seashells I'm really interested in the biodegradable nappies you mentioned. Have you tried them before? They sound like a good compromise if I don't manage reusables (and in any event my friend suggested its easiest to start with disposables to begin with)

loving all the tips for baby clothes places! I am going try and be good though and make myself a little list of what I need to get, so I don't splurge on baby clothes before buying other things I need.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 29/05/2010 20:00

Tired feet: spirit of nature are good for organic clothes etc, biodegradable nappy sacs and biodegradable nappies (moltex). I've used them a couple if times and they were good, friend has used them 100% and likes them.

Or we use sainsburys Eco nappies alot ( not perfect, but cheaper and easy to get!) or some sainsburys sell natures baby, which is Swedish corn starch based nappies, again are good, and new design now which I've not tried yet.

I failed using reusables with ds as with pnd if was one more thing!! I have a clear concience with these but each to their own- pampers are great when they are on sale

Afternoon everyone, DH and I have just got back from our gender scan!!!
I?m so thrilled to announce that we have a healthy son on the way. We are both walking round with huge grins this afternoon, it?s amazing how much more real it is now. We wasted no time at all in hitting the shops and have bought some gorgeous things for him. I?m tearing up again here, it?s so exciting!!!
We have our name too and are both 100% happy with it. Our son will be called Henry Arthur (both family names) but it will be shortened to ?Harry?.

Hope you are all enjoying your Bank Hol weekend, I certainly am!
Love Vik & Harry x x

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 30/05/2010 16:52

Hello vikks! I thought I'd killed my own antenatal thread I've done some impressive thread kills in the past but that would have been impressive!

Many congratulations on your little boy lovely names too. What have you bought him today? I know what you mean- it becomes so real when you canstart imagining a little boy

ILoveGregoryHouse · 30/05/2010 17:00

Congratulations Vikks. Great names. What did you buy?

It's lovely being able to call them by their name isn't it? It makes it so real for the boys to talk about Genevieve, bless 'em.

Hermya321 · 30/05/2010 17:05

Congratulations Vikks great news.

seashells I think we're a very quiet thread on the weekends for some reason.

Congrats Vikks, lovely names.

I am ill again today

nymphadora · 30/05/2010 17:51

Am on my phone so can't answer everything! I used natures boy/girl with dd2 9 years ago and had no probs until everyone stopped stocking them!

On our way back not the best weekend away we've had! Sat nav went loopy and kept trying to send us north again on our way down. Got to b&b and dh bumped my car exactly where it had a dint so it was now rubbing on the wheel( suspect him of original too) but we managed to bend it away again.

B&b a nightmare. Looked nice when we arrived but they were v disorganized and went away & made a call b4 telling us our room. Which was down the road at someones house went to said house which will be v nice when it's finished bloke at the house said room wasn't ready but we could leave our stuff & checked what time we'd be back. We got back at 11:30 to be told room not ready no bedding yet. Room was folded out bed setee & that was it. Bloke was busy putting door on bathroom(which turned out to be for us to use!) bed finally ready by 12:30 (imagine what state I was in by then). Bathroom door didn't close properly & bath/shower not finished enough to use. This am we couldn't shower or anything but got ready & decided to come home tonight instead of staying there. Went for breakfast( had told them the time) after 30 mins no one had served us so we grabbed waitress & told boss all the problems and said we were leaving. He didn't ask for money but think he realised there was no point with me looking so rough & dh fuming( he doesn't get cross easily)

Hay today was sunny spend 15 mins wandering to 30-1hr in cafes/ benches etc but I've coped. Have eaten tons.saw justinemumsnet this am & got the MN baby book, have 6-7 carriers of books between us but plenty were for dds.

It's helped being away as I'm more distracted from missing them but have been in a flap when I have no signal in case they needed me.

floozietoozie · 30/05/2010 17:52

Just home fr work. That's why I'm quiet! Congrat Vikks. There were three generations of Harry in my family: grandad, uncle, cousin. Two were Henrys.

Tyson hope you get better soon.

floozietoozie · 30/05/2010 17:55

Xposts nymph. What a dreadful experience! Just the opposite of the relaxing time you needed. Glad it was a bit better today though. I was looking at
hay pics today and saw the rain yesterday - hope you avoided that.

Vikks · 30/05/2010 18:29

Thanks everyone!
I?ve been shopping mad today, lots of clothes and toys.

From JoJo Maman BeBe: a huge navy elephant (couldn?t resist), stripey t-shirts (3) and navy dungarees. Baby Gap: Jeans (so cute), more tops (3), tracksuit bottoms (2), socks, denim dungarees and a chunky cardi. Online: A range of Baby Einstein toys and rattles with lights and music, plus a Baby Grooming Set. I think I need my credit cards taken off me!!

We?ve also picked out a beautiful ?sleigh style? cotbed in dark wood with drawers underneath and a pushchair we like from Mamas and Papas. More shopping tomorrow too?..I?ll keep you posted.

Get well soon Tyson x

Nymph Sorry you?ve had such a crappy time, hope things are looking up now.

Hermya321 · 30/05/2010 19:57

Nymph Gosh thats so crap, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you guys. Where did you go? I can recomend a really really nice place in the Bath area, they were lovely to me and DH when we went.

OP posts:
Vikks · 30/05/2010 21:00

Hermya Bath is my city! I'd love to know where you went, nosey aren't I?

Hermya321 · 30/05/2010 21:36

Oh Lord Vikks I don't remember the name but it was opposite the carphone warehouse about a ten minute walk from the bus station. It was a little terraced bed and breakfast which was run by a single woman. I think she was in the vegetarian guide to Bath as well. It was really lovely and we felt so welcome.

I'm quite quite jealous of you living in such a lovely city though. If me and DH were to go anywhere we'd consider Bath as a possibility.

We went to the Cathedral, the Jane Austen centre, the Royal Crescent and Dryham House. It was such a fab holiday.

Vikks · 30/05/2010 22:10

Hermya I?m from South Yorkshire originally, DH and I moved down here for what we thought would be short term, but totally fell in love with the city and decided early on that we were staying. That was 11 years ago and it?s definitely home now. Plus there are some great schools which we?ll soon have to start thinking about!
Whereabouts are you?

nymphadora · 31/05/2010 07:30

Bath is lovely. Dh is from there & we go at least once a year. Love Toppings (?) book shop for signed books & the italian pizza/ice cream place >
Want yo go to the spa but we either go when we are skint or can't get in! Quite often go in November & it's good for Xmas shopping.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 31/05/2010 07:43

I love bath too! Lived in Bristol for years so visited lots, and before then used to watch bath rugby play with my family. There are so many gorgeous shops and cares (bars too).
I finally got to the spa 2 weeks ago- good, but a shame iwas pg as the stam rooms smelt gorgeous!!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 31/05/2010 10:04

I just bought a mini boden dress for £5.79 on ebay. Woohoo. It's got a white top, blue flowery skirt and worn once. Am pleased with myself.

Hermya321 · 31/05/2010 10:25

Vikks I'm in Cumbria, but before this I was in North Yorkshire. I never went to the Spa when I was in Bath, I was a bit gutted but the week before I went my car broke and so did my bank balance. Ah well these things happen.

I've bought my first cloth nappies this weekend as well, they're called fuzzi bunz and have little patterns all over them (so so cute). We're going to see a nappy advisor as well, so we can have a look at all the different types.

OP posts:
nymphadora · 31/05/2010 11:09

Hermya are you seeing the nappy advisor near me?

shieldbug · 31/05/2010 11:37

vikks I used to live in a village a couple of miles from Bath. I loved it, especially as the wildlife there was great. Used to be able to see glowworms! (Insects are my favourite things). Used to love having friends and family to stay as there was so much to be able to take them to see. Does Nightingales still exist (the best restaurant in the area, in another wee village (can't quite remember the name) on the Bradford side of Bath)? If it does, and you haven't been there, I fully recommend it.

I'm still feeling like I've got this stomach upset and have had stabbing pains in my bump this morning. Why do things always happen on a bank holiday? My scan is tomorrow so will not panic just yet as at least sproglet will be thoroughly checked then.

nymphadora · 31/05/2010 11:37

Baby seems to have discovered my bladder. 3 times I went in a hour yesterday cos of the prodding. They've started again this am. Must be like a new toy!!!

BionicEar · 31/05/2010 14:00

Hello!

DH got to feel Bump kick yesterday for 1st time so he was but DD was cross couldn't feel as her hand was too cold and Bump refused to move then!

Brought some mat jeans in New Look earlier as running out of trousers that fit now! Bump is definitely growing.

Got scan in couple of weeks - still debating whether to attempt to find out sex of baby or not.

We used mixture of washable and eco nappies with DD when she was in them. We had Motherease nappies - they were really good. Used eco when out and about all day or if away.

Vikks · 31/05/2010 14:26

SeaShells Re. Shopping and bars it?s too good sometimes! Glad you liked the Spa, I?m just around the corner from there!

Hermya Cumbria is gorgeous too; I use to holiday there a lot when I was younger. We are planning on taking Harry there on his first holiday at Easter with all the family. I'm thinking of a holiday cottage large enough for both sets of Grandparents so they can spend some quality time with him.

Shield Good luck with the scan and hope you?re feeling better soon.
I?m not sure about Nightingales, I?ve not bumped into it on my travels, if I do I?ll think of you. Bradford on Avon is so lovely, that?s where DH and I got married.

Nymph You should try the Christmas Market if you come over for Christmas shopping, great fun with a mulled wine!
So funny that you should say that about your bladder, Harry is doing the same. All last night and this morning he?s been prodding away like it?s a new game. I?m constantly going to the loo!

Bionic Great news about the kick, hope DD get her chance too!

nymphadora · 31/05/2010 14:35

Dh hasn't felt anything yet. I keep shoeing him but then baby stops. Been moving nearly all day today (with short breaks). Dd2 was like this & still is !
