Thanks, Dilly and piesey. Yeah, he'll get his. I'm rising above it as I know I am a nicer person.

Welcome, Bongo!

DillyDora · 19/05/2010 13:27

xav you're a fount of info today! Cheers!

I had a combined test - is that the same? Nuchal and bloods and I got a letter through the post after a couple of weeks. However, the hospital said that if there was a major problem like a high risk they would phone me so I would have heard on the phone in less than 2 weeks if that makes sense. Does that help?
x

KSal · 19/05/2010 13:56

Xav I had the triple test in my last PG, its a similar notification procedure to the other tests in that they will call you within a couple of days if the risk is high, or if it is low they will just post it to you.

sorry i haven't been around much... trying to keep up tho.

AbFab sounds like a nightmare at work, must be tough coping with that while pg.

19 weeks today... got quite a bump now (bigger than it needs to be and mostly chocolate i'm sure!!)

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 14:03

Thanks, KSal, it is. And I feel angry that this special time is marred by the hell that is my work situation. I have been there for nine years without issue, and now I am pregnant, it's all gone horrible. I just cling on to the fact that in four months, I'll have a year away, concentrating on my new baby, and I am sure the work thing will pale into insignificance.

KSal · 19/05/2010 14:10

it will become insignificant and it sounds like you are getting good advice from your union rep. you at least have the end in sight, which must help... but i know that if i was in your shoes, i would find it very hard to switch off because worry at work just infiltrates everything. I am quite stressed out by a certain job at the moment and it clearly affects everything else as much as i don't want it to... (nothing like what you are dealing with as at least my boss is supprting me)

9 years is good service! I have been at my place nearly 10 now and most other people there think that is really odd!

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 14:14

Thanks - I am sure you are right. Having this baby is far more important to me than the work nonsense. But it's so consuming and stressful.
Sorry you are stressed too. Hope you can sort things out soon.

DillyDora · 19/05/2010 14:19

I think Ksal must be right - have the baby there in your arms just has to be more important than anything and I bet everything else really will pale into insignificance ... Chin up chicken, perhaps things will resolve in a really unexpected way (bossman will get a posting to....the Outer Hebrides!)

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 14:45

Lord I hope not - DH's parents live in the Outer Hebrides - we like to go visit without having to worry we'll bump into my evil boss!!!

DillyDora · 19/05/2010 14:56

AbFab PMSL!!!!!!!!

tiredfeet · 19/05/2010 14:56

AbFab I'm so sorry you're still going through all this worry, it has such echos of what I went through last year and I know how awful it was. It does sound though like at least you are getting good support and advice from your union rep though. I will stay positive for you that the doctor will see sense and sign you off for longer and / or that you have a productive meeting

a friend, who I was due to meet, emailed me today to say she wouldnt come and see me as there was chicken pox going round her daughter's nursery. I am tempted to forward the email to my brother

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 15:20

I know, Dilly. I PMSL when you mentioned the Outer Hebrides!!!

Thanks, tiredfeet. I hope the union rep is strong and useful for me tomorrow. I don't feel that confident. Manager is VERY crafty, and I think he's covered his backside so that LEGALLY I have a tough case, though MORALLY everyone knows the truth, but I guess that doesn't count for much. We'll see. I'm still stressed, so if there is no leeway given, I'll see if my GP will sign me off for a bit longer.
Nine years without a single day of sick leave, to now be reduced to this - hope that says something about my work ethic, AND how serious this is.

I can't remember if you said - how did yours get resolved?

LOL @ the chicken pox email to your brother!

shieldbug · 19/05/2010 15:57

I have a question- the other day, I was bending over and it felt like there was a pencil in my uterus! It hurt and I was really worried I had managed to trap a leg or something and damaged sproglet. I know he/she is floating in a lot of fluid, but things are getting a bit cramped in there with the fibroids. Anyway, the question is, has anybody else felt anything even remotely similar and am I being silly to worry abiut it? (Yesterday it happened again, only this time it felt like I had trapped a foot).

On a different note, I am now pretty sure that I can feel sproglet moving and kicking (which it sems to be doing a lot of)! Dh even managed to feel something when he put a hand on the bump, which he was excited about. Suddenly it all seems a whole lot more real!

shieldbug · 19/05/2010 16:00

AbFab sorry to hear that the difficult sitiuation continues. Hope your meeting goes well and the rep is cleverer than your boss.

KSal good to hear from you again and welcome Bongo.

Nymphadora · 19/05/2010 16:05

dilly & abfab do your pelvic floor exeercises now we can't have all this PYSL

DillyDora · 19/05/2010 16:10

LOL nymph

shieldbug · 19/05/2010 16:12

v funny nymph how are you?

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 16:16

shieldbug, I don't know about the feeling you had, but I would think these little ones are quite flexible and adaptable, and a bit of bending by mummy isn't going to harm them. Those fibroids are probably just like a nice spongy cushion for babyshieldbug!
Glad you can feel movement!

Thanks re the work thing. Sadly I know my boss very well, enough to know my rep and I really have our work cut out, as the boss is a very crafty man, and knows how to twist things so they don't look as bad as they are. I just hope personnel can see through it enough to help make things better for me.

LOL, Nymph! I must try and remember to do those more often!

PatsyIsPreggers · 19/05/2010 16:31

Hi All, your shopping lists seem very well researched compared to mine. We look at a catalogue or website for a few minutes, become overwhelmed with the sheer volume of information / choices of prams / travel systems / colours / cosytoes / slings / cots / you get the ides.... and say 'let's leave it for another day'!

DillyDora · 19/05/2010 16:35

PAtsy I'm like you - that's why I'm nicking Xav's list

Hermya321 · 19/05/2010 17:19

Nymph I suspect I am, I'm going to see if some friends back where I used to live might be able to keep an eye out on their lists to see if anything crops up.

Ivy I'm not showing yet either, people are starting to ask if theres anything in there.

Xav I had my triple test a week and a half ago and am still waiting on my results. Hopefully will get them later this week. They did say they would ring if anything concerning crops up. I did get a ring from a similar number to the hospital today, I nearly had a heart attack. Luckily it was just someone I knew ringing from work. Such a relief.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 19/05/2010 17:28

Nymph- I was most impressed that in the toilet at the antenatal clinic they had a huge sign reminding you to do your pelvic floor exercises!! I like my new hospital- hot ultrasonographers and a holistic approach to your pelvic floor!

Welcome bongo!! Settle in and make yourself at home!

Abfab I really hope your meeting goes well- it all sounds horribly famikar to my experience, try to stay calm and remember, ultimately it's all about you, dh and your bump, so act in your best interests, let the union rep do the fighting for you!
Ps, I like the sound of sticking it out for mat leave pay- it's your right, and at full pay you deserve it!

Shield bug, I'm sure lo willbe fine! It's us that feel everything, they are happy sloshing around in a lovely warm womb!

Ilovegh- hope the scan goes well- it's lovely feeling to know I have a healthy little girl in there.

Right, best get dinner on

Hermya321 · 19/05/2010 17:40

Obviously I don't get tax credits at the moment as I have no children, but I have a question for those of you that do.

Do they change when you go onto Statutory maternity pay? I know you have to report a change in circumstances, that seems like a change to me. I would just like to hear from those on here who may have more experience than me.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 19/05/2010 18:02

I have to tell them when I have bump, but not sure re when I'm on MA (or SMP)

AbFabT · 19/05/2010 18:05

Thanks, SeaShells.
