Tabs, had a similar funny turn today but at dh's boss's house!!! We were there for an outdoor drinks "do" and there was nowhere to sit down. I think the combination of being on my feet for 90 minutes and the heat did it for me. I was fine once I had a seat although felt a bit fragile for a while. I had a couple of turns like this in my first pregnancy - funnily enough most memorably in the supermarket - I think it is the body's way of telling you that you need to sit down and drink some water. Hope you're feeling OK now.

Thanks Yeahbut - that's re-assuring to know it's not just me who's had it. I'm ok now thanks - just left me with a mild headache for a while. Hope you're ok now too?

Welcome Amanda. You're not doing this on your own anymore - you've got all of us now . Sounds like you've been through a pretty tough time. Hope that all goes well with the amnio for you. Will you get the results there and then?

Hi Amanda. Good luck for the amnio and keep us posted.

Frizbe · 04/09/2005 20:26

Hi Amanda welcome to the thread! hope all is ok for you.

So am I the only one, or is everyone else suddenly being eaten alive by all manner of flying things? I've had sooo many bites in the last few days, I'm getting really sick of it....grrrr....

3k · 04/09/2005 22:42

Hi Ladies,

I've had a nightmare today, this afternoon I had a bleed and called the midwife who told me to go to A&E which I did. I had loads of blood tests done, blood pressure, urine and they listened to the babys heartbeat and did an internal examination. The baby seems ok but it turned out I have a water infection so have been put on anti-biotics. I also have to go back this week or next (depending when I get the scan date) and have a scan to see if they can see where it is coming from. It was a brown bleed so old blood but terrified me to bits. I have spent the whole afternoon in A&E and I'm still sore and uncomfortable. As I have been having those pains low down I have to have the scan and see the doctors in antenatal too instead of midwife. What a worry!! I'm constantly checking for blood now and have taken a few paracetamol and just off to bed. I'm going to work tomorrow and will see how I go, fingers crossed that is the end of it as the bleeding has eased now so really not sure what is going on.
Hope you all had good weekends, not had time to catch up on the news yet but will do that tomorrow at work!!

3k

flamesparrow · 05/09/2005 09:30

Argh! Huge huge huge hugs 3k!

Hi Amanda - you seem to have a lot going on

I've given in to my milk cravings over the weekend... turns out that it still doesn't like me! My head is thumping, I've been sick, and I feel generally bleurgh.

Why is it that you always crave what you can't have?? I'm on milk and sushi (which I'm guessing is a no-no). I don't even like sushi all that much, so god knows what that's all about

3k · 05/09/2005 10:05

Thanks flamesparrow xxxx

I have had a call from hospital this morning and they want me to go for a scan at 12.20pm. got to start drinking all my water in a bit. I'm scared, the bleeding has slowed and almost stopped but I'm still getting pain. I think it might be to do with water infection.

Also both boobs are now leeking! Is anyone else getting this yet?

Tabs · 05/09/2005 10:31

Frizbe - no probs here with being bitten - perhaps you should change your perfume .

3K - what a lot of horrible stress for you. At least you don't have long to wait for the scan, which is good news. Try and get yourself some cranberry juice whilst you're out too - that is supposed to be really good for water infections. Hopefully you'll be back on here this afternoon telling us all about how lovely it was to see baby again, and how the bleeding was caused by something really minor. Will certainly be keeping my fingers crossed for this outcome.

No leaky boobs here yet thankfully. That'll be fun if you have to use breast pads for the next twentysomething weeks too!

Hello ladies.....first I must say sorry for letting my mumsnetting slip.....I have been so busy and feeling sick, etc that I haven't been on very much. But I am back again for some advice.

I have had my blood test results back and they are showing high risk so I am going to hospital tomorrow to discuss my risks/amniocentesis and wondered if any of you had some advice to share with me?

Feel really mad that this is happening as after 2 scans I was feeling really positive about this pregnancy ( had a missed m/c in March this year ). I feel optimistic that things are all ok and can't believe another bad thing could happen to me.

I wish I hadn't had the blood test in the first place!!

Can anyone offer me any advice?

Tabs · 05/09/2005 12:44

Hi RachelRog - nice to have you back.
Well, I have to say that that's exactly the reason why I did refuse the test in the first place - the benefit of hindsight eh?!
I guess the first question that you need to ask yourself is would you terminate if baby had downs? If the answer is no, then there seems little point in taking things any further. Just rest assured in the knowledge that it's much more likely that baby doesn't have downs than does (1:250 is considered high risk, but that still sounds like fairly good odds to me!).
If you would terminate, then I guess it's a harder decision to make, and might be worth weighing up the risks of m/c caused by amnio versus the risk you have been given of downs.
Risk of m/c is about 1:100 - is that worse or better odds than those of having baby with downs?

Hope this helps a bit!

flamesparrow · 05/09/2005 14:22

That's the kind of advice I was going to give Tabs.

Leaking boobies... not leaking as such, but going gunky... I remember that from about 30 weeks with DD, like I'm leaking the teeniest amount, so that when I take my bra off I look slightly clogged up (sorry if TMI )

teuch · 05/09/2005 15:28

hi all, ditto flame on the 'clogged nips'!!

When is everyone else going to start shopping?

I am now 19wks and KNACKERED!!!

Tabs · 05/09/2005 15:58

Knackered teuch - are you not blooming?

Reckon I will start shopping after next scan, which coincides nicely with DH and I having a week off work at the end of this month.

Also considering going to baby show at Olympia next month, so tempted to save most of it for then. Anyone else going to this?

Frizbe · 05/09/2005 19:46

Hi girls, I'm still getting bitten, this is sooo unfair!

Rachelrog, hope all goes ok with the bloods etc discussion....tough one, we've still to have our bloods done next week for us.....I guess you'll have the amenio thingy?

3k, hope the scan went ok? and your feeling a bit better about things, infections are not nice....

No leaky boobs here, but then I'm nearly month behind some of you guys!

I'm worrying... Anyone heard from 3K since her scan?

Not a lot of shopping for me to do - still have piles of clothes from last time round (all in a big box I was meant to ebay ),got the cot, travel system etc (as much as I'd like a different one, I can't really justify it), all I really need to get is a sling, and I'm saving for my nappies...

Oooh, a friend says I can use her birth pool too

chloe55 · 06/09/2005 09:32

Morning everyone,

Welcome Amanda

Just got back from Centre Parcs yesterday and had a fantastic time, made even more special by the fact that my little one was kicking about like mad! Jeez, if he/she is like this at 17 weeks I am gonna be in some serious pain at 30+!!

I hope you are feeling much better now 3K, sounds like you had quite an ordeal.

I haven't started with the leaky boobs yet but they were soooo painful last week so thought I might have done over the weekend, I can quite happily wait until that starts happening though

3k · 06/09/2005 11:47

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in replying. I'm off sick today so not on pc as much.

Had a scan yesterday and baby is fine, kicking around and sucking thumb and is at a good size for 19 weeks. I am also expecting a boy!!! I thought we would ask whilst we were there and a little willy was obvious!!!!

I have been told to take the antibiotics for a week, they are quite strong and I think that is why I am getting pain too as this morning turning over in bed was agony with full bladder but once I had been to the loo I was better. Just going to relax today. Still having brown spotting but it is a lot lighter than Sunday, they could find no reason for bleed. I am also getting a clear discharge with it. I'm sure it will settle though.

I also have to see doctor in antenatal at hospital in 2 weeks who will assess the pain and keep a check on me. Then I have a scan 2 weeks on Friday which is my normal one and midwife on the Monday after so that is going to be a busy week. They have took a swab from down below and I'm awaiting urine results but it had too many white cells which showed the infection.

Tabs- I'm going to babyshow at Olympia on the Sunday, if you are around perhaps we can have a meet up???????

chloe55 · 06/09/2005 11:50

Heeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! Congrats 3K! I'm still in 2 minds as to whether I want to know what sex the baby is or not (scan in 3 weeks) I guess it makes choosing names easier . Really pleased you are feeling better.

flamesparrow · 06/09/2005 11:53

Oh thank god for that!

I've been trying to CAT you, and then I left a message on chat for you

I wasn't too worried until you mentioned leaky breasts, and I was concerned that it was a surge of hormones that might not be good.

Yay for little wriggling healthy man!

I can get off here now and stop looking for you
