Welcome money

Congrats to everyone with scan news! I love reading your updates, just got to wait til thurs for mine.

Well I have been completely lazy the last 2 days - my mum lives/works somewhere which has a private outdoor pool so DS and DD have spent the whole time in the water while I have "supervised" (drank cool drinks/read books) by the side. It was bliss!

Sorry to those with cramps - sounds painful. Anyone have any idea what causes this?

balijay · 26/06/2010 19:35

Sorry monkey K is a bit tempramental on my laptop!

cluelessnchaos · 27/06/2010 08:20

Someone told me to eat more bananas to prevent cramps, not sure if it's caused by dehydration too I had terrible cramps in other pregnancies but not this one yet, scan tommorow am

umf · 27/06/2010 11:00

tiany ouch, yes, I had those calf cramps last time, but not this time. No idea why. Remarkably painful.

Rinnyx · 27/06/2010 14:47

How are we all doing today ladies, no one melting yet?
I feel I may, yesterday I went to Cambridge, I have no idea how I managed but wanting more and more to go swimming again haha just need to find a swim top and were I can swim in norwich

Oh anyone got the TESCO pampers hamper yet? I got mine today, smller than I thought but got 2 more packs of baby wipes and more vouchers for money off nappies and stuff, what can I say I love my freebies haha, just a shame all the boys stuff I was looking at in there they had no 0-3 months, sods laws...

hmmSleep · 27/06/2010 15:08

So many scans this week! Glad all are going well and fingers crossed those low placentas move up.

I've been getting calf cramps at night too, have in all my pregnancies, thought it was a bad circulation thing maybe? Pulling my foot backwards as hard as possible seems to stretch it out, but OUCH!

Think my feet have started to swell too, but that might just be the heat in this great weather we've been having.

Enjoy being out in the sun or watching the football everybody!

PrivetDancer · 27/06/2010 16:24

Yes I had my feet in a bucket of cold water last night, felt like such a cliche but they were quite swollen!
The heat in itself doesn't really bother me, I guess this is the upside of beings cold earlie on

Fenouille · 27/06/2010 17:47

Ooh Privet your bucket of water sounds lovely Thanks for the good wishes for the placenta hmm and I hope all of you with cramps don't suffer too much.

We're the hottest spot in France today and as we've just had a thunderstorm it's now very humid to boot. Can't wait to get to work tomorrow - the office is air conditioned Hope you're all bearing up to the heat a bit better.

Booboobedoo · 27/06/2010 20:06

Starting to suffer in the heat here too. I feel as though my face is sunburned (it's not), and my feet are on fire. I suppose it's all the extra blood?

Re cramps, I seem to remember reading that they can be caused by low potassium levels, hence the banana advice. I get them quite mildly, but as long as I remember to point my toes up when I stretch my legs in the morning I'm ok.

Had a lovely day with friends in the park today, then back to put our feet in the paddling pool. DH is away for a week, so they looked after DS for an hour, while I went for a snooze.

It's boo about the football, eh?

tiany · 27/06/2010 20:58

rubbish about the football for the English! watching Argentina right now..

Going to go get some bananas tomorrow then - worth a shot!!

Stay cool girls ;o)

mumcha · 27/06/2010 21:43

hi all thats gd about everyones scan news. I have my scan tomorrow afternoon praying that they will tell us the sex but it is their policy not to.Im just going to ask them to give us a hint even,i really want to findout im impatient like that. My dp was so happy last nite got to feel the lo kick for the first time.Hope everyone is keeping well and i will report back tomorrow about scan news.O forgot to say i was surprised to see a march 2011 thread are wee that pregnant already ?

PrivetDancer · 27/06/2010 22:54

March 2011?! omg!

forgot to say good luck to the low placenta gang
I had the same last time - they didn't scare me with 50% statistics though, just said most do move out of the way, and mine certainly did, so it was just nice to get another scan for me! (although you don't get to see much at 36 weeks)

bunnygirl80 · 27/06/2010 23:44

Welcome monkey

I been reading all your posts about the heat over the last few days and feeling quite smug as it's winter here, so it's been a pleasant 19/20 degrees every day. But we're going to the Northern Territory today on holiday, an having just checked the forecast it's going to be 35-37 the whole time we're there. Swelling up like a balloon here I come......

Won't be able to check in for a week, so good luck to all those with scans.

Pidgin · 28/06/2010 07:39

March 2011?! Bloody hell. We must be properly pregnant.

Congrats to all on lovely scan news and good luck for your today mumcha.

I am swelling up too, went on a long walk yesterday morning and when I got back my hands were all puffy, it was very strange - had to soak them in cold water for a bit. I find the hot weather a bit much but am working at home today, hurrah, so no sweaty tube journey.

And welcome to Monkey.

Have a nice Monday everyone!

grinningbee · 28/06/2010 09:56

Hi all!

Good luck for the scans today. I have mine this afternoon too I hope we can find out what flavour sibling dd is getting. I'm also curious to see how big freddy the fibroid is as I can feel it most of the time now. Boo.

Dh felt a kick for the first time on Saturday which was nice (after I had just scoffed choccy!!).

I found bananas, and drinking milk in the evening helped with the leg cramps last time. I'm joining the elephant ankles brigade too. Tis miserable!

Better go. dd is emtying dvds all over the floor. Joy

Rinnyx · 28/06/2010 11:47

Good luck with todays scan grinningbee and mumcha

4madboys · 28/06/2010 12:00

wow lots of scans, sounds like lots of boys so far? boys are fab

rhinny i go swimming at the pool at the university, its great, lovely and clean, and depending on when you go its either one big 50m pool, or most of the time its two 25m pools, one REALLY deep and the other not so deep. i have taken the kids there but we prefer to take them to the riverside or one in wyndham? where there are slides etc. but for ADULT swimming ie just swimming up and down and relaxing its great

i felt the baby move last night, only a little wriggle but it was def the baby, am so pleased as am almost 19wks, but the placenta being at the front means i cant feel baby so much.

my scan is a week on wed, dont think we are going to find out the sex.

we go to the cornbury music festival this fri, four days of camping with four kids, when i will be 19/20wks pregnant! hmm am sure it will be fine

oh and the football was terrible i treated myself to one of those little bottles of stella as a comiseration after we lost!

Rinnyx · 28/06/2010 12:43

Oh you mean the one near the football?
I was looking into that and some go for less card or something and its 50% off.
Dont think I would do any swimming, more like relax, bob about haha while DD trys to swim, think it would be easier for me to get to also as not passed my driving test yet so be a case of bus to tombland then walk down.

Good luck with your scan next week and have fun camping

4madboys · 28/06/2010 12:47

well if you want to take dd and just relax then i would say the riverside one then and yes it by the football stadium and yep you can get the bus to fairly near by

harmonyb23 · 28/06/2010 12:54

Good luck to all having scans today!

I can't wait for my scan next Monday, really excited now. Hoping to find out the sex when we go!

I am not suffering with any swelling and have been out in the sunshine quite a bit this weekend, just lucky I guess . I hope everyone is managing to cope OK in this heat?

CardiCorgi · 28/06/2010 15:19

Hooray, we have summer at last. Went to the outdoor pool on Saturday. I do wish people wouldn't stare at me, they must have seen a pregnant women exercising before. tiany I like the swimsuit; I'm still in a normal one but a Zoggs tankini is waiting for me to pick it up when I visit the UK. It's not as jolly as yours though.

I'm starting to feel movements, but I think the placenta is doing a good job of padding the baby.

Congratulations on the scans everyone. We're not letting on what we're getting, but the old wives' tales were completely wrong in our case.

mumcha · 28/06/2010 17:37

Hi all well im just back from my scan baby is measuring exact for dates ,they wouldnt tell us the sex but had quite a few close ups between the legs and i think its another boy but i could be completely wrong.

Rinnyx · 28/06/2010 19:05

Thanks 4madboys think I will pop down there and have a nose next time I am in the city...maybe when the heat has died down a little haha
Need to get swimwear now then

tiany · 28/06/2010 20:00

I had my scan today also and all looks good for the dates. We didnt want to find out the sex but also think we may have spotted a boy.. then again it might just have been the chord

Went for a lovely dip in the outdoor pool near me after - such a good way to cool down!! Seriously need to get my swimsuit though as my boobs looked ridiculous in my bikini!! Raunchy preggy lady not the look i am going for

p.s. had milk (and cookies) last night and no cramps so i think i will be trying it again this evening thanks!!!

Wallace · 28/06/2010 20:53

I just can't keep up with you all - I was away for a long weekend last weekend (ds1 was racing at the MotoGP at Silverstone) and haven't been able to catch up since we got back!

Glad to hear the scans are going well, mine is on 7th JUly - same day as yours 4madboys

Re swimming stuff - I couldn't find my cossie so I wore my tankini swimming instead and spent the whole time tucking my boobs back in I did see a tankini I really liked in mothercare.

So many of us here seem to have weddings to go to. My sister is getting married 4th Sept. I think I may go for the hanky hem dress from BHS that somebody linked to.

Felling movemnet a fair bit now apart from when we were away for the weekend it stopped completely which was slightly worrying (even though I know not to worry at this stage) but it started again when we got home. Perhaps it was the noise of the motorbikes...

Still not got much of a bump despite this being my fourth. Nobody has even noticed at my ds2's swimming lessons - it just looks like I have a little bit of a pot belly. Oh well I know it won't be long before I am enormous
