Nymph- I hope Hay was good despite what sounds like the worst b and b experience ever! What was the MN talk like? Any books your are v pleased with?

Vikks- I am hhaving go stay away from bath and IRS shops until our cash flow is back to acceptable limits- it has far to many good shops

ooh shieldbugs, hope you feel better soon. I've only ever seen glow worms in Wales, not Bristol-bath area, your lucky!! Hope you feel better soon.

Bionic ear- good kick! It's fun for dps to finally feel things

I've had an exhausting day with a hyper ds who didn't sleep this pm and a dh doing my head as he is working all weekend! Dying for a g and t!

nymphadora · 31/05/2010 19:14

seashells hay was nice. Sat was wet but we only got there 4ish & had tea bit of a shop then watched Ed Byrne who was good but too many drunks in the audience! Sun was sunny and it was a fight for a deckchair but we kept losing justine was v good , interviewed by Rosie Boycott who was actually quite nice , I've usually seen her being tough on people! We also saw Thomasina Myers who is a chef and she talked about mexican food & gave out samples! Got her book , MN baby one, Loads of signed books and loads from second hand shops. Dh proud of nice copy of wind in the willows ( not sure who it was for ) and we got loads of green penguins for our collection.

Hermya321 · 31/05/2010 20:23

Nymph I have no idea, it's the lollipop one I found her on the website.

Vikks It is lovely up here, but it always amuses me when I go away on holiday as I see the flow of traffic trying to get into the area and I'm just driving out.

Shieldbug Feel better soon!!

Bionicear Oooooo cool!! It's brilliant isn't it!

Seashells We won't tell if you have a G and T, promise!!

I had some major road rage on the way home with someone who was travelling at 20mph in a 40 zone. I didn't beep at them, but I muttered to myself. I felt so guilty when I got home, I'm normally a paitent person. But I seem to have turned into a snappy monster these past few weeks. I'm so so tired all the time as well. I've had a few days off of late and I have literally just slept them away and I still feel horrid. The other day I slept for nine hours through the night and then had a four hour nap during the day, it's not like me at all. I'm not relishing the thought of going into work tomorrow. Oh well these things have to be done don't they. I just hope I don't have a toddler style melt down in the middle of the office tomorrow.

I like the sound of the old wind in the willows- I love the smell of old books . glad it was fun

nymphadora · 31/05/2010 21:51

I'm v snappy today. Hating anyone who isn't dds or dh

moonstorm · 31/05/2010 22:26

Hello all!

Wanting reassurance again! Just posted this in 'pregnancy' asking about if anyone else has a really tight-feeling bump at the moment: (copied and pasted)

"Does anyone else have this? It's really hard to explain what I mean, but I feel like my belly won't stretch any more from the inside(even though this is dc2, so it has stretched much more).

I feel really good and fit apart from the tight bit over the top-ish part of the bump. It feels better when lying down, but can't do that with a toddler! I was walking in town today and was really slow - my whole body felt capeable of doing a run, but my bump was so tight I could only walk at a smail's pace.

Does anyone else have this? I know I could ask a midwife, but wanted to 'speak' to others before phoning!"

Wondering if anyone on here has this??

SilverSky · 31/05/2010 22:57

Evening all!

I am not sure if I am feeling baby yet or not! Experiencing the odd bubble but that's it. No def movements as such.

Am 20 weeks today. Half way!!!!!!!!

Oh and Husband's family have started buying stuff for the babe. Makes me feel bit weird if I am honest.

floozietoozie · 31/05/2010 23:21

Moonstorm - is it like a braxton hicks type tightness during the contraction? My belly feels tight at night quite often, like it's really stretching (which I suppose it is). I haven't had anything that stoppede
walking tho apart from a bit of general breathlessness.

Nymph an v jealous of your books.

I've had two v busy days in work and am pooped and should have gone to bed hours ago. Flipping I
internet!

nymphadora · 01/06/2010 08:44

moonstormMy belly feels tight at times I presumed it was dependent on how baby was lying. Yours doesn't sound quite the same but if you are worried just phone MW they are used to people worrying!

Elsa123 · 01/06/2010 09:01

Moonstorm I know what you mean- I've been getting tightenings for about 4 weeks now which is worse when I walk. I know what you mean about not feeling like you can stretch anymore- and its only halfway! I've also had lots of movement with something hard and round poking out of my tummy- either a head or a bony bottom....

shieldbug · 01/06/2010 10:24

moonstorm I've felt like that too, especially when walking. I find gently rubbing the bump helps. I'm also using bio oil for strech marks and that seems to have eased it too.

I'm so nervous at the moment- we've got the scan this afternoon. With my stomach upset (which is still rumbling away) I'm more worried than I would have been otherwise. I'm sure sproglet will be fine, but you I can't help worrying.

Yesterday was fantastic- dh had a day driving a steam train and absolutely loved it. We had lovely weather and it was really exciting being on the train and thinking "it's my hubby driving this!!".

AbFabT · 01/06/2010 10:38

Hi, All

I'm not feeling much movement in my tummy either, and I am one of the early ones.

Good luck with the scan, shieldbug.
Mm, love the smell of steam trains!

Got to go to work today for a meeting, dreading it - please wish me luck!

SamanthaB123 · 01/06/2010 11:23

AbFabT I was really worried last week about movements as I just didn't feel that I was having enough. I went to see the midwife and the babies heartbeat was strong and good. I am resigning myself to the fact that at this stage I'm not going to be feeling pokes and prods. I have only had two real prods, a while ago now. All I ever feel is the tickling sensation and sometimes I don't feel those often. I think that it depends how busy and tired I am too. I can't remember when I felt the others move or when the bigger kicks began. It was probably much later than this. Good luck with the meeting today , SB x

nymphadora · 01/06/2010 12:18

I'm mainly getting tickles but they are getting stronger iyswim

samB are you feeling better now?

Been to see consultant. Am being admitted tomorrow while they change meds. Possibly only for the day ( fingers crossed) but have to be prepared for over night. Just been & bought pjs and am now going for lunch on my own as dh not well and I want nice food while I can get it

SamanthaB123 · 01/06/2010 13:27

Nymph I'm fine thanks. Hope you don't have to stay overnight ...

tiredfeet · 01/06/2010 13:43

nymph really hope it goes well for you tomorrow. Never fun to have to spend time in hospital but if it makes you feel better then it will be worth it

vikks congrats on the scan, I am very impressed at all the shopping you've been doing since!

sheildbug the steam train driving day sounds great, I hope your DH enjoyed it! I went on a steam train the other week with friends and loved it, hadn't been on one since I was a child.

seashells thank you so much for the information about the nappies. They sound like a good compromise to use at least some of the time.

We have a 'parent information evening' at our local maternity hospital tonight, it seems to be a combination of talks and stands you can go round. Does anyone else have something similar, have any of you been? We're planning on going but DH is really busy at work this week, so its not exactly a convenient time. That said I think it will be more use to him than me, I've been working my way through a big pile of pregnancy/birth/ childcare books whereas DH hasn't had the time to think about anything other than work (rather conveniently his work quietens down in October for the winter, this baby certainly picked its due day considerately )

RooBear · 01/06/2010 14:13

hi everyone, had the scan this morning and everything seems healthy! we resisted finding out the sex as well so still unknown! hope all is well x

Elsa123 · 01/06/2010 14:22

fantastic roobear- its such a relief isn't it?!

Sam123- I know what you mean- I think they are just facing a different way so you can't feel stuff so much. During my scan last Monday, the baby was stretching and poking out sideways loads on the video and I couldn't feel a thing. I think also that at this stage when you're busy it's not that obvious. Lying down I feel it most. From what I was reading on other posts we'll soon be complaining about karate kicks!

I hope your meeting goes/is going/went well Abfab- not a stress increase for you x x

Nymph- good luck at the hospital stay- you're very brave- I hate hospitals and my blood pressure and pulse shoot up whenever I'm in them, even just visiting. Gosh, I don't blame you about the nice food- can you take some with you?!

Hermya321 · 01/06/2010 14:27

Roo Glad to hear your scan went well, another surprise baby to add to the list. Do you have any sort of feelings either way at the moment?

nymph Good luck for your appointment tomorrow. Oh any luck on the union front?

I'm still feeling so so tired today and I'm feeling quite light headed as well. I'm sat at work trying to muster up some well needed energy.

RooBear · 01/06/2010 14:34

thanks guys, I secretly want a girl and DH wants a boy so either was we'll be happy!

SilverSky · 01/06/2010 15:14

I poorly.

Have had upset tum today. Not sure if food scoffed yesterday or just a bug.

Rang MW under instruction from Husband. MW says lots of fluids and unless got fever or high temp all is ok. Asked if baby moving I said who knows!! Felt lots of bubbles Sat & Sun, not so much yesterday and today I am not sure.

Spent most of yday stressed and anxious with knotted tum which is not good I know. So am hoping all is ok and nothing is wrong.

Elsa123 · 01/06/2010 15:37

Try and rest Silversky. Have you tried rice water to calm your tummy? Boil some rice and drink the water it was boiled in- apparently a sure fire winner.

Hermya- the light headedness must be annoying-I've heard it can be babies pressing on arteries- joy.

AbFabT · 01/06/2010 15:44

Sam, well, I think some of us just don't feel movements! I am convincing myself it's because I have super-strong abs!

Thanks for your good luck wishes!
Been to work for the meeting. I'd had to see my GP first as she only works a half day on a Tuesday, and my fit note ran out today, and work would only schedule the meeting for the afternoon. So, not knowing the status, the GP signed me off for three weeks! I then start Jury Service! Great timing! So, went to the meeting, manager said it was pointless if I was away for five+ weeks, so postponed for a few weeks. I think he's wasting time so I am nearer maternity leave and it doesn't have to get dealt with. This actually suits me fine! Happy with that result. Jury Service could go on for longer than two weeks, but going by two week minimum, that takes me to the middle of July, then I only have 10 or so weeks before I'd be starting maternity leave. Result.

AbFabT · 01/06/2010 16:08

Weird - I refreshed before I wrote my last post, and it's only now I'm seeing a whole heap of responses.

Elsa, thanks for the kind wishes. I think they worked! It was happening right at the moment you wrote!

Roo, glad the scan went well! Woo hoo!

Silver, aw, take it easy, and try not to be anxious. Get well soon!

tiredfeet, that parent information evening sounds good! I don't think we get it - haven't heard of it, anyway.

tiredfeet · 01/06/2010 16:09

Abfab that's excellent news! Your GP sounds very sensible. The jury service couldn't have come at a better time too . It must be a huge relief to know you've got such a long stretch away from your awful manager now.

silversky poor you, that doesn't sound fun. Tummy upsets are miserable at the best of times.

roobear pleased to hear your good news too.

I am meant to be sorting out our house today but get very easily distracted!
