Great minds think alike hmmSleep! Or else we're just both so wishing for our flumps to materialise into bumps in order to shame people into giving us their seats on public transport!

Rinnyx · 26/05/2010 09:41

Wow new thread already, what abunch of chatter boxes we are

hmmSleep · 26/05/2010 10:15

I've found one way of making my flump more bump like is stuffing myself full of food to pad it out , unfortunately I think this tactic will backfire and lead to a much larger postnatal flump!

OP posts:
PrivetDancer · 26/05/2010 10:27

my flump looks like a proper bump when I'm standing up, but whenIi sit down it squishes out and shows itself in its true colours of actually just being a big fat stomach!

hmmSleep · 26/05/2010 10:31

I know exactly what you mean Privet, Dh says I'm very 'comfy' at the moment .

Have bought my first pair of maturity trousers, they keep falling down!

Ebb · 26/05/2010 10:35

LOL Privet! That sounds just like mine!

I'm seeing the midwife this afternoon and will hopefully hear the heartbeat. I'm not relaxing into this pregnancy and can't visualise having a baby at the end of it. I'm sure it'll all be fine but can't help worrying.

I have a fetal echo in June and really hoping that it will show nothing is wrong with baby's heart. Maybe after that I'll relax! If I get the all clear then I can have the birthing suite. If not I'm guessing I'll have to go under a consultant and possibly need a c-sect depending on severity of baby's heart. Fingers crossed hey!

I have yet another cold...... Ds has been covered in a really bad heat rash for the last few days which is finally going now it's cooled down slightly. The joys of motherhood!

shoppingstar · 26/05/2010 10:49

Loving the thread title! and hope everyone suffering with colds is feeling better soon.

Booboobedoo · 26/05/2010 10:52

Good title. I'm sure that by the end of this thread we'll all be sporting fine, firm, sticky-out bumps.

Ebb - I know what you mean about not being able to visualise having a baby at the end of the pregnancy, although I don't have your specific worry. Do you know when in June your foetal echo is?

My flump still goes in a bit where my waist used to be, which means that the bottom section still just looks squishy.

DS has eaten two slices of toast this morning and hasn't been sick, which feels like a massive breakthrough. Feels like the end may be in sight!

I know it's pathetic, but I was in floods of tears on DH last night. I don't cope well with isolation.

I think it's because of my A.N.D in my last pregnancy - I really rely on at least a little social contact every day to keep me grounded.

Booboobedoo · 26/05/2010 10:53

Oh - good point.

Sending 'get better' vibes to the cold sufferers.

Ebb · 26/05/2010 11:01

Booboobedo The fetal echo is on June 14th. Ds's condition wasn't diagnosed until he was 9mths old and he is so active and full of energy that I sometimes forget he has a problem. We're seeing Ds's cardiologist at the end of June for his routine review. I'm sure it'll be ' see you again in 6mths' as no signs of problems but he gets an ECG and an echo and obviously that may show something different. I fully trust the Consultant though which helps.

smokeybacon · 26/05/2010 14:07

Just been sent home from work. Had what can only be described as a funny turn. Felt all faint , things swam in front of my eyes, sweaty and flushed. Most odd. Hope it was a one off as did not enjoy it! Anyone else had this?

tanmu82 · 26/05/2010 14:16

hello ladies! Haven't been on for a while, and haven't read old thread for ages so am totally out of date.....

anyway, anyone else felt their baby move yet? I started feeling mine about a week ago, and am now feeling movement every day. It really is amazing and getting stronger and more frequent by the day!

Sickness is pretty much gone except for if I get hungry, but tredness is back. I have been mega busy with work - flying to Europe and stressing over travel and visa arrangements for a trip I'm organising....anyway, hope everyone is feeling good and enjoying the better weather!

umf · 26/05/2010 14:21

Wow, smokey, how retro! Call your midwife or GP? Blood pressure and iron levels check? I've never had that while pg but sounds similar to my collapses as an anaemic teenager. Also friendamine gets v low blood pressure in mid-pg and goes like that. Would definitely get self checked.

potbellybear · 26/05/2010 14:43

Hi Smokeybacon, I fainted last Thursday morning at about 1am (going back to bed after popping to the loo). My doctor said my blood pressure was very low and checked a urine sample and it turned out I had a urinary tract infection. So this maybe just your blood pressure. It maybe best to phone your midwife anyway.

hmmSleep · 26/05/2010 16:07

Glad your ds is on the up Booboobedoo. tammu82, I'm 18 weeks now and still haven't felt any movement, am most .

Smokey, I get faint and dizzy when pregnant, at last check my blood pressure was 110/60, which is on the lowish side, so I put it down to that. I think it's why they missed my pre-eclampsia for so long in my first pregnancy. My blood pressure didn't appear that high compared to average, but for me it was really high! Might be worth checking with the GP or midwife?

hi all ive been feeling movement for about 2 weeks now and it is happening all the time .It just makes everything seem real now .xx

Ebb · 26/05/2010 16:31

I feel a bit flat after my mw appointment. Apparently they don't listen to the heartbeat now til 18wks. I'm 16+4 and I don't see the mw again now until 28wks which seems forever!

The mw took blood for the triple test but struggled with my 'thin veins' and I now have a big, hard lump where she was jabbing around. She asked me what I would do if I was high risk for downs so I said I'm think about an amnio. Then she asked if I would terminate if I was carrying a downs baby. I said that wasn't a decision I could make at the moment or on my own. I mean I don't know how I'd cope with a downs child or how I'd cope having a late termination. Hopefully I'll never have to make that choice.

Smokey I hope you are feeling better and would definately agree with the others to get checked out to be on the safe side.

I haven't felt the baby move. Still early days. I didn't feel Ds til gone 20wks.

potbellybear · 26/05/2010 16:32

Hi All

My sickness and backache and tender boobs have all gone, they were like my safety blanket. I miss them, and am abit worried since my fainting so I asked if I paid for a scan could I have one just for re-assurance and the RUH in bath said no, why is the NHS so rubbish, there are plenty of women willing to pay for a scan between 12 and 20 weeks. No wonder the NHS has no money if they're not prepared to think outside the norm

Rinnyx · 26/05/2010 16:45

Ebb did you ask MW to try or did they say no?
I asked yesterday and was told about the cant do it till 19wk+ and not going back till 28 weeks but thankfully she was nice and had a try, HB was no very loud but we heard it

Also good luck on the triple test results, I had it done also and should get results in 1 - 2 weeks x

Ebb · 26/05/2010 16:57

Rinnyx They told me they no longer listen until 18wks. My mw with Ds checked at 16wks so I was really excited/nervous about hearing it today. Still I have a scan at 18wks so will see.

Potbellybear There is a Babybond in Cirencester if you want a private scan. I think they're about £100 though. I'm sure everything is fine but I know what you mean about wanting reassurance.

potbellybear · 26/05/2010 17:14

Thanks Ebb,I'll look into that.

Rinnyx my M/W said they won't listen until after 16 weeks.

shoppingstar · 26/05/2010 18:42

smokey I agree with the likely low BP but would prob get BP check, urine dip etc anyway

I understand the disappointment Ebb - 28 weeks does seem like ages away but maybe the 2 week count down to scan can cheer you up?!

I have been wondering if I felt "bubbles" type movements for a while but last night felt a different much stronger movement and then lots of movements. Although I'm obviously pleased I was a bit upset at how freaked out I felt. I'm sure I'll get used to it but its a bit of a strange sensation and i ended up in tears

blondecat · 26/05/2010 18:52

Definitely bloated more than bumped at the moment as wearing jeans. But in summer dress a definite bump could be seen and prouldy displayed.

Does everyone else also cannot resist stroking said bump? I keep touching mine all the time. It's almost a reflex

hmmSleep · 26/05/2010 18:54

Another thing that seems to differ depending on where you live. My Midwives listened for heartbeat at my booking in appointment at 12 weeks, and at my 16 week check. They did warn that they might find it hard to find it, but it appeared to be the norm here.

OP posts:
Pidgin · 26/05/2010 19:04

Smokey I have only ever fainted when not pg, but then it was because of missing lunch and being a bit under the weather, I think. Low bp sounds more likely cause now though. Hope you feel OK.

Ebb that's a shame you didn't get to hear the heartbeat, but it could be a good thing in a way - the midwife couldn't find the heartbeat at my 16-week scan last week, and it's been worrying me ever so slightly since. In fact yesterday I bought an Angelsounds device from amazon (thanks for the link nomoremagnolia!) to listen for myself, so we'll see how that goes when it arrives. No movements here either.

Boo glad to hear your DS is a bit better. I know what you mean about the social contact. I work from home quite a lot and definitely get gibbery when I don't have enough contact with another person! Not pathetic to have a cry now and then either.
