Sorry - got a bit delayed there as my mum rang and was rambling on about some baby monitor that's apparently supposed to be £400, but Macro have it for £90. I told her I didn't believe that you could get a monitor for £400!!

Best places:

3 Harrogate (been there a few times - always thought it seemed nice)
2 Westminster (includes Soho and Maida Vale)
1 Epsom & Ewell

Worst place:

1 (Kingston upon) Hull

You're safe SC - phew!

oh my goodness, i go away for a few days and it all kicks off here.... this is such a long thread already!

I don't have time to read it all just at the mo, so instead I will give a quick update to what is happening here.

I had my first appointment with my consultant yesterday. it turns out that he has actually given up ante natal care but wants to look after me and so is making time for a one off special clinic for me and it also means that I will be seeing him every time and I wont have any appointments with the midwife unless I feel I need one in between.
Anyway, I went for my first appointment with this pregnancy yesterday and everything is looking good. Tomorrow I will be exactly 11 weeks (I feel far behind the rest of you all!). We could see the baby and the heartbeat and he was happy with everything. We have our next appointment in 3 weeks.
I feel a tiny bit happier after speaking with him, but Im still taking every day as it comes. I know it sounds bad, but Im just not as excited this time around at all.
I have put on a bit of weight. I'm not feeling too sick now but im still tired. All the weight is going on my round bum... lovely, not. Still don't look pregnant though. Going to try and keep it a secret for a while yet. Hopefully I might get to about 16 weeks without anyone catching on, although Ive heard that you show much earlier with your second... is this true????
So that is all my news for the mo.
Need to now read through the looonnnng thread.
ta ta for now.
Hope youre all doing well.
XxX

Tabs... whats wrong with Nottingham? Not that I've been there, but I always assumed it was quite nice!

Am aching like mad today, after a mammoth trek round the woods yesterday, which ds obviously wanted a carry half way round. I miss my hipseat! I suppose the exercise did me good though.
Think I also had a big burst of hormones yesterday. Without going into boring detail, got overly sensitive at something a friend did, spent all morning holding back the tears and sarky comments, and burst into floods when we got home at 2pm. At which point dh phoned and thought I'd gone loopy, then got the whole lot again when he got in at night. Tell me its hormonal, not that I really am going bizarre!

flamesparrow · 10/08/2005 08:38

LOL - DH comes from the next place over from Merthyr Tydfil!!!

I'm having lots of twingey pains in the evenings at the moment - assuming it is from just basic day to day stretching (not low enough to be sinister, so don't panic!).

A tad constipated from the iron pills (don't you just love it when I share ), so eating alpen for breakfast, but the milk will probably set off the sickness!!!

Need to go get different folic acid pills, then I can stop taking the ones I'm on with the added iron, have spatone iron, and not have pooey issues!

Oooh the joys of pregnancy! I'm actually (so far) getting the pregnancy I dreamt of... Last time was such a nightmare with constant sickness, I was miserable and felt cheated. This time I seem to have got the sickness sussed (I think milk allergy was the biggest factor last time). I have had sickness, but I feel like that way I know all is well - I'd have been worried with none, and i'm tired, but I'm always tired so no big surprise there, I'm just getting to enjoy each change this time, rather than worrying about more time off work, and how clean my toilet looks when you get close to it!

TicTac · 10/08/2005 09:12

Morning All,

After posting my "isn't it quiet" note last night I headed for the bathroom where I then spent the rest of the evening

Nearly 14 weeks preg and still being sick....please tell me it will stop really soon

OP posts:
flamesparrow · 10/08/2005 09:26

Oh no!! Huge huge gentle non squeezing hugs!

Why don't you try looking at your diet and see if you can spot some sort of bizarre pregnancy allergy trigger? I just went with a process of elimination, starting with what I was eating most (was craving milk at the time), and luckily, it was the very first thing I stopped!!

TicTac · 10/08/2005 10:01

Hi Flame - my eating is that odd since being preg I am not sure where I would start. Funny I have drank a lot of milk but not recently so I guess that's not it.
I never really eat the same thing (really fussy at the minute) so I can't find any triggers

Would quite like to not throw up anymore please

omg...I have the worst heartburn!!! Am at work and can't get any relief until lunchtime...mwah!

On a nicer note, I think I may have felt the baby moving last night in bed (or I may well have imagined it)...I was trying to drop off but had a feeling like I was really nervous, then realised it was because my tummy was trembling and twitchy...very strange sensation...

As I concentrated, I could feel some more obvious twitches...I had it this morning as well and...yes now!! although now it feels like ickle trembles on the inside of my spine? (sorry, never very good at articulating things like this...)

All those in the know...am I imagining?

spacecadet · 10/08/2005 11:25

tabs-i missed your last post as i crawled off to bed!, thankfully i dont live in any of the worst places then-yay!
angedemarche, lovely to hear from you, glad all is well, what a lovely consultant, to see you specifically, im sure you will get the best ante-natal care there is, great news on your scan btw.
tic-tac, im still not over my sickness and i seem to get a horrible heartburn type feeling, its nowhere near as bad, bit not gone completely, i still brought my breckie up this morning.
my boobs feel huge, im going to have to get my mothercare bra out.

spacecadet · 10/08/2005 11:27

teuch, that sounds like movement, its like flutterings or taps at first, i love it when you start to feel the baby moving

TicTac · 10/08/2005 11:45

Space - Sorry that you are still doing the loo run but it makes me feel a bit better to know I am not on my own. Especially as we are due the same day!

Wow...baby movement already, that is great!

OP posts:
teuch · 10/08/2005 11:49

remember I am really an interloper on this thread...

my mum and sis both felt movements at between 14 and 16wks as well...

...either that or it's wind

TicTac · 10/08/2005 11:57

Your forgiven Teuch...we love having you in here ;-)

I have had plenty of wind I might ask my mum when did she feel me move...she is a bit special though, I doubt she will remember....she really would have thought I was wind

OP posts:
spacecadet · 10/08/2005 11:59

i felt my first baby move at 16 weeks, id prob been feeling it for a couple of weeks more but didnt know what it was!...im really tired today and feel like rubbish..have to get the train to london later today too which i could do without.

Tabs · 10/08/2005 13:05

Ixel - I was surprised by Nottingham too, but apparently it's due to crime rates (drug related gun battles ).

teuch - I was already jealous of your bump, but now movement too . I don't think of you as an interloper, as you're only due 3 days before me (your date hasn't moved from 30th Jan has it?).

Ginger filled hugs to those of you still feeling sick.

TicTac · 10/08/2005 13:12

Thanks tabs!

Hello to everyone.....I have been absent for a bit as been busy working and then feeling like poo when I do get home....just seem so tired and sick.
I had my second scan last Tues and my date has changed to 12th feb (was 16th Feb). Baby measured 6cm's and heart was fluttering away...was quite emotional experience.
Getting a little bump but just looking chubby ...can only fit in one skirt and jeans at the moment! Have bought some maternity clothes but waiting as long as poss as feel silly wearing them just yet!
Have been sick as a dog so going to bed really early....I travel to work by train which isn't helping.....have been sicking up blood because my throat is getting raw!!! YUK!!
Glad most of the news has been good on here and sorry to hear that a few people have had bad news.
Will try to keep myself more up to date as it is a nightmare as this thread is so fast!!

teuch · 10/08/2005 14:02

so only one person knows what they are having right?...

anyone else got any 'feelings' or being bombarded with predictions?

Everyone says we are having a girl...apart from me...

ps - lovely lunch of gaviscon, bleugh!

pps - official edd is 28th Jan but I say 30th at least!

babylily · 10/08/2005 15:19

Well it's all over for me in the next couple of days. I had my scan on 1st Aug - nuchal measurement was high risk, gave me a 1 in 79 chance of Downs. My bloods were normal so had CVS on Thursday with a bit of hope that all would be okay.
Yesterday the first result came back as 100 percent positive for downs. We already knew we couldn't go through with it (I know someone with a DS child and I just couldn't do it).
So I am being induced tomorrow morning. It's all just a horror story to us at the moment. I'm 32 and never imagined this could happen to us. I'm grateful that I live in the area I do - if we'd lived in the next county I wouldn't have been given a nuchal scan and as my blood results were normal we'd have been none the wiser until the baby was born.
We are going to try again in a couple of months, and this time we'll be booked in for CVS automatically as we are now forever high risk. We've been told the baby will be tiny but otherwise perfect and will be able to hold him, they also give photos and a footprint, but not sure what we want to do. I have an idea of planting a tree in scotland (where all my family are, but i'm just in pieces so not really clear on anything. I haven't slept since monday night, I'm not making it more than ten minutes without crying and if it wasn't for our daughter who keeps telling me to stop crying I don't know what I'd do. I don't know what I'll be like after tomorrow when I actually see the wee thing.

sorry to go on, and sorry to have such a miserable story.
best wishes and luck to all, and enjoy the next months. xx

teuch · 10/08/2005 15:34

oh babylily...so sorry for what you and your family are going through at the moment. It sounds like you are all strong for one another though so that's something.

A friend had a similar experience and although it was unbearable at the time, she treasures the opportunities she was given with her baby too (photo, footprint, chance to hold him) and in time it helps to make it easier.

Thinking of you all tomorrow, take care xx

ixel · 10/08/2005 16:05

Oh Babylily, I will be thinking of you . I know that probably doesn't help much, and I dont have any wise words of advice, but big hugs to you and your family.

ixel · 10/08/2005 16:08

Tic tac.. I'm about 13+4 and had a lovely violent head in toilet episode this morning! With ds, the sickness only began at 14 weeks. But I'd still rather have it, so I feel my body is doing something... I get worried if it all goes quiet! The really hard thing is trying to do it quietly so as not to worry ds

Am convinced I'm having a boy, but I think thats just because I can't imagine myself with a girl! Especially if she's as much of a nightmare as I was growing up!
