oh Knitter, how awful I'm so sorry x

WestYorkshireGirl · 22/07/2010 18:11

Knitter Really sorry to hear this and am thinking if you. I lost my previous baby so know how you are feeling. If you have any questions, just ask. There's lots of support on the miscarriage boards and give yourself time to grieve.

London hospitals are very busy - I was told during my first labour to hold on as there was no room available!!

I've been advised not to go for a homebirth as I bled massively during both previous labours and had to have blood transfusions and both babies were very large and so needed a helping hand .

I'm so very sorry Knitter, hope you have lots of RL support.

FloraPost · 22/07/2010 20:05

Fair enough Fio, that sounds pretty scary. I work in NHS complaints so am quite interested in hearing about how different places operate.

We have a choice of 6 hospitals spread across 3 different trusts. The closest one (which we have gone for) isn't the best rated, but it's 5 minutes down the road which counts for a lot IMO. DP wants Kings, but the only way I'd get in there would be to pitch a tent in the car park from 38 weeks onwards .

Fuzzywood · 22/07/2010 20:48

Knitter I'm so sorry, that's just awful, sending lots of love.

Fio I'm going for a homebirth and have independent mw booked.

Been shopping for maternity clothes today at big shopping centre and managed to get a few things - the Next sale was very good! Am amazed at how sizes vary - some tops just looked like tents whilst others I could hardly get on!!!

Fuzzywood · 23/07/2010 22:29

Having to give up on the normal clothes and get the maternity gear out of the loft. Also went to Blooming Marvellous today who are having a closing down sale so managed to get 2 pairs of trousers, a skirt and a top for £35 result! Don't know if they're all closing down, worth a look if they are. Have a good weekend all x

FloraPost · 24/07/2010 05:27

Don't know. Could be because Kings is a foetal medicine research centre, although obviously that doesn't automatically guarantee good midwifery care. I don't want to go there anyway, it's too far.

Looks from there website as though Blooming Marvellous is closing down. They hardly have any stock. I'm still holding out against mat clothes for as long as possible.

As you can tell, the non-bump has woken me up early today. Does anyone else find it impossible to sleep on their back anymore? I woke with some fairly painful cramping which I hope is digestive. Will have a cuppa and see if I can get back to sleep.

BubbaAndBump · 24/07/2010 08:14

I keep waking at stupid o'clock and finding my back and my tummy too uncomfy. I'm trying to get into the lying on my left side thingy for later on, as I don't naturally find it comfortable. Am already sleeping with a pillow supporting the boobs and the bump - no wonder sex has pretty much gone out the window - I'm getting all my cuddles from a pillow!!

fiolondon, I hope that's not true, I have never really been into kegels and I don't want to have to graduate from normal pantyliners to tena!!!

I no longer feel sick and am seriously hungry, just dispatched DH out to pick up Mexican food (not something I am normally crazy for) but am craving guacamole! Also have weird stitch like pain on my left side, not a cramp but more like muscles being pulled around the side of my tummy. Can't remember if I had this last time or not

Fio I was converted to home birth about 17 years ago when I met someone who was training to be an IM and who went on to become a very close friend. She worked with Caroline Flint in London at St Thomas' Birthing Centre and then went freelance when she moved to Yorkshire. Luckily because we're friends she's not charging me a fee - just expenses, but I would try and find the money for an IM even if I didn't have my friend. When you read up about the pros vs the cons, it makes so much sense for low risk pregnancies and compared to the care I've received from the NHS MW so far, the two are poles apart!

Anyone else still struggling with disrupted sleep? Last night and Fri night I woke up at 2am and was awake till 6am so I am really tired!

Hope everyone else is OK - it's been quiet on here lately!

FloraPost · 26/07/2010 07:02

Ugh, horrible horrible weekend. Only got out of bed yesterday to be sick, and also brought up several foods which were previously on the list of Things Which Will Stay Down. I will go into work this morning, but feeling very weak and petrifed about getting ill there. The blood tests at the scan showed that my hcg level was out-of-range high. Would this explain why the sickness is getting worse not better? Hope the rest of you are getting on better, notwithstanding disrupted sleep.

WestYorkshireGirl · 26/07/2010 10:44

Flora Sorry to hear about the sickness - sounds horrible. I have no experience of sickness as haven't had any with either pregnancy - perhaps it's worth asking the Dr or MW as I know there can be very severe forms of MS?

saltnvinigarcrips · 26/07/2010 13:00

Hey sorry i've been off the radar. Hope everyone is doing well and hope you start to feel better soon flora. Sounds awful! Like WYG i think i've got away very lightly indeed . Now broken up for the summer so just seem to be catching up on sleep, can't seem to get enough but i've always been a greedy sleeper so not sure if it is me being me, or me being pregnant lol.
Anyway, i'm 30 and on a mission to finally do my driving test this holiday so wish me luck. I really want to be driving come September for the Winter term and also I believe it will make life a lot easier once i'm on maternity. I've booked a refresher intensive course which is costing me a packet so fingers crossed I will pass. Either way i will let you all know.
Sorry for the ramble but Trisha has finished and now i'm bored which is why i figure i must learn to drive so me and baby can go on nice day trips
Anyone else fancy a ramble?

FloraPost · 26/07/2010 18:50

Sorry for the self-indulgent whingeing this morning. I don't think I have it particularly bad tbh as the sickness isn't that bad every day and didn't even start 'til 10 weeks. I could just scream with frustration (if I didn't feel so rubbish) when a bad day appears though because I don't know what prompts them. It also means I don't feel things are improving because a crap day or two can follow several ok ones. Ho hum.

Salt, that sounds like a fab idea. I'm sure it will all come back really quickly if you took lessons before. Day trips with the little one is a lovely idea.

Fio, sorry, didn't mean to ignore your question. Assuming the bub has no heart problems, we will go to the Princess Royal in Bromley.

Hello all

Had a rubbish weekend, and am feeling sorry for myself. Had been struggling with a sore throat for a few days which then turned into a chesty cough and temperature, followed by throwing up too.

Haven't been to work yet this work so I'm dreading what I'll walk back into. Debating whether I should go back tomorrow, OH works from home and as I've been coughing every time I move I think he's coming round to the idea I should take another day off.

Surely it's about time the pregnancy glow bit I've heard about should kick in?!

Anyway, I hope everyone else is fairing well
