well done

Hey Hamster - you sound just like me - size 8 before DS1 born last year, then size 12-14. Then I got thyroid disease so couldn't lose any weight at all. Then I got pregnant - surprise surprise! I was scared to do the TP test as I was sure I would be HUGE compared to everyone else ( especially all you teenagers). Then when I finally plucked up the courage I was only 7-8, which seems about average. Don't you think its really interesting that we are all about the same size - even tho some of us were pretty skinny pre preg and others...... ahem...not so skinny??? And we range from teenagers to 30s and 40s??

I think this just goes to show that we are all looking after ourselves really well and eating reasonably healthily and not pigging out too much. Collective pat on the back girls . Just think - that means that our little babies are all developing just as they are meant to

I found this all very encouraging as someone asked me at the weeked if I was due in AUGUST!!!! I know he was only a man but he does have 5 kids......

I also have a detailed scan on Thursday. Im really excited & so is my DH - last time it was just awesome to see the baby in so much detail

CADS · 12/07/2005 20:53

Hi Everyone,

Have finally managed to catch up on all the messages but am fast forgetting everyones news already.

Got back on thursday and have be trying to get back into the swing of things like housework, ironing etc.

Nothing exciting to report really. Pregnancy progressing as expected. Feeling pretty miserable with the heat and have nothing to wear. Feeling very fat and like a hippo. Have decide to put off the loo roll test as have managed to pile on 2 stones to date (god only know how ) not looking forward to what my final weight will be.

DS (16.5mnths) is doing well after all the drama in SA (thanks for asking Rodeo and Beks) but has managed to turn into a little demon since we got back (must look for that 666 birth mark). I'm suddenly wondering what the hell I'm getting myself into having a 2nd soo soon. Keep repeating "it is only a phase" to myself every few secs, but not totally convinced.

Also, having my scan on Thursday and can't make up my mind whether to find out the sex. It is all DH fault, he now wants to know where before we were both adamant that we definitely didn't want top know the sex. I like surprises and am worried that if I find out it will be an anticlimax afterwards. Had 2 scans in SA and baby had his/her legs closed both times, hope it is the same this time.

Noticed alot of you are being very organised re names, travel systems, nurseries, etc. Haven't given any of it any thought at this stage. I'm one of these people who tend to leave things to the last minute and works well under pressure.

Dinner has arrived so I will shut up for now.

babyonboard · 12/07/2005 21:05

oooh..so glad a couple of you have a scan on thursday too...we can compare notes afterwards! he hee
we definitly want to know the sex..I'm too impatiant, and it might spur us on to pick at least one boys name we like..we have several for a girl, but i just can't think for a boy apart from 'alexander' but i have two cousins, an uncle and several friends called alex, so we want something a bit different.
i planned to keep the sex between us too, so everyone else would get a surprise at the birth, but i know i will tell my mum, and soon after everyone in my address book, so may aswell just accept that everyone will know.
hows everyone dealing with the heat?it's so hot and humid here, and as most of our rooms are attic rooms the heat is just trapped in here..not fun! I'm taking it as my cue to do as little as possible and not feel guilty..mwuhahahaha

ChaCha · 12/07/2005 21:34

Nice one Rodeo...
Hiya Cads, welcome back! Glad all is well with you, DS and bump.

The paddling pool was a great idea, by the time we farted around with it the sun was on its way out so will have to wait till tomorrow now but if weather is anything like today will be glad to be in there. Have put it under the gazebo for a bit of privacy..it is also quite big considering, enough room for us both to stretch out. Anyone else or just me and my DH that are big kids?

Am exhausted now. Speak to you all tomorrow..

OH, TEX!!! My friend from Houston had that craving for Coolade..coolaid..don't know how it's spelt i was trying to remember it....ring bells?

rodeo1 · 12/07/2005 21:42

Thought you all should see this if you haven't already recieved it. I think it's a really good idea, copy it and pass it on to friends and rellies

Hello all,
haven't posted for ages! my mum is really unwell and it has kind of taken the excitement off this pregnancy

On a brighter note my 20 week scan went well, we didn't want to find out the sex of baby but asked the lady to write it on a piece of paper and fold it up. The main reason for this is that I don't know if my mum will make it till November, but after staring at the paper for hours that evening I couldn't help but open it!

It said we are having a boy!

I went to see a consultant at the hospital today as I have lupus (blood disorder) and he also did a quick scan to check the baby. I told him it was a boy and at first he said yes there is the scrotal sac, then said "oh they told you it was a boy did they", and he couldn't be certain! so now I don't know.
Will hopefully find out on Thursday when I am going for another scan! but this time its an internal one to check for the risk of premature labour, pre-eclampsia etc.

Good luck to everyone else that is having a scan on thursday, sounds like there are quite a few!

Someone mentioned ages ago that they were moving to Essex (enthusia I think), I live about 20 minutes from chelmsford so not too far away.

Also hello to all the new people, I will try and make an effort to post more often in future!

Love J

Hello all, had to disappear off for dinner!

Welcome back cads!! I'm just like you - a last minute girl (although this lot are all preety organised aren't they! ) We hadn't fully decided until the last min if we where going to find out bump flavour! (we did BTW - bub's in arkward position but looked pink)

So what have we got so far??? Kristina you're blue aren't you, with Bamik, Hamster and Jenjam. Me (probably?) and Tex are pink. Is that right? Correct me if I'm wrong!!

I'm still 8 sheets although someone did tell me last night 'you're huge!!' and 'are you having twins?' and then 'well you must be carrying a lot of water then' . Yes it was a man, stupid aehole. I did tell him to F* OFF though.

I'm also getting quite a few 'god, how many have you got now?!' always from men BTW. What is they're problem?? Yes this will be my 3rd child, I'm not a freak! (a little mad maybe ) Tossers...

Anyway.... hope everyone is well, I'm in an irratable mood, can you tell?! Hate all men at the mo (apart from dp and dfather), and if one of them tries to touch the bump I will stab them.

My famous MW is coming round tomorrow for a home visit, so looking forward to that!

Speak to you all tomorrow, Bubs be 'viable' tomorrow - 24 weeks in 2 hours!!

Love to all x x x

Alfiesmum - so sorry to hear about your mum. We lost a close family member recently and I feel so sad that he will never meet the new baby . A friend has lupus and she said she never felt better than during her two pregnancies so fingers crossed for you

Rodeo - I see that your pregnancy hormones are raging....LOL!!

Cads - I am HORRIFIED that you are even thinking about ironing, especailly in this heat. ARE YOU MAD??? Thats is what Dps are for. Get a grip and put your feet up on the sofa right now. As I recall this is NOT the first time I've had to speak to you about this [stern emoticon]

firstbabyandnervous · 13/07/2005 09:28

Hi all!Havent posted for a little while as dp got a call from work the other day to say he's been posted to Kosovo next Monday for 3 or 4 months so everythings been a bit up in the air.Hoping he will be back before the birth.

Hope all scans go well for everyone that has one coming up.

Went to see the mw yesterday and had a heartbeat scan.Baby is fine loads of kicking around but it was great to hear it.

BEKsmum · 13/07/2005 10:49

Well done Rodeo, what would we do with out you! Also what a good idea, very simple but also very effective.

Ahhh a girl, did you already say this and I missed it - fab news, congrats, I take it you won't be calling her Fizz!

That's one advantage of being fat, people don't touch your bump 'cos they're not sure if you're actually pregnant! I was once asked when the baby was due (by a man of course) and I said "sorry mate I'm not pregnant I'm just fat" - one very red faced bloke!!!

Welcome back Cads, glad your ds is so much better don't worry though he is only playing you up 'cos he got so much attention on holiday, it will wear off when he gets used to it just being the two of you all the time and three when daddy's about. Ben was really annoying when we came back from Spain & I'll have it again next week when nanny & grandad go back again - oh the joys!

Alfiesmum, sorry to hear about your mum, make sure you look after yourself too though and let us know if we can do anything for you.
How lovely that it's 'probably' a boy (talk about leave you hanging), I couldn't have not looked at the paper either it would have been burning a hole in my hand.

Firstbaby, what a nightmare, will he be allowed specail leave if he's not back in time or is it case of having to do his full posting and then coming back?

Right better go, will speak to you all later, hello to anyone I haven't spoken to for a while, hope everyones bump is doing well and that the weather isn't driving anyone too crazy Beks 22+3

Busyalexsmummy · 13/07/2005 11:33

Iklboo · 13/07/2005 16:08

Hi all. Sorry to hear about your mum Alfiesmum. Hope she gets better soon.
This heat is wearing me out. Lat night got 2 hot water bottles from Boots (and some very funny looks), filled them with cold water and put them in the fridge for a bit. Half hour before going to bed, took them upstairs and popped them in top pillowcase.
Lovely cool pillows and then put hot(cold) water bottle behind my neck/shoulders while I dropped off to sleep.

Enthusia · 13/07/2005 16:32

Alfiesmum - sorry to hear about your Mum, hope everything is ok.

Yes it was me who is moving to Essex. We are thinking Colchester, somewhere close to the centre so I can walk in. I just hope we will be able to move before the birth!!!!

Firstbaby - what does your DH do, is he in the forces?

Iklboo - great idea about cold water bottles, I am using a face masky thing that I leave in the freezer, but it is much smaller!!!

sarahsausage · 13/07/2005 16:41

Heat is doing me in also, not nice at all! Must have only got to sleep at 3am this morning when the room felt as though it had cooled down.

Not too bad inside today.

Just realised student midwife worked it out wrong am actually 20+1 today (i think) and already 10 sheets of andrex, gone up nearly a full sheet in about 3 days Although throughout the last 20 weeks have only put on 7lbs or so, last time had put on a stone and a bit by this stage.

Little bit that some of you are "obviously" pregnant, wish i was slimmer so i could see my bump, still looks like random fat from when i was pg with dd

bamik · 13/07/2005 17:48

Hot and sweaty! Can't take this heat.

21 + 4, everyone says Oh you look great! Well thanks cuz I actually think I look more like an elephant. At least they have smaller boobs - LOL!

Make sure you drink lots ladies.

Bami xxx

babyonboard · 13/07/2005 17:51

Hi everone..yes the heat is awful..i have been freezing bottled water then taking out a few botles at different times and sipping them as they melt..so good!
spent most of today stressing about financial and other life issues, but have decided to just stop that, make myself a huge smoothie and relax..
didn't do a thing around the house again, but we have an excuse after all!
cannot wait until the scan tomorrow, which fortunately is in the evening so dp can come along..good luck to all the ladies having one too..look forward to the news!

novadandypowder · 13/07/2005 18:17

well, well i'm away from my PC for less than 48 hours and there's a new thread and loads of posts!

I've had a very constructive couple of days. Yesterday I made the curtains for the nursery - very lovely, even if I do say so myself. Today I had my induction training at the local animal home so I can now volunteer for them, I start on monday. Feel quite chuffed.

Bob - my DH is going to be the only one at the birth. Most of my close friends don't live in London, and I kinda want it to be a special time between DH and me.

Am I the only one who doesn't know the flavour of her baby? The hospital did offer to write it down for me too in case i changed my mind about finding out, but i knew that i'd never be able to resist so declined. Makes it more exciting..

So many scans tomorrow. My next mw appointment is friday so at least i get to hear the heartbeat. Baby made me laugh a couple of nights ago, i was laying on my side in bed and it must have slid down and starting kicking my tickly spots. Being tickled from the inside is a very funny feeling.

babyonboard · 13/07/2005 18:26

oh nova...not fair! i so wish we had a nursery, with all this time on my hands it would be lovely to be making things for the arrival..
i really want it to be just me and dp, as i'm sure it will be an amazing thing to share, but don't trust him to not wuss out and leave me with the medical staff!
maybe i should trust him a bit more, and when it comes to it he won't be able to tear himself away

novadandypowder · 13/07/2005 18:30

I'm think I'm happy about only having DH because I know i've got a midwife dedicated to me during the whole of labour, and having met most of the team they are all very lovely. I'm also very happy about the hospital we've chosen.
