About being contacted right away if there is something wrong with your bloods... I wish that had been true for me!

I'm still a little pissed off that SIX weeks after my blood was taken the M/W tells me that there is a problem with my immunity to rubella and mumps- and strongly advises me to avoid babies and toddlers and sick people on the tube.

(!!!!)

Had I known this, I might not have volunteered to babysit multiple times in my church creche!

I have shared care, so maybe other folks have better continutity and communication with their M/Ws.

Cha Cha- I had the back thing too. Was Sacro-Iliac joint pain, and it went away when I changed sleeping positions. (But I got a referal to see a obstetric physio, and that helped too.)

Hi all,

quiet day today I see,

So you make it 8 boys and 3 girls Beks??

Girls - Me (probably), Tex and Cads
Boys - Bamik, Hamster, Jenjam, Kristina, Alfiesmum (probably), Chacha and BOB. Who have I missed out???

Chacha, I would agree with SarahSaus, the mw will ring if there's a prob, otherwise she'll fill them in at next visit. Ring the surgery though if you're worrying

Kristina, being delivered at 37 weeks as this is my 4th (and final!) section. Had Joe at 37 weeks and he was 6lb 12 so hopefully this one will be the same!

Went to the summer fair at dd's old nursery today, it's still really hot isn't it! Children are still playing in paddling pool, dp's playing swingball (on his own!) and I've come in for a cool down!

So was anyone out at midnight buying Harry Potter?!! I wasn't, but will get it at Asda tomorrow if they've not sold out already!

HK and Diddle, lovely to see you two here! Diddle - Fingers crossed for you lovey

Have a lovely evening everyone,

speak to you all tomorrow x x x x x x

Evening girls, Rodeo, you're right it's 7 boys I can't count, see what would we do without you!

Had a bit of a mini disaster today as I had to take my dad to hospital as Ben hit him in the eye with a tennis ball earlier in the week, he threw it and it bounced off of the door frame and hit dad square in the eye, dad said it was fine but we got him to go to the opticians today as they are going back to Spain on Monday and they sent him to the hospital possibly for laser treatment as it had made the eye bleed internally - needless to say I'm feeling rather guilty as Ben has a very hefty throw for a 3 year old!!!

Got a quiet night in tonight as dh went to the pub at 4pm to celebrate his mates 30th, hate to think what state he'll be in when he eventually rolls in.

Think I will watch a film but can't make up my mind whether to watch Inside I'm dancing, The Manchurian Candidate or Vera Drake any reviews?

Well hope you are all well and enjoying the weather, speak to you all tomorrow. Beks 22+6

ChaCha · 16/07/2005 21:41

Hiya Beks,
Sorry to hear about your dad, you've got one little Arnie on your hands eh? Hope he's okay.
I'm going to watch the Manchurian Candidate tonight, DH has orders for that and a take out, I watched Hostage this morning with Bruce Willis and thought that was pretty cool. Another film i'd recommend is Man on Fire (Denzel Washington)...Have a good night whatever you watch

Rodeo - Nice to see you..isn't it nice to be missed?

Hoping i'll keep our meal down, have been sick all day, baby is v.active and my stomach just feels so heavy i want to lie down all the time. Thanks for listening, hate to bore my friends and DH can only do so much...bless him.
Night all xxx

KristinaM · 16/07/2005 22:11

cahcha - you mean you feel sick again or you have actually been vomiting all day? Are you OK?

ChaCha · 17/07/2005 08:44

Morning Kristina,
No, actually sick again. Didn't eat my take out and went straight to bed (again), my bump is definitely growing upwards - it must be something to do with the growth. This morning have been a little sick (liquid only) and have had 2 nosebleeds, is it only me still going through this?

BEKsmum · 17/07/2005 10:27

Morning girls, Chacha sorry to hear your still being sick. Have you mentioned it to your mw? They might be able to give you something to help keep food down as it must really be tiring you out to keep being sick, wouldn't have thought there was anything to worry about but it may be worth getting it checked out anyway, just in case you have tummy bug or something.

By the way I watched the Manchurian Cnadidate last night - what did you think of it? I thought it was ok but wouldn't feel the need to watch it again!

Have just ordered some clothes for Ben from Verbaudet and a fold up travelling cot that folds down to a changing bag size, thought this would be useful if we do manage to get out to Spain for New Year as a cot would swamp a 6 week old!

Hope you're all having a good day, Ben & dh are sitting downstairs watching Polar Express so I've got an hours peace & quiet. Speak to you all later. Beks 23wks

ChaCha · 17/07/2005 13:01

Hiya Beks,
Thanks for asking. Still have my anti-sickness tablets but really don't want to take any medication, the steroids were enough IMHO and so hopefully i'll just have to have a bit of a moan when necessary. Am feeling a little better now, drinking a lot and managing to keep it down. I slept half way through the film last night but watched it again this morning, likewise Beks, I'd like to watch it again - it was a real 'thinking cap' film for me but i enjoyed it..some very interesting concepts. Take it your DH arrived home safely then Hope you all have a lovely day!

KristinaM · 17/07/2005 17:01

chacha - glad you are feeling a bit better. Like beks I was worried that you had a tummy bug and were just putting it down to MS.

I know what you mean about the bump growing upwards - I think I have a pretty big bump for my dates but can still wear my normal jeans as they fasten underneath. Tho I havent looked in a mirror to see what my ...ahem....rear view looks like. Ignorance is bliss.

I am actually feeling pretty well now. All the nausea has gone and that complete exhaustion...now just the normal amount of tiredness IYSWIM. Hoping this stage lasts well into the third trimester as i feel I've got nothing down for months. Its been all I can do to keep up with the day to day routine of house and kids. Like some of you I'm on leave now...dont miss work a bit

babyonboard · 17/07/2005 17:33

hi everyone..loving this beautiful weather now I have my methods of cooling down (walking round in pants when flatmate is safely out of the house and spraying myself with water..he he)
glad most of you are feeling great now..and feeling just as huge as me..hard to believe theres another 18 weeks worth of growth to go!
i was reduced to (happy)tears today when my brothers 16 year old best friend sent me a lovely gift. she has been getting into buddishm and has given me presentation box with a pendant of a chinese goddess in it. there is also a lovely letter explaining the meaning and beliefs in this goddess, and how she can bring me and my baby luck...so nice..i'm not the religious type, but this will be a lovely thing to treasure and for the baby to see when he is older- as one of his first, and probably most unusual gifts
we seem to be mostly having boys! though i gues sthere are those with the patience to wait for the surprise..and i'm guessing some haven't had their scans yet?
take care everyone..and enjoy the sun..

novadandypowder · 17/07/2005 19:26

evenin' all

rodeo - i wasn't out at midnight but i had ordered Harry Potter from Amazon and it was on my doormat when i got up on saturday so it must have been delivered very early. I'm saving it for our holiday which starts on wednesday - yay!

chacha - i'm still being sick in the mornings, but have so far managed to keep down anything eaten after that. I'm a bit nervous about the holiday actually and hoping the change in routine/ heat/ food doesn't upset my system again.

well, it's been a lovely weekend, went shopping with DH yesterday and wore a new top from Isabella Oliver. I got sooo many comments about it, i advise you all to buy something straight away. Made me feel like a goddess in my hour of bumpness. this is what i was wearing. Then had a BBQ in the evening with a couple of friends where I allowed myself half a glass of champagne

rodeo1 · 17/07/2005 22:24

Ooh nice top Nova! Which colour did you get it in? What did you wear on your bottom half? Bought HP this morning, well bought 2, one copy for my sis, but my mum already bought it for her yesterday! Now I have 2 copies. Tried to palm it off onto step-sister, but she's got one too!! Dp has been reading it this afternoon in the sun, he's 70 pages in already!

It's been soooo hot again! Been in the shelter in the garden, children have been in paddling pool. The sun must have been really hot and strong as children both had factor 45 slapped on and Bella still managed to turn her shoulders pink.

Joe looks like a surf dude, he's got his dad's golden skin, but my sandy blonde hair, a proper beach babe. I told him he was a beach babe earlier and he replied 'I'm not a baby I'm a big boy'. He also says the baby's 'not a girl, it's a baby'

Oh Beks, your poor dad! Sound terrible, hope it's better soon. Reminds me of when my sis, probably about 7 at the time, jumped up while my dad was bending over and knocked his 2 front teeth loose, which needed to be replaced with 2 crowns! Also my friend's dh needed 900 pounds worth of dental treatment to his front teeth recently as he trapped his head in the electric window of his car!! Friend wasn't happy but I pmsl!!

Got tent out today as we're going camping next weekend in Robin Hood's Bay on the Yorkshire coast. Got given it last year by my mum's partner he'd only used it twice and it cost him a packet, a lovely 6 berth one with a big porch. Smelled a bit fishy though (I think it may have been the squashed slugs packed away with it last year) but it's all fresh and aired now!

Chacha, how are you feeling now?? It is nice to be missed but with this rambling post I think I've more than made up for it! Have you thought of any boy's names yet? If our 'girl' turns out to have boy's bits then he'll be called Sonny. Dp chose it last year on our last holiday and wrote 'Bella, Joe + Sonny' in the sand, then took a picture of it so I found it when the photo's had been developed. Aw - daft s*d

BOB - nice pressie! Lovely to hear of nice teens. There was a lad on the news the other day who jumped in a canal to save an old lady from drowning. Hope my ds would do that when he's that age. Not that you come across many old ladies in canals - good job too

Right really must go now I've written my memoirs, I have a mountain of clothes on my bed to put away before bedtime. Lovely...

Speak to you all tomorrow

24+4 x x x

Good morning all,

Haven't been on for a while again-suprise suprise. Sooo busy ATM.

Ds has had gastro-enteritus for the past 8 days, unfortunately both me and dp have had it over the weekend. Not a good way to spend this lovely weather! Still, back to work this morning...joy...only 4 weeks left though!! I'm like a child waiting for xmas!

So how have you all been? I hope the weather hasn't made anyone too miserable. It's not too good at night is it?
We have a ceiling fan in our room, but the continual buzzing that comes from it drives me insane!

Rodeo-have also been thinking of names lately. Though it seems evrything I like dp hates and vice-versa. Love the name Sonny, but we've chosen Ray (my late Gramps name) as a middle name, so not a good choice I'm thinking...Sonny Ray?! LOL
Also like (well...agree on...)Joesph, Elliot, Thomas, and Joshua. But I think I would prefer something a little different from the norm, any ideas wouldn't go a miss!

Nova- love that top! If I hadn't bought so many clothes already I think I might well have purchased that too! It's lovely

Chacha-hope you're feeling better, I'm still being sick. I find it's mostly when I'm tired, esp at work in the early mornings. Have been given some anti-sickness tablets by the doc. They melt in your mouth, but also make me really drowsy. What sort have you been put on?

Have chosen the new paint for ds' room. New baby is having the nursery. It's going to be very traditional, baby blues, cars, trains etc. He's got a thing for postman Pat at the mo, don't know how long that'll last though.
Has anyone else started decorating?

I'll stop yacking on now, go and get on with my mountain of ironing(hasn't been done for over a week...great }

Catch you all later
xxx

novadandypowder · 18/07/2005 12:00

rodeo - i got the white one and wore it with a pair of sandy (DH calls it beige) 3/4 length combat style trousers. They're the only pre-pregnancy thing i can still fit into, although i do have to undo the top button for maximum comfort.

hamster - i've started decorating although it's going very slowly. We need to replace the roof window before i paint as it's leaking, but the builder was supposed to get back to us with a quote 2 weeks ago and no word yet. Really fed up with trying to get decent builders, we don't want to use the company (Cramb & Dean) that have just finished a lot of work on the house again as they were supposed to have finished in January . Anyone know of a decent roof window fitter who can do West London?

Tania2 · 18/07/2005 13:28

Hi to ChaCha and tex111, not sure if you girls remember me from ttc threads but i just wanted to pop in and see how all my ttc buddies are going. So glad to see you gals are still here and doing so well.
Iam now 21+1 weeks pg with a GIRL after having to do IVF and due on the 27th Nov the day after DS 3rd birthday.
Anyway just popping in to say hi and i will try to pop in more often. (Incase you dont remember time difference is a prob for me cause iam in Australia so i found it hard to stay intouch with out staying up all night.)
Take care girls and sorry if i have missed anyone from my ttc days that maybe on this thread.

ChaCha · 18/07/2005 13:36

Tania2 - It's great to hear from you
Congratulations on the wonderful news! We are both due on the same date, I am expecting a boy...it would be good if you could post on here every so often, would love to catch up!!!
Hugs and best wishes xxxxxx

BEKsmum · 18/07/2005 14:16

Afternoon girls,

Thanks for the good wishes for my dad, he went to the hospital this morning but hasn't been heard from since - lets hope he's just sitting in the waiting room! Rodeo, lol at your mate, how can you get you head stuck in your own electric windows!!!

Had a fab morning as Ben had his first ever sports day, the kids were all fantastic and Ben did really well, yet another proud parent moment, I just love being a mum.

I loved the top Nova, very smart, I'm going to a christening on Sunday and have no idea what I am going to wear, luckily it's a good friends child so i'm sure she'll let me off if I don't look tip top!

Hamster hope you're feeling better soon.

Bob what a lovely present and how thoughtful.

Right best go as really should be doing some tidying up as this is Ben's last session at pre-school this afternoon, so I'll have him hanging round my ankles for the next 6 weeks, speak to you all later Beks 23+1

babyonboard · 18/07/2005 16:59

hi everyone..
nova - what i gorgeous top!
i must say i am jealous i can't afford to buy such lovely things..i'm sticking to asda maternity stuff my mum bought me, and then being creative with things i already have, and making stuff too..
beks mum - hope your dad is fine..i'm sure he will be, and no need to feel guilty, these little treasures can really unleash pain without meaning it..he he
sadly i have had crippling pelvic pains ..really not nice..its hard to even walk to the toilet..hoping its a brief spell and will go away, but my midwife is due any minute just to check me over. has anyone else had this?

CADS · 18/07/2005 19:05

Evening ladies,

Can't believe it's monday again, time really does fly. I am glad the weather has changed finally, the heat was making me feel really uncomfortable. Feel like a big fat cow.

DS made my heart stop for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. He fell down the stairs all the way from the top. He went head over heels, bouncing on the way. I thought he was going to break his neck, but thankfully he is fine. Just a couple of grazes on his forehead and eyebrow. He is back to mischief and the experience hasn't made him scared of the stairs. Unfortunately, dh now thinks I am the worst mother in the world and stopped talking to me for a few hrs.

Diddle and Hellkat - Nice to see you on here. Hope you are both well.

Beks - As everyone said, hope your dad is ok.

Rodeo - Glad you have decided to stay with us.

Chacha - How you feeling?

BOB- Hope your midwife can give you some good tips to help with the pain. I haven't had it before but i know a few of the others have and will be able to give you advice. Hope it goes away and isn't going to bug you for the rest of the pregnancy.

Have to go put ds to bed.
Will be back later.
23+2

BEKsmum · 18/07/2005 20:50

Evening girls, have left dh cleaning up a scalectix track that I bought for Ben/dh today, so thought I'd come on here for a chat.

Bob, know exactly what you are talking about, I can only be on my feet for about 10 minutes before it starts and by the end of the day I've had it & it seems to get worse lying in bed - very irritating. Hope your pain eases off quickly.

Blimey Cads you're really going through it at the moment aren't you! Tell your dh to get knotted, accidents just happen, i'm sure you've already beat yourself up enough without his help! Oherwise if he keeps making you feel bad we'll nominate you for the ITV programme Mums on Strike then you can see how he copes for 3 days on his own!

My dad has got to go back to the hospital on Thursday, the bleeding has stopped but they just want to make sure that the retina doesn't detach so mum & dad will be staying until the end of the week, which is a pain for them but a real bonus for us. Mum might even be able to come to the scan with us on Thursday now which will be really cool.

Right better go and do some of my ironing mountain as it's cooler this evening hope you are all well, speak to you tomorrow Beks

tessasmum · 19/07/2005 07:36

Morning everyone!
Had a busy w/e so haven't been on for a bit though things seem to have quietened down since last week - was expecting to take 30 mins to catch up

Love the top Nova, its brillliant to see something that actually flatters and flaunts the bump. Most maternity stuff seems to go on the principle of tent construction in order to cover everything up. I did go for that approach last time, although I was pg throughout the winter, but this time I'm damn proud of my bump and determined to flaunt it! I know I don't plan to do this pg thing again (the thought of going straight from bf to the menopause doesn't appeal)

OK, dd awake, will come back later.

24 weeks

novadandypowder · 19/07/2005 11:24

today is going to be a strange mixture of emotions. because i have to take my cats to the cattery and it makes me want to cry any time i leave them, and because this time tomorrow we'll be sunning ourselves in Mallorca. Actually, better make that - laying in an air conditioned room because it's so damned hot in Mallorca.

I dread to think how long it's going to take me to get through this thread in 10 days time.

CADS · 19/07/2005 11:42

Nova - I know exactly how you feel, I use to cry everytime we dropped ours off and even use to ring from aboard to check that they were ok. Picking them up was always the first thing we did when we got back. I'm sure they will be fine enjoy your holiday. By the way, nice top wish I could wear tops like that but they don't look too hot on a mommy hippo like me. Have fantastic time.

hamster · 19/07/2005 11:51

Morning,

Just a quick one, am on my way out shortly.
Ds is finally better, all bodily functions are back to their normal selves at last!

Nova, hope you have a great time!

Have tried to make my 24 week appointment, but they can't fit me in until next week-I'll be 26 weeks then....grrrr. There's never any doctors or midwives free here when you want them.

All is still going well though, a bit tired still, sickness has stopped too(I hope I haven't spoken too soon!)I'm just finding that I look 8 months pg already! So big. I still haven't got the guts to do the loo roll test, as I'm afraid it'll be half a roll!lol

CADS, hope your little one is ok. I absolutely dread the day ds falls down the stairs. And I know it will happen...it happens to all kids.

I'll be off then, have a pleasant day all, catch you later
xx
