Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
neenz · 18/02/2010 17:10

I couldn't have a water birth with the twins but I did spend about three hours in the bath and it was FAB! I would definitely recommend it. It was clean

Vix, is that at the Women's? Can you ring and ask if you can be scanned at a different hospital. I don't think it is good enough to just rely on a cancellation. Ring your MW about it maybe?

I feel like the weeks are flying by so it feels like Aug will be here before we know it anyway

Missus84 · 18/02/2010 17:22

Are other people having hideous headaches too? It's making me miserable - always seems to be in the same point in my head too.

Anyone have any suggestions for cures? I've been trying to drink more non-caffeinated drinks but of course that's making me pee even more I don't want to keep taking paracetamol either.

vix206 · 18/02/2010 17:40

neenz it was at Leicester Royal Infirmary and aside from private scanning there is no other option.

Nikalah · 18/02/2010 18:10

That birth was amazing - it even had me welling up! Would like a water-birth, but knowing my luck both will be in use when I get there... plus I live in a holiday resort and apparently it gets busy during the Summer with people coming on holiday and unexpectedly giving birth!

vitapulchra · 18/02/2010 18:47

Hello lovely ladies--
Just popping back in to boast of my holiday sans DCsDH and I are getting off the island and going to London, leaving the LOs with their wonderful grandparents. DH in desperate need of time offhe's self-employed and has been working 18-hr days since last May. DS2 was born last June on a Saturday so he was able to continue working on Monday (not that he wanted to.) We never see each other any more and so I can't express how much we are looking forward to an entire weekend away, to ourselves. Going to see friends, a film, a concert, SLEEP, and eat as cheaply as possible so as to do NO COOKING!!!!!! Should be fab.

btw, I'm starting off this pg larger than my others, and need bigger maternity clothes and some for summer, but absolutely don't want to spend money. There are no maternity stores in Guernsey, so this is my chance. where do I go?

Aussieng · 18/02/2010 18:48

Thanks all - the pools do seem popular. Pamplemousse I have flash bathroom cleaner on my list of things to pack in my hospital bag - Just in case.

FireOpal · 18/02/2010 19:47

bouncingblueberries · 18/02/2010 19:52

vita if you want cheap, try H&M - the one on Regent street have maternity in the basement. Or have you tried eBay? There's loads on there.

Chulita · 18/02/2010 20:09

vita, most of the high street stores have a maternity range, Peacocks, New Look, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins - they're not too expensive. I've got 2 DP tops from last time that cost £2.50 each and they're lovely, I'm wearing a New Look top today that I bought from Ebay for pennies. Just as long as you're not a size 10 and looking for over the bump jeans, look on Ebay Someone keeps outbidding me and it's doing my nut...

neenz · 18/02/2010 20:20

lol Chulita

missus84 I'm not sure how bad yours are, but my midwife said that if I get really bad headaches to contact her. My maternity notes also say to do so. Anyway, if you keep getting them, it's probably better to get checked out just in case.

vitapulchra for eating cheaply in London, check out the "Stockpot" mini chain.

CazEM · 18/02/2010 21:59

Hey, can I join?! We're due 7th Aug. 15+5 today!

CazEM, age 24 (v soon to be 25), #1, Newport, 12 week scan fine. Panic scan at 15+2 because of 2 episodes of quite heavy spotting, but all is absolutely fine, can't explain a reason for spotting, can't wait for next scan to find out what beautiful baby is!! Newly-wed (well 6 months now - 1st August 09) and very excited about having a baby!

Still havent had a date for my 20 week scan, but I rang hospital and they assured me that it will arrive in the post!! Isn't it strange how different hospitals organise scans differentyly....

Anyway, hello to everyone else due in August 2010!!

pamplem0usse · 18/02/2010 22:21

Aussieng flash bathroom is such a good plan, I shall be adding that to my list..... now, cleaning the bath for me will surely make my hubby feel less useless?!!! x

Missus84 · 18/02/2010 23:03

Thanks aendr - I think they're probably not that bad, just on and off all the time and I'm not used to having headaches! Normally I'd just neck a couple of neurofen at the first sign of one. Might call my midwife and check if it gets any worse though.

girlsyearapart · 19/02/2010 07:59

morning all.
Had my 16 week check yesterday too.

All good and lovely to hear the heartbeat. Midwife guessed at it being a boy from the sound of the heartbeat we shall see come August.

Also said I won't be allowed to go overdue as dd2 weighed 9lb at 11 days early, dd1 8.5 lb born on due date so obviously breed big uns..

hi fireopal same due date.

girlsyearapart - I should have 2 boys and one transvestite (I have 3 girls) going by the heart beats...old wives tale.

mrsZaC · 19/02/2010 09:29

Morning ladies,

Hope your all doing well today, sorry to hear about your headaches missus I've been getting sort of 'hangover' headaches on and off, driving me banannas! I would just check with your midwife if they are worrying you.

RE: waterbirths, I'm such a waterbaby and I know it will soothe me. Considering an homebirth if I don't think I'll get my way. Hopefully the midwife will shed some light on Tuesday.

Well chuffed, went to M&P last night to take advantage of the 30% off. I was sooo pleased, got into size 10's for a start off which I was worried about because I feel as big as a house so chuffed to bits. Also picked up my £10 (+£5 off) bargain jeans ordered online and they are great!

I got.... jeans, top, long-sleved top, and this lovely parka all for £95 which I think is pretty good for so much stuff & I was sooo comfortable walking to work this morning

To top it all off aswell I made nachos with chilli, melted cheese & creme fraiche for dinner - YUM!

CherryPie3 · 19/02/2010 09:34

Good Morning my lovelies

Welcome newbies.

Just watches those births blueberries - can I have one like that please??

MW appointment went great, she said bp was a little high but not enough to worry about, also heard baby . I told her about the lack of definite baby movements and she said she thinks my placenta maybe anterior which would cushion the kicks - she also had a time of it trying to get the heartbeat but I don't know if thats to do with the placenta thing?? I've got to ask at the 20wk scan.

Went out for dinner last night with the kids and although food was lovely - the place wasn't exactly child friendly. Posh fancy things on the kids menu (nothing like the adult choices). dd and ds were not impressed but had a good go bless em!!!

Off to a chinese restaurant tonight for my nieces 21st birthday. Kids should fare better there considering they love chinese food!!

xxxxx

mrsZaC · 19/02/2010 09:45

glad your appointment went well cherry reassuring since you were worrying about not feeling baby moving.. I can't wait to feel little jelly bean moving around but think I'm a wee while off that yet .

what kind of 'fancy' food did they have on the kids menu, sounds a little odd.

cazzybabs · 19/02/2010 09:53

have just phoned up as had cs last time - so have to see a consultant midwife...its not till end of march, but am worried they will make me have another one as history of very high BP.....I sooo don't want another one

panic panic panic (no wonder I hve high BP)

My mum and dad have taken the bigger 2 to their swimming lessons so I am left at home with dd3 (well catch up on MN).

I am still feeling sick (not all the time and not being sick) - will it ever end?????

pamplem0usse · 19/02/2010 10:11

Lovely Parka mrsZaC I've had my eye on that... looks like they've only got it in a size 18 online at the moment though.... boo!

NichyNoo · 19/02/2010 10:17

Hi all

Welcome to the newbies and congrats on all the successful scans

I had my 16 week check-up this morning. All is well and heard the heartbeat again. Doctor found it immediately which was a relief. S/he is really low down but heartbeat was very strong 20 weeks scan in only 4 weeks time!!!

I've got a very slight tummy - really want to be bigger (weird I know) so that I can justify buying maternity clothes. Haven't bought any new clothes since November as I didn't know how long they would fit for. Really want some new stuff but am still a size 10...grrr...

Quick question for those who have already had babies. I was a massive baby (10 pounds 2) and DH was also 10 pounds. I am slightly concerned that I may also have a massive baby...do you know if this is more likely since we were both so big? I guess I should tell doctor at my 20 week scan but having scary thoughts of trying to squeeze some kind of giant baby out

mrsZaC · 19/02/2010 10:17

rubbish pample! I had my eye on it too, so snapped it up when it was reduced! do you not have a store near you? I love it, wore it this morning, sooooo cozy and the fleecy lining comes out so I can use in summer - hurray!
