Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

WestYorkshire - my boobs are the same. I have to sleep in a bra or one of those vest tops with 'secret support' or they keep me awake everytime I move! Not complaining though as it means the hormones are still raging

The rest of this week is going to be hard - if we get past this it'll be the furthest we've ever got. Seeing the midwife next Saturday (who knew they worked then - had to call to check the appointment was right ).

Still don't have a date for a scan though so that'll be the first thing I ask. Don't think I'll relax until I see something and know there's a heartbeat & probably won't stop worrying then either.

knackered76 · 13/06/2010 17:24

aly - the boob fairy didn't come to me until after the baby was born the last two times. I think it because my body has totally given up on me this time

Wedding was great, and thank goodness I wore a maxi dress to hide the giant bloating of my tummy after food!

Flossie - fingers crossed for getting through this week. I never feel confident until I've seen a heartbeat. I have a viability scan on friday so slowly counting down the days.

Off to sort the children and revise now. I have an exam tomorrow and DH isn't about tonight, great timing

Can I ask a possibly painful question from those of you who have had a MC before? Did your symptoms stop beforehand? It's just that my nausea has pretty much disappeared these past five/six days, boobs aren't sore and I'm not massively tired - am starting to worry a lot that things are not right. No cramping or bleeding though on the bright side....

WestYorkshireGirl · 13/06/2010 20:13

Bubba I think there can be lots of different experiences of mc, but this was mine:- Felt nauseous, tired etc from time I found out for about 7-8 weeks and nothing that gave me any cause for concern, although had started to feel less sick the week before scan. Night before the 12 week scan, there was a little blood - nothing major (not bright red - watery brown-ish I think) and no cramps so wasn't unduly worried. Went for the scan and they couldn't see a heart beat and only an embryo that showed way too small - only about 6 weeks when I knew I should have been 12 weeks. They said it could be a missed mc (where the embryo dies, but your body continues as normal) and to come back in 11 days when there would have been some change. Literally within 2-3 hours, the camps started and the bleeding became heavier and that was the start of it.

Naturally the other week when all my symptoms vanished over night (I'd only had nausea and tiredness) I panicked. I spoke to mw who said that this happens to a lot of women - their symptoms come and go or they have none at all. Since I had the scan 10 days ago I've had days when I felt so tired and nauseous I thought I would die and then on Fri I felt fine. My boobs have only started hurting in the last week and these aren't as painful as last time although the food issues are much more extreme this time! I don't think the loss of symptoms means a mc is imminent, but of course you just don't know what's going on in there.

I think you are due same time as me so are you 8 weeks now? Maybe if you wanted some reassurance you could see GP and try to wangle a scan or have a private one (they seem to be about £80 which whilst not cheap would give some reassurance). I can't decide whether to have a private one between now and 12 weeks - for us it's more the logistics issue than the money (we would find it for this) as Leeds is not just around the corner and that's the nearest place that does them.

I hope this has helped. The waiting game just isn't easy is it?

BubbaAndBump · 13/06/2010 20:33

Thanks WYG, I've just worked myself up into believing it's all going shit. Part of my problem is that in both previous pregnancies I had all the symptoms really badly for 16 weeks and up until a week ago, I had the same symptoms and then suddenly nothing, and there have been no symptoms since then. Am planning on begging for an early scan or paying if necessary. My sister's offered to pay as she's gone through exactly the same as me and gone on to miscarry in the past - but I have a full day at work tomorrow and so won't be able to call until the late afternoon... Did you go to your GP or directly to the antenatal ward?

WestYorkshireGirl · 13/06/2010 21:08

I went to A&E with 10 days of pain in my right side around the ovary. I'm not sure what to suggest being a newbie to all this, but someone on another thread suggested ringing you local EPAU or if you have a nice GP you could try them and with them not being an expert they might refer you to 'be on the safe side'. Good luck.

aly323 · 14/06/2010 02:54

Bubba, I never had strong symptoms before my mc, so I can't help you on that. I had asked my Dr to test my betas and knew they weren't rising well. At 6 weeks, I had some light bleeding and went for a scan that showed possible trouble. Two days later, another scan showed that the sack was getting smaller and that my betas had decreased. However, I did follow WYG's posts and have to say that the responses from women have symptoms that came and went help to reassure me daily.

I second the suggestion that you request a scan. My betas were the biggest tip off, but as you're 8 weeks along, a scan might be more helpful. I hope you feel better soon.

WYG, I now understand why so many people felt that their mc robbed them of a normal pregnancy experience. I want to relax and enjoy this time, but there is just a constant cloud of worry hanging over me. I'm sure 12 weeks will make it all better (or at least Significantly better).

AmIGoingMad · 14/06/2010 18:47

This paranoia thing's driving me crazy too! This is first pregnancy for me but so many of my mates have had issues it's made me stupidly on edge which probably isn't the best way to be!
I went to my GP with pains and he referred me for early scan to check things out. All seemed positive but too early really (scan at 6 weeks but as I ovulated quite late i don't think that it was really 6 weeks IYKWIM). I have another one on Fri morning so I've got fingers crossed! Cramping has eased and no bleeding- but i'm still checking every time I go to loo (sorry if TMI!) x

flossie75 · 14/06/2010 19:08

Bubba - I didn't have any symptoms either time I mc. Just started to spot brownish blood (tiny amounts at first). Had some pain the first time but both times it took a week for the bleeding to really start.

Both times I had scans at what would've been about 6 weeks - but they were both inconclusive so I had to go back. The second time I bled before so I knew. I went through the EPAC - who were brilliant.

I'm also thinking about getting a private scan if the NHS don't come up with something soon!

Know what you mean AmIGoingMad about checking when you go to the loo......

but for all those watching this thread who have never mc (particularly if it's your first) don't worry!!!! Easier said I know but loads of people have no problems at all.

BubbaAndBump · 14/06/2010 20:02

I've got an appt at the EPU on Wednesday

Bubba - thinking of you

LadyBuzz · 14/06/2010 20:30

hello all, I have been MIA as my pooter died last week grr.

Had a quick scan through, hello to the new ladies.

bubba fingers crossed for you. I have no symptoms really, I am a bit tired at times and feel like I may pass out if I don't eat every hour or so but no sore boobs or anything. Try not to worry too much it might just be the other sex? I will be thinking of you on Wed.

I am with the people who mentioned mc takes the excitement away, I had a mmc before DS1 was born. Got all the way to almost 11 weeks nad had a few mild cramps which I mentioned to the MW she sent me for a scan and there was no baby, I had lost it around 6 weeks. Even now 2 DSs later I still panic that it will happen again, and check constantly for bleeding!

Hi to everyone else

knackered76 · 14/06/2010 20:41

I've never had a mc and yet am paranoid about this one. More so then my second, I think because I didn't have time to think about it due to running around after my 1 year old! It doesn't help that I don't really suffer from symptoms, but then they bring their own special form of paranoia!

Bubba - fingers crossed, hopefully all is well and your body is just more used to it this time so reacting differently.

AmIGoingMad - I'll be joining you, not literally as that would be a bit of a shock, on friday for a scan. It can't come quick enough for me and currently counting the hours!

Roll of the 12 weeks for everyone and we can find new things to worry about

LadyBuzz - welcome back!

WestYorkshireGirl · 14/06/2010 21:30

Bubba Good news about your scan and pleased the EPU helped. I phoned up about a private scan today - two places which were in the booklet I got from the NHS about screening. Our PCT don't offer any tests etc so they listed the places that offer them privately and they also do antenatal scans so that was useful. They do packages of tests for all sorts of up to £1,000 - it seemed a bit mad and I said I only wanted a scan none of the other tests at all. One was £80 and one was £120! The one who offer them for £80 had no waiting list and could give me any day next week + free pics - how different to the NHS!!!

Not really been having any symptoms here other than a bit of weariness and still needing to eat regularly.

knackered you are right in saying roll on 12 weeks!!!

Shanster · 15/06/2010 03:02

Bubba, with my first I had mild morning sickness for about 2 weeks and then only very mild symptoms...and everything was fine.

I was supposed to have a scan tomorrow as they didn't see a heartbeat at my last one (at just under 6 weeks) but my DD is not well so I had to cancel and won't be seen now until next Wednesday. Hate this part, I'd like to just fast forward to the second trimester.

BubbaAndBump · 15/06/2010 05:56

Oh Shanster, thank you - I'll cling on to that thought until the scan.

Sorry you're having trouble getting a scan WYG.

Thank you all for your positive thoughts ladies. I'll let you know how I get on.

Good luck [Bubba] Fingers crossed for you

Marrow · 15/06/2010 12:19

Bubba - Just wanted to reassure you that I am 8 weeks today. I have no symptoms at all and actually feel full of energy. I have had three scans and baby is growing well with a good heartbeat. Hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

AmIGoingMad · 15/06/2010 16:56

Good luck with scan Bubba and Knackered76- will be thinking of you both!
I'm driving myslef mad counting down to Fri - let alone 12 weeks!
Take care ladies! x

Fuzzywood · 15/06/2010 20:46

Good luck for the scans, hope they bring good news.
I finally have my mw appointment but not until the 29th, mw on holiday this week and we're away next week. Just hoping the scan isn't too long after that. Had a couple of early scans with DD at the EPU which was scary but then very reassuring, it's making waiting to 12 weeks this time really hard. Already 9 weeks though so I'm sure the time will fly by [desperate to convince self emoticon]

reallygrumpy · 15/06/2010 21:56

Hello, can I join you all? I found out yesterday that I'm pg, due on 23rd jan according to the doc. It's taken me 18 months and a fertility drug to get here so I've got all my fingers and toes crossed hoping nothing goes wrong. Oh, and I've got a 2 1/2 yr old dd. I'm hoping to have a scan this wk at the ivf unit where I was treated so hopefully I'll get to see my little blob soon. Hopefully just the one, the drug I was on increases the risk of twins!

LadyBuzz · 15/06/2010 22:07

Congratulations reallygrumpy and welcome.

I have my scan date finally! July 13th I will be 12 1/2 weeks I think. It seems like ages away.
I have my first mw app next mon. I feel like I have been pg for ages its so frustrating.

bubba good luck for tomorrow, hope all is well.

Rocklover · 16/06/2010 14:22

Hi again! I am now moved to Devon and looking at the lovely sunny sky outside wishing I could enjoy it. I feel sick constantly and only go out to take dd1 to and from school and to do the odd shopping trip. I am a wimp when it comes to puking I admit it, so roll on 2nd trimester...pleeeeaassse!

How is everyone else doing?

BubbaAndBump · 16/06/2010 15:59
