Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Glad you're ok Nymph that low bp thing can make you feel truly horrendous so hope it rights itself soon.

So sad about the election - I'm a lefty, me, but Tony B broke my heart over the war in Iraq and I get really annoyed over the 2 party system - grrr. O well...

AbFab that maternity package is epic! I hope you can hang on for it! I get 4 weeks full pay...then half pay for 14 weeks...hmmm...

Any nice plans for the w/e?
xx

Nymphadora · 07/05/2010 11:59

dilly join us on the depressed lefties (can't link am on my phone)

problem with my bp is I am on meds for high bp & only reason I haven't been taking full whack is I tend to be sick when I taste them (1-2 a day rather than4)
I did have low bp with dd2 but in last few years have had high bp and no one expected this as a problem.

Hermya321 · 07/05/2010 12:08

Nymph I work for the people who are sort of next door to where you work who are in the middle of a big refurbishment at the moment. It is a very big company and we do a lot of different things but all within the public areana.

Dilly I don't know, I was never that enamored with Tony Blair, well at least he had a better smile than Gordon Brown but I always felt that Tony Blair was a good leader, people got behind him. I sort of feel that Labour has run out of steam or at the very least Gordon Brown has. I think they need someone who has enough energy to get people back on their side again. I'm not too keen on the Torries either, I got a leaflet a couple of weeks back and DC was on the front of it holding a new born baby and looking all family friendly. I didn't think too much of him after that . Then again, I don't think that the Lib Dems have got their policies in order enough to get things sorted. So in essence thats where I was yesterday. I did vote though, I used that voters question thingy that matched you up with the party that most suited what you thought about things. At least now I can complain about the Government, I did help put them there.

Hermya that's one thing we can say - the turn out at the polls has been great, up 25% I think from last time. That's fab.

Hermya321 · 07/05/2010 12:37

Dilly Yeah that is one thing isn't it, I think it was great that there were lines and protests to vote. Brilliant isn't it!!

Thanks, Ladies.
Yes, Dilly, I am very lucky with the maternity package. I've not heard of anyone else's coming close. Yours sounds pretty bad! Sorry!

It's our one year wedding anniversary this weekend! (Sunday). Haven't really got anything planned though - were thinking of going to Brighton for the weekend, but the hotels are £££ and I think you can go abroad for that money! DH would happily spend it, but I'm happy just being with him, so we might do a day trip, either Brighton or somewhere a little closer. We do nice things together all the time, so it's hard to make it extra special!

Nymphadora · 07/05/2010 13:20

hermya I thought that a while ago(shifts/challenging work) then something else confused me! Do you work much from that building? we are all sharing a car park atm [stalker]

abfab men get a 1 week full pay paternity leave and 1 week on stat which is ok. maternity one is pretty basic I think.

DillyDora · 07/05/2010 14:04

S'awright AbFab the baby can live on breast milk and I'll live on baked beans Congrats on your anniversary

AbFabT · 07/05/2010 14:35

Nymph, DH is saving up his annual leave for when the baby comes, so we should have some good daddy time with our baby too. Two weeks isn't very long for the dads, is it!

Aw, Dilly. Are you planning on going back to work after the 18 weeks?

Thanks re the anniversary wishes.

RooBear · 07/05/2010 14:45

abfab I have a great maternity package-full pay for 6 months! i'm sooooooooooo lucky

Hermya321 · 07/05/2010 15:16

nymph Seldomly tbh, I work in the town down the road from you. It depends if I have appointments on work days.

Hi All.

Another one worried about the election, RooBear.

MMoo, glad to make you smile. I am very ancient but, of course, think I am only 25. Certainly don't think I look 41. That's a grown up!

Poor DS3 has hand foot and mouth and is being a total nightmare as he's so uncomfortable with mouth sores. Bless him.Luckily DH is dealing with him so I don't get a kicking from a very stroppy 22 month old.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 07/05/2010 17:12

Stop talking mat leave packages!! Vet profession= no company mat leave ( why would we want to encourage them? To quote an old vet I use to work with) so most private practices = statatury only. I am broke after 6 years at uni and 2 mat leaves close together! Never mind, it's amazing what you can leave on, and we still manage to be comfy. Ds certainly didn't care! The joys of being young
dilly, meet you in the "oops" bit of the aisle! Battered baked beans taste the same

I'm only just recovering from last night. Have given up trying to predict what will happen next, the old rules seem to have gone out the window.

19 weeks tomorrow- just over halfway if I use ds as a guide. OMFG I need to get my head around the fact I'm actually having a baby, and plan a way to deal with a hyper 2 year old, a new born and exhaustion

[Confused]

SilverSky · 07/05/2010 18:24

Hi y'all,

Have been offline for awhile and so have missed lots and lots of MN posts.

Had my check up with the MW all is looking good.

I am starting to spread and get the starts of a bump though am sure some people are thinking - is she putting on weight or what? as I wander by with half a cream cake sticking out of my gob.

Elsa will email you back, just had no time and not even checked my mails all week.

So I see some of you have been doing the pushchair/pram convo.

Please spare me from doing my own research and give me the top 3! I need a 3 wheeler off roader type thing. I like the pram/lay flat types for newborns.

Any help is appreciated as its like being blinded by science when you start researching the blooming things! Won't a carrier bag do just the job? A Waitrose one of course, not just any old rubbish placky bag!

Meanbeansmum · 07/05/2010 18:55

I had a gender scan last night We are expecting a baby girl. . 2 boys and 2 girls, I couldn't have ever asked for more.

SilverSky · 07/05/2010 19:21

Katy86 · 07/05/2010 19:26

Katy86 · 07/05/2010 19:50

brilliant Tyson ahh im the only one having a boy at the mo thats 3 october girls and 1 boy so far! someone join me lol.

Now dont really know who to talk to about this so ill bore you all with it...

I feel so low im happy with the baby and everything, but i find something bad in everything at the moment and i feel really lonely even though i have a few good friends around me...anyone else eperiencing this or know what to do about it? Spoke to my doctor but he just looked at me like im mad

xx

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 07/05/2010 20:39

Tyson - congrats! Very envious of the scans

Katy - speak to your midwife rather than GP - they are more attuned to your homones etc now (and the v faint chance of antenatal depression)
with all the changes your body goes through (physical, hormonal and emotional) you are likely to get mood swings - I amhaving a dark couple of weeks at the moment too as I am exhausted and getting fretful about have 2 under 2. Try and get some of your girly friends together for a relaxed night and talk it through with them - plus we are always here for a good moan!

Do not think that just because your doctor didn't listen others won't either.

Katy86 · 07/05/2010 20:48

thank you seashells that comment prompted a few tears...im sorry youre feeling that way too, ill talk to my midwife..i wasnt like this with DD at all. I think im letting things get on top of me. thanks again xx

DillyDora · 07/05/2010 21:10

Congratulations Tyson and meansbeansmum hurray!

Sorry to seashells and katy feeling a bit apart from pregnancy don't forget all this election stuff and stuff on the news about Greece will be in the back of your mind and it's really unsettling...

LOL at silversky I too am less bump than porkylooking at this stage! Though DH tells me I'm just 'round'.

I'll take 9 months mat leave, I'll just be on SMP for a while, saving up now so I'll have a few quid in the bank and for the rest DH will have to make his millions ;0)
Seashells I knew the package was rubbish for vets, my friend is married to one, it seems like working all the hours for not much benefit - boo!!!

Meanbeansmum · 07/05/2010 21:57

Tyson, congrats!!! Spooky, we are having a Sophia!!! LOL. I bet she was gorgeous!!! My litte miss had her hand on her forehead, she must be a thinker lol!

Seashells and Katy ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) pg can be one of the loneliest times, I once read that antenatal depression is probably more common than post ND. Shame on your doctor for looking at you like that!
Seashella, that is awful about your maternity package!! How can they get away with that!

Must sleep, falling asleep at the pc, sorry if I'm not making sense.xxx

RooBear · 07/05/2010 22:38

congrats tyson and meansbeansmum you making me think twice about waiting! I am feeling the same katy and seashells burst into tears because the hoover bag was full and it wasn't picking up properly?! WTF? promptly threw it down and sulked DH was scared! anyway I'm off to bed, just watched a very spooky ashes to ashes so feeling like a need the light on!x
