Sorry can't keep up with everything

I still weigh about 10lbs less than I did before I got pregnant.

Had no appetite whatsoever and eating made me feel ill. Still not really back to normal, but not losing weight anymore.

I'm quite interested in seeing how pregnant I am before I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight!

Lorelai · 02/06/2010 14:14

Wallace; in my last pg I lost about a stone in the first trimester; by the time I gave birth I was about 7lbs over my pre-pg weight, but DD weighed 8lbs!

emu82 · 02/06/2010 17:19

So impressed with peoples minimal weight gain, I have gained a stone already and only 16 weeks!! I was weighed when I went for my blood tests at 13 weeks and was completly shocked! However very nice nurse informed me 'well dear you must eat, this is why victoria Beckham can't concieve again because she doesn't eat'!! This cheered me up and I have obviously taken it as medical advice that I need to eat at least a wispa and some cake everyday to stay healthy !!

Wallace · 02/06/2010 17:29

My problem is I have gone completely off chocolate and tea! Seeing as I used to drink a lot of tea with one (large) sugar and milk that is a lot fewer calories!

I think I put on about 3 stone with ds1 (and never did get back down to 8 stone again funnily enough...)

Themasterandmargaritas · 02/06/2010 17:40

wallace

I wondered where you had got to. CONGRATULATIONS.

cluelessnchaos · 02/06/2010 19:07

emu, I have had the same problems as you, intermittent bleeding and the found the bleed on the scan, I am 16 plus 6, not nice for either of us to go through but I had bleeding from outside the placenta with dd2 and she is a lovely 9 year old now so I am slowly getting my confidence back now.

nomoremagnolia · 02/06/2010 19:24

I too have been eating what I fancy when I fancy as well as three meals a day, but I find I can't eat as much at meal times as I used to, so maybe overall calorie consumption is evened out a bit? I'd like to think so having eaten some fresh cream cake at lunchtime! I have only gained about 5 lbs and am worried it's not enough! Going to ask m/w at my next appointment.
Anyone else not really thought about the birth yet? I'm under consultant led care at the moment (because it's an ivf pg there are increased risks of premature birth) so I'm not even sure if the decision of where to give birth will even be mine to make. I'm playing it by ear at the moment to be honest and it seems so far away I can't get myself 'worried' enough to plan it! Crazy as I'm already planning maternity leave and how we'll manage to attend a wedding 3 weeks after my due date but can't seem to think about the birth. It's like a mental black hole!
I'm at bit and at the midwife's comment about Victoria Beckham - I thought she had PCOS? Regardless of which I would never 'blame' a woman's diet for her infertility, it's way more complicated than that! If it was a case of eat sensibly and you'll get pg why the hell do people like me have to go through ivf?

Wallace · 02/06/2010 19:41

Hi master you found me I'm just back from a run, so still plodding along!

llandb · 02/06/2010 19:45

Oh dear, I'm one of those irritating people who has aversions to everything (except sugar and canned onion soup - guess what's for dinner) and slightly loses weight in pg.

But never fear, I gained nearly two stone with bf and no doubt shall do so again!

That's funny, Wallace, I was right off tea with last pgs (with DD up until 39 weeks, and a mc). Had never heard of anyone (except those with hyperemesis) with an aversion to cuppas before! But this time round, although still off most tea, I'm swigging the green stuff all day long. Will tell MIL it's herbal, which is true really, as tea is a herb, just as chocolate and sugar are fruit and veg.

harmony I second ignoring MIL. (Unless she is the hijacky, cherry-picky, barging in and railroading the show at first crack of weakness, type - aunt of mine like that drives me bonkers - in which case, in retrospect, a firm 'I'm really looking forward to doing it later' or something might work better ) You have months left and the things you fancy might be discounted at some stage!

nomore You with a bonkers MW too? (Not mine; others'). I think some people are just off on one and it strikes across the board - some of 'em just happen to be MWs Hope you get some answers and a good birth experience regardless of how/where it happens

Think DP wants computer and PIL arriving tomorrow (not staying with us but will be here all day every day and will be too knackered/rushed after hours) so don't know when I'll next MN.

So, er, toodle-pip, flumps, and may you all kick and turn properly bumpy!

Rinnyx · 02/06/2010 19:51

All I want to eat is junk and fast food haha
DP is not impressed as he is all fruit and greens kind of person even before I fell with this one.
I dont think I will put on weight in this pg, same as when I had DD as I even had the nurse put me on a diet last year for putting on weight even DP couldnt believe it failed
Being small is not all its cracked up to be

Is anyone being driven mad by all these sales and bargains in the shops?
I have seen some lovely sale baby stuff in boots, mothercare, etc but its all boy or girl stuff so I cant even buy afew things to put away.....lets hope baby will let us see what it is, only about 3 weeks to go

nagoo · 02/06/2010 20:12

Hi all, I'm sorry to crash at this late stage!

I am 16wks with DC2 and have had to stay off the antenatal threads as have been in denial at work where I do my MNing!

Can someone tell me how I can be a bit fat biffer with massive stomach and have only gained 2 kgs!?

Last time I put on over 4st (stopped weighing myself after 34 weeks). I got my maternity clothes out of the loft and felt like weeping. I'm afraid of the bras in particular.

emu82 · 02/06/2010 20:33

nomore, Its ok to rant I think nurse was only joking about Victoria Beckham as I was very nervous about being weighed. I really thought I would get a telling off for gaining what I think is a lot of weight and found it amusing that she thinks all pregnant women should do is eat eat and eat!!

cluelessnchaos I have never experienced bleeding during my previous 2 pregnancies and found it so scary this time, I immediatly thought the worst. I will find out at my 20 wk scan if the heamorrage has been absorbed by my body or as I had a heavier bleed 2 weeks ago it may have dispersed. My mw did say I may experience further bleeding but the more I feel bubba move (which I have felt for sure the last few days) I feel more confident. It is always reasureing to know others that have experienced similar problems with happy outcomes so thank you.

JFly · 02/06/2010 21:07

llandb that is great news! Interestingly, I was told that the consultant wanted an "early" 20 week scan, so I have an appt at 19 weeks. It was supposed to be 18 weeks but consultant is now away. I had read about placental health issues with high HCG but when I asked what the levels might mean, they were a bit vague. They seemed to be more concerned with growth restriction, hence the early scan.

If everything's OK at 19 weeks, they won't offer further scans. But if consultant feels it's necessary, they may do a growth scan at 28-32 weeks.

Will be interesting to see how they approach our care.

hmmSleep · 02/06/2010 22:03

Welcome nagoo! JFly they think it was the placenta that caused problems in my first pregnancy, (gorgeous little 4yr old girl now), so in my second pregnancy I was given 6, yes 6! scans, even though there were absolutely no signs of any problems! I'm very interested to see what the consultant will say this time, especially as I had a problem free pregnancy and birth with ds.

I have no idea how much weight I've gained, I don't own weighing scales and apart from at my booking in appointment I've never been weighed in any of my pregnancies. Think I put on about 2 and a half stone in my previous pregnancies.

llandb congrats on the CVS result - it must be a relief to know everything is normal

sabie I've been getting lots of pains down my sides for the past week. If I let my bladder get full then they are much worse as well. I think it's just stretching, but at times it's so bad I can't find a comfortable position at all.

Your food lists are all so healthy! I am basically eating the three meals a day I always had but now having snacks as well. I try and snack on fruit and veg but it never fills me up! I've now adopted a policy of eating a piece of fruit and having a glass of water when I get hungry, then waiting half an hour. If I'm still hungry then I'll cave and have some cake

I weighed myself this morning, and I seem to have gained 2kgs in the last week . I think that gives me a total weight gain of around 5kgs. It all seems to be in my flump/boobs though, as my clothes all still fit the rest of my body

Ebb · 03/06/2010 10:38

Landb Congrats on your CVS results. Must be a huge relief. Thanks for your comments re. my mw and her comments. The MW I had with DS was lovely. Grandma type and so down to earth but she retired the week I had Ds. This MW I just don't gel with at all. I think she's just straight talking but not terribly tactful. In my last pregnancy she came round to my house to drop off a leaflet about the OSCAR (nt scan) on a Sunday! That's how pro she is that women have it. I told her in that pregnancy that I wasn't sure I'd contemplate a termination due to Downs and she said, "Well you only ever hear about the ones who aren't too bad, you don't hear about the ones in homes." Maybe she has personal experience of Downs. I don't know. Anyway I mc'd that pregnancy so I knew what to expect this time round.

Looopy I can't believe your mw's comments about your diet! I have done nothing but eat in this pregnancy and am looking a right lard cake! With Ds I went off sweets and chocolate and lost weight in the first 12wks. This time round all I want to do is eat junk. Eating was the only thing that seemed to relieve the permenant nausea. I am definately going to have a lot to lose when I have this one which sucks as I have no will power whatsoever!

Harmony I can't believe your MIL is asking is you've bought stuff yet? Unless she's waiting for you to buy something and then she'll be able to start buying too.... I didn't buy anything for Ds until after 20wks.

Delhibelly Fetal echo's aren't standard in the UK. I'm having one on the 14th because Ds has an aortic stenosis. So far he's been totally unaffected by this but he will need an op eventually and will need a valve in his heart replaced at some stage but the Consultant hopes not until adulthood. He'll need the valve 'stretched' before then though. I'm glad I'm having the echo as it's a far more detailed view of the heart than the anomoly scan. I'm hoping ( obviously) that it's fine as I'm not sure how I'll cope with the guilt of having had two children with heart defects.

I doubt I'll buy much at all for this baby. If it's a boy, it'll have all Ds's clothes ( although DS was May baby so some stuff will be out of season ) and if it's a girl, my old boss is saving all her daughters clothes. She was a Nov baby so perfect. I'm also going to borrow her really nice bouncy chair. We had a fairly cheap one for Ds and he hated it. Actually he hated anywhere apart from my arms for the first 6mths. The test said 30% girl but don't mind either way. I'd find it a lot easier to name a girl. Boys names I'll really struggle with.

Took Ds to Drayton Manor yesterday and he loved Thomas Land. Dp took him on the 'faster' things and I did the sedate rides. I love rollercoasters so was very jealous. We got stuck on the M42 on the way home though due to an accident and didn't get home til 10pm! Ds was still awake and so good. Bless him!

balijay · 03/06/2010 11:06

Morning and welcome nagoo!

Right, I finally have a pregnancy related question - anyone else experiencing early braxton hicks?? I am just about 16 weeks - surely this is far too early? I have had several days where my little bump has gone rock hard and while not painful I am certainly aware they are happening and I am a little I didn't have them until the very end with my other pregnancies so what on earth is going on? Not due to see midwife until 10th Jun, soooo - answers on a postcard please

Mibby · 03/06/2010 16:13

Had my '16week' midwife app this morning (although I'm 17 +3) and all is well Got to hear baby's heartbeat which was nice and the midwife doesnt seem worried that I've not put much weight on so all is looking good

Wallace · 03/06/2010 17:46

That's lovley, Mibby

balijay - yes I've been having BHs for a week or two (I'm 15 weeks)

Ebb - my dd had a VSD (hole in heart) repaired surgically at 18 months so I'm getting an extra scan at 24 weeks. Not specifically a fetal echo though (don't think they do them at our hosp )

Was trying to catch up with everyone but there has just been a scream from the garden!

blondecat · 03/06/2010 17:52

Went of sweets although a bit back on now here

But huge ravings for salty and spicy. And every two weeks or so I hit Burger King for a bacon double cheesburger... And then there is the occasional pizza... or hot dog

So I can't say I'm super healthy but maybe not too bad ;)

comtessa · 03/06/2010 20:24

Mmmm, pizza!

cluelessnchaos · 04/06/2010 09:03

I got a letter yesterday telling me i had increased risk of neural tube defects, grrrr. Spoke to lovely midwife at the hospital who said my levels were slightly high and for some reason women who have had episodes of bleeding give increased readings but she wanted to give me an additional scan on monday, so i will be having 3 scans in 4 weeks and guess what dh will miss them all just like the last 3, he is actually home more than he is away but you wouldnt belive it the way things have happened.

grinningbee · 04/06/2010 09:23

Morning all!

I'm hoping the message I type will actually appear today. Have tried a few times recently only for it to disappear into a black hole...

umf I asked the mw at my 16 wk appt for tips on avoiding a back to back birth this time, and the only thing she suggested was being on all fours later on in pregnancy. For how long/how regular I have no idea!

Smokeybacon yes, I was on a pg after mc/ knicker checking thread a while ago

16 + 6 or 17 + 1 today, and still no movements. The mw couldn't find the heartbeat on Tuesday and I am a little worried but know they can't always find it. I do have flab to get through and also a very large fibroid, but all the same... actually, did anyone else find the 16 wk appt a bit of a waste of time?

All that happened was a bp check, wee check (which I was handed back to get rid of!) and that was it. Now I'm in limbo until the end of the month when the next scan is...

For the record I've put on about 6lbs so far, and put on about 1.5 stone with dd. Mind you, it fell off the week following her exit! Like last time I seem to have developed a scone habit, but I can barely eat in the evenings anymore as I get full so fast. Weird.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the sunshine, and glad some are feeling the little kicks. Wish I was!

grinningbee · 04/06/2010 09:25

Oh Clueless is there anyone else who can go with you? It's sods law sometimes, isn't it.

Good luck with the scan on Monday

Babybean1 · 04/06/2010 10:12

Hi everyone

Sorry not posted for a while.....really not sure where the time is going at the mo! Lost you for a while aswel

Had my bloods done at 16 weeks and result on tues came back to say a risk of 1 in 6200 for downs so was happy with that. Really looking forward to 20 week scan now on 16th June and will then start buying goodies

Feeling little flutters but not all of the time so nice when i do feel them!

Have put on about 8lb so far (am 18+2) which seems about normal. Feel huge now tho and dread to think how im going to feel by Nov!

My SIL is due 20th June and is MASSIVE! She had to go in for a scan on tuesday as the baby is breech, but apparently she had too much fluid and the baby is led cross ways so they kept her in! They've said that if her waters break before the baby turns, she could give birth to the umbilical first which in her words would mean 'game over'! Not a nice position to be in, and think shes pretty fed up already. She's in a hot stuffy room on her own where the TV doesnt work and doesnt see anyone for hours on end. Just hoping mine will be a bit smoother than that! She could be in for a long wait! With 3 other children as well its not ideal.

Sorry ive not had chance to comment back on peoples post and its all been 'me me me'....feel like i should start again as ive missed loads and wouldnt want to miss anyone out!

Oh but thanks hmm for sorting out my 'bump' pic....was secretly hoping you'd be around

Have a nice weekend all
