Also there are some lovely bright unisex baby clothes on the Mini Mode website:

these for example

tiredfeet · 28/05/2010 19:56

ooh yes I love those NinthWave thank you! I was getting a bit frustrated with all the beige. I can see little babies look sweet in white but its nice to have the choice. Might have to get my wallet out and treat myself to those little baby grows

Vest top underneath is a good idea, will borrow that for some of my casual tops. The only problem is that where I work gets ridiculously hot in the summer, I'm really worried about how I'll cope so I need something that will keep me cool (i.e. as thin as possible) but that isn't at all indecent. I have been hunting for weeks now.

moonstorm · 28/05/2010 20:02

Tyson breech doesn?t matter yet, but after having a cs due to breech presentation, I am starting to think about my posture etc. now. They can turn as late as 37 weeks (or later), though.

Thanks, Ella. My notes say ?anterior placenta ? not low?, so I take that as a good sign. I was panicking about the risk of complications, but I think they are when the placenta grows over the old scar ? surely if this was the case it would say in my notes? Not low must mean higher than the scar??

Floozie - my ds was born at 35 weeks, so not massively prem in the scheme of things, but early enough for the first 24 hours to be very scary and a week in SCBU. I get extra consultant appointments, but no extra scans.

If you ar looking at reusables, I can recommend Fuzzibunz. Dry quickly and easy to put on like a disposable.

Elsa, do complain x

Silver and Patsy congratulations on the scan!!

tiredfeet · 28/05/2010 20:08

exciting times, just brought my first ever things for the baby, thank you NinthWave for temporarily distracting me from my cold!

NinthWave · 28/05/2010 21:15

Yay tiredfeet! I've gone a bit mad on ebay since finding out we're having another boy - if you're not averse to second-hand/digging around for a bargain, there's some fab unisex stuff to be found there. We didn't find out last time, and like you I found all the beige rather uninspiring - Mothercare do some good bright sleepsuits etc too.

My DS1 came home in a zebra print sleepsuit

Tyson86 · 28/05/2010 21:16

Thanks moonstorm

Ive just got back from Morrisons with my first pack of newborn nappies

tiredfeet · 28/05/2010 21:30

Zebra print sounds cool . I will try e-bay too but I wanted this baby to have some new bits too after all those months where it seemed like I would never see a bfp (not that the baby can tell a difference, but I remember looking at baby clothes and longing to be able to buy them) I suspect we will be given some stuff as gifts too as this is a first grandchild for DH's parents. My mum has still got some stuff from when I was a baby, so I might get some very retro outfits for it too. But its good to have started off with something nice and cheery

very impressed you've bought some nappies tyson !

sam12 · 28/05/2010 21:36

Thanks for thst tip abfab- have filled in the questions

Nymph- yes I have a problem with food but the opposite- I just cannot stop eating and everything I see/smell I just want to eat.

Am off to look at those clothes now ninthwave- maybe I will be brave enough to make my first purchase

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 28/05/2010 22:14

Hi everyone! I've still not bought anything- really need to at least write a list! Really not sure nappies etc this time, as had good intentions that never happened, and don't want to set myself up for a fall again I like the natures baby biodegradable ones- I get a clearer concience but don't kid myself I'll cope a 2 yr old and new born's nappies!

I seem to have a cold or hayfever- not impressed. Lots of movement too, we can now see big kicks when I lie down, dh loves it

Been talking about names tonight, it's becoming 'real' to us now

Xavielli · 28/05/2010 22:38

Hey guys,

I've been really crampy today, low down/bottom of my back period type pains. I'm not overly worried by them as they haven't stopped me doing anything, or made my breath catch. Well, and I can feel baby kicking away like Pele in there!

Went to a friends this morning for a breakfast of croissants, fruit and birthday cake. And I managed to get my eyebrows waxed there too! hehe

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 29/05/2010 07:29

Xav, I hope things are more settled for you- lovely that lo gave you lots of "hello mum I'm still here!" kicks

I have no idea what I am up to this weekend, but if the sunshines I'll be out wandering the woods with dh or may brave the aquarium today!

Have a fantastic weekend!

nymphadora · 29/05/2010 08:57

Just marking my place. Don't talk too much

ILoveGregoryHouse · 29/05/2010 09:04

Morning all. Just done a mammoth shop on Next for mum and dad to bring out next month. The only rule I have is no pink so got lots of red, navy, green polka dots, denim with flowers and bright sleepsuits. Have got a few baby boden things on watch on ebay too.

18 weeks today and starting to feel baby more but placenta is anterior so know I won;t feel as much as I did with the others, esp DS3 who was pretty strong in there.

Off for shower and then taking older boys for swimming lessons.

Xav hope you feel better today. I got a bit of a groin strain yesterday. Painful.

floozietoozie · 29/05/2010 09:48

TMI alert but I'm worried. My discharge was a bit darker this am and there was a blood fleck. It's possible the blood was from skin outside rather than inside I suppose but I'm now a bit terrified. I did a lot of physical stuff yesterday and my back was really sore by the end of the day and now I'm thinking idiot, you should just have sat still. I'm pretty sure I have felt the baby move this morning though but I'm also getting some twanging where my 5cm cyst is. The thing is, anything involving ds is pretty physical because he needs support to walk if he's not using his walker which he doesn't do all the time when we're outand he has to be lifted in and out of car seat, pram etc. He weighs 18.5kg or nearly 3 stone - he's a big boy.

I haven't got any cramping or anything so I'm probably worrying for nothing, right? [desperate for reassurance emoticon].

Xav, I hope your cramps are better, and ILGH welcome to week 18.

I hope you are all having better days. It's raining here. Ds has a birthday party this pm.

moonstorm · 29/05/2010 09:56

Floozie, please don't worry, I'm sure it is nothing, but I do think you should bet in touch with your midwife. I have had lots of bleeding in both pregnancies and have heard (internet and real life) about loads of people who bleed all the way through. It's probably a sign to rest (toddler excepted!)

Definitely take things easy for a while - if you have upset something, then give things time to settle again. Very good that you have felt the baby move. Big hug (((())))

Vikks · 29/05/2010 10:10

Floozie I agree with Moonstorm. Rest up today and give your midwife a ring just to be sure.
Try not to worry, (easier said than done I know) a tiny bit of blood can be quite common. Take care x

Elsa123 · 29/05/2010 10:58

Floozie, it sounds perfectly normal after such strenuous activity and at this stage not as worrying as earlier on. Try to relax it will help.

I'm shattered at the moment, its been such a busy week, I'm so pleased its a BH weekend. My boss dying on Wednesday had of course the effect of lots of unscheduled work dealing with it. I've been feeling lots of movements which is cool and my DH got kicked on his hand very firmly earlier which made him whip his hand away as if he'd been stung! I keep getting something hard and round poking out of my tummy- its either the head or a very bony little bottom....

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 29/05/2010 12:08

Floozie, I second the others to rest up and have a reassurance chat with mw. I have also heard of people in rl who have bled through out, so prob your body telling you to talk it easy.

And I totally sympathise with the "how the f* do I rest with a toddler?! " I have not found the solution yet! How my back will cope this pg I do not know!!!

Katy86 · 29/05/2010 12:28

Sorry havnt caught up on all the posts but just wondering is it normal that I'm still only
feeling the baby move really low down? I'm 20+6 x

AbFabT · 29/05/2010 12:32

Yet another one floozie, saying chat with your M/W - though it most likely is nothing, especially the later on we get.
Good luck. x
Xav, hope you've stopped cramping, but if you are still, and worried, call the M/W - that is what they are there for.
sam, let me know if you order your nappies. I'm not thinking about it for a couple of days as I was starting to feel informationed out!

Thanks for the link to the mini mode website, 9th. I don't go in for all pink for a girl or blue for a boy either, and want to stick with neutrals, black or white, or brights. I love cream and beige though, and silver/grey, so the Mamas and Papas range is good for me!
PumpkinPatch.co.uk also does a few nice non-gender-specific (not that boys should only wear blue and girls pink!), as do www.monpetitbijou.com/store/index.htm?SID - and to balance out those pricey places, Primark also do simple unisex things too!

KSal · 29/05/2010 14:08

Katy86, all my movements are pretty low down and i'm a couple of days behind. I think its all fine

floozietoozie · 29/05/2010 14:43

Thank you for your concern. I rang the maternity assaessment unit and the mw said it could be thrush causing it. I am prone to it so that wouldn't be a surprise and a few hours on it's seeming a distinct possibility. No more blood so far which is good.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 29/05/2010 14:59

floozie, I bled with thrush a couple of weeks ago. Can you go and get some 1%canesten cream to get you through? Hope all is okay.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 29/05/2010 15:00

hope its the old foe then floozie!

Baby clothes- would add jojomamanbebe to the list, to be budget balanced by h&m!
We found that lots of people gave us v nice expensive outfits for pressies both at birth and ds' first Xmas, so we only needed to stock up on basics. It's also worth it if people ask what you'd like, ask them to get clothes for 6mths onwards, as you get 100s of new born bits that they grow out of in weeks!

Nymph, hope Hay is going well. Such a shame that Henning Mankell won't ve there- but what a cool excuse!!!

Hermya321 · 29/05/2010 18:29

Floozie Seriously if you are worried, then ring your midwife and see what they think. I'm sure it is nothing, but it might be worth giving the midwife a ring just for your own peace of mind. I mean whats a phone call at the end of the day.

Oh and baby clothes, mini mode at Boots have some cool stuff in at the moment for unisex. It's more red type stuff. Also babies are us has some pretty groovy green stuff in as well.

I've been shopping today, we did the three B's. Bibs, bottles and baby blankets. We went into Mamas and Papas and bought a blanket out of there, it was 20% off. I also bought a lovely top from there and I got a pair of maternity jeans from next as well. I got them in my favourite style as well, so I was a very happy bunny.

For those who have found out what they're having there are some adorable baby clothes in John Lewis at the moment. I kept gravitating towards the boy stuff (who knows why), some of it had dragons on it and it just looked ssssssooooo cute.
