Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

Madinitials · 14/09/2010 20:58

Ryuk like Cupcakes said, it's probably just a one-off dodgy urine sample. I am at high risk of diabetes so I have to follow a particular diet for 48-72 hours before having the blood test. Actually, the diet's full of carbs and naughty stuff so I'm quite happy to do it!!

Bubba glad to hear that first two play so well together. How old are they now? Mine will be 17 months apart too. Did you buy a double buggy when number two arrived? Some friends are telling me to just use a sling and my current single pushchair but I tend to go out walking to the shops a lot so I'm not sure that this is pratical.

Salt we didn't find out the gender of DD either so she spent her first few months in a lot of cream, yellow and white. I did go to the Zara sale though and buy identical outfits in pink and blue - couldn't resist.

BubbaAndBump · 14/09/2010 21:04

We did get a double (2nd hand side-by-side Maclaren), but didn't use it for very long although DD1 was still having afternoon sleeps at that point so it was good for those times, and for when I was trying to get to a playgroup far away on time. What I did get and we used much more was a buggy board. Very useful and will be useful again for when #3 comes to play :). Depends I suppose on the nature and fatigue-levels of your eldest. They're now almost 2 (next month) and 3 1/4

Fuzzywood · 14/09/2010 22:08

Hi all.
Glad to hear scans are going well. Ryuk hope it's good news from the blood test.
Bumpy is now kicking hard enough to be seen on the outside, felt a leg or something yesterday as well which was a bit freaky.
Have also agreed on shortlist of 2 boys and 2 girls names with DH tonight, much easier than expected.
Right off to bed as still feeling horribly tired.

CupcakesHay · 14/09/2010 22:16

madin Can you try a buggy board, or will your eldest be too old? I think if you'eregoing to do that much walking... then I think i'd get a double buggy if I was in your shoes.

salt I looked on next and saw 2 sets of sleepsuits (in girls section0 which I'm buying for boy - aqua one with yellow polka dots and another greens and browns with owl motif - I asked my mum and my dad and they both reckoned that they could be for a boy or a girl. But receipts - a month - although I was told by friend that they're quite good at giving credit notes. Maybe try and hold off for a little bit longer?

I decided today, after speaking to midwives to fly back on my 30th week... and DH will fly back around 38-39 weeks - so fingers crossed baby isn't early!

bubba I love the way your bubba is into your work! Maybe he/she will grow up to be a mini-you and go into same job?

LadyBuzz · 15/09/2010 15:49

hello everyone. Welcome madinitials

I finally caved and went to the doctors yesterday I am just so knackered and weak and struggling for breath - Booo, on the upside my asthma is stable and it isn't that. He thinks I am anaemic which I suspected so waiting for blood results. I meant to get iron tabs but forgot!

madinitials I have had a double for both of mine (1st time 2 + 5, this time 2 + 2) but DS1 was a lazy tike and DS2 is like the tazmanian devil and needs contained for my sanity Grin i'm on my 5th double so if you need any advice ....... Grin

Baby is nice and active now and DH can just about feel the kicks! scan again next Tuesday so fingers crossed I will find out this time!

bubba glad the new job is going well!

CupcakesHay · 15/09/2010 18:14

5 double buggies... you are funny ladybuzz! But poor you over the anaemia - but at least you know the cause!

BubbaAndBump · 15/09/2010 19:22

Hey LadyB good to hear from you - anaemia is solved easily though, and if you're prescribed the iron it's free at least (silver linings and all that!). TBH I self-prescribed and take iron every day ~ breathlessness and knackeredness Hmm much improved. (MW today said it might be unnecessary - but for the first time in three pregnancies my blood count is good for iron levels, so I figure what I'm doing might be right for me!) :o

Running late for antenatal appt this afternoon and tripped over myself somehow Hmm, went sprawling out across the car park, grazed my elbow badly, both hands, threw my notes, keys, phone and my pot of wee Blush across the car park. Gathered up my things (incl. my wee), my humility and tried to pretend all was normal! :o :o Thank feck it wasn't at school in front of all the kids and my colleagues :o

Oh whoops Bubba - hope you're ok.

I handed my MatB1 form in today, still don't know when my maternity leave will officially start so can't write the accompanying letter. It's all to do with our annual leave running Jan to Dec, seems far more complicated than it needs to be.

LadyBuzz - 5 buggies, blimey, I won't tell the DP that! :)

I'm shattered this evening, think it's definitely going to be an early one tonight.

BubbaAndBump · 15/09/2010 19:43

SHIT forgot to collect my MatB1 form again. Bloomin' pregnant brain!

AFAIK running you should be able to determine your own maternity leave start date?

OP posts:
ZippyPippy · 15/09/2010 21:18

Hi all,

Am back from hols, had a lovely week of doing absolutely nothing except sitting by the pool and reading (the last ever time i kept thinking!!)

Great to all the good scan results and welcome to alpine and madinitials.

Had our scan today and all looking good so very happy, but felt sad that's prob the last scan now unless there is a reason to do another I guess.

Sorry about your incident bubba, hope nothing more than your pride is hurt.

Madinitials · 15/09/2010 21:44

Cupcakes DD (nearly 13 months) shows no interest in walking yet and she loves a nap in her pushchair so I definitely think we will have to get a double.

Ladybuzz - queen of the doubles!! Which ones have you owned? I really like the Jane and hope to test drive one this weekend.

Bubba hope you're okay and glad the wee stayed in the pot.

FloraPost · 15/09/2010 22:01

Evening all. Very sick today so not a long post, but we had the scan this morning. All is well and tiny Flora is a boy. Yay!

RunningKatie · 16/09/2010 10:02

Zippy - your holiday sounds lovely, can't wait for mine but I suspect in the Lakes I'll not be lying by a pool! :)

Sorry to hear you're sicky Flora - hope it passes soon. Yay to knowing what flavour you're having.

Bubba - I thought that about my maternity leave start date, but they want me to take all my annual leave in one go, and in the year it's accrued. Not possible given that baby is due Jan 23rd and I'm taking the year off. So, have asked if it can be split, I really don't want to finish any earlier than Christmas eve which was to use up the remainder of my 2010 a/l. Babies in my family are typically 2 weeks late so if I finish in mid-Dec then I could be bonkers by Feb!

Bump complained this morning about my choice of breakfast, and then has been quite kicky since I got to work. I'm beginning to think it's not going to be a shy baby! Grin

LadyBuzz · 16/09/2010 11:10

madin I have had:

maclaren techno XT loved it but found the seat a little narrow for my chunky DS1

Cosatto duet lite - hated it only had it 3 weeks

Babystyle Aroo - as above!

OBaby Xi (like phil and teds) really liked it to push TBH and DS1 loved it cause he hopped in and out of the bottom whenever he wanted.

Mountain Buggy Urban double, I wanted this one so baby could be snuggled up in a carrycot in the cold! I haven't actually used it yet so can't really comment!

My friend had the Jane powertwin and loves it, I just struggled with tandems as DS1 was really heavy and all the weight was in front!

bubba hope you are OK after your fall

running I have my mat leave booked already, I leave on Dec 22nd (we close for christmas then anyway) I have taken 2 weeks A/L in Jan and officially start mat leave on Jan 10th, should have baby the end of the following week so its worked out fine.
I had 6 weeks off before DS1 and was bored stupid by the time he came!

LadyBuzz · 16/09/2010 11:11

oh and flora congratulations for your baby boy!

Fuzzywood · 16/09/2010 11:50

Congrats on the boy Flora
Ladybuzz very useful double pram info, thanks, not sure what we'll do as DD will be about 2 and a half by then and is a pretty good walker but when she does get tired will basically just stop so may well get a double.
Bubba hope you're ok after the fall. I keep forgetting about my MatB form too, definitely blaming pregnancy brain.
Welcome to the new people and congrats on your pregnancies.
I think I'm going to start maternity leave at the beginning of Dec as I need to get out of this place for a while. I'm basically doing a full time job in 4 days and it's killing me. With annual leave next year should mean I won't have to go back until Jan 2012. Will probably go mad with that amount of time before the bump arrives but I have visions of me being a domestic goddess in the run up to Christmas with a house worthy of a glossy mag feature!

scubamummy · 16/09/2010 11:58

Hello mummies

bubba you need to stop wearing stilettos! Wink glad you and the urine are ok.

zippy and flora congrats on your scan results! We had ours just this morning and all is well, we have a long-legged little madam on the way - yes, a girl! Dead chuffed. Grin Although I was CONVINCED it was a boy, so that shows what I know. It was crazy to see so much detail - she really looked like a little baby, you could see her nostrils and the general shape of her face!

Think the grandparents were all hoping for a boy, but tough!

Does anyone have a Bugaboo Bee? I'm thinking of getting a Bee Plus as I think it'd be good for city living, hopping off buses etc.

LadyBuzz · 16/09/2010 12:26

scuba a girl how lovely, I was convinced DS1 was a girl when I was pg and he def isn't Grin

CupcakesHay · 16/09/2010 17:13

Ooooh - I join the majority hoping bubba's ok - and didn't hurt too much (but equally laughing a little about the pee in the pot!)

Flora - when will you ever start to feel better?

And 2 boys... and a girl.... I was looking today and girl's have such lovely outfits!

Zippy hols sounded fab - def right about last chance to get peace from what i hear!

Can't help on double buggies, but luckily we have our residnet expert.

My mum is kindly ordering some baby things for me (and paying!) on Mothercare - so i'm going with Pecious Bar baby stuff, as my mum is convinced that if i have another baby it'll be a girl and i can use the same sheets, snoozie etc. Although she's really not convinced about the sleeping bag thingy, and keeps asking what is wrong with blanket and duvet.... but I keep insisting it's meant to be healthier (right???) Confused

Fuzzywood · 16/09/2010 18:19

Cupcakes i think sleeping bags are brilliant, no worrying about the little ones slipping under the covers. We used them for ages with DD. Also useful for getting them to settle in a strange cot as well when visiting family etc. Plus I think they're really cute.
Scuba little girls are fab, congrats.

FloraPost · 16/09/2010 19:20

Thanks everyone Smile. Now I shall bore you. Yesterday was so fun (the scan, obv)! For the 3rd scan in a row it took ages due to uncooperative tiny Flora. He put his hands over his chest and face when the lovely sonographer was trying to see his face and heart, then crossed his legs with the cord between them when she was trying to find out what sort he was. Cue me being sent off AGAIN for a walk and some OJ while she saw the next person before having another go. We saw him wave and swallow and suck his thumb and grab his feet. It seems a lot more real now and maybe I could be convinced that the shitbag that is pregnancy is worth it.

About a year ago we saw Tim Minchin and he ended the show with . I could barely keep it together on the tube home that night because I was so sure then we would never have a family (ttc took us 3.5 years, our families have no idea). I thought of the song yesterday after the scan and welled up again, but for such different reasons. Bloody hell, We're having a son!

(Slopes off to compose self)

CupcakesHay · 16/09/2010 19:44

Flora me and you are twins - I welled up at my latest scan - cos i was lying there thinking - FINALLY! We've done it. And yeah - so impressive cos the scan goes on soooo long you get to see loads. it took us 5 years of trying to get to this point too! HURRAH FOR BABIES!

BubbaAndBump · 16/09/2010 20:02

Hey lovely ladies, really glad those of you wanting to know the flavours are getting the news :)

Also really glad my wee-chucking, pride-losing fight with the car park floor has amused you all :o , and yes, I'm absolutely fine. MW said I had to keep an eye on myself for 24 hrs and if there was any bleeding or contractions to go straight to triage, but 24 hrs have passed and all is fine and dandy. BubbaBubba is kicking and wriggling and enjoying the evenings when I've stopped marching round school pretending to be grown up or putting little ones to bed.

In-laws here tomorrow though, so working late :o then sleeping wherever possible so I don't go mental Hmm Wish me luck.

Anyone bored fancy updating stats list ready for a new page? Can also now include boy/girl/surprise...

Smile Cupcakes, all that time ttc sucks, doesn't it? Starts to take over your life. I think the reality that there's an actual baby on the way has hit DP harder than me. I need to start following your shopping example or the poor scrap won't have a thing to call his own.

Glad you're ok Bubba. Sounds like you're in the middle of a tough week.

Scuba, congratulations on your little girl. I've been eyeing the bugaboos also. I like the look of the bee for hoiking around the London rail network but saw a few reviews which said that babies grow out of them quickly. I was therefore thinking chameleon. DP is thinking something a quarter of the price Hmm.

Fuzzy and LadyB that's a lot of leave beforehand but I guess it makes more sense if you already have DC. I'm going to book mine next week but not before I've used the MATB1 to get my 1st class train ticket upgrade, oh yes.
