Racist abuse of Saka, Sancho and Rashford after penalty misses

This is why I don't support England and was dreading them winning as I don't think the fans deserve it. They don't deserve those boys.

The boys are English when they score goals but monkeys and the N word when they don't.

Rashford runs a campaign to feed starving kids and gets nothing but racial and other types of abuse week in week out. Sterling regularly vilified in the press for buying his mum a house and his wife shopping at Primark 🙄. Both rise above it and are nothing but professional in their measured comments. And they have to be or it would just get worse.

The right wing press if this country feeds the jingoism, racism and xenophobia and this place is just a cesspool now.

The lip service paid to the situation: the statements 'condeming' the racism and the pathetic kneeing (which the English fans have charmingly taken to booing). A nation that has to tell it's fans not to racially abuse its team because they lost a football game is not one to be proud of.

This is utterly brilliant by Johnathan Pie, it nails the sentiments of the decent man and woman in the street.

Most of them from that era are probably in a nursing home and would be only to glad to get on one knee,
Times changed from them dark days,

RyanAirVeteran · 15/07/2021 16:00

@Sirius99

As someone who attends football matches, that might have been relevant in the 70’s and 80’s but isn’t so much of a problem now, They would be lucky to here anything from the crowds unless they are talking a corner or throw in, I not denying there is a small problem at football, but nothing like years ago thank goodness,
As the teenagers would say, you are chatting Sh*t

Depends how you want to look at things, what you want to believe

Roussette · 15/07/2021 16:02

So Sirius do you think the players take the knee for nothing because there isn't really a problem?

If black or bi-racial people tell you there is one, you really should accept that Hmm
I don't know, in what context, you can dismiss it.

I've heard it from my own family, I believe them.

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 16:02

In your opinion,

Quaggars · 15/07/2021 16:03

There are none so blind as will not see

Yep, definitely
Must be living in some lovely kind of denial Land in their own head if they think racism was a "problem in the 70s and 80s but not so much now" Hmm
Either that or being purposefully ignorant.

Roussette · 15/07/2021 16:05

Sirius So those footie fans too old to chuck bananas and make monkey noises now... do you think they had children? Do you think their racist thoughts were just for the football games and it didn't seep in at home?
You're deluded if you think that. It's the next generation with learnt behaviour from their fathers from back then.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 15/07/2021 16:05

Listen, the 'it was foreigners wot done it' routine has been done to death on here and we're not buying it. Just how stupid do you think we are? Because Johnson gaslights all the time and you lot accept it doesn't mean the rest of us are also fools.

One poster even had the gall to say it was traced back to black and brown people abroad who are tired of BLM.

Just admit you guys went a little too far this time and it was seen as embarrassing, even by the usual protagonists. You exposed a bit too much. Dial the racism back to an acceptable level next time then I'm sure everyone will go back to ignoring it again.

It just went a bit underground. Doesn't mean to say it isn't ever present. As the Euros prove.

And it's worse now because it's rubberstamped by the likes of Patel and Johnson giving carte blanche to them.

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 16:08

Are you honestly saying that racism in football is the same now as in the 70’s/80’s,

Roussette · 15/07/2021 16:10

Hmmmm that post of yours made me laugh. Yes.

I mean, for goodness sake, we see it on here, on MN! To deny it even exists or if it does, it's hardly anything, is just laughable.

One thread I was on deleted today, plenty of racism out in force on it. It's everywhere and it's shocking.

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 16:10

Are you in denial? Only 5 arrested, none charged and the rest were found to be from ISP’s from abroad

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 16:13

Roussette
I can only speak from my experience at football and my working and private life, Perhaps I’ve somehow managed to mix with the only non racist in the U.K., because that’s how people make the U.K. sound, the most racist country in the world🙄

Roussette · 15/07/2021 16:14

Of course it's different! My god, I'm old, I used to watch sitcoms that were full of racism. Look up 'Love Thy Neighbour' or 'Till Death do us Part' and you'll get the drift.

Society changed that. But it can't change how people feel and think. It's just hidden and creeping.

This Government has brought more of it out into the open.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 15/07/2021 16:16

That is so untrue. Post a link where it says that all but 5 were from abroad.
I keep mentioning VPNs and you keep ignoring it. VPNs hide your ISP which makes it really difficult to trace.

Here you go...

The UK Football Policing Unit say they are working through a ‘significant’ number of reports of racist abuse, but have already made five arrests

It takes time

That's just it, it's always been there but not as publicly "visible" lately - until the Euros.
Not helped because of the likes of those you mention failing to condemn it, making racists feel emboldened to give out abuse Angry Sad
Definitely poked their head out a bit too far this time though, good to see so many calling it out.

So because you, one single solitary person, has not heard of anyone being racist, that means that no one is? So all the people who talk of what they go through, of how they are made to feel, the thoughtless words and actions and seeping racism they are subjected to... is untrue because Sirius hasn't seen anything.

Rightio.....

Ok, I'm leaving it now, because every post from this particular person is getting more outlandish and ridiculous and is obviously only here to pot stir.
