mlic i tried a dummy but he wont hear of it, wont even keep it in for a second, may give it another go though, he is so aware and stays awake more now which is lovely but its like he doesnt want to miss anything or gets over tired, didnt think i would be worrying about tantrums until he was a toddler

Strange question alert!! Does anyones lo's seem to breath funny? Rileigh pants and sometimes it seems shes forgot to breath. Dp's noticed it too so not me being paranoid, but I must say I do get worried x

Gracie123 · 25/07/2010 03:03

Congratulations to all those with babies!!

I'm awake with dreadful pains at the moment, but refuse to believe anything will come of it as I'm dreading calling MW and being forced to have em c-s! I want my nice planned one on Tuesday with the surgeon and anaesthetist I've already met!!

stac list looks great except that I am now:
27th July, Gracie123, Bedford

the race is on for you and me emsie !

Gracie123 · 25/07/2010 04:27

Hope alls going well gracie i'l amend your details today.

Dps taken lo so i can snooze for an hour as i have another headache, think i'll have to go back to the docs. Going to mil's for dinner so no cooking for me yay. Whats everyone else got planned? X

memphis83 · 25/07/2010 11:39

stac ive just cleaned bathroom, floor needed doing and not been able to get down on knees with a big bump so finally looks spotless again dh has gone to work to load up for tomorrow my friends are coming at 2 hope they dont stay long! enjoy your lunch!!
mlic tried lyndon with a dummy again this morning after his bath as he loves bath and hates it when i get him out and he didnt cry and kept it in!!! maybe he will sttle a bit better now, feel better about it after reading you took it away at 6 months i just dont want a toddler talking with dummy flapping about in his mouth! so my plan is if it does settle him i want it gone by 6 months, 9 at the very latest!
hope you all have a fab day!!

Spirael · 25/07/2010 12:01

Morning all! Congratulations for all the new arrivals. And good luck, Gracie! We really are very boy heavy in here, it seems. I wonder if they're going to double the number of girls?

On the subject of dummies, I've tried Mindy with a dummy a couple of times (we got an Avent one with the steriliser) to try and settle her in the evening, but she's really not interested. Spits it straight out. She doesn't really suck her thumb either... Only time she sucks her hands is when she's hungry. Oh well! She self settles without too much trouble after a bit.

That achy pressure I was having seems to be fading now, which is a relief. I'm probably just healing up but found Ibuprofin was better than Paracetamol when I needed to go out and about, and also doing yet more pelvic floor exercises helped.

Anyway, I have a quick question, for anyone that's been to a Mum and Baby cinema showing before...if anyone has? The Odeon near me does such showings and I was thinking of going with Mindy in a couple of weeks time, as I want to see Toy Story 3 and DH really does not.

My question is regarding the logistics... Do Mums normally bring their LOs in prams/pushchairs? I assume LOs sit on their Mum's knee... So where do the prams/pushchairs go during the film? Or do you just bring the child in the car seat... Or should I use the carry wrap?

Also, for changing purposes... Presumably you pop out and use the facilities in the bathrooms to change LO if necessary. Do you have to take everything with you and risk losing your seat, or leave things behind and risk having them stolen? Is it worth me finding a Mummy friend to go with so we can watch one another's stuff, if possible??

So confusing.

memphis rileigh didnt like the dummy at first but i just kept trying like you and now it helps. Defo taking it away before toddler stage as also worried about misshapen teeth

spireal we don't have it either or at least not that i know of, have you tried to google it?

Emster30 · 25/07/2010 13:56

wow, so many new babies! congrats to all!

kapars · 25/07/2010 19:24

Evening ladies - congrats to everyone who has had babies. we're nearly all there.
Haven't had much chance to get on since Yasmin arrived as she is a real milk monster and needs constant feeding - and as I am breastfeeding only I can do it!

I've posted a pic and now I am going to try and catch up with thread before my sleeping angel wakes up.

DH and Becky - how's the breastfeeding going now and anyone else? I am through the pain barrier - it's just the constancy of her wanting to feed that is wearing me out. She can go for hours literally with short breaks in between...though she was quite good last night waking only at 3am, 5.30am then 7am for short feeds only(i only went to bed at 1am after a feed).

She is such a beautiful perfect sweetheart though and is so worth it all.
HOpe you are all enjoying your babies ladies.

orangefizz · 25/07/2010 20:11

Congrats to all the new babies - a sudden rush it seems and so many boys! Good name too Becky .
I haven't been on much either recently, I am finding not much time with Sam bfing every 2 - 3 hours day and night as well as dealing with a toddler who seems to be having classic displacement symptoms eg attention seeking when i feed the baby and not letting daddy do bathtime etc its very wearing esp. when tired. hoping she'll settle down soon...

spirael re the mum and baby cinema, i went a few times with DD. you had to leave prams outside screen but i always took carseat in and put on seat next to me. everyone just feeds etc when needed and yes you use changing facilities if you have to during film, but i always went with a friend so she would look after my stuff while i was outside. hth

anyone else bfing find that LO has a 'feeding frenzy' as i call it at one point in the day? Sam will feed constantly for about 1.5 - 2 hours crying if i put him down in between and seems quite windy at the same time. its ok if in the day but horrible if at night...

hope everyone has had a good w/e...

kapars · 25/07/2010 20:39

orangefizz Yasmin's feeding frenzies can last for hours! Sometimes she pops on for a five minute drink and will go back to sleep and then other times like today she will feed on and off for four to five hours with 15 min to 30 min breaks. Though she has now been sleeping for three hours which is why I have managed to get on here.....

Apparently it gets much easier after 6 to 8 weeks after which time it is a breeze!

kk we're trying rileigh without the dentinox etc as i don't want her to be reliant on meds, who knows if it will work but we'll see lol

I have had a headache from last night, its not shifting with pain killers, someone said its hormone related anyone else had this? Also a bit angry at dp today he agreed to go back to work early without even speaking to me first. He goes back tomorrow and like the rest of you i'm a bit scared. Also worried i'l be isolated because i'm not meant to drive for another 3wks. How have the rest of you got on? X

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/07/2010 09:16

Morning all,

DP went back to work today, he cried before he left he really didnt want to go. Then I broke down in floods of tears after he'd left, I had such a bad night last night. Dylan woke at 2am and was so unsettled from then on, think I fell asleep for a bit with him on my chest but then he wouldnt sleep in his moses basket and would make this weird noise which sounded like he was straining really hard. This went on the rest of the night with me picking him at various intervals for a feed which he didnt really want.
I tried swaddling and stroking his head and saying sshhh but nothing worked and I think I got about an hours sleep
Im really struggling and dont know how I can cope with the endless nights of no sleep.

grumpypumpkin · 26/07/2010 09:17

Morning everyone
Well I am now officially next on the list to have a baby! Congrats to the new mummies.
Have been a bit at no appearance or sign of so far, but am soldiering on. Will be induced Friday if no appearance before, which I had hoped to avoid but hey ho.
Lovely to read all the new mummy stories, hoping I can join you soon in conversations about sleep, boobs, piles and poos!!
