Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

ladybuzz - poor you - are you feeling a bit better?

I must admit Dh did come into the room as i was pushing furniture (not carrying) and told me to stop and told me off.... but then he helped out a bit.

Oooh baby showers sound fun jjkm - plus you have a reason to have 2 of them don't you! One for each baby!

Quick question for already mums out there - baby lotion/baby oil/shampoo/baby bath? Good or bad? Friend told me not to use Johnsons, another friend swears by it? plus, I know you are meant to wash them in water most days - do you ever use bath stuff?

BubbaAndBump · 17/10/2010 12:00

Party was loud and noisy and very messy but lots of fun had by all (except for one poor little girl who has a phobia of balloons!). Pass the parcel went down very well, had a choc. coin in each layer as well as a small silly present but no going-home presents. Cupcakes all iced with Happy Birthday DD2 on them went down well and finished tidying by 6:30 (they'd left at 5) so way more tidying before and after than the length of party itself Hmm. DD2 had a ball and was the perfect birthday girl :o [very-proud-and-a-little-bit-smug-emoticon].

Hope all's well LadyB?

cupcakes I only ever used water with my DDs in the bath although I did use Dentanox shampoo with their cradle c(r)ap which worked a treat, although I know of people who swear by olive oil.

Glad go hear the party went well Bubba, I dread to think about the mess considering the state our house gets in courtesy of just one 2 year old.
Cupcakes I just used water and mostly still do with DD. I was told by the health visitor not to use Johnsons. DD did have eczma, though I know of a few other friends who were told the same when their little ones didn't have any skin problems. In the early days you only really need water and cotton wool and baby wipes for nappies (some health visitors say not to use wipes too but I found then so much easier for nappies than cotton wool and water and couldn't have done without them when out and about).
Oh and welcome Spooky

LadyBuzz · 17/10/2010 17:35

just water here too, and like bubba with the odd bit of dentinox for cradle cap.
DS1 has eczema DS2 doesn't.
I had the full range shampoo/bath stuff/baby oil/vaseline/lotion etc and to be honest I have only used the shampoo and bath stuff (and that was mostly for me Grin)

bubba sounds like you had a fantastic party, glad DD2 enjoyed herself!

Still a bit sore here if I don't rest so I think I might give work a miss tomorrow, but still loads of kicking from Babybuzz!

BubbaAndBump · 17/10/2010 20:24

Glad babybuzz is okay, but sorry to hear you're not feeling good. Def. stay off work until you're 100% LadyB otherwise you'll only regret it in the longer run.

RunningKatie · 17/10/2010 20:33

I am wearing my maternity tights twirl so comfy to have them over the bump rather than half way down my legs.

Just sent off my Health in Pregnancy grant form, and ordered curtains for the nursery. Feeling a bit organised.

LadyBuzz - if you're sore then stay off work, you need to look after yourself.

Spa day tomorrow! Grin

ZippyPippy · 17/10/2010 20:40

Poor you ladybuzz definitely rest up.

Glad the party went well bubba sounds great and welcome spooky.

I have another cold, I hope I won't be ill all winter due to a lovely reduced pregnancy immune system!! Also got a bit of backache so feeling a bit sorry for myself today. So no nesting for me for the moment!

ZippyPippy · 17/10/2010 20:41

PS Very jealous of the spa day running ENJOY!!

CupcakesHay · 18/10/2010 00:40

Finally your spa day! have fun running

Zippy and Ladybuzz - take care of yourselves - rest up plenty, and lots of hot lemon and honey drinks... (aaah - remember the days when we could chug lemsip til our hearts were content!)

bubba pass the parcel sounds fab - and very pleased DD enjoyed the day - that's the main thing.

And all details of baths, duly noted.... in my new "baby notebook" - yes - nesting has DEF kicked in! Grin Although like the idea of using the Johnson's stuff myself - i love the smell of their bath lotion!

Spookberries · 18/10/2010 13:25

We'll be using some Johnson's stuff although as a qualifed maternity nurse I do feel obliged to tell you nothing is necessary before 1 year Grin (unless they roll around in some dirt, etc Wink)

We are having a boy! He has sooooo many clothes, we started 2 years before we even tried to conceive Blush but wanted to be prepared! DP was born at 23.5 weeks so we expected him to come quite early, he hasn't made an appearance yet! But we have hospital bag packed just in case!

We are experiencing some leg cramps here, any ladies have any tips on that?

Hi folks. I just started another thread on the pregnancy bit, but just wanted to ask you already mums if you went to NCT classes and if so were they worth it. I just found out my local one will cost £309!! Is anyone on here attending an NCT class. Loads of my friends have said to join as they are really good but tbh I can't afford that. No way. Feeling very disappointed really.
Welcome spook. Hope your leg cramps improve. I sometimes get restless leg syndrome which drives me nuts. My friend reckons it's an iron deficiency.

For all of us who are teachers on here... 3 days till half term :)

RunningKatie · 19/10/2010 21:35

Salt - NCT seem to do reduced prices based on your income too so have a look at that.

I'm starting mine in December, hoping that i'll meet some other local Mums as it has struck me I don't know any really.

Spa day was wonderful, everyone tells me today how relaxed I look which is nice. Bump behaved very well and is now definitely up'ing it on the wriggly front. I am loving this bit Grin

LadyBuzz - how are you feeling now?

saltnvinigarcrips · 19/10/2010 22:33

I looked into reduced rates runningkatie but we're above the threshold yet still not able to stretch to that.

It's a funny feeling isn't it all the wriggling baby does. Mine goes mad on a night and the other night I was in bed trying to get to sleep and I ended up screaming out of surprise as it did a massive roll or something strange. More than a kick. I think I can feel a difference between kicks and prods and wriggly bums and turns but maybe I have an over active imagination.

DH is saying he wishes we had found out the sex now and part of me thinks the same but regardless I already have a sense it is going to be demanding as it goes crazy before my dinner time.

Anyone else still awake? I really need to get myself to bed!

CupcakesHay · 20/10/2010 10:05

salt I'm the same as you - I was looking into it and it seemed so expensive, compared to everything else I need to get before the baby comes. I emailled friends and half said go - other half said don't - but then a lot of people said you do make good friends there. However, irrelevant to me - as I'll only be in devon for giving birth, and not actually living there long term.

I had a lovely long lie in this morning - went to bed at 11.30pm and slept in til 10.30am!

Had a partially foot sticking out of me this morning - which made me laugh! Lucky DH had gone to work - he would have freaked.

I have a friend and her DP coming out to visit for 10 days on Thursday - can't wait!

LadyBuzz · 20/10/2010 13:06

running i'm alot better thanks for asking, the pain has calmed down! I do think I might be getting SPD though Sad don't know alot about it really but the signs are all there booo!

salt i think you can def feel the difference between kicks and rolls etc so you are probably right!

Can't help with the NCT thing as I only went to the NHS ones, they were crap but I did make a friend that I still see every week 4 years later [hsmile]

WestYorkshireGirl · 20/10/2010 13:56

Ladies - I'm back! Apologies for the long absence - 3 week holiday, still in house chaos etc, but getting a grip on things now we have hired some help (e.g decorator!) Glad to read everyone's news. My first NCT class is tonight - will let you know how it goes. Mine cost just over £200 and now I've just had the health in preg grant paid, that will just about pay for them. Impressed as it's only taken a week to process and it just turns up in your account! Will catch up after NCT.

FloraPost · 20/10/2010 15:57

Hey WYG, long time! Hope you & West Yorkshire Baby are well.

We are signed up for NCT but it doesn't start 'til the end of November. I think the price varies quite a lot according to where you are and how many hours the course is. Ours was £200 for 6 x 2hr sessions.

Just been to the 25 week GP appointment and heard the heartbeat again Smile. Lots of the kicks are now visible but DP keeps missing them. He has hardly felt Tiny Flora at all even when we talk to the bump, shine a torch at it, keep his hand there for ages, etc. Looks like this is going to be a mummy's boy.

We had friends to stay at the weekend with their 20 month old. What a handful! Lovely well-behaved kid, but like a tornado. I shall need to get in training.

LadyBuzz · 20/10/2010 16:12

flora give me your address and you can borrow mine for a while, very very sweet boy but like a bulldozer [hgrin]

WYG good to see you glad you are keeping well

ZippyPippy · 20/10/2010 19:36

Welcome back westyorkshire girl

I've started to feel baby loads the last few days - has been unlike anything yet, is really taking me by surprise I keep clutching my belly and gasping in shock. Is wonderful and making me feel a bit sick at the same time!! Am hoping I'll get more used to it!

We're doing NCT but won't start until November, does seem expensive but I decided to spend the health in pregnancy grant on that considering I have no idea about anything and will hopefully meet some other mums!

Glad you're feeling better ladybuzz, I really hope it's not SPD :-(

Hello ladies, just a quick bookmark. Have my 28 week glucose test next week which will help determine if I have gestational diabetes...

Have horrible SPD again, but it's part and parcel with pregnancies for me so just grinning and bearing it (or whingeing away like an old fart) :o

I did the NCT course here with DD1 and I made some friends who I see every now and then, but I did think it was expensive for what it delivered (although knowing that some others were also having a crappy time of it once baby was here was quite comforting and made a real difference to me). I then did the free NHS post-natal course and some of the other mums I met on that were really brilliant and have become some of my best baby friends...

RunningKatie · 21/10/2010 10:09

I think my baby is a TV critic Confused - I was trying to watch the Apprentice last night and got distracted watching my bump rippling away to itself. Had to text DP in huge excitment as he's in Sweden this week.

We had an Elmer the Elephant delivered the other day, he's so cute, but we need to decorate the nursery for him to have somewhere to live. :)

Fuzzywood · 21/10/2010 18:10

Just popping in quickly, all well at mw, bump is measuring 2 weeks ahead of where it should be, convincing myself it's fluid rather than baby!
I made some really good friends through NCT who I still see pretty much every week so worth it to me for that. Might be worth checking if membership was included in the cost as you don't have to pay this if you don't want to become a member.
Hope all the aches and pains aren't too bad x

FloraPost · 22/10/2010 13:40

Thanks for the offer LadyB but I might just decline [hgrin]. I am utterly crap with small kids; almost always make them cry (unintentionally obv.). I seem to be one of those people who makes them go all shy. But hey, its different when it's your own, right?!

(channeling Cupcakes) We are getting all the baby stuff tomorrow - pram, cot, travel seat, the works. I am so excited I might just burst! It's better than Christmas!
