dh a pillowcase fits a moses basket mattress perfectly, just tuck in the excess. No need to buy fitted sheets if you don't want to.

chulita thats a good tip for moses basket!
emsiero a trace of protein in urine isnt anything to worry about, mine was clear for 1st time in about 3 months last week it was +2 its when it goes high they will give you blood tests so dont panic! also on the home birth front my friend had hers the other week and the night she started none of mw's in her area were on call and she had my mw attend which is next area along so she had never seen her, so in our area of country there is only a small chance you would get one of your mw's i suppose you have to decide what you would feel comfortable with as you need to be able to relax, my friend said it didnt bother her as her birthplan was minimal intervention so mw just sat there until she crowned.

orangefizz · 29/06/2010 18:37

Marking my place...
Congratulations WWSW wow that was a quick labour, hope you and LO are all good. Edward is our boys middle name too

I wonder who'll be next? Feels a bit like wheel of fortune, who's it going to stop on next?

On one hand I can't wait to have the baby, on the other hand I feel I should be making the most of undisturbed evenings and relatively peaceful nights. My friend that has a 4-day old says she forgot that newborns don't sleep much at night lol.

MW for me tomorrow, hoping i'll get booked in for a sweep next week sometime if nothing's happened before then...

Hope you all have a good evening

Gracie123 · 29/06/2010 18:42

Great tip on the pillow case chulita. I will store that one in my brain for later!

Emsie are there any '+'s after the protein in urine? If it's just a trace it's probably nothing to worry about. '+' is a bit more than trace, '++' is worse and '+++' means there is a lot. TBH it usually means
i) urine infection
ii) bit of discharge was in the sample - did you wipe before you peed?
iii) if it's +++ it might be more serious, but I doubt it as your MW would have said something if she was concerned.

Jojobil · 29/06/2010 18:50

Congrats WWSW! Frank was born today at 11.15am! 4 kg and 54 cm. He is gorgeous;) I'm on my iPhone so can not go through all the posts properly at the moment;) xxx

Congratulations jojo been thinking of you. Frank is a great name

memphis83 · 29/06/2010 19:01

congratulations jojo and welcome to the world baby Frank!!!

DeeLite · 29/06/2010 19:04

Well done, wwsw. Sounds like you breezed through it. All tips gratefully received when your feet hit the ground.

Hey Melissa, I probably should be on the quieter thread as I struggle to keep up with this one but it's easier now I'm on maternity leave and worthwhile as there's going to be lots more exciting action and news here over the next few weeks!

DeeLite · 29/06/2010 19:06

Ah, I posted in the wrong place - had only seen page 1 of the posts! Congratulations Jojo. Frank is a very sweet name. My friend's baby is called Frank and he is adorable.

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/06/2010 19:11

Congrats jojo! Glad you got your cs early on in the day

Right, hoovered the downstairs, scrubbed the kitchen floor, now just need to make up mil and sil's beds and I can put my feet up. Need to hoover upstairs but DD's in bed 'asleep' so don't want to bother. Our house is so demoralising to clean - the carpets are so stained you can't tell when you've hoovered, the kitchen was installed back in the 70's and the lino is so old/scratched/stained that scrub as I might it never looks clean. I'd love my own house just so I can replace stuff when it looks old and crap. And DH wonders why I can't get motivated to polish things...

Congratulations jojo!!!

Emster30 · 29/06/2010 19:55

Congratulations jojo!

It's all go now isn't it - how exciting!

I had a growth scan today and everything is fine - the estimated weight is 6lb14oz so on about the 72nd percentile (am 36+2).

stac14 · 29/06/2010 20:01

Congrats jojo on baby Frank, he's a good weight eh? How are you? All good I hope

dh it actually cooled down a bit here but it rained most of the night, for the first time in weeks I actually felt a bit cold, think it is just going to get warmer again though

chulita dp seems to be taking pride in the housework at the moment, well the bits you can see but think its because he helped clean it. Wish ds was the same

I have the hospital tomorrow for the begining of my steriod injections, which tbh I am questioning ehy I need then as I was term on saturday and she will only be 3 days off 39wks when she is born. Just have to wait and see, I have saw so many consultants recently I am begining to wonder who's decided what lol. Anyway I get the first injections tomorrow then return on thursday and they will keep me in for obs as the steroids make blood sugar levels shoot up. (sorry for rant)

Cant wait to see who's next xx

Congratulations to Violet, WWSW & Jojo!!!! Loving the names and looking forward to hearing more about them!

It is really lovely to start hearing about these gorgeous new arrivals after being on here dreaming about them for so long!

I still feel like my due date is a million years away..and I am big and hot and really wishing I had started maternity leave earlier. I finish on Friday but our office aircon isn't working and its is unbearable. 3 days to go....

Friends threw me a baby shower on Sunday which was really lovely. We have been ever so lucky and have lots of adorable things for our little one...made me v emotional when I got home!

Quick question...have you all sorted out nursing bras? Went to mothercare but for the second time they had no one there who could help and Debenhams and M&S were of no use either (got slightly teary in there after trekking around in the heat and getting fed up of getting no where..assistant looked terrified I was going to have a full meltdown! )

grumpypumpkin · 29/06/2010 21:30

Hello everyone

First things first!! massive congrats to violet, WWSW and Jojo!!
Can't believe that the babies are starting to arrive now!

Sympathies to all those struggling with piles, the heat, partners, housework etc... I am struggling with the worlds worst cankles!

But it does now feel like the end is in sight, if only we knew when it would be and what it would look like!

Take care everyone and rest up and sleep while you can, I have a feeling we soon be wishing we had made the most of this time. On the other hand, I keep feeling that I should go out and do nice social things as it won't always be this easy...

randomama · 29/06/2010 21:38

I went to Boots earlier - they have 3 for 2 on essential oils, so I got Clary Sage, Lavender and Tea Tree, all have now been added to my wash bag, though I don't suppose I'll need Tea Tree until I get home. Just had a lavender bath - hoping that will help me sleep tonight.

I think Viksam was asking about 2nd stage labour - when you get the urge to push there really isn't anything going to stop you! I was told to push through contractions, and I found that scary, but it was fine actually, not painful - when the baby crowns it does hurt, but when the body slithers out it is the most amazing feeling of relief You'll be shattered, but it will be fine.

I realised I left breastpads off my bag list - I found Johnsons the best, they are silky smooth on sore boobies

Firerise poor you trapsing round shops to come back empty handed in this heat! I got mine online - I'm too small to be able to buy anything locally - ordered a few sizes off Bravissimo and sent back the ones that didn't fit. Mothercare is utterly rubbish at the mo imo - we spent ages waiting to be served in there buying a car seat on Sat - I think the sales assistants hide from customers. If you can face going to Oxford the staff in Bravissimo are fantastic, you can book an appointment for Saturdays, they will work out your size then go fetch suitable bras - very civilised.

kapars · 29/06/2010 22:42

Just posted this on the old thread then realised there's a new one.

Not had time to catch up. My waters have broken (leaking since middle of night) Just been into hospital. if labour doesn't establish overnight I have to be induced in the morning.

See you on the other side!!!! xx

GlastonburyGoddess · 29/06/2010 23:02

congratulations jojo!!!

How exciting kapars, hope things start naturally for you tonight x
