Bloody hell comtessa, that sounds stressful - not the kind of thing you want to have to deal with when you're pregnant. Hope the job-hunting is not too taxing. On the, ahem, crusty nipples front, could you be producing colostrum? You can start to get it round about now, perhaps the crustiness is small amounts of it dried? Or am I imagining the wrong kind of crustiness?!

Congrats on your girl FourEyes - sorry to hear about the placenta, but hopefully it will move in time. Hope yours went well too dairymum and good luck for tomorrow bunny and rinny!

We had our scan today and the baby looks healthy which is excellent - plus it's a boy! I am very smug as I have been saying it's a boy all along. Now looking at cute baby clothes on the internet and resisting the urge to buy...

harmonyb23 · 24/06/2010 18:25

Congrats on your girl Foureyes hopefully your placenta will move in time.

Comtessa I have not had crusty nipples but mine have been leaking a bit, woke up the other night with a puddle in the middle of the bed! Happened last time I was pregnant too... lol

Off to aqua aerobics in a bit, can't wait as the water feels so nice when it is hot like this!!!

Speak soon!!

Threelittleducks · 24/06/2010 18:46

Hellooo all!

Just popping in to share the news that we are having a boy!
Hurray!
A lot more excited about this than i thought I would feel!

All is going swimmingly so far (touch wood) with no problems from bp or anything!! Pretty happy!

Hope everyone is well.

Rinnyx · 24/06/2010 21:45

Good luck tomorrow bunnygirl heres hoping all goes well for us both I feel like time is really dragging now even tho today has gone fast!

Congrats Foureyes and Pidgin and hope your placenta moves up soon x

I finally went bra shopping today, I have being trying to keep my boobs best I can inside my pre preggers bras but finally caved when getting sore indents
Got bargains in Primark tho, was not going to pay £18 for 1 bra in mothercare so I got normal ones for £2 each in Primark, I love that shop I am already the size I was when I had DD tho

Rinnyx · 24/06/2010 21:47

Congrats also Threelittleducks

tiany · 24/06/2010 22:48

Wow congrats foureyes, pidgin and threelittleducks very exciting
foureyes you have a while to go yet so fingers crossed ur placenta will shift

Good luck to all having scans tomorrow!!!

tiany · 24/06/2010 22:51

booboo Foetal Alcohol Syndrome!.. jeez never heard of that, by little one not on the bottle ..actually found out my neighbours daughter just had baby there and she thought was very good so just good to hear.

Babybean1 · 25/06/2010 07:23

Good luck to all having scans today, looking forward to hearing what people are having

Great news from others for those who've already had scans, really feels like were on the way forward now doesn't it?!

Does anyone think we should add the sex to the stats list? (don't actually know mine but nice to b able to see those who do know clearly).....just a thought?

Hopefully going to sort pram this afternoon! Only prob is my car has decided to not want to work properly so is in the garage! No point going if we haven't got the car, as the whole point was to see if it fits ok in boots etc!! Fingers crossed it'll be done this morn and I'll be able to still get excited about the pram this afternoon

bunnygirl80 · 25/06/2010 07:49

Had my scan this morning. Baby was very uncooperative, and I was sent away to eat chocolate to wake it up

It's a little boy, which came as a surprise as I'd been starting to think it might be a girl. The old wives tale gender predictors were all completely wrong as well as they had all said girl.

I've updated the stats thread with the gender, and tried to update for those who've posted on here over the last few days. Chances are I've missed somebody though as it's hard to spot scan results in amongst all the talk of perineums

Good luck to everybody else having scans today.

umf · 25/06/2010 08:29

Congratulations on all the happy scan news! Looking forward to more in the next few days.

Ours isn't until week after next. V keen to have it now - and good chance that thesis will be finished by then . Just editing now.

DH felt bumpling move the day before yesterday. First time anyone's been able to feel on the outside. DH is delighted. He's putting a brave face on me turning into a hippo again, too.

Rinnyx · 25/06/2010 08:30

Congrats bunnygirl
I still have another 2 & half hours to go!

bunnygirl80 · 25/06/2010 09:37

Good luck rinny

cluelessnchaos · 25/06/2010 14:23

Loving catching up on all the scan news, I have been really busy for the last few days ( not as busy as comtessa though, sounds really stressful hope you are ok) had my first "when are you due from a shop assistant today so I am officially looking pregnant now, feeling tired I think I need my thyroxone dose put up again, seeing the consultant after my scan on monday so will beg him then. Is anyone feeling slightly nervous that there is no backing out of this now, I feel a bit like a donkey on a cliff with childbirth being the drop off the cliff.

dairymum · 25/06/2010 14:38

Old Wives tales got it right! we are having a boy. DP is absolutely over the moon. Baby was not feeling very co-operative for scan though. Sonographer had me turning every way to try to get the measurements she needed. only part he was proud to show were the boy bits!

cluelessnchaos · 25/06/2010 14:59

typical boy dairymum, ds aged 6 loves showing off his boy bits

Rinnyx · 25/06/2010 16:43

Finally back home and yep wifes tales right for us also

We are having a BOY!
We asked if we could be told the sex if she saw and good job to as the first image we got was right up between his legs.
She pointed it out afew times durning the scan saying 'oh there is the willy again, baby likes to show off'
I looked at DP and said 'takes after you then'
Everything was fine and she even said she wished other babys would cooperate like ours, she was lovely and I couldnt of asked for a better person, she told us everything she was looking at and even gave us a 2nd scan pic for free

rollerbaby · 25/06/2010 17:46

More boys!!! They are the best obviously... !!! Congrats girls.

Have just ordered cot, buggy, sling and car seat! Woo hoo...

umf · 25/06/2010 18:34

Congrats for today's scans! V glad to hear all looking healthy.

Wow comtessa what a bombshell!

monkeymum2010 · 25/06/2010 19:52

Hello Nov (+Oct/Dec) Mums to be! I've been lurking for a while and now we've had the 20wk scan feel ready to go more public! 1st baby due 11 Nov. I have to say it's been so reassuring hearing about everyone going through the same stuff - the number of times I've felt something new and then been reassured by you guys that it's all normal! Congrats on all the good scans - so exciting!

Fenouille · 25/06/2010 20:08

Great to hear all the scan good news foureyes, pidgin, threelittleducks, rinny and bunny and anyone else I may have missed out by mistake.

We also had ours today, the little bugger had its back to us so we had to go out and wait for 15 minutes for it to turn around ("Be good for Mummy" - and it was - probably first and last time!).

Everything looks good (but we didn't want to find out the sex) although I'm joining foureyes in the low placenta club. Most of it was at the bottom but it stretched all the way up behind the foetus to the top of the uterus, so fingers crossed it's going to move up. Despite all the perineum talk last week I'd rather not have a CS

comtessa, I hope you're successful with the job hunting, it's never nice but what a particularly horrible time for it to happen.

I made my first baby purchases this week as I was on business in Texas, so wanted to take advantage of better choice and cheaper prices than here (France, not UK). Bought a bunch of gender neutral baby clothes and managed to only have a minor hyperventilation fit in the baby department (I'm with clueless up on the cliff ) so quite pleased with myself. Only a bit sad not to have DH there, but he liked my choices (except the bib with the slogan "Cute but messy... just like Dad")

Have a lovely weekend everyone. The temperature's hit 30°C here now so I think I'm going to spend most of mine anywhere with air conditioning I'm dreading the rest of the summer already.

Ebb · 25/06/2010 20:24

Another one here for the low placenta club! I had it with Ds and it moved ok so I'm not worrying this time round. We've been told it's a girl so I'm very pleased at one of each flavour.

The scan was great and the sonographer explained each stage thoroughly. Baby is lying horizontally so no wonder I'm getting kicks and thumps in odd places! She looked very cute with her little legs crossed at the ankles. Everything is looking good and bang on dates for Nov 6th. I'll get scanned again at 36/7 wks to make sure placenta has moved.

My results for downs were 1:840 which seems quite high to me but I expected as much with my age.

umf · 26/06/2010 10:25

Congrats Ebb and Monkeymum!

Anyone else swelling up in this warm weather? I had to take off my wedding and engagement rings this week. Caused minor bruising, so was good to get them off now rather than later, but a bit without them.

Loooopy · 26/06/2010 12:02

well done everyone re scan news. Ours went well y;day, all in order and the right size etc - and now know why i can't barely feel it, high anterior placenta, so baby is kicking the placenta rather than me!! And we are also having a boy - DP happy, i'm happy too, but thought it would be a girl! Roll on November

bunnygirl80 · 26/06/2010 12:03

Congrats to all those with good scan news. Looks like I've been the only one so far where the old wives tales were wrong

Went out and bought lots of baby clothes today. Newborn stuff looks scarily big when I think it's going to fit someone that's got to come out of me

tiany · 26/06/2010 19:03

Hi monkey and welcome, my first also and this chat has been great for me too!

CONGRATS!! to all of you on the scans... hope the placenta moves higher for those you who need it. My scan is on monday afternoon..

Havent had swelling umf but i am waking in the nights with a scream cause I am getting cramps in my calves. very sore though stretch it out and goes away quickly but just strange!
