I can fit into my jeans in the AM but by about now (and I am currently wearing said jeans) I am slowly undong the 2 buttons. By tea time the zip will be down, belly hanging out and I will be grumbling on the couch that I should not wear jeans anymore

Off to meet Jua now...that's if she feels ok, I think she has been a bit sick.
Catch you all later...xx

Hi everyone, completely exhausted after this weekend as dd2 has been running a horrendous temperature and is vvvvvv grumpy. According to doc this am it is "just" a virus and she'll get over it. Easy for the person not having to administer calpol and cuddles at 2am to say!!!

Wondered if I felt flutterings over the past couple of days but have decided it is probably wind! Apparently my placenta is on the front wall of my uterus this time round so will mask the feeling of movement for a while.

Am also pondering names with dh. Our boy's name is sorted (Alexander) and has been since 1999!!! DH and I both really like Tess for a girl but wonder if we should come up with something more formal for her birth-certificate so that when she is prime minister (after dd1 and dd2 have had a go) she'll have a really grown-up name to choose from. What do you think? Is Tess OK on its own? Not mad keen on Tessa or Theresa which seem to be the only two names you can shorten to Tess. Suggestions / comments welcome!

Kando - still haven't heard from you so assuming you are still offline and haven't received my email. Off on hols on Friday 19th and back Saturday 3rd.

chloe55 · 15/08/2005 15:05

I think Tess on it's own sounds absolutely fine - can't think of any other names it's short for.

Stupid question but on some threads I have seen the word 'bump' on a post - what does that mean?

Tabs · 15/08/2005 15:31

Can't think of any other longer versions of Tess at the mo, but I like a challenge so won't give up just yet!!

Chloe - bump is used to bring a thread back into the active conversations list if someone would still like more responses to it.

chloe55 · 15/08/2005 15:44

Thanks Tabs - was getting confused (easily done), thought it was some sort of affectionate baby terminology!

teuch · 15/08/2005 16:08

hullo all, just a quick one before I dodge off from work!

Glad to hear everyone is feeling better and expanding too! As for buying the next size up...don't do it!!! I started and all those lovely things only fit for a week or so...

I have relented and gone for elastic-waist skirts and matty jeans!

Feeling lots of movement now...was at a pipe band thing on sat (v noisy) and baby was doing a fine jig!!

flamesparrow · 15/08/2005 17:19

I have a "bumpette" apparantly (showed another site my "bump" pics from the weekend).

It turns out it must be bump rather than just overeating cos I have actually lost weight... I still weigh more that I should, but it it less more if you see what I mean

Very excited about tomorrow - friend just sent me her scan pics... her son was born 2 weeks before DD, and now she is pregnant 2 weeks ahead of me again!!!

TicTac · 15/08/2005 17:35

Hi All,

I wondered if I felt my first movements today at about 14:45...sort of felt like 3 taps on the lower left side of my belly....keep prodding to see if it happens again but so far no luck...maybe it was a bit of wind shifting

As for TESS.. I think it is fine on it's own, I wouldn't start bulking it out to something you are not all that keen on just to end up with a Tess...go for it!

OP posts:
flamesparrow · 15/08/2005 17:37

Tess is lovely - please don't try to longerify it!

We're trying not to do any names discussion until we have a baby in our arms - that way we (by we I mean I ) feel that it will get the name meant for it....

TicTac · 15/08/2005 17:39

Aww flame that is beautiful..I couldn't trust myself to not come out with something bizzare though!
We would end up with a Spudulike Manhattan Swords

I'd love something weird (not quite that weird maybe), but Boy less keen

spacecadet · 15/08/2005 18:48

hi all, well after posting my great news on friday, i was struck down on friday night with severe gastroenteritis, i have never felt so ill in all my life, today is the first day ive been out ofbed, ive had a temp of 39.8, for 2 days, its finally settled at 38.4, everything is still going through me, but not so much now, was terrified, am still terrified it will cause a miscarriage, now today ds2 and dd2 have got it aswell, i think ive lost half a stone.

spacecadet · 15/08/2005 18:51

forgot to ask, does anyone know if a high temp in preg is dangerous, im sure iots not good, gp said if i didnt stop going to the loo and burning up etc, he would pack me off to hospital but am a little better today but very weak and dizzy.

Tabs · 15/08/2005 19:11

Hi Space. Think you're right that high temp isn't good, as that's why we have to avoid saunas and super hot baths and stuff, but not sure how high your temp has to get for it to be bad. I'm sure that loads of women must get ill whilst pg, as our immune systems are weaker, so I'd try not to worry unduly. It certainly won't be as risky at it would have been in first few weeks.

spacecadet · 15/08/2005 19:36

tabs-he did say, that it was better that i was past the first 12 weeks, im such a worrier, i will prob beg for a scan when im fully recovered.

Frizbe · 15/08/2005 20:58

Oh SC you poor thing, and you can only take bloomin paracetamol n all, {{{Hugs}}}

Tabs, I have my scan tomorrow! fingers x'd all is ok....will obviously let you all know!

Enjoying you all nattering about names, we haven't a clue for boys.....dh used up my favourite as ss's middle name, so ? we can't agree on any others....
for girls I quite like Romily and Rhiannon (sp) dh likes Poppy and Olivia.....who knows eh!

TicTac · 15/08/2005 21:50

Poor space! I think your GP would pack you off to hospital to ensure you got some fluids through a drip. Fluids are more then likely a bigger concern then the temp. If you are not even keeping down water so well I would go back to the GP...not worth the risk with your little beanie! Food is not such a big issue as beanie will feed from you for a while but it is not sustainable

OP posts:
flamesparrow · 15/08/2005 22:09

Soace - eat ice lollies... it gets the fluids in you gently, and eases the temp

xxx

Tabs · 15/08/2005 22:19

..and lollies taste yummy .

Good luck for scan tomorrow Frizbe.

flamesparrow · 16/08/2005 08:29

I won the sleeping beauty dress

Its sad how excited I am about that....

Scan at 10am!!!

chloe55 · 16/08/2005 08:42

Good luck to all who are having their scans today and post piccies if you can please!

Space, sorry to hear you are feeling rough, it must be twice as bad coz you are worrying on top of feeling like poo but our bodies are very strong things and the little one is no doubt staying protected.

TicTac - I was saying to my DH this morning that I thought I felt something. Like you say, could have been wind but a few times now I have felt a couple of little taps on lower left part of abdomen. Feel silly getting excited coz probably just a trump brewing!

TicTac · 16/08/2005 09:15

Good luck flame!!

Chloe - LOL!!!! I am convinced I felt the baby yesterday since my wind tends to feel quite different. I have been prodding my tummy ever since trying to get Tic Tac to respond....she/ he is clearly not in the mood to play!

Not feeling 100% today

OP posts:
chloe55 · 16/08/2005 09:22

Why not TicTac? I felt pretty pants yesterday. Kept having dizzy spells. Hadn't felt sick for a couple of weeks but did yesterday. Has anyone else been experiencing the horrible taste in their mouth during pregnancy? I did for weeks, then in went away and has come back 10 fold this week. I constantly feel like I have bad breath and have to mouthwash about 10 times a day! Has anyone got any cures?

TicTac · 16/08/2005 09:27

Hi Chloe...I don't know I kind of feel sick, a bit crampy and very snuffly!

I had a crap taste in my mouth for the first few weeks but it has never come back. You have given up smoking haven't you....that might have more to do with it then the pregnancy! I would clean your tongue with the bristles of your tooth brush every morning for a few days, should make quite the difference. Just use some of the toothpaste still in your mouth after cleaning your teeth and gently stroke from the back to the front. You don't need to press hard or anything.

OP posts:
chloe55 · 16/08/2005 09:31

Yeah, has been 8 weeks now, I used to brush my tongue but because anything makes me gag at the moment I am now struggling to do this when I need to most!

Let's hope your not coming down with anything. Are you working? I have found it really quite difficult coming to work coz just so tired all the time and I think it runs me down sometimes. You should be able to split maternity leave! I could have done with a few weeks off, particularly in the early weeks.
