cupcakes my DS1 is Luke, Luke William funnily enough! it is a lovely name Grin

A parasite? that is a new one, a hyperactive alien maybe but parasite? a tad harsh maybe!

My new pushchair arrived this week Grin Grin Grin you would think after 4 years I would get over it, I am most definately a pramaholic! Any problems with doubles ask me i have had them all!

BubbaAndBump · 03/09/2010 17:24

lol we had Seth as a definite, definite name for DD1 while pg (thinking I was having a boy Hmm) then went off it totally by about 8mnths
We also like Duncan - a bit scottish (I am 1/2 scots) and one of DH's best friends is called Duncan (my DD1 is named after one of my best friends)...
I'm not giving away my real thoughts on names yet as I don't like jinxing it - haven't even had the 20 week scan yet, although the little bugger sweet thing is hoofing away inside me whenever I sit down (which has been a lot these past few days :o :o

what pram have you got now LadyB?

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 03/09/2010 18:40

I have a mountain buggy urban double with a single carrycot for baby and the normal seat for DS2, I LOVE it, I made DS1 get in it yesterday to see what it was like to push and it is light as a feather! def the best so far!

I also have my trusty pramette for the pram part, a bebeconfort Loola for the rear facing part and 3 strollers of various varieties Blush DH thinks i'm nuts Grin

BubbaAndBump · 03/09/2010 18:50

You are certifiably nuts :o but you're far from alone - my sisters and friends are all nuts too :)

I, on the other hand, am very sane and normal Hmm and have cheap buggies/prams caked in mud and remnants of cunting ricecakes :o

FECK ME!! I've just googled them and they don't look cheap!! Are they growing £50 notes on the trees up north or summat? Wink

btw, how you getting on with looking at 3rd car seat? it's proving a bit troublesome :(

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 03/09/2010 20:16

oooh no its second hand off ebay! DH would have passed a brick if i'd suggested a new one Grin

We have got a britax first class si from birth, a britax evolva 123 for DS1 and a very narrow booster for DS2 from Halfords, no chance of a high back one fitting at all. We have a renault grand scenic though so we do have the 7 seat option if we really need it though but the 2 rear seats are really small so only take the booster, the middle 3 are 3 true seats which helps although the middle one is small. What kind of car do you have?

Fuzzywood · 03/09/2010 20:56

Some lovely names you've picked out. I just can't think of any. DD has a Welsh name as I'm Welsh and I'd like another Welsh name but have to be careful as living in Bucks anything 'difficult' to pronounce would sound stupid.
Very jealous of the Champneys trip Running, I feel like I've been on my feet all day today and my back is aching so just what I need right now. Pinching DD's Smarties instead, hopefully she won't notice.
What's everyone got planned for the weekend, weather looks pretty good. We're off for a picnic on Sunday so fingers crossed it's still sunny.

Oops sorry for double post, typing on my phone is the only excuse I have!

BubbaAndBump · 03/09/2010 21:13

Maybe you're just very very jealous of Running's champneys trip hence the double post Fuzzy? :o

We have a Toyota prius LadyB which is narrow and curved in the back - but my DD1 although 15Kg (just) is a mere slip of a thing, so would really like a high-back for her... Waiting for the 20 week scan (and some money at the end of September!!) before we're going to brave the shops to find out if we're likely to need a new car Confused Shock or whether we can get away with what we have (may get DH to run behind the car instead).

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 03/09/2010 21:28

hmmm that is a hard one, we got a new car last year and took into account the possibility of needing 3 seats in the back, we really struggled but the britax seats are huge, you could try popping to halfords first and look at replacing the seats instead of the whole car? still not cheap but def better then car prices, they are usually quite good in there.

I do like your idea of getting DH to run mind you Wink

BubbaAndBump · 03/09/2010 21:47

Yes, you're clevererererer than us - we got our car just two years ago but didn't foresee the 3-in-the-back scenario, despite always wanting three (doh)!

Yep, Halfords & Mothercare here we come (well, not quite yet - but when I start to get paid for my new grown-up job). I also know of an American-made seat - the Radian Sunshine or something similar - which is supposed to be particularly narrow, although not sure about meeting European guidelines or being able to buy it here - still, shipping it would be cheaper than a new car.

Nesting setting in jjkm :o :o
Did you read the thread with the DH who suddenly had £20k in his account which his wife knew nothing about? Possibly gave your dream brain the idea!

Just had a lovely time with DD1 talking about the baby - she was singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star to it, felt it kick, talked about belly buttons (we saw a pic of a 20wk old baby with the umbilical cord attached) etc etc. Very sweet. She wants to call him (!) Jill though. Hmm. Will see about that one. (no) :o

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 04/09/2010 08:04

oh bubba why not Jill is a lovely name for a boy Hmm.

jjkm sounds like you are nesting Grin maybe it kicks in early with twins! glad you are starting to feel better - long may it last!

BubbaAndBump · 04/09/2010 08:11

lol

Have you told your boys yet? Are they at all interested? Thought DD was very interested, asking lots of questions, then she got all thoughtful-faced (?) and said "ermm, mummy?" I said "yes?" (expecting a deep and meaningful question), she goes, "do you think we should have cereal or toast for breakfast?" Hmm :o

I saw a thread on here about a fab thing which saved people having to buy new cars - it's a kind of giant big car seat which fits in the back of small cars... let me see if i saved the details... damn - didn't.... I'll have a look in the car seat thread.

I'm planning to get a Brittax first class car seat. Got an ultimo pram (second hand) - binning car seat but figure the rest will do til we move back to Uk in 2 years time....

jjkm orange concentrate sounds fab - thank god you can eat something.

Wish all you nesters would come to mine and tidy for me...I keep hoping it will kick in - but not yet!

Had a dreadful day yesterdya - had very bad tummy problems and felt crappy all day - and then Dh went to play footie and my cat just miaowed for 20misn til i properly Blush shouted at him, and then got upset cos i shouted and it turned out they'd run out of water. So felt very very bad :( and then started hoping i wouldn't be like that to baby.

Dh came home to find me sobbing like a girl cuddling cat!

CupcakesHay · 04/09/2010 09:32

Here's the MN thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/car_seats_chat/1031929-Multimac

and here's the website:

looks fab...

FloraPost · 04/09/2010 09:55

We are putting off major buys like buggy & car seat until 24 weeks, then doing it all in one go. John Lewis does this thing where you book an appointment with their baby dept and they take you through everything you need and demonstrate the different ones - bit like doing a wedding list I think.

Glad to hear you're getting some energy back, jjkm. I was sure I'd be sick yesterday because I ate 2 krispy kremes (boss bought them in) but, incredibly, they stayed down. Didn't get sick til the middle of the night when there was nothing to bring up. The noise woke DP; he thought the cat was dying.

I did a bad bad thing today. I ate an ibuprofen.

God, it was lovely. A proper no-nonsense American one too, mmmm. First over-the-counter pharmaceutical in 5 months and I feel like a new woman. I'm off to fight a tiger now before my massage.

BubbaAndBump · 04/09/2010 11:24

lol @ flora with your ibuprofen fuelled tiger-fighting! - enjoy the massage Envy

I don't think I bought anything for DD1 until I was about 36/37 weeks, then suddenly realised I was due to have a baby fairly soon :o We were lucky and got quite a few hand me downs (although it's a big no-no for hand me down mattresses, and car seats only if you're 100% sure it hasn't been used in an accident before)

me too bubba, my matress was second hand but had only been slept on twice by my cousins LO, so I thought that would be fine!
Car seats have all been brand new though.

I have told the boys, DS1 is very excited and says it definately a girl, DS2 couldn't care less, he points to my bump and says baby but he doesn't get it really.

Hope you had a good massage flora

jjkm nesting or not if it makes you feel good then why not.

BubbaAndBump · 04/09/2010 16:52

"I have told the boys, DS1 is very excited and says it definately a girl, DS2 couldn't care less, he points to my bump and says baby but he doesn't get it really." lol - substitute DS for DD and boy for girl and we have exactly the same conversations here :)

jjkm keep on with re-arranging furniture, it's a very satisfying thing to do (and relish DH's concern for you to take it easy - that soon goes :o )

scubamummy · 04/09/2010 19:23

Can't remember if you ladies have said if you're finding out the sex at the scan. I'm still trying to convince DH that we should but he's not budging grr! Ours is in a couple of weeks, cannot wait to see how bub has grown!

Really want to start buying prams but DH wants to wait til the January sales. Was this close to buying stuff at Mothercare online over the bank holiday weekend but was thwarted by DH again, hmm seems to be a theme going on here...

Pretty glad we didn't get a carseat yet as our car got nicked yesterday! Angry CDs, tomtom and my pregnancy over-the-bump carseat all with it too :( Bloody thieves, hope they rot.

Have been consoling myself with cookies.

scubamummy · 04/09/2010 19:28

Oh yes, seen a great pregnancy lilo on sale, think that masseurs and therapists are using it for their pg clients. Here - hilarious! Was thinking about asking for it for a bday pressie just so's I can get to sleep on my front again

CupcakesHay · 04/09/2010 19:52

Poor poor you scuba - how horrid! Hope they catch them.

Love the idea of krispie kremes flora - not long now til i'm in the land of the living!

I went to a baby shop today with DH a it had a 40% sale on..... so most of the tops were reduced to £15! Crazy prices still! But was so posh - and sooooo lovely to walk around and DH was actually looking at cribs and chairs and seemed slightly more excited...

I think i might make him go into Mothercare with me when we're home as i have a feeling seeing catalogues doesn't do much for him - but stuff in real life does it (hopefully)

And i was bad - i bougth stuff at about 10 weeks - but i had had a scan by then... I've already bought (from ebay/gumtree) - 2 different rainforest activity gyms/mats, a rainforest cradle swing and a mamas and papas changing table. Have the pram, got a moses basket over here, crib is provided by embassy and friends giving me a bouncy chair, bath seats and sleep postioner thing :) Oh and my mum bought me a mamas and papas snail rocker (not useful til there sitting up - but who's complaining!)

So not much i need to get! decided on the car seat. Need to get moses mattress, sheets and stuff and planning to buy flip or bumgenius reuseable nappies (not just from eco point of view - but such pretty colours and my water and elec bills here are silly-low so not going to add much to it. (did i say the colours were pretty) - although DH says colours won't be so nice with smelly poo running all over them! :)

Can you spot i'm a first time mum???? Grin

AND I LOVE THE LILO! I want one!!!!
