weighing til Sunday as I have had several very lax days, so need to get back on track.

More in the ‘a choc biscuit and some ice cream’ league than fish and chips followed by a big slice of choc fudge cake, but still!

Well done everyone, every little helps!

YinMnBlue · 03/06/2020 14:16

Yoilkes that’s really alarming about low carbing and your gall bladder Sad. Are you ok cutting down without medical advice?

1200 cals a day sounds sensible though. Good luck!

EvenPhilip · 03/06/2020 15:08

I'm another with no idea what my target weight is.
I'm using a pair of trousers as a guide and taking it from there.

@witchwindows
There are some studies that say dieting this way helps with motivation. (One cheat day) I haven’t needed it so far but I will use it when I need to which I think I am likely to when essay writing. I have also factored treats into my diet.

Good evening everyone. I'm liking the idea of a cheat day if you really need it, but at the same time I don't like to see food as something bad.
So today I went out and purchased scales. I'm currently 10stone 8lb, I want to get down to 8 stone as I know that's what I was when I wore the dress. So 2stone 8lb to go.

How has everyone else been doing today?

Studentnursesos12e · 05/06/2020 13:03

Almost one week of 1100 cals plus exercise cals a day and I’ve somehow gone from 13st 4 to 12st 6.5 so that’s 11.5 lbs down, so happy although it will be water weight / visceral fat. It’s actually fitted in really well with night shift and I resisted all the ward snacks. Now I have a week off and need a food shop. And aiming to increase my exercise. Well done everyone x

MairzyDoats · 05/06/2020 20:48

I've been lurking on this thread to help with motivation and it's been great, but whatever happened to the OP?

YinMnBlue · 05/06/2020 22:06

Wow Studentnurse, that's very impressive!

I have had a hopeless few days, but am still making slow but steady progress.

I am aiming at losing half a stone.
Then another,
And so on. But just focusing in the next half stone.

Today:
Bran flakes with semi-skimmed milk

Half a small avocado, handful of lettuce and cherry toms,
Tablespoon of cottage cheese
2 dark ryvita.

A plan cracker
A very small apple

Laksa noodle soup with lots of bean sprouts and a few prawns.

Will have a small glass of red wine.

Batqueen · 06/06/2020 09:51

Well done @Studentnursesos12e!

I got my dissertation back yesterday so decided to celebrate and have an unplanned half bottle of Prosecco (shared with dp) bringing me up to my maintenance cals. I lost six months of my life to that piece of work so I felt I needed to celebrate getting a good result!

This morning I’m down 0.2Kg so doesn’t seem to have done me any harm. I had plateaued for a few days before that so I think that’s more the reason why but I’ll take it!

All in all not a bad 24 hours but I think I’ll make soup today so I keep yesterday as a one off!

Studentnursesos12e · 06/06/2020 10:28

Thanks @YinMnBlue @Batqueen

And Well done on the dissertation, that’s very well deserved @Batqueen x

I’ll probably have veggie fajitas again cos I’m addicted to that meal atm, and will eat it til I’m sick of it 😂

babysnowman · 06/06/2020 10:57

I've fallen way off the wagon. Baby isn't sleeping at night and I have been snacking loads during the day. I've signed up to the free trial of Noom so will see if any of the behavioural stuff on there helps me stay on track.

YinMnBlue · 06/06/2020 12:00

babysnowman it’s tough because lack of sleep makes you want snacks for the energy. Just try and keep your basic diet healthy and don’t get discouraged by ‘off’ days. The good days still count!
