1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

Hi everyone, glad to see you're all doing so well. I haven't been on in ages and also am no longer putting everything into mfp but still trying to stick to 1200 using what I've learned from mfp as a guide. Now lost 7lbs! That's in three weeks so around 2lbs a week which is about right. Feeling better already and I'm also putting my height in cm into the BMI calculator because I'm actually 5'6.5 so that's brought my BMI down even more hahaha.

BuntysBumperAnnual · 07/06/2020 13:36

Starting weight was 13st 4, now 12st 11. Got a long way to go haha but I'm on my way!

YinMnBlue · 07/06/2020 13:45

Bunty - wow - good for you!
That's half a stone!

I am moving at about the same rate as you, and I am kind of in the habit now of no snacks, low cal breakfast and lunch, sensible dinner and a lot ;less alcohol.

I can't calorie count as it just makes me think about food and what I can't have.

BuntysBumperAnnual · 07/06/2020 14:23

Thank you! Yes, I'm really chuffed. I've also lost 2 inches off my fucking enormous "waist" and I can see my clothes hang better on my shoulders so that's even better - I've been piling everything on on my torso for a couple of years and I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to shift it. Think the yoga helps with that.

I did find mfp and strict calorie counting really useful in the beginning because there was so much I wasn't counting - butter, oil etc. In fact I was underestimating a lot! But now I think I have a better handle on what a healthy meal looks like so am doing similar to you - small light meals and no snacks during the day and a decent but healthy dinner plus minimal booze.

It feels better, doesn't it?

PersonaNonGarter · 07/06/2020 15:06

I agree re minimal booze - I am resigned to no booze until this lockdown weight is all off.

Weighed in this morning and I am pretty excited have lost 5.5lbs in two weeks since this thread started. I keep thinking of my small waisted, slouchy trousers and it is spurring me on!

I made scones today and so just had to have cream and jam so not a great day for me but other than that have just had soup so hopefully not awful in total if I don’t eat for the rest of the day!

BuntysBumperAnnual · 07/06/2020 19:56

@WitchWindows the protein thing has been a revelation to me too. I used to do a roast chicken on Sunday and use the leftovers for sarnies and other meals the next two days. But instead I've been having the cold meat with lentils or salad and a bit of dressing and it keeps me full for much longer. Eggs too are filling. And much less mid afternoon slump.

Well done on the gingerbread men, sugary wee fuckers.

@PersonaNonGarter you've still lost 5.5 llbs even if you've had one bad day. Onwards! @Batqueen I'm sure you enjoyed the scone. Again, onwards! It's not like you thought fuck it and scoffed the lot. Or even if you did, you're not doing it every day. We're all moving in the right direction.

Had my first real challenge whilst walking through Tesco, resisted and have come home to a protein shake and fruit. Would normally be on the crisps, sweets, cakes, trifles etc all in the one go. Upping my protein has been the key to my success so far m

Had a planned day off yesterday but fully back on it today. Finished on 1,050 cals. Day shift tomorrow and the thought isn’t good but should be fine eating wise.

I’m hoping to get another half stone off by the end of June which would get me into the 11 stone bracket. My losses are v unpredictable though so I’ll take what I can get.

Due to covid my graduation (1st week nov) has been postponed to 2021 but I still want to be at my target stone bracket by the 1st week of nov. If I lose half a stone a month I can do this

Batqueen · 10/06/2020 09:36

I managed to not eat much yesterday but unfortunately it was because I seem to have a stomach bug Sad

Hopefully things will be a bit more normal today!

Boltouttheblue · 10/06/2020 16:35

Hi, I've come to join you too. I've been calorie counting for the last 10 days or so and can already feel a difference. I finally got some new batteries for our scales today though and was mortified to discover I currently weigh 14st 2lb Sad. I'm 5ft 7 and know I ideally need to lose 3 stone but 2 stone would be a good start.

Thanks @WitchWindows!

Started feeling better last night so celebrated with a veggie carbonara with Vivera soy bacon

1.9kg down as of this morning.

bettyskitchen · 12/06/2020 07:39

Joining in too! 5 weeks in I’m half a stone down doing 1200 cals.

I found MFP to be a great way to educate myself on food. I’ve still being enjoying my favourites but thinking of new ways to eat them to make them healthy. We’ve had wrap pizzas for 350cals and I’ve made Chinese food for the first time making healthy versions of our favourites. I’ve found that lockdown has helped me to stay on plan as I’ve no social distractions / drinking / eating out. Hoping to lose another half a stone.

Also bought some fab new scales on Amazon, they were £32 and connect to your phone. They measure body fat, water, visceral fat etc so it’s been really interesting to see where I’ve been losing / if I’ve been gaining muscle

I hope people don't mind me joining in the chat - I've been lurking for a while. I'm doing MFP 1200kcal and losing 2lbs a week. Started at 11st 4lbs (5'6") so just into the over weight category, now down to 10st 10lbs. Have lost a consistent 2lbs a week apart from the first week where I lost 4lbs! So really pleased with the calorie counting so far.
I use Gousto so plan in my dinner at the start of the day and work out the rest of my meals from there. I always pick Gousto meals with lowish calorie counts.
Generally I'm eating:
Breakfast - 2* large eggs scrambled. No butter or milk, just salt and pepper once cooked. No toast. 100ml of orange juice and and tea with ss milk (252kcal) that keeps me pretty full.
Lunch: varies but often a wrap with a slice of ham and salad, or a wrap with half a tin of heinz soup etc. (200-400kcal)
Dinner: totally varies but usually 400-600kcal
Snacks: a peach or apple mid afternoon, sometimes a fibre one bar (87kcal) and after dinner two biscuits (nice, custard creme, malted milk...) With a cup of tea with ss milk.
Through the rest of the day I drink water or decaf earl grey (black).

Not finding it too bad now, the first few days were hard as I'm a huge snacker.
Generally coming in at 1300kcal but I do at least an hour's walk with my dog each day and in the mornings I do a stretch/situp routine so always earn back at least 100kcal and it seems to balance out.

Lurchermom · 12/06/2020 09:45

Woops - meant to say, target is 9st 7lbs, so 17lbs to go!

BuntysBumperAnnual · 14/06/2020 14:02

Congratulations on your loss so far lurchermom. That's terrific.

Witchwindows I've heard loads of times that people lose rapidly in the first week due to losing water. Not dehydrating but losing fluid around muscles but it usually doesn't continue which is good in the long term as that's unhealthy. You have still lost loads altogether!

Agree with you about mindset. I'm not a very "even" eater - I mean, I don't eat the same amounts at the same time every day, just how it is really, so I'll probably continue to have bumps here and there, but I'm not stressing.

Another two llbs gone this week which makes nine overall - 12 st 9. Still at the stage where it's more "ooh my clothes are looking better and feeling more comfortable" rather than "WOW my God you've lost weight you look AMAZING" but every pound is a step closer to that hahaha. And crucially I'm no longer tipping over into obesity but am now "merely" overweight.

I don't know what my goal is. Ideally I'd love to lose four stone and get to 9 st 4 but it's many years since I was there and I'm having a hard time visualising it iyswim. I'd be happy with 3 stone lighter and 10 st 4 which is still comfortably healthy for five foot six and a half.

Batqueen · 15/06/2020 12:07

Morning all!

So I managed to hit my 2kg down but am now in full on period bloat and cramp hell so am avoiding the scales as they are just depressing.

On the plus side hopefully when I get back on them in 8 days the loss will feel more substantial!

Lurchermom · 15/06/2020 13:05

BuntysBumperAnnual - thank you! It sounds like you are doing well and steadily which is the best way to be! It's always enticing to skip ahead in your mind isn't it, but I think sticking to a reasonable weight loss goal is best in the long term - nothing says you have to stop when you get there!

Batqueen - sounds like you're doing great! Always brilliant when you reach a goal! I know the bloating feeling well, I'm debating whether to weigh myself this week as I've also go AF visiting and I don't want to ruin my loss streak. Like you say, the double loss the week after should make up for it so fingers crossed!!
