Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

Hi all

Well, I had a lovely week at Center Parcs and only one day of pain. Had lots of cuddles from my nephew who is nearly one and time with his brothers and sisters. Went for my scan today - drank loads and was almost incontinent in the waiting room and then they said it would be a vaginal scan so all the agony for nothing and it took me 2 goes to empty my bladder and then they said it was still a bit full .

Anyway, 2 lovely ladies sorted us out (so different to before) and guess what - saw a heart beat and a blob! It is 9mm and looking good (well as much as you can really see it!). They checked my ovaries and apart from a small cyst there is nothing to worry about there and they can't see a reason for the pain. We were so relieved, (esp DH) and I think we can now move into the 'we're going to have a baby frame of mind'! They gave us 2 pics to take away and it was such a better experience than last time. They even 'fudged' things a bit and said normally the trust would take an early scan as a dating scan and I'd not get another one until 20 weeks, but although they told me it was 9mm and 6 weeks, 6 days they put on my notes that it was too tricky to date and I needed another one at 12 weeks. They were very sympathetic and said they thought it would reassure me. So, we keep looking at our fuzzy blob pictures and being a bit giddy. The pain is still there, but I'm not going to worry about it now. I know I still have a while to go, but I must try to be positive.

The symptoms are very vague and come and go, but I took comfort my SIL saying she didn't really have many either so maybe I should stop wishing to feel awful!.
Yellowchicken I have woken up at between 5 and 6am since I got my BFP- today it was 5am. Often the room is spinning and I feel very sick and then it passes, but I can't get back to sleep as I feel ravenously hungry and if I don't eat I feel sick so I have to get up! When I was pg before I was religious about not eating certain foods, but my independent mw was quite relaxed about it and now, if I fancy it, I tend to have it! I had a quarter of a glass of fizzy wine on Tues and loved it!

Flora I have 2 cats and apart from avoiding the cat litter tray, I am carrying on as normal - what a silly GP!

Enjoy the sun!

BubbaAndBump · 04/06/2010 16:31

Excellent news WYG, and what brilliant midwives/sonographers - that's what we like to hear! Very jealous of your blob pictures

Boiling hot here; sticky, sticky, sticky Girls are being gorgeous if a little clingy, which in this heat is not so gorgeous, but lovely as long as I'm not chucking them down quickly to chuck up . My eldest keeps telling everyone I'm ill as I keep going and having sleeps and puking. Nice. God knows what I'm going to do next week back at work and back with the girls on my own...

Bad news noticed some spotting earlier and it doesn't seem to be stopping. No cramps but am now in a complete panic and sick with worry. To make it worse I am supposed to be photographing a wedding tomorrow. Called the GP and if it gets worse I have to call the on call doctor, either way I need to go to the EPU next week, why did this have to happen on a Friday evening?? Keep your fingers crossed for me please.

BubbaAndBump · 04/06/2010 20:13

Oh sorry to hear that saffron Fingers crossed and hugs winging their way

Fuzzywood · 04/06/2010 21:31

Saffron sorry to hear that, fingers crossed all is well.
WYG glad all is looking good.
I've still not heard from the mw, think I'll chase on Monday as I'm getting worried that by the time I see them booking scans and any tests may be getting difficult. Oh well no point in worrying about it over the weekend.
Hope you're all enjoying the sun.

MissCKitty · 04/06/2010 21:34

Hi ladies, fellow Jan 2011 here. Got my BFP bank holiday monday. And am due the day before my 32nd birthday. However still having a hard time believing I am actually pregnant. Anyone else feel like that? Do you think you get a 'eureka' moment when all of a sudden it hits you that you're having a baby!!! lol

LadyBuzz · 05/06/2010 09:49

saffron fingers crossed for you lovely.

Welcome MissCKitty and congratulations to you. I'm due 3 days before my birthday so we must have similar birthdays

Well I am back into the routine of being sick when I clean my teeth being fineish all day and feeling sick on a night - My guess is it will be another boy!

I have my booking appointment on June 21st and got my notes yesterday to fill in before my app I don't think I had to do that last time - it has all changed so much!

Hope everyone is enjoying this lovely weather

saffronbun · 05/06/2010 15:13

Hey all, definitely not looking at all good here - I am pretty sure the journey's over. So I am going to leave you now, but I am sending you all lots of good wishes for the January babies x

Poor, poor you Saffronbun. Keep positive and don't give up. My GP said to me last time:

  • Forgive your body. Forgive yourself.
It wasn't meant to be this time. Hugs xxx
AmIGoingMad · 06/06/2010 13:36

So sorry to hear that Saffronbun. Take care x

AmIGoingMad · 06/06/2010 13:43

I've only just seen this thread-didn't know antenatal existed as I'm new to this whole thing!
I'm 5+6 and think I'm due on 31st Jan!
I've been tired, my brain's a bit fuzzy, and I've been having some cramps back and forth (which i've been reassured on other thread are just ligamanets and stuff moving around???). Other than that no symptoms yet really. I know I should be thinking of myself as being really lucky but I kind of want the sickness to make me think everything's ok - please feel free to remind me of this if I get other symptoms and start moaning .
I'm also a teacher and back to work tomorrow so we'll see how that goes!!! Planning on telling boss and some people from then but I'm scared too in case things go wrong. I'm really trying to make myself think positively though- first pregnancy and no idea what to expect!!!
It's great to 'speak' to people who are going through similar things at similar times! Look forward to speaking to you all!

WestYorkshireGirl · 06/06/2010 14:36

Hi everyone

Well all my symptoms have arrived with a vengeance! I feel shocking - sick, hungry, and so tired! Yesterday I woke up at 3.45 am and had to have breakfast. I had a nap in the afternoon and am still tired - I have had words with the bean about the early morning action. Am back to work tomorrow and can't be doing with all these early mornings!

Saffron Sorry you are leaving us. Don't be too hard on yourself and take care.

moulesfrites · 06/06/2010 14:51

AmIgoingmad welcome - I was you last week wishing for some nausea - now it's here with a vengeance and I can't believe how stupid I was!! Enjoy being nausea-less while it lasts! I'm also exhausted and got a headache that I just can't shake, but worried about taking anything for it. Have taken single paracetamol but they don't touch it. I'm going to have to tell my head of dept next week back at school because our dept are going on a weekend away where there will be a hottub and lots of drinking next weekend and I would hate for it to come out then without her knowing first. I can't imagine she'll be too chuffed though - I'll be the 3rd person in a year. Still very anxious about everything, but DH keeps telling me to stay positive.

knackered76 · 06/06/2010 17:13

Welcome AmIgoingmad and congratulations! I'm symptom free as well at 6wks. Be thankful and hope it lasts, although I know it would be nice to have the reassurance I was teacher as well and had to tell my boss at 10wks because I was going on the yr6 adventure holiday!

WYG - The joy of symptoms

FloraPost · 07/06/2010 00:17

Ugh, felt properly shite for the first time today (but no actual throwing up). How is it possible to feel stuffed, starving and sick all at once?! Not completely sure whether its the pg or getting up at 3:45 this morning to catch a flight .

We have decided not to go public until 12 weeks (currently 6+3). I really hope the symptoms stay under control enough not to give me away before then.

Saffron, hope you are ok.

dorcas111 · 07/06/2010 08:29

Hi, I'm another one due late January. I've been lurking for a while as, having had a miscarriage last March at six weeks, I've been feeling really anxious about this pregnancy. Still anxious but thought I need to start believing this is actually happening. I'm 6+3, not feeling too awful at the moment, just very tired, sore boobs and a bit queasy. Oh and cramps too which I've had since 4 weeks (actually a bit earlier as I had twinges at three weeks). They have been scaring the hell out of me, although I know that lots of people get them and it is still ok. Still worrying though...
Oh and hi WYG, nice to see a familiar name- I'm so glad your scan went well x

mimster · 07/06/2010 09:43

Hi all - sorry to hear about your loss saffron. I had a miscarriage in Jan and it knocked me for six, so feel your pain. But I echo littleyellowchicken's words which is essentially what my doctor told me last time. Take it easy.

I have got a scan tomorrow @ 9:45 (paranoid this time round so have booked an early one) - am really nervous about whether or not there will be a heartbeat... fingers crossed!

Have a happy Monday everyone

littleyellowchicken · 07/06/2010 12:03

Hi everyone,
Florapost - your desciption of 'stuffed, starving and sick' apples to me precisely. So nice to know that I'm not alone.

The days move so slowly towards 12 weeks. I told my parents at the weekend and sort of wish they weren't so excited, because I'm afraid to be.

AmIGoingMad · 07/06/2010 12:18

These cramps have started to drive me insane! Went to docs today hoping he'd tell me that it's just normal but he's referred me for early scan to be on safe side. I'm pleasead he's done that. Have it tomorrow morning but I'm wary as I know it could be too early to give proper answer anyway! I should have named myself little miss paranoia!

FloraPost · 07/06/2010 19:06

A few questions for the wise from the uninitiated:

It seems like quite a few of you are getting scans and booking appointments now-ish. Is that normal? Twit student GP said last week I would get both around 12 weeks, but as she is a twit I am prepared to challenge her.

Also, how complicated are 12 week scans really? I've been told I will have to go all the way up to Kings for it even though I'm outside their catchment area and the rest of my antenatal care will be at our local hospital. I was a bit surprised I can't get it done locally.

Littleyellowchicken, time has slowed, hasn't it? I think it's the combination of jelly brain, not telling people and counting the minutes until I can get hold of another yogurt. The non-bump likes yogurt.

knackered76 · 07/06/2010 19:16

Flora - I think there are a few of us getting early scans for various reasons. I had one to check it wasn't ectopic and now have another next friday to see if there's anything actually growing! For my previous 2 I had a booking in and 12 week scan at the same time but did see the midwife before that, mainly to say where I was thinking of having the baby. I thought you got your scan where you were planning to have the baby, or the nearest place if you are having home/birth centre. Seems a bit silly to have to go someone other than your local! I would book in to see the midwife at the doctors and then have a chat to them about it, might clear things up.

As for the complicated bit, 20 weeks is much more complicated. At 12 they check the chambers of the heart, may do a nuchal fold measurement and give an EDD. I think that's all they do, although it has bee 4 year since my last one and my brain has melted somewhat since then

WestYorkshireGirl · 07/06/2010 22:34

Flora I was told categorically by my NHS mw that I would not get a scan until 12 weeks despite a mc and the pains I was experiencing. It was only because I went to A&E as the pain had gone on for 10 days and was a bit assertive that I got one!

I think like knackered you end up going to where they think you will have the baby, but I've not discussed this with the NHS mw and will be switching to an independent for a homebirth once I have all the bloods done as its easier. I don't want any tests or screening, just scans so I hope to opt out of the NHS at some point. Agree that seeing your mw would help sort it out.

AmIgoingmad Hope your scan goes ok tomorrow. They will almost certainly do a vaginal scan - I had this last week and when I had the mc as it's often the best way to see early on. It will involve a dildo-shaped device being inserted into your vagina which they move around. Whilst not painful, it's not that comfortable either, but done with quite a bit of dignity with DP/DH at the top end and a sheet covering over your lady parts! I thought you might like to know that this may be a possibility as it's your first pregnancy, but it's nothing to worry about.

Hi Dorcas - nice to see at least 2 of us from the mc thread and Aly was lurking too.
