Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Link to the stats list.

abfabt dh doesn't get leave but hopefully it will be 2 weeks paternity then half term. I bet He will end up working bits though it's the nature of his job

hermya are we going to turn out to have people in common?

Antidote · 08/05/2010 00:07

Katy & seashells: sorry to hear you are feeling low.

You are not alone, it is a very weird time: I've spent a completely fantastic day with my best friends from uni who I haven't seen for about 5 years. We just got straight back to gossiping like nothing ever happened, minus the booze. She is completely inspirational with 2 kids, one with CP and a very grounded view of life.
I should have been so happy to get home, but completely irrationally convinced myself I was having contractions on the tube (!) and was nearly in floods in waitrose worrying that if we had to have a funeral for a stillbirth we STILL hadn't thought of a boy's name we liked.

I think this is payback for not having had nightmares....

Try to keep smiling at something little. Or phone a friend. xxx

sam12 · 08/05/2010 00:27

Congrats meansbeansmum and tyson on your little girls. I know what you mean Roo it is making me think twice about waiting too.

It is a total emotional rollercoaster isn't it? I cried for two hours when I realised that the settee I want won't fit in the position I wanted for the new house? and am totally paranoid that my friends are trying to avoid me now that I am pregnant then today I have been cheery as anything and had to try really hard not to laugh when one of my lovely students told me to f**k off when normally I would have been fuming! Anyway we are moving this weekend so am sure that won't do the mood swings any good.

Hope that those feeling blue start to pick up and everyone has a good weekend.

Where are the questions today?

Vikks · 08/05/2010 00:52

Hi All,
I?m sooo jealous of all these gender scans, I can?t wait to find out!
I hope those of you who are feeling a bit low feel better soon. I know what you mean, my mood swings even give me a headache.

Well I?m signing off for a few weeks, I?m going on holiday on Sunday and I?m staying away from computers, just a sun lounger and a book for me! I bet I?m going to have a lot to read when I get back?..but I?m gonna read every word.
This holiday can?t come soon enough, I?m so knackered with my workload at the moment, I think I might sleep for the first week. My scan is the day after I get back, so for once I don?t think I?ll mind coming home. Should we add our babies gender to the stats? I?ve got a terrible memory.

Take care everyone x

Nymphadora · 08/05/2010 08:57

Am I the only one NOT finding out I do have names for both but don't want to tell people in case we change them

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 08/05/2010 09:03

Katy I didn't mean to make you cry! Just try not to get too down about being down IYKWIM, as antidote, sam12 and vikks say, it up down up down - I'm a short tempered cow bag one minute, in floods of tears because I feel I'm not a good mother to one child let alone 2, then high a s a kite as I get a huge hug and kiss off dh and ds and we are out having fun.

I'm so unpredictable, by dh now has phone calls to my mum and sister along the lines of "you'll never guess what she said/has done now" I think its his way of coping - they all have a good laugh (I am irrational, I understand that, just can't stop myself at the moment!I start laughing too after I've done it.)

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 08/05/2010 09:07

Hermya321 · 08/05/2010 10:05

Katy Seashells You're not going mad, I promise you. I started having panic attacks a couple of weeks ago. I thought they'd end up commiting me for pregnancy madness. I did speak to my Doctor and Midwife and they were so so helpful. I'm a lot better now, but I can not tell you how good it is to hear someone say to you 'pregnancy can affect some people this way'.

Nymph I was talking to one of the girls at work and she said, 'oh I know someone whose pregnant?' and I did wonder for a minute if it was you. I wouldn't be surprised if we did, I had a handyman come round to my house a couple of weeks ago and he knew people I knew, small world.

Middle of June, I'm a bridesmaid and September. I haven't got my outfit sorted, but I think I'll be asleep on a table before 8pm.

  1. Do you think the hung parliment situation should be decided by
a) a drinking competition, b) an arm wrestling match c) a round of "my dad's richer than your dad" and who would win in each.

a, a drinking competition and for some reason I think NC would win.

  1. Any last minute holidays planned?

May go away for a few days in September and catch a show.

I am feeling a bit 'bleh', but I've put it down to the stress of my work situation, more than bump blues. Anyway, enough about that!

Nymph, we're not finding out the gender either! We also have names, and aren't telling anyone because I am just a secret squirrel!

  1. continued, those who haven't, have you exposed yourself to cbeebies yet (and the horror of big cock little cock?!)
No. Sounds awful!
  1. Whats your worse pregnancy symptom at the moment?
I really haven't had any! Possibly a little more easily tired, but not massively.
  1. Does anyone have a weddings to go to this year the size of a whale (and if you do have you got your outfit sorted, and do you think you will make it past 9pm?) No, nothing. We are obviously not very popular! Btw, Hermya, when I got married, SIL was one of my bridesmaids and she was seven months along - she did great, looked great, and lasted for much of the evening.
  1. Do you think the hung parliment situation should be decided by
a) a drinking competition, b) an arm wrestling match c) a round of "my dad's richer than your dad" and who would win in each. Can't we just get Jeremy Kyle to run the country?
  1. Any last minute holidays planned?
No. We conceived on our belated honeymoon which was our trip of a lifetime pre-children, so had a really good holiday. Now it's time to save our money and annual leave. There will be a few long weekends to Scotland to visit DH's family though.
Xavielli · 08/05/2010 12:42
  1. I actually really love all my children's books!
1.b - I really hate justin in all his many and varied forms.
  1. Just so tired!! Getting rather paranoid now as all you ladies seem to be feeling movements and I can't decide if I have or not. I guess I need to keep reminding myself that some of you are much further along than me!
  1. Went to a wedding last week and EVERYONE could tell I was preggers. I left at 9pm. Christening at 9am tomorrow, I hope they don't mind me turning up in jeans as I have nothing else that fits!
  1. d)Battle Royale.
  1. Going to the Fairport convention (folk festival) for the weekend in august. Good thing about it really is that if I decide I don't want to sleep in a tent its a 15min bus ride home! haha! River cottage is doing a festival season so I'm going to go and eat some of Hugh F-W's yummy grub!
DillyDora · 08/05/2010 15:10
  1. My DSS love Captain Underpants.. hmmm...
  2. Tiredness for sure! Though it's getting better.
  3. Wedding in Bavaria at 32 weeks (late August), I have a feeling that the maxi dress will be my saviour.
  4. Oooh...arm-wrestling I think but can we stipulate shirts ON please fellas (Gordie will win)
  5. Have 2 weeks booked off for July, DH is instructed to take me somewhere hot by the sea for a week of that but we'll see We'll also go to Germany to see the in-laws. The wedding is the last hol we have - 3 days by a lake in South Germany, very nice, very mellow.
Jealous about Fairport Convention though!

Big ((((hugs)))) to people feeling weepy and a bit fragile all round. I did have a cry over the election results but on the whole I'm happier than I was before pg!!! Now, does that mean I should just keep on having babies?

Re: movements, I think I feel something sometimes (like now, oddly enough) but never quite sure so I know what you mean Xavielli. I'm only 16+2 though.

Have a relaxed weekend, all!

Antidote · 08/05/2010 15:51

Gaaaaaaa.

Sorry

Have just retired to bed in a huff as DDH & I have spent all morning trying to plan new kitchen, finally agreed on layout & units only to go downstairs to vile old kitchen for cup of tea & the DH to say that he is concerned about all the chipoard and melanine in the old kitchen (circa 1981) going to landfill and couldn't we just moe the cooker?

Cue massively uncharacteristic weeping fit and emotional blackmail along the lines of 'do you want your wife to be chained to a sh*t electrical cooker, risking food poisoning from the foul units, raising your child who will be busy catching some life threatening disease from the scratched, stained, pockmarked mouldy laminate flooring?'

He's looking a bit scared and ha wisely take himself off to change a tire or something.

Please may I have my normal brain back?

Antidote · 08/05/2010 16:00
  1. N/A
  2. Managed to watch about 30s of CBeebies with nephew over christmas before brain melted & TV mysteriously 'broke'.
  3. Had to go to wedding at ~13 weeks. Luckily fitted into last year's summer wedding outfit (demure grey/cream spotty dress), but the jacket was a tad tight on the boobs. Spent the whole day trying to ignore one our so called friends saying 'Gosh, I do like your outfit, what a very well fitting jacket'. Left at 10pm when it became clear DH was about to lamp him! I do have a memorial service in June, no idea what to wear to that.
  4. None of above: sponsored silence. The one who stays silent longest wins!
  5. Planning Whitstable week (June) and Scotland end of August, to kick off the mat leave.

Feeling much better now, thanks MN.

AbFabT · 08/05/2010 16:52

I think you sound entirely reasonable about the kitchen, Antidote! Hope you get it sorted soon.

Love the idea of the sponsored silence for the politicians!

Antidote · 08/05/2010 17:25

You're very sweet AbFab, but in reality I know I was acting like a complete psychohosebeast

It will be fine. I have a very cunning plan, involving a bit of a trade off between the kitchen and the kind of car we might change to. Knackered old fiestas apparently don't take an isofix system, which is worrying DH. I'm just happy it starts.

AbFabT · 08/05/2010 17:44

I just empathise about the kitchen - we could really do with a new one, but there are other things that need doing first. In the meantime, the kitchen disappoints me, and I think it will just be more tricky once our baby is here. We'll get there eventually.

Ah now, we have been looking at car seats, and I went to a shop and the lady there doesn't rave about the Isofix bases, she reckons they are TOO sturdy in that if you have a crash, there's no give at all, so your child will get a more severe jolt, whereas if the seat is attached with seatbelts, the carseat will give a little more in the event of a crash, and therefore not jolt your child as much. We were all set on getting the Isofix system, but what she said made sense to us, and we are thinking of not having the Isofix thing now.

Antidote · 08/05/2010 18:11

Very interesting indeed about the iosfix. I shall look into it.

I think DH had been on the Which? website which is a bit draconian about the issue.

AbFabT · 08/05/2010 18:55

Ooh, I'd like to know which carseat Which scores highest for safety. Does it say that?

I am still dreaming of the Stokke pram, and the only carseat that goes with it is the MaxiCosy, which I think scores well.

NinthWave · 08/05/2010 20:06

Evening all! Not been on much recently - been ill with weird virus thing, then had an epic 2-day migraine from HELL that only cleared on Friday morning. Am still recovering...today I got dressed for the first time since Wednesday morning!

Friday Five:

  1. those who have dc - what is you child's favourite (and most annoying) book.

He goes through phases, but the most annoying is bloody Stick Man. It goes on forever (or seems to at 7:45pm when I am desperate for an ice lolly and the sofa)

  1. Whats your worse pregnancy symptom at the moment?

Migraines. Had two in the past fortnight, so hideous.

  1. Does anyone have a weddings to go to this year the size of a whale (and if you do have you got your outfit sorted, and do you think you will make it past 9pm?)

No! Nobody I know getting married.

  1. Do you think the hung parliment situation should be decided by
a) a drinking competition, b) an arm wrestling match c) a round of "my dad's richer than your dad" and who would win in each.

d) Total Wipeout challenge, with sharks in the water.

  1. Any last minute holidays planned?

Going to the Lakes next weekend for a few days with DS while DH is away, then day trip to Ludlow at end of May for my 30th birthday. Nothing else planned.

Am now off to watch Doctor Who and eat popcorn

AbFab, the maxi cosi is a good car seat. What colour do you like for the stokke?

moonstorm · 08/05/2010 21:59

AbFab - have you thought about posting this on the car seats section? There are some knowledgeable people on there who work with car seats. They could back up/ disagree with this comment. I think it's really interesting.
