Morning- so sorry to hear your news Bunder- and how rubbish to be abroad when it happened.

Gosh all these 20 week scan dates. As I never got a date through for my 12 week scan I have no faith in getting a 20 week one. Thinking of going private again.

So, who has told work?

shieldbug · 13/04/2010 12:03

BUnder so sorry to hear your news. Take good care of yourself and good luck with ttc.

Sam fingers crossed for your scan.

hermya love the new thread title

My news is I'm still feeling rubbish but am still awaiting results to find out what's wrong. My PhD is in Biology, looking at variation in female reproductive success in an invasive species and the population impacts these have. I still haven't finished my experimental work (eek). I'm in the middle of an expt now, which is proving very difficult to manage given current state of health.

Oh Dillydora- forgot to reply- yes its post grad. Not sure why I'm doing it!

MummyLovesSadie · 13/04/2010 13:47

Hi everyone, sorry I've been awol. My Mac has a few keys that are not working & it's in for repair so I'm currently nabbing dh's to write a quick post.

BUnder if you are still around, so so sorry to hear your news. You were away skiing weren't you? A first mc is always the hardest, (hopefully it will be your last) especially if you already have one lo & it comes totally out of the blue. When you feel stronger you are more than welcome to join the other thread I'm on, The PFJ, QA & Louey are all there now.

MummyWilliams thanks for asking after me. I had another blood test this morning & they will call me with the results on Thursday. I'm feeling a bit more positive now as they are not necessarily looking for the hormone that was too high to have dropped, but they are also measuring two other hormones so hopefully my odds will improve because of it.

Just had the best lunch ever, a blt with lovely crispy streaky bacon & lashings of mayo mmmmmmmm. Oh & I'm addicted to pink lady apples!

Congrats to all of those with fab scans. I'll add myself onto the 20 week scan list:

Hi everyone I'm on the other Oct 10 thread but thought I'd nosy onto this one as well! I'm due on the 22nd with my next scan in June (can't remember the exact date as i'm at work!)

KSal · 13/04/2010 14:22

haven't told work... although i think i am starting to show a bit. In fact, still haven't told anyone apart from my mum and DH's mum.... in a couple of days we should know how the blood test went (no news is good news... so i am hoping to hear nothing at all in the next couple of days ). after that i am looking forward to fessing up to all our friends. Some won't be in the least bit surprised (i was sober on my 35th birthday for a start). don't think work will be impressed.... but hey ho...

KSal · 13/04/2010 14:23

arg forgot to say hello to RooBear! welcome to the thread!

was also thinking when i announce to the world i will add myself to the due date lisst. its changed slightly so will be due 13th Oct.

SamanthaB123 · 13/04/2010 15:00

Hello Everyone,

Just home from my scan, the whole thing was bloody brilliant. The sonographer was lovely and gave us loads of time and the baby (just the one) was just really cute. I was amazed at how much detail there was in comparison to my scans with DD's ten years ago. We could see little fingers and toes, the ventricles of the heart and the different parts of the brain. We listened to the heart beating and watched as it rubbed it's nose with it's hand. Wow. I am definately having a baby.

KSal · 13/04/2010 15:17

Congratulations SamanthaB! so pleased for you

maybe there aren't any twins on this thread... are there any on the other thread RooBear??

RooBear · 13/04/2010 16:05

not that I'm aware of KSal, I'll keep my ears to the ground though!

shieldbug · 13/04/2010 16:45

sam brilliant news. Your baby sounds so cute already!

Hermya321 · 13/04/2010 17:53

Sam I'm a bit jealous to be honest with you, my scan wasn't really that detailed at all. But great news though!!!

Roobear Hello!

I'm glad that people are liking the new thread title, I'll start the new one in a couple of days if thats ok.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 13/04/2010 18:24

SamB thats fantastic news - congrats, you are having a baby (not a tractor!)

Roobear welcome to the thread

I've done day 2 in my new job, the actual tasks are not that hard, but can I find anything on the computer system or filing cupboards, I don't think so. One person working on there own for over a year = a very personalisesd filing system! Oh well, its not for long - only 3 more weeks to tick then I am definately eligible for MA

SamanthaB123 · 13/04/2010 19:12

Hermya321 Do you know, I was really surprised by the whole experience today. I was expecting a similar experience to that of ten years ago and was taken aback by the quality of the scanners that they used. I have spoken to a few people since the scan, some of whom have had children recently and they were surprised at the detail that we were able to see. The hospital is being rebuilt - but my scan was in the old building. Maybe they have all new technology in place ready to move across when they go into the new building. We could even see amniotic fluid in the baby's tummy and the throat moving as s/he swallowed. It was incredible. I feel really lucky. Do you know though, for all the things that I saw, the only thing that realled mattered was the little heart beating, what a joy!

Xavielli · 13/04/2010 19:22

BUTB So sorry Look after yourself. x

Right! Haven't been posting but have been lurking.

NCT classes - never have never will!

Buggy - Without a doubt getting the iCandy Cherry. Fell in love with it the moment I looked at baby things.

20 week scan - Yes, I will be finding out the sex as I did with my other two. I just love it!!

DD is turning 4 tomorrow! Soooo much to do, have to clean the house for the masses of admirers she is expecting. Haven't even wrapped her pressie yet!!
I have finished making her birthday cake tho, and have put a picture on my profile if you want to have a look and boost my ego

AbFabT · 13/04/2010 20:17

RooBear, welcome. Do we get to keep you? Come play with us! Bring your friends! I wish we were all one big group, the October 2010 lot. Maybe we should look at merging when we make a new thread?

SamB, great news, happy you!

SeaShells, keep up the good work!

And wow, Xavielli - awesome cakes! (Hint: it's my birthday next week! )

KSal · 13/04/2010 20:19

Xavielli - am speechless over your mad cake skills.... very impressive indeed!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 13/04/2010 20:30

Ok - not told work. Will tell them maybe next week or week after, not quite sure what to say as I have not been there long. Any tips?

Anyone else having a nightmare sleeping. I am fine, til I wake up needing to pee, then I pee, then my hayfever kicks in and then I can't get comfy again, find it really hard getting used to sleeping on my left as the right or on my back is so comfy.

I keep forgetting not to stretch and my tum pulls now and then or even things like sitting up in the bath, I naturally use my tummy muscles to pull myself up and I get a twinge. Why can't I go back to being the usual lazy tart I used to be?! LOL.

Got NHS Scan this week, I guess depending on how thorough it is may decide if we go private again for 20 wks.

I, too, am bamboozled by the car seat/buggy - laying flat whole situation.

floozietoozie · 13/04/2010 22:08

Xavielli - mmmmmmmm, caaaaaaaake. Now I want some please. You should do that for a living. I love that dress one! The last time I made a cake I was 10 . However, I am aiming to try and learn before DS's fourth birthday next Jan, although with a small baby to add to the mix, perhaps he'll have to wait a few years yet!

SamB - oh, your scan sounds lovely. Mine was fab but not very long, but as you say the best part was seeing the little beating heart.

Roobear hello. Nice to have you over with us.

How common are twin pregnancies, does anyone know? Are we bucking a statistical trend, or aren't there enough of us? There was one set of twins on my ante-natal thread last time.

I haven't told work yet, but I probably will next week. I'm not back in until Monday now anyway(hurrah).

Nymphadora · 14/04/2010 06:34

2 1/2 hours to go!fingers crossed for me please

Was sooooo exhausted yesterday. Fell asleep at work was facing away from everyone at that point so could have been worse & was only seconds but repeatedly! So I did a quick hone visit then went home. Had to stop about 10 mins later for a nap in the car which lasted an hour and was then v late to garage to get my car. Got in at 5pm then straight to sleep. Woke up briefly at 10pm to get changed then slept til 6am.

Hoping that that was a one off rather than a new set of tiredness .

Welcome to roobear andcongrat samb on scan & no twins ! Glad to hear everything is going better MLS

KSal · 14/04/2010 08:28

Wow Nympw... that is a lot of sleep - you muct have needed it! I've been asleep at 9.30 every night lately... no sign of a 2nd trimester energy boost here yet!

so... good luck - half an hour to go now!

KSal · 14/04/2010 08:30

oops sorry about sausage finger typing
