Hello, been away for a few days and only just found this new thread - my gosh we talk a lot!

Baby has been going BONKERS all day which is lovely. Scan is a week today!

Hermya I would notify TC as they discount £100 per week SMP when calculating your income - I neded up getting a huge back payment a couple of years ago after having DS. Worth ringing them and seeing what they say.

I've got a birth-pool-in-a-box in my garage that I am waiting to find out if I can use again - seeing consultant after scannext Weds to find out if I am high risk or not (has shoulder dystocia with DS as he was quite big, so am classed as high-risk until someone decides otherwise). I am GUTTED as they've just opened a midwife-led unit at my local hospital but I've been advised I can't use it as I may well need emergency help like last time...boooo!

SilverSky · 19/05/2010 20:20

Please can I have a look at someones list!!!!

I can't wAit for my scan next week. Had a horrid sharp pain last week and I put it down to sitting badly and then standing up. Prob something and nothing but being pregnant makes me more paranoid more than ever. So much for kicking back and enjoying pregnancy!

Hermya321 · 19/05/2010 21:06

SilverSky Someone did a clothing list earlier in the thread (page 11, Xav did it), have a look at theirs. I'll pop the one I came up with on though.

Buggy/Pram
Car Seat
Cot plus bedding, (pack of cot sheets, baby sleeping bag, pack of flat cotton sheets, funky baby blanket, pack of cellular blankets, cot mobile)
Moses basket
Playmat
Bouncy Chair
Suitable Baby bath/bucket
Bottles
Breast Pump
Steriliser
Milk bags
Dummies (if using them or at wits end)
Changing bag with travel change mat
Lots of Bibs and Muslins
Travelcot
Sling
Baby monitor
Baby Towels
Soft Toys and Rattley things
Baby First Aid Kit: Suitable medicines, nappy rash cream, Thermometre, nasel aspirator, baby nail sissors, cotton wool, savlon, sudocream.

If you're using resuable nappies or planning to, this is what MN told me I needed to buy.

Nappies (of course)
Nappy Bucket and mesh
Waterproof out and about bag to store dirty nappies etc.
Cloth wipes.
Nappy Nippas
Tea Tree, lavender oil, white vinegar (for washing/soaking and wipes solution)
Sanitiser.

Obviously this is not for everyone, but this is just what I came up with according to what I thought we would be using. I'm not buying everything on it as a lot of the stuff we'll be getting will be from family. I just wanted a list to refer to so that when I do go shopping I don't go mad and buy a playmat when two others have given us one. My at home list has where we're getting the stuff from as well.

I'm worried about the lack of posting from MMooMar and really hoping everything is ok with her, so if she is reading - how are you? (If you want to post that is.) I'd love to hear from you.

I also really wonder whathappened to Mummylovesadie .

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 22:04

Nice one, Hermya.

floozie, me too - there are lots of people on the stats list who seem to have slipped away. :-/

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 19/05/2010 22:10

I have wondered this too floozie. I really hope they are lurking or that the thread moves too quickly or the election threads drove them away for a while. It's such a difficult time for everyone.
Ladies, if you're lurking, hope all is ok.

Nymphadora · 19/05/2010 22:26

I think some people join MN then actually have a life & don't come back found this a lot on TTC threads

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 19/05/2010 22:34

What is this "life" you speak of nymph?!

Is there more to it than having dh marking essays till what looks like midnight, and watching hignfy whilst mning curled on the sofa with a stinky old dog, surround by toddler toys knackered from work?!

pookey · 19/05/2010 22:42

Well this provides me with a very convenient moment to pop back on the thread . I slipped away from the antenatal thread during my last pregnancy aswell, you are correct seashells, for me the threads just move too quickly and it feels rude not to read all the messages and keep up before posting. ahem must catch up on messages soon...

I remember in the beginning weeks people usually said when they had to stop posting so hopefully it is mainly the lack of time that keeps people away.

on a different note, is any one else ravenous all the time?

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 23:34

Welcome back, pookey! Where have you beeeeeeen?!

I don't have time to feel ravenous, because I am too busy eating all the time!

Hermya321 · 20/05/2010 07:49

Oh I saw Mummylovessadie on another thread on here, she's doing very well and still going strong by all accounts.

Nymph Yeah what is this 'life' you speak of??

Besides I don't really know anyone else who is pregnant at the moment and this little corner of the internet allows me to talk about pregnancy without getting blank looks, or, at the very worst holy water thrown in my face and a very swift exit.

Hi Pookey!!!! If I could I would sit in the crisps aile of the supermarket and never move again.

OP posts:
ILoveGregoryHouse · 20/05/2010 08:25

Hi again pookey.

I'm the oppostie of ravenous right now - there's nothing I can think of that I want to eat - it's a chore. Boo!

Am nervous about scan today - in about 2 hours. Am gonna cry!

floozietoozie · 20/05/2010 08:53

Hermya, thanks for that re MLS

I don't know how ds does it but every Wed night he manages to have a disturbed night then sleeps in in the morning, which is the one morning he has playgroup. (and I get a few hours rest). So once again we're going to be (very) late. I'm going to have to wake him up now. I don't like disturbing him too early if this happens because he does get v tired.

I'm s*ing myself about tomorrow. I feel like the condemned man approaching the noose.

ABFAB, good luck today. ['don't let the bastards grind you down' emoticon].

floozietoozie · 20/05/2010 08:56

And good luck ILGH too! We can cry together if you like? I did yesterday morning.!

AbFabT · 20/05/2010 08:57

Thanks, floozie, just leaving now. :-/

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 20/05/2010 09:07

I was a state too Ilovegh- really hope it's goes ok, look forward to seeing you back on soon to tell us the good news.

glad you found us let's hope you get to use that waterbath! Fingers crossed you are low risk.

Welcome back pookey. Like others have said, ravenous hunger just doesn't happen, I'm too busy eating

I'm glad mummylovessadie is still around. I never found the other oct thread so maybe some are on there? I can only cope with one chatty thread with my preghead- juggling 2 thread's histories would not be possible at the moment! If you ever lose me I'll be hiding in the camping section

babybunting2010 · 20/05/2010 09:12

Morning all, Been trying to catch up on everyones threads but was taking quite a long time, so hope I haven't missed too much.

Read earlier that you were asking about MMooMar she was on the other October thread earlier this week, she seems to be doing well.

I am soooo excited about Monday, have got my 20 week scan can't wait to find out what we are having.

Has anyone else felt movements on the outside, I swear I just felt the baby kick my hand!!!! sat at my desk hoping it will do it again!

Hope you are all well! Only read a bit about all the sh1tty times people are having at work, really don't know how people think they can get away with things I really don't!

x

PatsyIsPreggers · 20/05/2010 09:19

pookey - YES! I am staaarving all the time. Have been since the day I conceived. DH said I didn't need to do a test as went from being quite good about what I ate to having absolutely no control over my food intake overnight. Come to work every day with what I think of as a few snacks and my colleagues have described as a Christmas hamper full of food, including canapes, fruit basket and cheese board. Still, if I can't eat what my body tells me it needs now, when can I???

Nymphadora · 20/05/2010 09:34

I eat crap but cant motivate myself meals wise.

I do love my town today. Stopped to talk to a Mum friend on the way back from the school run. We were there for a while & I went really woozy & close to passing out. She took me in one of the shops where she knew the owner. The owner got me a drink & organise another customer to give me a lift home This is around 400 yards but they were all v nice & sympathetic.

tiredfeet · 20/05/2010 09:43

Its my 20 week scan today! Getting quite excited now although also a little apprehensive. I may not manage to post until next week though as got work and then tomorrow morning I'm on an early flight up north for a little mini-break with family and friends, can't wait

abfab I hope today goes well. I actually just quit my job in the end. My periods had stopped with all the stress, which wasn't much use when ttc. Plus I chatted to someone who worked in my team when she was pregnant and had had a horrendous time, and had been blocked from coming back. It just made sense to leave. I got them to put me on gardening leave for my three months notice, and got a bit extra on top. I couldn't face a big battle for what I was probably entitled to, as I just wanted my periods to come back. The day I walked out of the office for the last time I got stomach cramps on the train and by the time I got home my period had arrived with a vengeance! 6 months later I got my BFP. It does make me sad sometimes as I truly loved the work I was doing, and it was too specialist for me to find a similar job in this area (we need to be here for DH's work). But it did seem worth it when I got my BFP!

Its lovely hearing from people that can't post all the time . I work from home a bit so get easily distracted to post on mumsnet instead!

good luck to those with scans today or coming up, in case I don't manage to post until I'm back from my holiday

Nymphadora · 20/05/2010 09:51

OOh Abfab forgot it was today GOOD LUCK

jennimoo · 20/05/2010 10:12
