I had a look at some of the 19 week ladies because thats about how far gone I will be when I have my 3D/ 4D scan....one woman looked like she was full term and beyond!!

Funny though!

Hi all

JuA don't worry I'm sure (as said below) that you'll get into a routine fairly quickly, don't forget there's always people from Homestart, who can come out and give a free hand a couple of times a week, just give them a ring for details.

Tictac don't diss your mums offer just yet, you may well soon be dying for a weekend to yourselves!! some sleep, the chance to go out somewhere without the kids!!

Hi to Chloe as well and obviously everyone else,

Barefootmama, n SC, hope the sickness gets better very soon for you/in sc's case stays under control {{Hugs}}

Hotmama, see you next week then!

Morgan · 04/08/2005 19:58

Hi to everyone. I haven't posted for a while - too tired! Now 11 weeks had an abortive nuchal scan on Monday as baby was too small by 3 mm ! but all looked fine so i will go back in a couple of weeks as my consultant is on hols now. This happened to me with ds 1 so luckily wasn't too much of a disappointment. We did get some pictures though. Waiting for tiredness to abate - feel good in the am but not so good in the pm and have to make sure i wear ds1 out before bedtime.

BTW i hated all the people who said things like "oh i hope you like sleepless nights" when i was pg with ds 1 and try never to say such things now and the "just wait until they (talk walk etc)" - i hate that too!

TicTac · 04/08/2005 20:01

Hi Frizbe,

I get what your saying but believe me I couldn't leave a child with my mum! Now Dad, sister, friends we have....oh yes...they will be taken advantage of I am sure

Morning Ladies....how are you all feeling today?

OP posts:
hotmama1 · 05/08/2005 09:13

Morning girls - just a quick post as I found out yesterday the sex of my bean. I was convinced I was having a boy as I actually was sick this time and I thought I was late conceiving - anyway I was wrong - I'm having another dd! Strange because I'm both happy and disappointed IYKWIM - but am very excited and happy!

If I only had one, always wanted a girl and now I have my dd it seems strange to be having another one. At least I don't have to buy any clothes as dd is 10 months (today) and as there will only be not quite 16 months between them they (hopefully) will play together. I'm already looking forward to the teenage sqabbles of knicked clothes etc.

DP is an only child so will I try for a third - and for a boy? I'll be over 40 - I'll think about this in a few years.

For the time being I will enjoy the thought of my dd2 - better stock up on glittery nailpolish etc.

Got an antenatal appt on the 17th - being an older mum - it's a bit scantastic.

Hope everyone is O.K - catch up soon.

TicTac · 05/08/2005 10:32

Hi Hotmama...thanks for sharing your bean gender with us

Sorry you are in 2 minds about a another DD, I guess because you really believed it was going to be a DS it will take you some time to get over that....but you will and you will see ALL the benefits of having 2 same sex babies.

If I think to the rows my sister and I had...you are in for a great time LOL...

Tabs · 05/08/2005 10:50

Morning all. Well I had a fab night out on a MN meet up last night, so I'm sure Frizbe and Hotmama1 will enjoy theirs next week.

Hotmama1 - lol at stocking up on glittery nailpolish already! Have you started thinking of names now then? Go on, share!

TicTac - I'd suggest that you do allow your dad's partner to babysit occasionally, but when you drop him/her off be sure to just leave a bag full of saucepan lids to play with whilst there!

Morgan - sounds like a great way to get an extra scan to me .

TicTac · 05/08/2005 11:04

I might just do that Tabs...but then despite she already having 3 kids with her ex husband she wanted to have a child with my dad....don't ask it is a really long story but anyway, she fell pregnant and lost it at 8 weeks a year ago. As soon as I said I was pregnant she refers to me as being "sick", is hugely jeleous and has not spoken to me since the 4th June...we used to talk all the time.....complicated little life isn't it!!

OP posts:
teuch · 05/08/2005 11:14

aw hotmama...thanks for sharing your pink & glittery news! I was just discussing last night with friends the 'general consensus' that people seem to like to have at least one of each sex, but we were all in agreement that if you only had 2 kids then it was great if they were the same sex...everyone's different though!

BTW, I have 2 neices, one whom couldn't be parted from pink, glittery things if her life depended on it and one whose favourite colour is green and won't wear girly things...you see them shaking their heads behind each other's backs at their different antics!

BarefootMama · 05/08/2005 11:45

lovely hotmama! I agree one of each would be nice ( I have three of one and one of another!) but a sister for my daughter would be my dream! Women always want a sister ....even if they fight when teenagers! fantastic! How old are you now ( nosey!) I am 37!

TicTac · 05/08/2005 11:57

Barefoot, I am 1 of 3 girls and I longed for a brother!!! There is a 7.5 year gap between me and the 1st sister (I am the baby) so we never really got that sister feeling until we where adults...

chloe55 · 05/08/2005 12:26

Hi everyone,

I am really not bothered which sex I have but my DH is reluctant to find out prebirth due to the fact he desparately wants a boy he can take on the footie and do 'boy' things with. He says he doesn't mind if he has a girl but he doesn't think he'll have that same bond. I want to know at my next scan but don't want to find out if DH is not backing the idea! I think he worries that he won't be able to protect her from the big bad world (but he seems to think a lad can look after himself!)

hotmama1 · 05/08/2005 13:18

Thanks for your congrats girls - makes it all more real - I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and have started wearing maternity skirts - oops I fear this doesn't bear well for the 3rd trimester when I may well be as big as a house!

Am all happy now about 2 girls - just having a hormonal anxiety rush - me thinks?

Barefootmama - I'm 38 and will be 39 in March - but if I have any more will def be early 40's - I think a 16 month age gap is going to be hard work - but 3 under 3 - makes me start twitching - but don't want to be old and have preschoolers in my 50's

Chloe55 - finding out is a personal thing - for me it was the reward after tests etc. My dp is besotted with dd and he plays footie etc. If your dh really veers one way then at least finding out will give him time to get used to it - one way or another IYSWIM - but to be honest will probably be all gaga when dd/ds is born - so don't worry.

chloe55 · 05/08/2005 13:30

I know , you're right hotmama I keep telling him that if we have a girl she would probably like to go on the football with him too. Like you say, I reckon when Nemo (sound nicer than it) is born then he will be too overwhelmed to think about it.

3 children under 3 sounds a bit scary - I'm trying to get used to the thought of coping one! I'm sure when Nemo's born, after a few months, I might think differently.

And sorry, very rude of me on last post - I forgot to say congrats too!

TicTac · 05/08/2005 13:38

OK so DH has been to Boots during his lunch break and saw a "really gorgeous outfit" he sent me a picture and......SHORTS AND TSHIRT!!! I pointed out that this is a Feb baby and it'll be freezing, he then informed me "yes but it says up to 9 pounds so I am sure it will last until the summer!"

Can someone PLEASE come and help me......

Hee hee, I'm meant to be working and your post has just made me wet myself! I sometimes wonder how a man's mind works, bless them.

TicTac · 05/08/2005 14:04

I think he expects it to come out 2 pound and be about 10 pound by it's birthday... I wish!!!

teuch · 05/08/2005 15:15

what are they like tic-tac?!

I just wanted to say...I grew a bump last night!! No seriously, it just appeared...

It isn't obvious, just looks like my own tum but is really hard instead of flabby, even DH had to admit it really was a baby bump

see...if you wish hard enough... (for those who have seen my fatty-bump-bump thread!

Y'all have a good weekend now x

Chuffed · 05/08/2005 15:52

{popping in from Due Jan}
Chloe One of my dh's friends wanted a girl as he said they were more likely to look after you in old age
teuch congrats on the bump - bubs must have found a new position.
hotmama congrats feel a bit like you in this one is totally different for me than last time and assuming its a boy but not going to find out unless something obvious happens in 20wk scan so may have a surprise at the birth.
I've been reading all the stuff about MIL's yesterday and just wanted to add I was terrified of this with my MIL and mother as both came to stay for 5wks each so we had one or the other for 10wks when dd was born. I made a big point while pregnant about 'reading books' telling them the philosophies I wanted to go with and asking for their support. It seemed to work really well.
{bumping back to Jan}

TicTac · 05/08/2005 17:01

Teuch...congrats on the bump! I was fat before we started and I am fat now...ho hum

God! I've only just seen the new thread and there's 74 postings!!
Hello all anyway. Everything is fine here. A couple of quick questions, which someone will be able to answer for me as I'm too lazy to do any more research...!
1.Things I've read say it's only worth using a doppler from 20 wks. Is this not true then, as quite a few of you have mentioned them? Is it worth getting one?
2.Has anyone found a perfect pushchair with toddler seat, with swivel wheels and small enough for London buses?
3. Do you know anywhere that stocks steri bottles in the newborn size? All my Mothercares only do the 3 months plus, and ebay isn't worth it with the postage. This may sound like I'm giving up on the idea of breastfeeding before I've started, but it was a disaster with ds, and I'd rather be prepared!

I'm glad these are my only worries at the moment, other than my ever expanding frame

BarefootMama · 05/08/2005 21:12

Ixel -I bought a doppler from ebay and it picked up heartbeat at 9 + 2. I paid about 80 pounds inc postage but still use it each day ( i am 13+4) I HIGHLY recommend it if you are a stress head like me but it is a bit of an outlay......

I love mine and wish i had bought it with my other pg's!

I will try to find a link if you are interested for the bloke i bought from - he was fab!
