Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

aly323 I had placenta previa with my first DC but it pinged back into the right place in time - I think I got an extra scan at 36 weeks or so to confirm this. I hope you get the same good luck

Great news on all the scans. Bubba sorry you were there so long, we were in and out within 10 mins (just like the conception my oh so funny DH keeps telling people )

Don't worry moulefrites he didn't really move for us either and the sonographer didn't seem concerned.

ladybuzz I hope you and the family feel better soon.

KnitterNotTwitter · 19/07/2010 10:46

Hey lovely ladies

My bean has been all quiet for a few days - I was feeling it move quite regularly but nothing over the weekend - I'm trying to remain calm and convince myself that it's just turned round and so I can't feel it - but I would rather that it turned round again....

Thanks for the stats updates:

Evening all,

I had my scan and bloods today so have updated the stats. New due date is 29 Jan; only 1 day out from my own calculation which is pretty pleasing.

The bean was flailing about madly throughout the scan, somersaulting, flexing its little fists and whacking the placenta with its feet. We saw it from every possible angle . It took 2 sonographers resorting to a dildocam (boo) and about 50 minutes to get the measurements they needed, I kid you not. Even then they still couldn't see the heart or stomach clearly but it was very cool to see all the little bones and the face. The print outs are very fuzzy unfortunately because the bean just wouldn't sit still long enough for a screenshot!

On the positive side, our risk of Downs is 1:1619 so we decided not to go for CVS. If I change my mind on that before the end of this week I can go back and have it. On the down side, the nuchal fold is 2.5mm which is outside normal range and above the 95th centile. Taken in isolation, this means a slightly increased risk of cardiac problems so we are having another scan at 16 weeks when the heart will be bigger and any defects visible. I lost it a bit when we got home, but actually the increased risk is quite small. We are lucky to have got the scan and blood results instantly and also lucky that there seem to be no chromosomal abnormalities.

I got my wish of feeling ok for the festival and we had a great time. I just hope that 4 good days in a row turn into 5...

Hey Flora good to get the bloods results so quickly - I have to wait two weeks for mine! My measurement was 2.1 but they were fine with that, saying anything over 3 was when they would become concerned?

Any more scans coming ladies? I'll start a new thread when most people who are checking in have had theirs...

Fuzzywood · 20/07/2010 13:45

Hi all, glad to see the good news from scans is still coming in. I got my combined scan and bloods screening results yesterday and it's very good news (1 in 21000) for DS so very relieved about that. Being 35 it's been playing on my mind a bit.
Think I may be starting to feel the bean move abut which is lovely, well it's that or wind
Good luck to anyone with scans this week.

Shanster · 20/07/2010 18:18

Hey BubbaandBump, my scan is on 28/7, time is just CRAWLING by here. Will the first trimester ever end (and does it end at 12 or 14 weeks)?

BubbaAndBump · 20/07/2010 19:07

Poor you shanster that does seem ages away still! I sympathise! I count 1st trimester as ending once you have the scan and you feel re-energised. Officially I suppose it would be just over 13 weeks as pregnancy's supposed to be 40 and that's a third.

Glad to hear you're starting to feel flutterings Fuzzy and really good news with your stats - I'm also 35 and it's playing on my mind too.

We're off on holiday for 3 weeks at the weekend. so somebody else may have to start a new thread, but make sure there's a link for me to find you all again!

Went to the hosptial for my blood tests yesterday - we get the results next Monday when we go in for our scan - that's the 26/7. Seems to be ages away but the weekend will whizz by as we're off seing 4 lots of friends - a grand tour of North London!!

KnitterNotTwitter · 21/07/2010 10:11

oooh and one other thing i've actually lost a kilogram in the last 11 days - I guess it's because the rampant hunger I had has gone so now i'm eating more normally again but even so I was expecting to have put on weight...

I wouldn't consider a home birth because I wouldn't want the neighbours to hear me bellowing like an elk. Also, even though the hospital is close by, I wouldn't want to have to be moved during labour if something goes wrong. I guess you feel more confident as it's your 2nd. Sorry, not much help!

A friend who opted for home births was sent a kit by the hospital - miles and miles of plastic sheeting. That pretty much told me all I needed to know .

ZippyPippy · 21/07/2010 20:57

Hi everyone, glad to hear more good scan results coming in.

Now I've had my scan I have told work, I was really dreading it as I've only been there 12 weeks and am nearly 14 weeks pregnant, so the timing was a bit unfortunate but they were really good about it and are delighted for me. Not much they can say really.....

So relieved it's all out in the open and I can tell the world now! Feel like I've been living a double life between the people that do know and the people that don't.

Not planning a home birth Fiolondon would have loved to if I'd felt braver as I hate hospitals!!

Have a great holiday bubba.

huffpuff75 · 21/07/2010 21:48

Hi everyone

Not been around for a while, but thought I'd check in. Had my scan about ten days ago, and all well. However my dates have changed to edd of 14 Jan so no longer due late Jan with you all. So I'll probably just lurk from here on in, just to check on how everyone's doing. Good luck to everyone

huffpuff

Blimey Fio, which hospital was it?

BubbaAndBump · 22/07/2010 07:48

Morning ladies. For those of you with DCs already, be ready to weep: I have a day to myself today!!!!! My school broke up yesterday, DH's breaks up today, and the girls are in nursery/pre-school (all pre-paid, so no point in wasting it!! ) So I am toute seule today, still in dressing gown and the telly is on, and not a Mr Tumble in sight

No to homebirth for me Fio but only because they've advised against it. As the choice has (pretty much) been taken away from me, I've not put thought into it. Sure you're not alone though.

There'll be no mooing or bellowing for me this time; I'll do a polite, dainty sneeze and out it will pop!

OP posts:
Fuzzywood · 22/07/2010 10:15

Bubba I'm very jealous! Stuck in work in trousers that are way too tight wishing I could go home already.
Fio I'd add arnica tablets and tea tree oil to the list to help with any bruising or stiches. Then lots of chocolate!
Right better do some work I suppose, have a good day.

KnitterNotTwitter · 22/07/2010 16:35

Hey ladies

Just to let you know that I had a bleed yesterday and so went to the EPU today. Very sadly they've confirmed that my baby has died. I am beyond sad....

Can someone update the stats please?

Thanks
