Great news jjkm let's hope it stays!!

scuba sorry aout the car how awful :-( If it's any consolation the exhaust fell off mine whilst driving along on friday, I had to go and retrieve it out the road, very embarrassing!! Definitely need a new car for us too before baby arrives.

Great to hear about all the shopping and nesting that's going on. We're off on hols tomorrow, but once I'm back the shopping will kick in in earnest! LOVE the lilo with the hole in, wish I had one to take to Turkey with me!!!

Looking forward to hearing all the scan updates when I'm back x

RunningKatie · 06/09/2010 12:40

Morning all

Scan this morning, baby was fairly cooperative so we were done within 20mins. All is good, measurements as they should be, placenta fine etc. Got a nice pic of it too, which the girls at work have instantly declared to be a girl. :)

Also good news that i saw the consultant who said that I don't need to be under consultant led care and can go back to midwife care, makes appointments so much easier.

I think I'm finally entering the feeling well stage, I still get out of puff if we go out for walk but I've got loads more energy and foods I've avoided are finally reappearing on the menu.

DP has gone away now with work and not back till Friday so very happy all ok with scan, I know he would have stayed if there was a problem but I'm hoping for the remainder of a boring pregnancy!

Scuba - sorry to hear about your car.

Cupcakes - I'm another first time mum, desperate to go shopping. We're both off work next Monday so I might manage to go then if I bribe DP with the promise of a slice of cake. Grin

Fuzzywood · 07/09/2010 12:05

jjkm hope you're still feeling better.
scuba that's pants, have you heard anything from the police, are they likely to find it?
runningkate glad the scan went well definitely time to think about shopping. Think I might treat myself to a new change bag as the old one is falling apart. Hmmm things I never thought I'd get excited about...
All well here apart from sore ribs, no idea what that is all about. Kicks and prods are hard enough now to feel from the outside which DH is excited about but DD is a bit freaked about.

CupcakesHay · 07/09/2010 19:19

Hi All

I'm in Devon (YAY) and my parents are watching Emmerdale (ugh!) but had lovely flight - but was quite tired.

Got here and forgot I had bought something online on Tescos sale - so i opened a lovely package of baby sleepsuits and bibs - all Disney - a lovely Roo sleep suit, and a thumper one and an adorable Mickey Mouse T-Shirt. My DH is disney mad - so i think he'll lvoe them!

runningkate brill news about feeling better and pleased scan went well.

Have scan tomorrow... hoping i can go midwife led too!

fuzzy Go shopping! New changing bag def needed... i'm getting a skip hop one for Christmas. Hurrah!

Dreading going to school to do my reasearch placement - have no idea how I'll manage to get up in time! On the plus size, my mum has loads of my clothes here that fit me still! Yay. :)

Hi

I just wanted to say hello on this thread, because I've just signed up to the site, am due on Jan 25th, and have been enjoying reading your posts.

saltnvinigarcrips · 07/09/2010 21:08

Hi Alpine. Welcome to the group. I haven't been on for ages as hectic summmer holiday. Hope everyone is well, I haven't caught up on the previous pages but OMG Cupcakes you have done loads of shopping! You are so organised and I have done nothing so now thinking I need to start getting my act together lol. Actually i've wanted to wait til after 20 week scan which is tomorrow so hopefully, all being well, I can buy something on Saturday. Nervous about scan as have hardly felt any movement but I have an anterior placenta so that is to be expected but a bit pants really. Desperate to feel a little kick or something. Does anyone else have an anterior placenta. Read it on my notes from 12 week scan.

FloraPost · 08/09/2010 06:53

So jealous of people getting your 20 week scans! Mine isn't until next Wednesday. I'm almost sure the baby is making him/herself felt now. The first possible boot was about 10 days ago, but so hard to know. My book says that cartilage converts to bone this week, so kicks should get harder.

I started taking iron tablets at the weekend and have SO much more energy already. Wish I'd thought of it before.

Bump is growing a bit but still no mat clothes for me, which is pretty pleasing as I dread clothes shopping. Also, weirdly, my tum seems to fluctuate in size a bit from day to day Hmm. Anyone else finding this? It always feels hard under the skin, maybe whatever's behind the baby is shifting about (may cut down on the bran flakes and prunes emoticon).

RunningKatie · 08/09/2010 09:51

Welcome Alpine :)

Bump is definitely growing, although comments that I'm "massive" are not going down well. Flora - I think my bump slightly changes in size a bit day by day, but it could just be what I'm wearing.

Was all teary and emotional last night, not much sleep the previous night, DP being away, getting a bit too much well meaning but slightly interfering advice from my Mum etc.... Feeling much better today, and just spoke to the midwife who is doing my MatB1 form today so I can officially tell work I'm pregnant and start organising all that.

I think my bump objected yesterday when I wheeled my chair a bit close to the desk, so found myself apologising to it and moving. Good job my colleagues already know I'm slightly bonkers!

CupcakesHay · 08/09/2010 10:35

runningkate bet you're pleased to tell work.... love the apologising to bump! I spend half my life talking to mine. I hate the getting teary for no reason!

Off to hospital for my 20 wk scan today and they called me this morning to say they might have to take blood - and i'm a nightmare for getting blood out of...c they had to get it out of my hand last time and i cried.... so have a fun day ahead of me :(

HELLO ALPINE - nice of you to join us. How's everything going? Is this your first?

flora my bump was really hard this morning but is now wibbly again. think i felt it kick last night.

salt Grin I read you comment out to my mum and she laughed and said i've never been organised in my life! but going REAL shopping this afternoon. Hope it was a nice hectic holiday!

RunningKatie · 08/09/2010 12:48

If you found out there was a Mama's & Papa's discount shop nearby it'd be rude to not go and have a look wouldn't it? Grin

Alpinechildcare · 08/09/2010 14:04

Hi again.

Yes it is my first. My tum also massively fluctuates throughout the day. I wake up looking normal and flat at the front with no bump at all. Then throughout the morning it starts to appear, and by bedtime I look properly pregnant.

I've always had serious bloating though, and to be honest the evening bump looks fairly similar to how I've always looked after eating a massive meal.

I was starting to really worry about not having a 'proper' bump, until about a week ago when I started getting prodded from the inside, so now I know he/she is definitely still in there!

Got a scan in 10 days so looking forward to a bit more reassures that it is growing as it should be.

On another point, does anyone else have a constant pulsing, or throbbing (not painful) kind of feeling in their abdomen? At first I thought it was baby, but it is non stop all day and night, and feels very different to the prods I get occasionally.

LadyBuzz · 08/09/2010 15:15

runningkatie it would be very very rude! Grin

Hope the scan went well cupcakes and baby behaved!

Welcome alpine and congratulations

I have had a hectic couple of days, DS1 started school on Monday and he loves it, my SIL was broken hearted and he just walked in waving as he went!

Starting to get a few kicks and prods here too, I felt DS2 much much earlier but then this baby is lazy as I know from the scans, I can't wait til my next one to see if the little bugger darling will let me find out what it is!

hope everyone else is well!

LadyBuzz · 08/09/2010 15:28

i've put a couple of photos on if anyone is interested!

scubamummy · 08/09/2010 17:26

Hi all,

Lovely to hear about your scans going well! Can't wait til mine next Thursday.

LadyBuzz cute piccies of DS! Can't imagine sending bump to school, seems soooo far away but I guess time just flies by?

alpine welcome! My bump goes up and down too. It's popped out massively since I had a huge meal last night, DH's eyes goggled when he saw me this morning and he keeps giggling whenever I walk past(in an affectionate, not cruel way!!)

Thanks for your concern about the car! The good news is that it was found yesterday - 10 miles away in Dagenham! The bad news is that the passenger window was smashed in so needs to be fixed, but all covered under insurance. Silly thieves left a bag of hi-vis vests in the boot and a PSP game! Must have been kids, the police are unlikely to catch them. Going to get a car alarm fitted - don't want that happening again!

Does anyone know if the NHS cover osteopaths for pregnancy? I've got a really sore pelvis, the left side just feels like it needs to be clicked into place somehow.

LadyBuzz · 08/09/2010 18:10

scuba it really does fly by, it only seems like yesterday that he was born!

Glad they found your car, I'm sure you didn't need the hassle!

Ah lovely photos Ladybuzz
Couple of days off work for me now and my mum is staying for a few days so no work and I get looked after, yay!

Ryuk · 08/09/2010 23:57

Aaaahhhh we had a scan. Everything is perfect fine. He kept moving his head and wriggling, and had his legs crossed when the sonographer was trying to check leg bones. Hurrah for contraryness. Grin

FloraPost · 09/09/2010 07:36

Congratulation Ryuk. Definitely a boy then?

CupcakesHay · 09/09/2010 16:32

Hello Ladies

Aaah - well.... had a scan, but they had booked me in for a dating scan (?) so they couldn't do my proper scan - but as there was a trainee there, and they had me booked in and my mum was there, they did a quick scan and took some measurements for practice - so all fine. Also took some blood for more tests that i haven't had done previously, and all in all - very pleased with place where I'll be popping the baby out.

So have scan next tues now!

But, shopping was fab bought a little top in M&S, my dad insisted on buying a lovely little preppy vest thingy in next, and then we bought an outfit which is exactly the sort of thing my DH wears - little jeans and a polo shirt. Of course, have kept recipts in case it is a girl....

ryuk I think perfect is right!!!

lady love the pictures sooooooo cute. And so pleased he's happy at school - very important.

fuzzy i'm being pampered by parents too - so so amazing isn't it! makes me feel special!

And most importantly - scuba thank god about the car - huge relief! I mean, hassle with the window, but def less hassle than a new car!

OK - all you mums out there.... what do babies wear - do they wear a vest, and then a bodysuit?

What are the ones for which have long arms, but no legs?

I feel so clueless- and my mum is trying to figure, but obviously 30+ years since she had babies and stuff has changed. Hmm! :)

Ryuk · 09/09/2010 16:50

Sounds like you're having fun CupcakesHay! Smile (although I'd just keep the polo shirt and jeans even if it's a girl - it sounds like a cute outfit either way!)

FloraPost, yep, they checked. First she warned us that it wasn't 100%, but then moved the scanner and it looked rather, well, obvious. lol.

Ryuk · 09/09/2010 16:51

DP is glad because it means we can narrow the names list further. Smile

FloraPost · 09/09/2010 18:46

Aw, lovely. I've had a really strong feeling all the way through that the floralet is a girl, but given the choice I would want a boy (happy with either obv.). S/he has been pretty quiet today but I assume that's cos I've been in bed.
