Babylily I'm so sorry to hear this. Will be thinking of you and your family tomorrow. A good friend went through this situation recently, also with a second pregnancy. She and her husband also opted not to continue with the pregnancy. My friend has been very open about how she still grieves for the child that they lost and all the hopes and dreams that go with each pregnancy. She says that she is helped by the fact that she was sure her decision was the best one for her and her family. I hope that you and your dh will be able to feel this way too in the future. Like you mentioned, they waited a couple of months and tried again. They now have another beautiful baby girl. Lots of love and a huge hug to you and your dh.{{{{{{}}}}}}

Our thoughts are with you babylily and your dh and family xxxxxxxx

hotmama1 · 10/08/2005 18:39

Babylily - cyberhugs to you honey.

I have a friend that had high bloods and Downs was confirmed by an amnio - and she was only 30 - she also decided to terminate - and she went on to have 3 lovely healthy boys - so don't expect the worse in the future. Enjoy the cuddles from your dd - it will help.

I will be thinking of you - hope to hear happier news in future threads.

Love hotmama1. X

angedemarche · 10/08/2005 19:45

Babylily, just sending my love to you. XxX

SmallHouseDragon · 10/08/2005 19:57

Hi fellow pregnant ones and congratulations to you all!
I hope you don't mind me gate crashing! I have been away from Mumsnet for several months what with job and house moves etc and have finally found time to rejoin. I think I was last on (under a different name) back in March and we were ttc No. 2 (had been trying for a year) at that time. Well, about a month after we moved house, guess what, with the aid of Persona, I got pregnant!
12 week scan was fine and all seems well - was rather worried about the Downs risk, being 39! - must stop reading so many mags and books!!! Have only just told most of the family/friends which felt quite weird cos first time round I couldn't keep my mouth shut and everyone know straight away!
Am now 14 weeks gone and babe due on 9th Feb. Have been suffering from bad nausea and retching and am sorry to say have been horribly grumpy with dh and dd (3.5 years). Thankfully the sickness is beginning to recede so feel a bit more human again.
I look forward to chatting with you all and sharing some of the joys (?) of being 'with child!'

BarefootMama · 10/08/2005 20:05

Welcome smallhouse i fully understand having been wild and hormonal with my family for weeks!

Feeling a little more human these last few days too! ( I will be 38 when baby born so old too!)

Look forward to getting to know you!

Frizbe · 10/08/2005 20:52

Babylilly, sorry to hear what your going through, good luck for the future {{{Hugs}}}

Hi to small house

Ixel, I was kinda surprised by Nottm, but then if they were just counting city of Nottingham, then a lot of the areas aren't so good these days.....a lot of council estates, that have been left to rot.....there is a definate divide between the nicer outer areas and the inner city, shame really, as I'm from there and have lived in city centre in the past, but wouldn't do that now, as has definatley gotten worse.

TicTac · 10/08/2005 20:54

Hi SmallHouse and welcome to the Feb thread. I hope you stop with us and check in often. We are a chatty bunch and I think we are a pretty decent bunch of ladies

If you want to post your stats I am sure the fab Tabs will be putting an update on soon (we have had some bad news on this thread too!)
Feel free to look at the stats at the bottom of this thread.....

Hey good news....so far I have not had my head down the loo tonight (sorry if TMI)

JuA · 11/08/2005 07:49

Back to work today - I was off sick last week!
I think it will become common knowledge at work now - because my bump is not very easy to hide now!! Well at least it means I will get to sit down lots!!
Babylily - so sorry - lots of hugs and will be thinking about you today.

ixel · 11/08/2005 07:51

Hi Smallhousedragon. I had the same as you first time, and am too wildly hoping for an easier birth this time. What do you think your chances are? I cant see any reason why my body would be better at having a baby this time, but Im keeping my fingers crossed!

TicTac · 11/08/2005 09:14

Morning All, Glad you are feeling a bit better Jua. I am afraid that most people at my work have known for weeks. Mainly because I was so paranoid about loosing the baby (although I had no reason to) that I told my boss in case I needed to take last minute time off. It kind of just spun off from there really

OP posts:
teuch · 11/08/2005 10:17

Good Morning...hope everyone is well, although I can't stop thinking about Babylily

Also, I noticed that the old thread had bumped up a bit and there is a posting to say that Kassie's had bad news as well...I see she's still on the stats (thanks for those Tabs)

I am growing by the day, and enjoying feeling the rumbles of my baby when I have a quiet moment - have to stop jiggling and poking my belly to make baby move!

Tabs, how you getting on with the doppler now?

TicTac · 11/08/2005 10:30

I know it is inevitable that it wont work out for everyone but I get a really sad pang when I hear others bad news...I just wish that we could all have go through this and all have wonderful little beans at the end of it...

XX

OP posts:
spacecadet · 11/08/2005 10:34

babylilly-im so sorry, i lost my little girl at 16 weeks in march and in the autumn, dh and i are going to plant a tree, in her memory, thinking of you today. xx

Tabs · 11/08/2005 10:42

teuch - thanks for pointing out the news of Kassie - I hadn't spotted that. Very sad for her though.

I forgot to update your due date to 28th as well!

Think I had a little more luck with doppler the other day, though still not as clear as the first time I found it - I guess Chip's able to be more active and move away from it now though! Question for you - do you find it better if you press into your tummy a bit with the wand, rather than just brushing it over the top? I had been very gentle, thinking that his reflex would be to move away if I pushed, but I did press in a bit the other day when I thought it was clearer.

teuch · 11/08/2005 11:09

Tabs, I am quite heavy-handed with it ...DH always gets on to me for poking at baby!!

I usually start just about halfway between belly button and top of bikini line, pointing slightly downwards and go in slow, sweeping circles...never fails! Once or twice has been hiding right over at one side, but I just listen for the 'whoosh' of the placenta and baby is never far away...

If the heartbeat is not clear, persevere...you might actually be hearing the placenta which is a duller beat.

I love it! Has anyone else got one?

TicTac · 11/08/2005 11:37

The doppler sounds fab!! I still have not got one, I just keep thinking the mammouth fat layers will get in the way

OP posts:
teuch · 11/08/2005 12:01

not at all! I am a many-layered beast and it seems to work

I rented mine from baby-beats and although it doesn't have a read-out, you can tell all the different sounds anywway.

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on...

Tabs · 11/08/2005 12:19

TicTac - have sent you a CAT re weight. xx

Tabs · 11/08/2005 12:20

Teuch - thanks for detailing how you use doppler. Will give it a go at the weekend using your method and report back next week

3k · 11/08/2005 13:14

Babylilly - I am so sorry to hear your news. I hope this morning went as well as it could have done. Big Big hugs to you xxxxxxxxxx
