this totally baffles me, , i truely cannot understand it.

i can understand it, if you try and find it too difficult, and decide its not working out for you.
but i honestly can not understand why a mother would not even want to.
surely every mum only wants the best for their baby?

is it because they do not understand the risks of giving formula?

Sad

You could try reading the umpteen threads on here on exactly that topic rather than starting this off again. I can't even be bothered to get popcorn...

hunkermunker · 30/04/2008 20:42

Milkgoddess, this has the potential to upset a lot of people, entrench their views and do untold harm, this thread.

Anyone posting subsequently to this, realise it was started from a position of naivety and not unkindness, please.

berolina · 30/04/2008 20:42

oh well done milkgoddess. I think you have just upset someone very vulnerable.

Honestly, what is the point of this OP?

sushistar · 30/04/2008 20:43

milkgoddess, have a browse in the archives, it's all there.

beansprout · 30/04/2008 20:44

I truly cannot understand why people start such judgemental threads? This totally baffles me.

FAQ · 30/04/2008 20:44

copingquietly - please don't be upset {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}

OP - there was a thread very similar title to this one not too long ago, why don't you have a read of that one instead of starting another one,.

I think that often it is due to a lack of understanding of both bf and af, sexualisation of breasts and pressure from peers/family.

I don't get it either, but if you're fully informed then ......

a new name would be a good idea

This is about the most controversial emotional minefiled subject it's possible to stray into on MN BUT, just because it has been done before doesn't mean people won't want to air it from time to time.

It's liek with anything on MN. Stuff comes up again and again and we learn about each other and how different women make different choices.

Thew people who've been through the mill on this subject don't ahve to click but I'm sure there are lots who haven't (MN's a very busy popular hang out) and would benefit greatly from having the discussion.

I also believe that airing this, and gaining understanding, helps women in general and even though it can cause hurt, it's better we understand and educate each other.

get a life, for gods sake, do what you want with your own kids and leave other people to make their own choice.
or should i rephrase that as why do people choose to ask such sanctimonious questions - just to make themselves feel superior by any chance?

Breastfeeding is your choice for your baby. Just because others do not make the same decision as you does not mean they are wrong.

I have breastfed all three of my children, but I do not begin to try and second guess other mum's lives, decisions, or choices on how they wish to raise their children.

Thank you, Mercy. I am weary with it all and do get frustrated sometimes. I mutter rude words a lot when I read stuff on here

SM, I'm too tired to work that out.

StealthPolarBear · 30/04/2008 20:58

copingvquietly (and anyone else feeling upset by this), please ignore the OP and read the many, sensible replies.
