Racist abuse of Saka, Sancho and Rashford after penalty misses

This is why I don't support England and was dreading them winning as I don't think the fans deserve it. They don't deserve those boys.

The boys are English when they score goals but monkeys and the N word when they don't.

Rashford runs a campaign to feed starving kids and gets nothing but racial and other types of abuse week in week out. Sterling regularly vilified in the press for buying his mum a house and his wife shopping at Primark 🙄. Both rise above it and are nothing but professional in their measured comments. And they have to be or it would just get worse.

The right wing press if this country feeds the jingoism, racism and xenophobia and this place is just a cesspool now.

The lip service paid to the situation: the statements 'condeming' the racism and the pathetic kneeing (which the English fans have charmingly taken to booing). A nation that has to tell it's fans not to racially abuse its team because they lost a football game is not one to be proud of.

@EchoNan

Any watching BBC News? Conservatives Against Racism For Equality? ( Never heard of them till now) A young man called Albie Amankona appears to be speaking up, (in a very measured way)about Johnson and co getting it wrong. I think he's in the Tory Party somewhere London way. Off to look this group up...
Heard of him last year and I gave a massive eye-roll

Give him time he will be the UK, male version of "Candace Owens"

EchoNan · 14/07/2021 18:24

Candace Owens?
You've been reading my mind.
That was my thought too. Ho hum.

I'll be delighted to be wrong.

Some arrests made.

@Orchidflower1

Some arrests made.
Good
HmmmmmmInteresting · 15/07/2021 13:51

Just four arrests is pretty pathetic.

Good, glad to hear about arrests.
Although agree with OP that's a pathetic small number.

C130 · 15/07/2021 14:35

I just feel sad, and despair that this is necessary, in this country in the year 2021.

Roussette · 15/07/2021 14:56

Five now. Hope there will be more.

So difficult and a lot of manpower if they use proxys or VPNs or whatever

RedMarauder · 15/07/2021 15:20

@HmmmmmmInteresting

Just four arrests is pretty pathetic.
Reading around about trolls and stalkers on SM, plenty of them make numerous accounts to conduct their abusive behaviour to the same person.
Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 15:25

Just 4/5 arrested and released, most of the others are from abroad, perhaps this shows it’s not as bad as it’s portrayed in this country

Roussette · 15/07/2021 15:32

There has been this argument about most of them being abroad. I am not sure that's the case
It will be proxy servers and VPNs.

Some abroad yes, but many many not. There is a problem here despite people trying to minimise it and say not.

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 15:38

It’s fills that people want to try and make out it’s a problem here,
We were watching the game in a pub, obviously gutted not one racial comment, on the way home heard on the radio a person saying how there would be racial comments etc etc, it wasn’t till that time that any of us even thought about the colour of skin of the penalty takers, they were just English football players, some people just seem to want to look for or cause problems

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/07/2021 15:41

And the black players tell people about the comments they hear from the crowd. Not just from one end.

Roussette · 15/07/2021 15:43

So, are you saying there is not a problem at all here?

Nothing? Because you didn't hear anything on your night out?

If so, I do think you need to tell that to all the black and bi-racial people and just see what they say. I'd be interested.

Roussette · 15/07/2021 15:44

Exactly.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 15/07/2021 15:48

White person denying racism exists. That's new.

As someone who attends football matches, that might have been relevant in the 70’s and 80’s but isn’t so much of a problem now, They would be lucky to here anything from the crowds unless they are talking a corner or throw in, I not denying there is a small problem at football, but nothing like years ago thank goodness,

Who’s the one bring the colour of skin into it, is that not racism ?
Not denying it, just saying people want to make out it’s worse that it was, hence 4/5 arrested no charges yet

So are you saying... that all those football fans throwing bananas and making monkey noises are now totally anti racist? They saw the error of their ways?! And now applaud taking of the knee for instance? Lololol

No. They went undercover and do it on SM with VPNs

Roussette · 15/07/2021 15:57

'There are none so blind as will not see'

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 15:58

Roussette
No saying there isn’t a problem, just as there is a problem with knife crime, anti social behaviour, robberies, muggings etc etc,
Maybe the problem is being portrayed a bigger issue then it actually was on social media,
On social media, unfortunately you can be who you want to be, say anything you want to say and from any where in the world, it magnifies the problem

How much racism is acceptable? Just because something appears better than it was 30 years ago, doesn't mean it's ok or that these lads should have to accept it. If you don't see that, you're part of the problem

Or indicates that prosecutions for hate speech are difficult to get
