Well I am sooo fat ... this baby is growing exponentially. AND i have started to feel sick again in the mornings....why why why...I think it is a cunning plan by dh so I really really won't want any more babies after this one - ha ha.

can you tell him to talk to my dh pleeeeeeeaase

OP posts:
pamplem0usse · 14/04/2010 11:33

Oh I thought i'd re-post my post here

Aussie welcome to my life.... I've now written c. 16,000 words but probably have another 6ish plus figures to do in the next fortnight. So I can erm, have some time off once it's done.... apart from the big presentation I have to do! :s It is quite an incentive though.

Cherry hopefully your mum will get better soon; at least you offered to look after the LO's.... if she says she's OK to then there's not alot you can do.

Vix I forgot to say congrats on the breast feeding decision. You've decided to try to do your best and that's all that anyone can ask for. I'm now kitted up with a breast pump to hopefully make the whole breast feeding thing easier; maybe once you've got going investing in one might be a plan so as to allow your DH to take some of the slack with the feeding?

(BTW anyone thinking about ordering the medela swing pump from John Lewis - don't. I'm now on to my third delivery as the seal on the box was broken on the previous two, the boxes bashed and the contents dirty. Yuk. And they won't send me pump number three until number two has been received back at the warehouse.... boo! They tend to be quite good on the compensation front though so maybe I'll get some vouchers.)

MrsZac how are you doing my dear? I'm still waiting for my pillow to be delivered from M&P (same one you have) really hoping it comes in stock soon as my back ache is getting beyond a joke... I only ordered it from M&P in the first place so that I could use the opportunity of paying postage to get some of the other stuff I wanted!

Is anyone getting a nursing chair? I've decided we really need one, and my Mum has very kindly said she'll get it for my birthday (yay!) but most of them are hideous aren't they??? The only one I vaguely like is the Kensington one JL stock. Also on the nursery front I've just ordered some samples of light grey paint... as DH has finally given in and said that he'll get rid of the hideous peach the previous owners had in the nursery -to-be! Yay!

pamplem0usse · 14/04/2010 11:34

And my God if our next door neighbours keep playing loud music I'm going to go mad. We've told them we work from home and they still insist on doing it at random times of the day.... grrrr

pamplem0usse · 14/04/2010 11:37

Oh but to cheer me up I've just found out the British Cheese Festival is 25-26th September this year. A month after my due date. Is it unreasonably to take a baby that's possibly only 2 weeks old from Herts to Cardiff so I can munch all the stuff I've not been allowed to for nine months?!!

cazzybabs · 14/04/2010 11:37

well actually i am at my mums so she is cooking

cazzybabs · 14/04/2010 11:40

mplem0usse - oh no!!!! I love piece and quiet - maybe because with 3 children and being a teacher its a rarity. Dh insists on playing music all the time (because he is a computer programme and so can have the option of peace he is wants) so I annoy him by turning it off at all times.

cazzybabs · 14/04/2010 11:41

piece and peace....oh dear

Alicetheinvisible · 14/04/2010 11:42

Cazzy how come you are not on the list? Or am i being blind?

Do you think the list should be trimmed down a bit at the start of the next thread? Lots of people only posted once or twice.

Need carbs........Starving again. Beans on toast?

MW appointment this morning, took BP, listened to heart, had a feel of bump, checked wee, all fine. Was going to measure bump but said it was a bit early and could get 'false' measurements.

cazzybabs · 14/04/2010 11:48

I never made it on the list... I am avoiding the midwife as my bp is always worringly high

pamplem0usse · 14/04/2010 11:49

Alice I was thinking we might want to trim down the list. Maybe if we could have some sort of system where people just write 'confirm' in their next post (or indeed just post confirm if they're lurking but too busy to do so) and our resident list-master could take charge???!! (you know who you are ;) )

x

p.s. I'm doing jacket pot and beans and cheese for lunch. Mmmm

cazzybabs · 14/04/2010 11:49

acutally it is fine...there we go...phew

CherryPie3 · 14/04/2010 11:51

Pample very YUK! about the pump from JL. Not the best service considering their reputation, hoping you get some vouchers to make up for the yukness of it.

Not getting a nursing chair, although I would love one. We simply do not have the room - never mind. Planning on getting a lovely cotbed instead - when we can finally agree on one that is!!!

Cherry result! They're refunding me £50 to apologise! So maybe you should all buy your breast pumps from John Lewis if you don't mind giving them a good clean!!!

I embarrass my long-suffering DH by complaining about things like this (he would just seeth and not do anything about it).... but he's always more than pleased when it suits his wallet!

It does show it's worth shopping somewhere with a decent reputation though. Mr Waitrose tends to be good too. After buying four packs of their essentials strawberries over the last four weeks and finding mouldy specimens in each one I returned the mouldy contents of the latest packet and they gave me 1. a packet of strawberries from their organic range and 2. a double refund. Yay.

Ooh missed the new thread so re-posting this here!

If I was wobbly last night, I am tearful now! Thanks guys for your understanding and compassion - I was a bit nervous at the kind of reactions I would get because (as my sister proved) you just never know!

I love the vix appreciation society Made me laugh out loud

Wishing you all soft skin and lots of energy, I seem to have enough to go around for everyone at the moment - a bit like the duracell bunny LOL

Love to you all xx

Chulita · 14/04/2010 12:53

Didn't realise everyone was posting on here, just posted twice on the last one!

soontobefatnat · 14/04/2010 13:05

New thread, gosh! Well, I caught up with interest on all the debates yesterday and feel so happy that I belong to such a sane, sensible thread. Go us! (I'm actually afraid of the rest of MN!) Also wanted to give my thanks to Vix for her story.

I'm 21 weeks today, starving hungry, sleeping like crap (wake up at 5am with baby bouncing and me completely full of energy...which disappears by the time I get to work!) My scan is in nine days now and I may flip out entirely with impatience...

Oh, speaking of which, good luck to Star for tomorrow!

Finally, I have an embarassing confession to make. So after much hand wringing, DH and I decided that now is not the right time for us to buy a flat (would be our first) so we're moving in a few weeks to a bigger place that we're renting. It is lovely - and unfurnished. For the first time ever we'll get to kit a place out with our own stuff. Hurrah! We went all out and bought a bed this weekend - spent a fortune. It's so worth it though. Now, my DH is 6'6 and pretty big with it, so we splashed out on a super kingsize. His feet now won't stick out of the end of the bed. More hurrah!

But here's the thing - in our frenzy of bed buying, we forgot to consider... the baby! We measured the bedroom and the bed will fit fine... But I've just realised that there will be no room for a cot. I quite wanted one that connects to the bed so that it would be easy to feed at night, and also so the baby would know we were right there. I can't believe I forgot the baby!!

This brings me to my final thought - what are other people doing re sleep arrangements? A few of the baby books I have are pretty hippified and are really into co-sleeping. But I'd be so afraid of squashing the baby, I really don't think I want that option. (Hence the compromise of the cot attached to the bed). Then I thought we could get a folding crib for downstairs, for napping during the day. What's everyone else thinking?

Sorry! Epic post!

nat our room won't fit a cot either and won't fit a side-cot due to the position of the built-in wardrobe. We're going to have to squeeze the moses basket in where the laundry basket currently is. With DD I sort of co-slept for about a week but I got mastitis and breast thrush and her latching on was absolute agony so moved her back into the basket. I preferred being awake to steel myself for the pain! I didn't sleep well with her in bed anyway so it was no loss to us really.

soontobefat so easily done. We managed to forget to measure the 'nursery' before buying our cotbed and drawers. Oops. Thankfully I think they fit just about OK. Haven't worked out what I'm doing for the first few months though. My lovely in-laws are buying us a moses basket and stand (that wasn't sarcasm, they are actually wonderful, I'm very lucky -- my DH less so my Ma's a nightmare and my Dad isn't worth a mention). Unfortunately it won't fit on my side of the bed and DH is very resistant to swapping, but I suppose he will just have to!
Is there space for a little attached one then? I assume you're working with just a single bedroom?? -- I'm sure the folding crib will work just fine xx

I was thinking of a Moses basket at first until bubs is ready for cotbed. I think that's what my brother & sis-in-law did & they have a lovely happy lil girl who has virtually been sleeping through the (majority) of the night since she was 2 months so anything they do / advice they give me I'm gonna give a try!

Listening to lots of u talking about all your planning & preparations & feel like I've done not a lot apart from giving in & buying some cute lil outfits that I've gone all gooey over! Still making the most of chilling out in my 2nd trimester bliss I guess, although being very relaxed & calm about things is quite typical of me. Maybe a bit too much? I take after my very calm & collected dad so hopefully my baby will follow suit!

Have been laying on the sofa being lazy & watching random daytime telly & baby started wriggling & kicking. I lifted up my top over bump & could actually see it moving for the first time! Looked a bit like a mini Mexican wave lol I have noticed my bump being slightly different shapes (ie slightly more rounded to one side, then the other) but have never seen it move before, it was weirdly endearing! Bless

Hope everyone is having a good day x

Pample Go you!!!! That is a fab result!!! Now then....what you gonna buy with your vouchers??

Vix You know that tears are catching don't you? So if you get all tearful then we'll all follow suit . I'm really glad you feel ok about telling us your story - it must have been very difficult for you. We're all here for you honey, it's a shame those close to you felt they couldn't be when you needed them. xx

Chulita Am a little bit surprised that the lady expected spots to just appear overnight if the 'pox' was cntagious. I was under the impression that chicken pox was contagious anyway. I remember when I had it when I was 5, my sister brought all 4 of her children round to play after school so they would catch it too. We called it a chicken pox party - she said she'd rather them have it and get it out of the way, makes sense in theory but 4 children - all aged 4 or under - 4 bodies to cover in calamine lotion, 4 itchy bodies....not sure I'd cope well with that at all!!!!
Oh, and regarding a cardi - try the Asda/George website - I'm sure they have cardi's in now - I saw them in store but I'm sure they have them in their maternity range online too.

Nat Yay for the new place and furniture. And at you forgetting the baby. Not sure what to suggest re sleeping arrangements as we're putting the cot at the side of our bed - woudl a moses basket work for you, at least for the first few months? Is it just a one bed property that you're renting? Sorry thats not much help

Crikey - didn't realise how much I'd rabbited on there .

As you were

It's a two bed house, so in theory lots of space. We've opted for the smaller room (bit nicer) for us, but it's plenty big enough for the bed and other bits and bobs. It's just cos of the position of fireplace/fitted wardrobe/the way the door swings that we're only able to put the bed at one end and that wall isn't long enough to accommodate our giant bed and an attached cot. I think maybe a crib or Moses basket it is then... We stupidly didn't measure the 'nursery' though ( it really is plenty big enough for a cot and other baby furniture what nots... Maybe there's some wiggle room there [pondering expression]. Ah well, we'll find out when we move in! Can't wait!
