bubba DD had a moses basket til she was old enough to go in a cotbed and still isn't sleeping through so I wouldn't count on that being a cast-iron solution

[potters off to check George website]

CherryPie3 · 14/04/2010 14:08

Ok, feeling like a crad suggestion maker now - just checked George and they don't have the cardigans online anymore. I'm practically positive there was blue one on there - cos I nearly ordered it!!

Sorry Chulita

Confirm.

Hi, I am here, how are you all ladies?

I'm having mad indigestion and I feel as if someone has got into my stomach over the last couple of weeks with a bike pump and given it a few serious pumps. I can't sit on the couch now, I have to recline!

My neighbour bought over a 20 pack of peters trumpet icecreams cos they were on special and I have eaten half already, (sorry kids, but they didn't really need them)

I swear I never had a sweet tooth 20 weeks ago!

NichyNoo · 14/04/2010 14:16

Hello all...nice shiney new thread for us!

I had my 23 week anomaly scan today...all looked well

Baby was punching and kicking constantly - DH couldn't believe it! Glad he saw 'proof' though as he now knows I'm not making it up as baby always tones down his punches when DH puts his hand on my belly

All measurements seemed to be fine although the doctor did say that he has a slightly larger than average head which is nothing to worry about but am now slightly concerned about any possible impact on my ability to give birth Did I say I have a very low pain threshold?!!!

vix - it was very brave of you to share your experience with us. I have supported two very close friends who went through a similar experience to you and got a very hard time from unsupportive family.

Personally I am 100% pro-choice but think that it is such a difficult decision and it is up to every woman to make her own choice as to what is best for her and her circumstances.

On a lighter note, I too have been with my DH since we were 18 (11.5 years!) It does seem like a lifetime

LilyPad72 · 14/04/2010 14:17

Chulita I just got this cardy - linen mix - from Jojo. If the link is too big - it's under knitwear - 5th one out of 11 - comes in blue and 'natural' - £29, which is not tooooo bad for linen. It's quite nice, and I think I might still wear it afterwards.

Oooh confirm keep me on the list please

girlsyearapart · 14/04/2010 14:23

confirm.

Hi everyone,

had a knackering day yesterday took the dds to the farm and had about half an hour turn around time to get up to the south bank for a meal for my friend's 3oth- nuff respect to all you commuters!

We had a moses basket for our girls until they wouldn't fit anymore then they moved into their own room.
Prob around 4 months with dd2 but more like 2.5 months with dd1 but that was when her room was right next to ours.

I couldn't do the co sleep thing- far too paranoid about squashing the baby plus dh works funny hours so he'd wake the baby I think.

Wrt the abortion debate I think more like 12wks is more resonable limit though you should still be able to have a choice if you find the baby is poorly at the 20 wk scan.

If I had a disabled/downs baby of course I would love it but I have M.S. which means I could theoretically end up in a wheelchair myself and sometimes need care myself I couldn't knowingly have a child with additional needs.

Chulita · 14/04/2010 14:31

No worries cherrypie, there are some that could work in the non-maternity section!

DD moved out at 8 weeks simply because I couldn't sleep with the noises she made. Ok so she never slept longer than 25 mins at a time and I had to traipse across to her room mid-winter for every.single.feed.in.the.freezing.cold but it was worth it to grab those precious 25 mins! (can you tell I'm dreading the newborn stage?)

Alicetheinvisible · 14/04/2010 14:45

Confirm! (but you probably had figured that out )

DD was in a moses basket in our family swinging cradle until about 4months i think. Until she was too big and then we put her in her cot in her own room. This time we may not have the crib and put the cot in our room as we only have 2 bedrooms and i don't want the baby disturbing DD.

Can i just say that swinging cribs are amazing! DD settled so well with the gentle swing of it, which meant that if she started stirring in the night i would rock the cradle and she would settle down again without needing to be picked up. The thing putting me off is the size of our family one - it is huge!

LilyPad72 · 14/04/2010 14:54

Confirm me too!

loobyt · 14/04/2010 15:16

Blimey, another ne thread, I can't keep up!

Hope everyone is keeping well. We went for our 20 week scan last week and everything was fine. I was a bit dissapointed though as baby had it's legs crossed so we couldn't fine out the sex. I did find out though that I have a low lying placenta so I have to go back for another scan at 34 weeks. Really hope it has moved by then. Anyone else have/had this problem?

Good luck to all house movers. We (well DH) is currently renovating our house, starting by gutting it so we are living in one bedroom and our caravan Looking forward to a beautifully renovated house come the summer though, I hope!

loobyt · 14/04/2010 15:20

Oh and 'confirm'!

soontobefatnat · 14/04/2010 15:27

Ooh, Alice, good to hear that about swinging cribs. I've got my eye on one made by a company called Cariboo... It seems like such a good idea. I think I'm definitely going to go for one now... [Potters off to spend the rest of the day doing online window shopping]

CherryPie3 · 14/04/2010 15:43

Hello everyone

Sorry I haven't been posting much - been sorting the list

So what I've done is created a whole new word doc with peoples names copied and pasted over onto the new list, that way if the ladies from the 'old' list pop on, I still have the details to update - does that make sense?

I've also, , instead of just copyion the 'confirmed' ladies - I copied/pasted all the regular posters onto new one, and also all the ladies who have announced their pink/blue news already as those posts have all happened in the last couple of weeks really.
If anyone's not on the list and would like to be please just yell and I'll get you straight on there - if I've missed you off I'm sorry - but again just yell at me and I'll get you on there.
Is that ok? I could always change it. I like playing with lists....

Heres a peek at it.

Hey girls

Just back from my 25 week appointment with a very confused GP. First she tried to tell me I was only 23 weeks then decided, no, I was 24+5 Very strange. Yet midwife and scans all confer with my dates. Don't suppose it really matter that much now!

But then she didn't want to give me my MatB1 saying it was too early - eventually convinced her otherwise. Was measured (oh dear, your too big for your dates), prodded (oh no, my mistake, your just right) and heard heartbeat (oh, I can never find it, I'm rubbish at this, is that it do you think?)

Home now though and had a mad dash to tidy up before sending email to work to tell them I'm back - FIL arrives tonight for a week to help us with lots of odd jobs. yippee!

Anyway, off to look at swinging cribs. With ds we had him in a moses basket for 10 weeks then bought a M&P travel cot with a proper mattress. We'd already bought a huge cotbed for him which wouldn't fit in our room but didn't want him in the nursery that young. The travel cot was small enough to stay in our room until we were ready for him to be in his own room and also meant we had a really good travel cot. The proper mattress meant I didn't worry about his spine or him being uncomfortable or anything.

I knew I'd forget to say something.....silly me!!!

chulita I don't know if you're still looking but I found these for you.

Fair price and think they'd probably be ok in Summer too.

Cherry pie I keep meaning to say that since my birthday I am now 32, so next time you update the list could you change my age for me? I would do it myself but I know I'll mess all the formatting up! xx

CherryPie3 · 14/04/2010 15:51

erm....blueberries - no offence but your GP seems a bit rubbish. Is she usually like that?

Sounds like you could have told her how to do things

Looby You realise I need to go buy real syrup sponge now, with custard!!! My mouth is quite literally watering at the thought of it.....only 1 hour 9 mins til hometime

OP posts:
bouncingblueberries · 14/04/2010 15:54

cherry she was so rubbish! But thankfully we have about 7 different GP's to choose from, so rarely get her.

Feel really naughty now. Waited a good hour before emailing work to tell them I was back from my antenatal appointment and now everyone is in a meeting, so there's no-one to tell me what needs doing! Och, I've worked the past 2 evenings

CherryPie3 · 14/04/2010 15:55

All done for you Vix, I've updated it and will post in next time theres a need - prob tomorrow after Stars scan

Meant to say to Looby as well, I had a low placenta with dd, all was fine so don't worry. My mw kept telling me to lok out for bleeding as that can mean it hasn't moved and is blocking the 'exit'.

I ever got to have my follow up scan as my waters broke I gave birth the day before it . They did discuss doing the scan but then concluded that if my placenta was still low then my waters wouldn't have broken at all.

OP posts:
CherryPie3 · 14/04/2010 15:56

blueberries, I think you're entitled to be a bit naughty sometimes, don't worry!!

OP posts:
loobyt · 14/04/2010 16:00

Sorry Cherry, I don't actually have any syrup sponge pudding, I just have it on my shopping list for tomorrow, but REALLY fancy some NOW!

Sounds like a low lying placenta is a fairly common condition and most of them do move so fingers crossed!

bouncingblueberries · 14/04/2010 16:01

Sigh, better go and do the dusting then...

CherryPie3 · 14/04/2010 16:05

Awww, blueberries, just stay and play a little longer...
