Booboobedoo
Here are 2 shops on ebay
stores.ebay.co.uk/NOKWEEMAN
stores.ebay.co.uk/Maternity-Dress-Up-Now

Loooopy I was looking at that dress before I won the one on ebay

blondecat · 14/06/2010 18:27

CardiCorgi I am not sure what style you want but Serpahine Maman et Bebe do a silk maternity cocktail dress (real silk! yay for this summer)
If I had any excuse event wise I'd buy it straight away

The Dress

balijay · 14/06/2010 18:49

Hi all - hope everyone is doing well.

Had a lovely relaxing weekend here and bleeding has stopped again for now

Lots of wedding talk on here today! I am due to be a bridesmaid for my best friend at the end of August. My friend knew we were trying to conceive when we ordered the dress back in january so we went for a loose fitting style in a bigger size - I just hope to god it looks ok when we have the fitting!!

hmmSleep · 14/06/2010 19:04

blondecat, I very nearly bought that dress! Didn't recommend earlier as it only goes up to a size 14, but it is gorgeous.

Glad to hear tests and scans went well harmonyb23 and Ebb. I didn't realise you could have a smear done whilst pregnant Booboobedoo.

Fenouille · 14/06/2010 19:21

Ebb, harmony, great news on your test and scan results My anomaly scan is booked for a week on Friday so that's something to hopefully look forward to. Glad to hear I won't be the only one not peeking tiany! Go on, join us Hmm

Cardi Sounds like we did a bit of a swap for our hols! Hope you enjoyed our little corner of South-west France? If you're normally a walker I can really recommend the Wallberg. I didn't do the last scrabbly bit to the peak but the walk down is very doable (especially if you take the ski-lift up like we did!). Just don't tell me Weisswürstchen are on the list of things not to eat...

I'm afraid I can't help with everyone's dress dilemmas, but I'm very of you all. I will most probably have to miss my friend's wedding at the beginning of September as it's in Italy and I think it might be a bit too far to drive for the weekend. Even worse, one of my closest friends is due to give birth (in Germany) the week after I won't be able to fly any more. Booo I need less international friends

On a different note, how long are your uteruses? Mine's currently 18cm from top to bottom. Apparently this is good.

tiany · 14/06/2010 21:07

so many nice dresses! I am bridesmaid for my sister at the end of December... its difficult trying to figure out what size i will then. My sis also choosing loose on the belly style.. thank god!!

Have NO IDEA how long my uterus is???

tanmu82 · 14/06/2010 23:32

the length of my uterus??? Not a clue!

Pidgin · 15/06/2010 08:07

can you measure your own uterus or do you need a midwife?

hmmSleep · 15/06/2010 08:20

If I remember correctly, I think the midwife just measures your bump whilst you're lying down, so from top of pelvis to where it goes down again. Might have that completely wrong though! I think the measurement pretty much follows how many weeks you are, so at 21 weeks you should measure around 21cm.

hmmSleep · 15/06/2010 08:22

And again, I could be talking a load of bollocks there!

LOL at Pidgin.

Pidgin · 15/06/2010 08:41

No I think you're right hmmsleep, I seem to remember reading about that in a book. Speaking of which I got Yehudi Gordon's Birth and Beyond from Amazon the other day and was reading it on the tube yesterday when I noticed teenage boy was staring anxiously at the large illustration of female bits on the page next to him - had to turn over to spare his blushes! Can recommend the book though, v detailed (but also v heavy).

Glad to hear the bleeding has stopped balijay - and I bet your bridesmaid dress will look lovely! I was bm for a friend on Saturday and also worried that the dress might not fit anymore but it was fine - it was a floaty style in a size bigger than I normally wear. I didn't even look pregnant really (until after dinner when bump/ flump was augmented by three course meal, when I looked about 7 months gone!).

CardiCorgi · 15/06/2010 10:08

A friend gave me that book. I opened it on the page with birth pictures which have made me freak out so much that DH has threatened to lock the book away.

Fenouille weisswurst with an alcohol free beer sounds fine to me. Erdinger do a decent weissbier (they sponsor a lot of the local triathlons, so it's what the athletes get as a recovery drink).

blondecat thanks, that looks nice. Not completely sure what I want either, just that I want to look nice. I'm quite scared by the amount of money I have spent on maternity clothing so far and I really haven't bought that much. Am now stalking ebay for bargains.

Threelittleducks · 15/06/2010 10:31

Hey ladies, hope all are well

I am moving house in 2 weeks - hooray!! So, hoping very much that I can get ds settled in and house perfected for baby coming! Very excited that I shall soon have my own space again!

I am also a fan of the non-alcoholic lager. Sometimes there is nothing more refreshing than a cold bottle. I am currently quaffing Becks (the only n/a that our local offie sells) and it's actually a good alternative. Sometimes the n/a's tend to be a bit unsatisfying, but this one is quite hearty and yum!

Just browsing through my cosmo last night and saw that Ebay have an outet shop. Just browsed the maturity bit, which doesn't have an awful lot, but has a couple of ok basics and they are all very very cheap.
shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?LH_SpecificSeller=1..mandmdirect%2Ckookai_outlet%2Claredoute%2Csuperdrystore% 2Cduneoutlet%2Cbenchoutlet%2Ckaren.millen%2Cofficeshoes%2Cromanoriginals%2Caustin-reed-outlet%2Cso letraderoutlet%2Cbarratts-priceless%2Crepublic%2Ccloggsuk%2Ctedsshed%2Clittlewoods-clearance%2Cbra nch309%2Cschuhstore%2Csavilerowcompany%2Chouseoffraser&trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253 A6%257C72%253A2471&nkw=maternity&trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1581&pgn=2

Hope this works for you.

However, if you are looking for dresses it's worth searching the 'normal' dress section. A lot of styles - longer, more flattering ones - lend themselves to smaller bumps. And cost a bit less than maturity. Lots of nice designers in the ebay outlet.

Loooopy · 15/06/2010 11:29

thanks to rinnyx i think i am going to take a risk and order a made to measure one from hong kong - takes 20 days for delivery so if i order this week, it means it will be here about a month before i need it - so worst case, can try and find an alternative if it's no good but at £87 and being made to measure, hopefully it will fit well!!!

this is the blown up photo of the one i think i'm going for - just not decided on which colour yet.....and want to email them first to see if they can use wider straps to better conceal my bra straps and to give it more support rather than flimsy thin straps which look pretty but wouldn't hide my bra! A lot of their other designs seem very low cut on the "model" and there's no way you'd be able to wear them with a bra, and with F cups there is no way i'm not wearing a bra! But i think this design is safe, should be comfy, and looks smart, what do you think?

just marking my place

addictedisalmosthalfway · 15/06/2010 12:06

just marking so i dont loose you again!

comtessa · 15/06/2010 12:08

Loooopy that dress is VERY lovely. Might be worth investing in a good strapless bra? I know Bravissimo do some good ones.

Make sure you post wedding photos of you looking gorgeous! xx

Pidgin · 15/06/2010 13:04

Very nice dress Loooopy - I would second strapless gra thing, unless you think you wouldn't get enough wear out of it.

Good to hear about your house Threelittleducks! Will you be moving far from where you are now?

umf · 15/06/2010 14:32

Loooopy that's gorgeous.

Vix7 · 15/06/2010 16:42

Loooopy that's a nice dress! perhaps see if they can make the straps thicker but in a gathered style so it matches the bust?

silly qn, but does anyone know if the NHS vs NCT antenatal classes are the same? i think we signed up for NHS ones, which seem to be free. but not sure if we should have gone for the NCT ones instead.

i think im starting to feel the bub move. was sitting down yday but bending forward to reach for something and felt a funny squirm in the lower abdomen area. almost like worms. or the feeling you get when you've eaten something bad and just before you get to the loo and let go explosive diarrhoea. oops. TMI there.

DH isn't v happy that i'm calling the bubs worms/shits.

still haven't bought a single thing for the bubs.....i think i'll start panicking closer to the date!

tanmu82 · 15/06/2010 17:46

I haven't bought a thing yet either - and not panicking at all. I am waiting to find out what we are having first as I have quite a few bits left over from DD, so if we're having a girl, I need a lot less. Also, we're in the middle of moving house so I'm waiting to get that out of the way first....

Fenouille · 15/06/2010 18:34

Loooopy That dress is lovely and looks like it should hide multiple sins

Cardi & 3LD I've (ahem) tested Erdinger, Fransiskaner, Becks and Krombacher a/f beers and they were all pretty good. Can't find any back here in France though

My doctor measured my uterus by pushing down like a bugger just about where my bladder is, while simultaneously poking me under the ribs - and then got me to read the tape measure as she didn't have her glasses on Didn't know about the uterus length = weeks gone thing, and at Pidgin.

Babybean1 · 15/06/2010 19:24

Hi all

Just book marking really, but needed to share my lovely experience today! Baby must have been under my ribs when I woke up as they were really sore, so moved onto my back and baby really went for it!! Felt about 5 massive kicks and was sooo lovely! Called DH but think my voice mustve scared it away

Up until now it's only been pops and pokes but this was definitely a 'proper' kick! Was sat down earlier and felt twitching.....when I looked at my tummy it was
poking out! Oh I love it!!

Have my scan tommorrow and am very excited! Gonna go with DH and buy our first thing for baby together after!

Lovely dresses by the way! Need to have a good look soon myself for parties and weddings coming up!

Have a good evening all

Rinnyx · 15/06/2010 20:19

No prob Loooopy hope it works out and looks fab
I tend to do a hell of a lot of clothes and shoes shopping when I got to Hong Kong to see family

Oh good idea comtessa we should all share photos of us in our lovely dresses at the events we are going to...I want my friends weddings now haha tho my dress has only been posted off today

hmmSleep · 15/06/2010 21:13

Dress looks gorgeous Loooopy, and great value for something made to measure. This is me at the wedding I went to a fortnight ago, wearing the same dress for another wedding in two weeks time, covered bump fantastically. Won't be leaving pic up for long, hate photos of myself!

Lovely to hear about baby movements Babybean1, and hope scan goes well tomorrow.

It does feel rather like that Vix7, or maybe I just do have an upset stomach . Haven't even thought about buying anything yet either, have accepted pregnancy but think I'm still in denial that there will be baby number 3 at the end of it, I'm scared!
