Racist abuse of Saka, Sancho and Rashford after penalty misses

This is why I don't support England and was dreading them winning as I don't think the fans deserve it. They don't deserve those boys.

The boys are English when they score goals but monkeys and the N word when they don't.

Rashford runs a campaign to feed starving kids and gets nothing but racial and other types of abuse week in week out. Sterling regularly vilified in the press for buying his mum a house and his wife shopping at Primark 🙄. Both rise above it and are nothing but professional in their measured comments. And they have to be or it would just get worse.

The right wing press if this country feeds the jingoism, racism and xenophobia and this place is just a cesspool now.

The lip service paid to the situation: the statements 'condeming' the racism and the pathetic kneeing (which the English fans have charmingly taken to booing). A nation that has to tell it's fans not to racially abuse its team because they lost a football game is not one to be proud of.

Flax, that’s the problem with online abuse- it can be difficult to identify who/where it’s coming from but hopefully measures will be introduced so people can’t hide behind anonymity.

It’s disturbing though that people like you also use this to try to minimise/dismiss the racism very much present in the UK. And when you can’t rely on questioning the provenance of the online abuse you’ll even question the background of the perpetrators of the mural attack.

What do you think happened to the monkey chanters who were eventually banned from attending games? Do you think they just disappeared? Or had they been planted there by external forces to discredit white English people?

Flaxmeadow has form for this. Just ignore. That is what I will be doing from now on. Hopefully they will just trip trop off.

All that 'MoST tOLERanT cOUnTRY' and 'lEASt RaCisT' or 'best country in the world to be a black person' - ha! Yet this country voted in a PM who has made racist comments about people who look like our black players?

Absolutely. And who the hell wants to be 'tOleRaTed' in their own country?

That's right HmmmmmmInteresting. The PM has made nasty, racist comments about black people. He seems to get away with everything. I have no idea why he is not being called out as well. How we can have a PM who has made such remarks about black people, muslim women, and gay men is unbelievable.

Yeah me too. I should have ignored them from the beginning 😣

I've been away, slight name change.
I see the dog whistlers are still foaming at the mouth....Grin

EchoNan · 14/07/2021 10:44

Flax, didnt know where the mural was upthread. Allegedly
Yet, on an old unrelated thread, very familiar with Manchester.
And seems overly pre occupied with it's diverse population.

Thankfully, MN has deleted the racist tweet that F reposted on here .

Because, their input, ime, is not an honest debate.

Report dog whistle racism, don't engage.

Roussette · 14/07/2021 10:47

The mural is in Manchester. A multi nationalaity/ethnic city

Good grief, you are still saying this???

OK... why don't you qualify your ridiculous statement. Who do you think defaced the mural? What ethnicity?
Are you trying to say that a pesky brown person did it, so that means it's not a home grown racist? Or what?

Roussette · 14/07/2021 10:48

Report dog whistle racism, don't engage

Sorry, yes, you're right.

Hi @Rousette

With a nod to your Corrie affinities, you'll understand when I say that :
I keep stopping myself from referring to "The Muriel" Grin

How lovely to see people of all colours, ages, shapes and sizes coming together there last night.

Roussette · 14/07/2021 12:26

Oh my, that is me! It will forever be a Muriel to me! (RIP the wonderful Jean Alexander)

A fantastic peaceful protest there last night, indeed Smile

DeeCeeCherry · 14/07/2021 12:54

Great to see people of all nations gathering, putting up messages of love and support at Marcus Rashford's mural.

Community. This is what's needed to oxygen-starve divisive British government, right wing media, and trolls who crawl out from the bridge.

I had to laugh at BJ and PP suddenly denouncing racism. They thought their way was what appealed to the majority so now they're backtracking. Popularism politics.

No need to argue with racists. Just go out there and stand together, they hate that their voices don't matter more than others.

Well.... I've just watched PMQ's. And Johnson did not equip himself well at all as far as being pressed on the footballers taking the knee.

"Nobody defends booing of the England side" he says.

Too little. Too late.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/07/2021 13:31

They literally did defend it though.

Still trying to work out exactly what context Johnson’s previous racist comments are ok in. He seems to be aiming they were taken out of context.

Roussette · 14/07/2021 13:33

Yes. That's the best he can do at PMQs today.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/07/2021 14:11

They must have known all those questions were coming and still can’t find an acceptable answer.

They even had to resort to ‘we’re not racist, look at the make up of the cabinet.’

It’s not like admitting it would be a problem anyway. Half the country voted him in knowing he was a racist.

Glad I’m not the only one who always says “Muriel” Rafals this is sadly true, the electorate should take a look at themselves when time & again the likes of Patel/Elphicke/Rees Mogg etc etc get voted its a sad inditement of how the bar has sunk so low for the quality of people who represent us makes me weep.
EchoNan · 14/07/2021 14:55

Any watching BBC News?
Conservatives Against Racism For Equality? ( Never heard of them till now)
A young man called Albie Amankona appears to be speaking up, (in a very measured way)about Johnson and co getting it wrong. I think he's in the Tory Party somewhere London way.
Off to look this group up...

EchoNan · 14/07/2021 14:57

I don't think I'll be hlding my breath though....

EchoNan · 14/07/2021 14:58

that should say
( I'm not hiding ha ha)

I know! For example he said “ A bunch of black kids made me turn a hair” and added “If that is racial prejudice, then I am guilty” What was the context there? SMH
Tubbs99 · 14/07/2021 17:11

I’ve never heard of them either, Echo. Better late than never I guess. Seems like it’s panic stations at Tory HQ.
