Hello;) I hope your stay goes ok stac ;) still in hospital, they might let me out today. I do hope they give me some very strong pain killers though as I am swollen and it hurts! All worth it though - frank is gorgeous ;) dd is reacting very well to him! And dh seems to be coping. I hope you are all well! Xxx

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/07/2010 08:54

Morning all,

stac hope your hospital stay improves, cant be nice being sleep deprived BEFORE your LO gets here lol.

Nothing exciting happening for me today, well unless I suddenly go into labour which I really doubt!

Going to see my friend as we both need to go to the council offices and thats about it!

Hope other people have a more interesting day, also very jealous of you who already have your babies, I really cant wait for mine now!

stac14 · 01/07/2010 08:59

viksam i'm on my mobile hun. Your allowed phones and ds but in this hospital i don't think your allowed laptop. Brekki was boring. I've to get 2 more injections so here at least until tomorrow, sugars seem quite good at the moment so fingers crossed they stay that way. Aw hun your sis must drive you mad like my aunt does. Think its forgotten that your in the midst of trying to change all aspects of your life for your baby. I get quite fed up as everyones different and you will be sorted when it suits you. Maybe she will come and be more helpful hun. Hope visit with hv goes well x

jojo you will feel much better in your own house. What pain relief do you get? Is there a chance they would keep you longer due to pain? Just curious as mine is next week unless my backache developes. Cant wait to see pics of frank when you get a chance

dh i know its a pain, but i'l go for a sleep before dp comes up. Bet by the time you have finished at the council you'l want back to the settee. Hows your weather? Ours is rather wet x

viksam · 01/07/2010 09:22

stac i hope ur right about sis, she is lovely really but i wonder(know) that she is finding things hard as she had to have a hystorectomy at 37 and she has no children so i can imagine its very hard for her and she is putting on a brave face although she wont talk about it. Very difficult all round really.
Good that weather is wet whilst ur is hospital, i guess that means its cooled down. Its still boiling hot and sunny here and very draining.

Jojo lets hope you get home today, hows feeding going? Are u getting much attention from midwives, have they showed u how to wash the baby?

mylife Hmmm that sounds very challenging, i have no words of wisdom im sorry, i just do feel for u though, im sure u'll find something to do.

DH I hope my day stays nice and quiet, i did loads yesterday so gona get HV out the way and then get the guest room ready then do big fat nothing!!!

Jojobil · 01/07/2010 09:43

stac I hope not ;) I have not seen anyone today yet... viksam no they have not but I am a second time mum so I know how to breastfeed him and change him etc... I am just cleaning him with cotton wool and water at the moment until the belly button comes of. He is doing very well bf and pooing and sleeping ;) they put me in a separate room with my own shower too so got some more sleep last night! I can't complain. Hope you girls have a good day. Xxx

kkfairybrains · 01/07/2010 09:43

morning ladies!
jojo lovely to hear from you! hope ur feeling relatively ok and cant wait to see pics of your little munchkin!
stac oh god that lack of sleep cant be good especially when your not in your own surroundings.at least you've no housework or anything to be worrying about and you've no choice but to relax!what time is dp coming?
vik thats crap about your sis. you'll just have to take everything she says with a pinch of salt because as you say she's probably suffering silently and this is her way of dealing with it.
mlic hope your day gets easier!
well i was awake half the night again last night. worrying about my friend who's in a difficult situation to say the least. it'll all work itself out though hopefully. no big plans today.have antenatal class at 2.last one! its the tour of the maternity unit so looking forward to seeing whats what. xx

Gracie123 · 01/07/2010 09:46

Stac I had injections with DS because I went into early labour at 32 weeks (which then stopped ) but was told if we managed to get past 37 I wouldn't need them?

I'm hoping that isn't just a Cumbria thing because I don't want to get down to Bedford and be told that I need them again! I'd rather just have the baby here, 24 hours before we move!!

Don't fancy moving with LO, but can't face all those injection either.

Glad they are clued up about your injection Re: sugar level. When I had my injections, they came around the next day saying I needed more blood tests for GD because there was glucose in my urine. When I pointed out 'surely that's because you just pumped me full of steroids?' the nurses all looked very confused. I insisted on speaking to a dr, who laughed and said I was right. Couldn't believe they were trying to give me more needles for no bloody good reason!! Especially a it had taken diazepam, two nurses and DH to hold me down for the steroids!

Emster30 · 01/07/2010 10:09

Hope they let you go soon stac, and that time speeds up for you Gracie! Sounds like your DS is doing really well at helping you!

I am off to our local NCT monthly coffee morning today (held in my local pub!). I'm a bit nervous about it but I'm going with my neighbour and her 2.11 year old and 8 month old so at least I don't have to go all alone. I just hope people don't think I'm weird for going along when I don't even have a baby yet.

Then I have to go to Ilford and get some photocopying done, take some stuff back to Milletts and maybe see if I can get fitted for nursing bras in M&S. I also need to go to Boots for a few bits and bobs.

Then I have choir practice tonight. So a busy day all in all!

nixster28 · 01/07/2010 10:33

Hi all, not posted in a few days as very busy trying to get new home sorted. Gettin a bit frustrated with myself tho as i just cant do it all as my mind is willing but my body's just not able!!
Stripped all the wallpaper but have no energy to start painting yet.
Saw midwife today and LO is 2/5ths engaged so she agreed that i'm probably not going to last another 2 weeks til due date
stac hope they let you go home soon, cant understand why they are giving you steroids tbh.
gracie in bedford if you make it to 37 weeks then no need for steroids as baby considered term so dont panic if LO not here by the time you move. sorry to hear you're in so much pain.
well i guess i better get on and do a bit more sorting it's time like these i wish i had a big family to help out or a boyfriend who actually lives in the same country!!!!

Gracie123 · 01/07/2010 10:44

Sorry we don't live there yet nix, otherwise I'd offer DH services over the weekend to help you out! He'd probably have DS in tow though and it might not actually be very helpful...

don't worry too much. LO won notice the colours of the walls!

viksam · 01/07/2010 10:51

emster just quickly before u go out hopefully. Go to M&S first, they might have to book u in for a fitting so u could do the rest of ur jobs in between!!

viksam · 01/07/2010 11:02

Also emster NCT coffee morning sounds good, the meetings i could have gone to have been cancelled due to lack of volenteers, i have been thinking about getting in touch and volenteering to see if we can start things back up again. It did say expectant mothers were welcome. Ur day does sound full, hope u sleep well tonight!

kk hope ur friends situation isnt bothering u too much. Ur right about my sis, my mom and I have a joke asking each other if we have taken our tolerance pills for the day when we know we are seeing her, naughty i know!!

jojo glad all is well on the feeding front, i hope they show me what to do rading about it is one thing doing it is quite another i imagine.Ace that ur is a seperate room, thats lucky.

Well im sat here waiting for the HV, she is half hour late, i guess its probably hard to keep to a schedule but its a bit annoying for me.

Gracie123 · 01/07/2010 12:52

vik I found BFing was hard only when I tried to get involved in it!

DH put DS to boob when I was still under anaesthesia and he fed himself fine. First few feeds when I woke up were fine too, I was lying down and they just put him on my chest and let him squirm to whichever side he wanted.

Once I was more awake and trying to make him latch 'right' it all started to go wrong! In the end I let him do what he wanted. It didn't look like the pictures in the books and tbh even at 4 months other people would say 'ooh! That latch doesn't look right!' but I figured he was getting milk (and plenty of it) it wasn't painful and I wasn't bleeding (unlike some of my friends) so everyone else can keep their opinions to themselves!

viksam · 01/07/2010 13:32

gracie thanks, i guess theres only one way to find out these things but it cant always be text book can it. I think u gots find ur own way.

Im so peed off. The HV hasnt been......at all, no phone call, nothing. I think thats really bad. I havent got a number for them so i phoned the docs who phoned her on my behalf and left a msg. I know she might be dealing with something really important but surley theres ways and means of letting her other appointements know, i cant be the only one she was seeing today!!!! Raaahhhhhhh!!
I just feel like someone is going to knock the door any second and i dontn want to be caught slobbing out watching TV kwim.

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/07/2010 15:41

My mw said yesterday that LOs head is completely engaged as she couldnt feel it but in my notes shes written 3/5ths engaged. I asked if he was fully engaged and she said "yeah he wont go any further down now until your in labour"
Can anyone shed any light on this? 2 weeks ago he was 3/5ths and I def think hes more engaged than that.

kkfairybrains · 01/07/2010 15:55

vik thats very bad manners not to let you know.talk about a waste of a day! hate waitin and waiting for someone to come.
dh i haven't a clue about that but if she said that he wont go down any further then thats what they must mean by fully engaged.
oh god we had the last antenatal class there wit the tour of the hospital. i cant do hospitals.dont know how im going to cope in there. went all weak and nearly fainted in the labour ward cos its just so hospitally looking .got really teary too and really need to cry still but cant get it out of me. but on the other hand we got to see 3 lovely gorgeous babies which was brill! 2 boys and 1 girl! so bloody warm in there too.my feet went blue they went so swollen.
god im a whinge today!x

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/07/2010 16:06

kk yeah thats what I thought too. Maybe it wont be too long for me then hopefully.
Im also having mine in a hospital, I havent had a tour though as Id rather not know until I get there when Im going to care less! Hope you feel better tho

stac14 · 01/07/2010 16:30

hey ladies, had 3rd dose of steroids which have made me all roasting. I agree with you all regarding having to take them but i am gestational diabetic and if they say i need them then what can i say. It doesnt do baby any harm so i may as well do as i am told makes a change for me lol.

gracie at least you know you wont need to get them where ever you live.

viks my aunt and sil dont have kids of their own and while they genuinely care they also think women can just go back into the usual housework mode even with a baby and in my case straight after a section. Well i promptly said i have a child to look after and surgery to recover from so whild i will be ensuring house is clean etc i am not running around with baby in 1 arm duster in other and sweeping thd floor with a brush up my ass lol. But i like your tolerance pill idea too.

Gracie123 · 01/07/2010 16:44

Gosh Stac! my family are all very sympathetic. Both DS and I nearly died in surgery last time, so everyone ran around us doing everything and I barely had to lift a finger!

One aunt even folded all the ends of my loo roll after ironing and folding all DS nappies that I had just chucked in a basket!

kkfairybrains · 01/07/2010 17:02

lol funny image there stac.opfully you'l cool down shortly.is the blood sugar still good?when can you go home if it stays stable?
i thought that too dh but glad i done it now cos i was expecting something completely different to be honest.dunno what i was expecting but its all green tiles on the walls and i dunno just so much machines and stuff.even visiting somebody in hospital i get all faint and have to leave. i wont have any choice but to stay though and thats whats scaring me . wonder what would happen if i actually did faint?

stac14 · 01/07/2010 17:07

gracie my aunt is usually amazing but is worried i will end up with pnd again so she is trying the keep your self going thing to try and keep me strong. So from her point of view she is helping. But she is taking 2 wks off to help with ds and do my washing etc. But sil can be a pure ass

I think i need to try and sleep, ds isnt coming to visit tonight and i am crying bout it. I don't want him upset but i am missing him loads i just want to go home. What a wooss lol

Fab news bout lo being engaged dh hope you go as soon as hun, dd isnt and by the looks of it isnt likely to haha

kk there is a huge difference between the temps on the labour wards and the wards were babies are. This room has air con which is fab. What did you do today?

mlic did you manage to get ds out?

stac14 · 01/07/2010 17:29

kk to be honest no-one has told me whats going on. The bloods dont seem extremely high but they want them below 6.7 and they are sitting between 7 and 8. Diabetic sister says it should be tomorrow but shes not allowed to tell me to go. I'll ask the mw when she comes back as its been a student i have been seeing x

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/07/2010 17:40

kk at least you'd be in the right place if you did faint! Hopefully you wont though, that wouldnt be very nice. Im ok on the whole when it comes to going to hospital so hoping Ill be ok.

stac yeah I hope so too, thats why Im quite convinced he'll either be early, on time or just a few days late, cant see me going over by 2 weeks, after saying that though I prob will now. Im trying to stay quite active though, well as active as I can be.
