Nova - I too do not know the flavour and do not want to. My scanning lady didn't even mention finding it out. My DH is also going to be the only one there, apart from medical staff. He is one of those people who can just turn off when it comes to blood, gore, puke etc, so I am quite pleased. Although he does get rather weird when watching Desperate Midwives.

ChaCha · 13/07/2005 19:13

Hopefully i'll get to find out whether peanut is a boy or girl tomorrow, if not, am quite happy to wait.

Am having a sick day again. Started at lunchtime and won't go .. Thankfully no more cravings for coke (has been over a week now) but have had it for curry instead!!!! How odd.

Chat soon x

Evening girls, another scorching day here, but thankfully my friends have been running around after ds for me, so not feeling too bad.

Nova I'm not finding out bumps flavour either, we've got to have some reward for all that hard work!

Good luck to all those with scans tomorrow, hope you get good views of all the important bits! I'm very 'cos I don't get my scan till next Thursday when I'll be 23 weeks, think I'm the last one to see baby as they do things later here if you've had a nuchal scan.

My dh will be at the birth but I'm hoping my mum will be able to be there with me too like she was last time, 'cos she was excellent with me, dh was great too, but so laid back that I could have killed him, he even managed to keep falling asleep!

Hoep you all manage to get a good nights sleep, speak to you tomorrow. Beks

tessasmum · 13/07/2005 19:51

Scorcher here too!

Not sure if its the heat but baby has been on the go non-stop today, all very low down, poking the bladder-type movements. Not sure who has been to the toilet more today, Tessa who is only 3 weeks into potty training or me

Firstbaby - have you got much support close by whilst your DP is away? I spent up until 7 months last time mainly on my own as DP was working in Sweden. Luckily he did get home every other w/e (though knackered after long week and 5-6 hour journey!) My family is all over the UK and Ireland and I didn't know anyone else who was pregnant so felt quite out on a limb. REALLY wish I'd found MN then! Use us when you need us, as you can see there are loads of us to support you now.

tessasmum · 13/07/2005 19:55

I also one of the ones who don't want to know whether we have a pink or blue one in there. Felt very strongly last time that the baby was a girl (and she was!). This time I'm not sure at all, a lot of things feel the same but I really don't know. I like surprises so I'm prepared to wait

vicdubya · 13/07/2005 20:45

Hi all

I am selling some lovely maternity stuff on the for sale boards if anyone is interested?!

twinkle1 · 13/07/2005 20:56

Evening all, another sticky day! Should be cooling down tomorrow!

Saw famous mw today, all's well with me and bump, had a giggle about her being a 'desparate midwife' and her papparazzi following! BP 100/60 (it was a home visit!) heard HB (and a mobile phone?!) fundal height was 25. She reiterated that deliver would be no later than 37 weeks which gives me a delivery date of 12 Oct. I won't be a Nov girl - do I have to change threads?

Like the cold water bottle idea Iklboo, and the frozen bottled water idea BOB! I've been crunching on ice myself!

Beks, sonographer said it 'looked like a girl' but legs were clamped shut so she couldn't be definite. Will probably ask again at growth scan, but my mother's coming and I've told her I didn't ask(!) so I'll have to do it covertly!! I'm enjoying knowing, it feels 'calm', thugh I'm not one for surprises, they make me feel anxious for some reason!? It feels nice calling bubs a 'her/she' too, but can totally understand wanting to wait, I did wait with last 2, but couldn't cope with not knowing with ds towards the end!! What a waffle - sorry

Nova, well done on your induction what animals do they home there? I'm horse mad and have really missed them, will be back in the saddle by Christmas!

Good luck with all the scans tomorrow, Chacha, Cads, Kristina, Babyonboard, Alfiesmum....wow that is a lot!! My best friend Jenny has her anomoly scan tomorrow too!

Love to all

24 weeks today!! x x x

rodeo1...are there reasond for delivery being early?
sory if i've missed something, but i'm new to this so might not have seen it when scanning thorugh the archives..he he

KristinaM · 13/07/2005 22:04

Hey BoB glad to see that you are sober tonight and not rolling in the gutter drunk out your mind. After that half glass of shandy you had at a wedding two weeks ago

babyonboard · 13/07/2005 22:06

hee hee...i'm still feeling it to be honest..hic hic..god i'll be a bad mum!

CADS · 13/07/2005 22:12

Can't keep up with all the posts! My little demon has finally gone off to sleep (2.5hrs past bedtime) not sure whether it is the heat or teething that was bugging him, just hope he stays asleep till morning!!

Beks - You are most probably right re ds demonic behaviour. He was extremely spoiled by my mom. She lets him get away with murder. Most of the time, I found myself telling off ds (for doing things he shouldn't) and my MOM (for letting ds do things he shouldn't). My mom is like a big child herself. It is amazing how one minute they have you wanting to hug and kiss them non stop and the next they turn into Dennis the menace and have you pulling your hair out.

Alfiesmum - Sorry to hear your mom isn't well, hope things get better and that she gets to meet your little chap (hope I haven't upset you).

Beks and sarahsausage - very of you guys only putting on 10 and 7lbs. You have most probably lost weight unlike me.

KristinaM - Will print out you message and show DH, not that it will make a difference. To be honest it is my job as a SAHM, and I might as well confess the cleaning only gets done every 10-14days.

firstbabyandnervous - Will keep everything crossed for you, and hope that your dp will be back for the birth.

Better get some sleep in before any nightwakings start.
X

KristinaM · 13/07/2005 22:14

Oh well at least it will give your children something to talk about in therapy
We have started saving £££ already for ours

CADS · 13/07/2005 22:16

Rodeo1 - Don't you dare change threads!! Who would keep us organised?? There would be absolute chaos without you!!

KristinaM · 13/07/2005 22:19

CADS - you are a stay at home MUM not a full time cleaner/housekeeper. You are caring for a demon toddler and growing a baby. Be good to yourself and tell Dh to iron his own shirts!!!!
On second thoughts....maybe don't print this bit out

Beks - you said you are fat but you cant possibly be if you are only 7-10 sheets. Coz we ALL ARE!!!! And we are slim gorgeous babes

Firstbaby - sorry to hear about the overseas posting - what a bummer!

CADS · 13/07/2005 22:38

KristinaM - Too late it has been printed and read

Busyalexsmummy · 13/07/2005 22:56

cads-sympathise, ds is also finding the heat hard bless him

rodeo-how come your fundal height is 25? are you more advanced than you thought or is it just one of those things? do they think the baby is large?

chacha-good luck with the scan tommorrow, let us know how it goes hun

nova-i dont know the sex of baby either, wanted to find out but had its legs crossed, initially was quite p*ssed off, but now quite happy i didnt and will be turning away when i go for my growth scans as i may as well wait the duration to find out now!

bamik-hiya bump buddy, hows it going?

cant beleive ive only put on about 6lbs so far, was huge by this time with ds and had put on over a stone! guess its all the running around after ds!
this heat is unbearable, have not left the house since sunday as been just wearing underwear in house as too hot for clothes, ventured out today-it nearly killed me and it was only up to local spar shop!
managed to get a bit of housework done this morning as has been too hot to move!
have been pouring pint glasses of ribena and putting about 3 in the top shelf of freezer, then taking out as and when i need them, have nearly eaten all ice polls i bought on sunday(with ds's help, hehe)
have not closed any of our windows in our house since saturday and slept naked on top of the covers last night with fan right next to me on full power-yukky muggy heat!
sorry this is a TMI Q but...has anyone else been getting really bad discharge? i dont remember getting it this bad with ds, i have to change pants about 2/3 times a day and trousers twice a day!!!

liz 21+4

CADS · 13/07/2005 23:06

Busyalexsmummy - 6lbs!!! By the way tried to join your msn group, got no idea how it works. How is your ds? Have you given any thought/started preparing him for the arrival of a little brother/sister? I posted a thread asking mnetters for some tips. If it makes you feel better I have the same feelings as you about this pregnancy and feel like bean is being completely neglected and ignored, especially with ds having been ill.

Busyalexsmummy · 13/07/2005 23:23

how old is your little one cads(sorry cr*p at remembering stuff like that)? im not sure how much he will understand, he will be 20 months when this ones due. we were going to get him a present"from" the new baby, but not sure what else to do??

had a funny moment earlier, had just eaten tea, and had belly out as i was so hot, and it looked like it was trying to escape, even dp looked over at it and laughed!

CADS · 14/07/2005 08:24

I think ds is 1 day older than yours (21st feb 04).

We are going to do the present thing too. Also, have decided get a baby doll and start teaching ds how to care and handle babies. Needless, to say dh is horrified and has been searching everywhere for an action man.

DS has turned into a real little boy lately and is forever running around bashing and banging anything in sight. I'm sure teaching him to be gentle won't do any harm especially as he is a big boy, I'm always worried that he will hurt other children in his excitment.

ChaCha · 14/07/2005 09:24

Morning all,

Rodeo - Your little one will join the world in October...awwwww!!! It's hard to believe that August is just round the corner, time is flying by IMHO! How is Bella (and is it Joe?) are they excited about the baby? Asking you loads of questions? Do they want a brother or sister?

It was really hot here last night, was tempted to skinny dip in the paddling pool but thought better of it, made do with the fan and woke up with a lovely runny nose!

Beks - I also might be giving TMI here but i change my u/w at least twice a day and am more conscious than ever of personal hygiene. I'm actually looking for a product that is safe to use as my book says not to use any soapy type products as it may upset balance in vaginal mucus!! Any ideas...

Busy - Saw your pics on msn group. Lovely!!! I have no recent pics of me that are any good so i am reluctant to post anything. I would like to though, it's good to put a face to names, will try to get some decent pics taken soon.

2 hours until my scan. I think i'll be there during the 2 minute silence which i really want to observe.. Hope it happens before i go in, there is usually a long wait anyway.

Right...off fat backside and load dishwasher pls, chat later x

tex111 · 14/07/2005 09:26

Hi guys. Wow! The thread really took off yesterday. Been trying to catch up.

Had our 23 week scan yesterday and it went really well. Cupcake is doing great and is much bigger than I expected. Tobes was off the charts at this stage and they changed my dates by three weeks, even though I had been charting temp, etc and knew exactly when I had fallen pregnant! Really hope they don't do that again this time. The good news is that I get another scan at 32 weeks to check Cupcake's size again. All organs, limbs, etc present and correct including her girly bits. Very glad to have the sex confirmed as I've been buying pink things for the last couple of months.

Also started antenatal yoga last night which was fantastic. I had sciatica, carpul tunnel and piles with Tobes and the yoga is supposed to help all of those symptoms. I also slept like a log last night. Best sleep I've had in months! Going to order a birthing ball today to sit on and keep my pelvis 'loose'. Do not want to get sciatica again. So uncomfortable.

My problem now is trying to decide on the birth. On one side I've got the docs saying another C-section is the best choice and on the other I've got the yoga group suggesting a home birth so I don't have another section! Don't know what I'm going to choose.

ChaCha, I know Kool-Aid well! I've got some packets in the cabinet my Mom sent over. It's dreadful stuff really, totally artificial, but when I'm pregnant I often crave the things I grew up with. I had more McDonalds's when I was pregnant with Tobes than I did in my whole adult life before then. Even joked about naming him Mac or Ronald!

Bob, I know what you mean about stressing over finances and stuff. DH was off work yesterday for the scan and we decided to have a nice breakfast out while Tobes was at playgroup. First time we've been out alone since January! Anyway, ended up talking about updating the wills and life insurance before Cupcake arrives and what I would do if DH died. Not the romantic morning I was hoping for.

OK, going to get some ice water. Can't bellieve how hot it is already. Gotta go visit a primary school today in Blackheath and I'm not looking forward to the drive in our car without AC.

Tex - 23 weeks 3 days

tex111 · 14/07/2005 09:33

BUsy, forgot to say I've got pretty heavy discharge too. I wear a panty liner constantly and change it a couple of times a day. Had to move up to the super-size liners recently as it seems to be increasing. I had the same thing with Tobes. Was really looking forward to nine months without tampons and pads and ended up wearing liners and pads for nine months straight and then moved on to the maternity pads about the same size as futon mattresses after the birth. Oh the joy of it all!

Busyalexsmummy · 14/07/2005 10:17

cads-also had the same idea about the doll thing, when we go to toddler group he is always pushing the little buggy around, so i want to get him a little buggy and doll even thought dp thinks im mad, i dont like genderisation(sp?) anyway and think both sexs should have ample oppotunity to play with anything they want, its how they learn right?
ds is also turning into such a little boy, hes so bashful and rough at the moment, but he can be so loving as well, he puts his head on my bump sometimes and says ahhh! bless!

ps glad im not the only one with the d/c problem!

BEKsmum · 14/07/2005 10:18

Morning girls, Tex glad the scan went so well & that all bits were present & correct! Which school are you going to look at for Toby?

Chacha good luck today, I think the TMI bit was meant for Busy, but I'm sure she'll have read it anyway & I'm with Tex the best thing is liners & I had to lol at her comment about the futon so true, are we putting you off yet?

Krisitina thanks for that, what I didn't mention was that I only measured the bump not the big fat belly below or the elephants bum & thighs below that - I would definitely need kitchen roll for those measurements

Rodeo, so have you packed your bags for your departure to the October thread then! Not really, don't you dare leave 'cos we'd be in chaos without you & we'd have the longest thread ever on MN and secondly we'd really irritate the October mums when we kept gatecrashing their thread everyday!
I've got to say October seems a lot closer than November when you think you've only got 3 months! You'll have to ask the sonographer to write the flavour on a piece of paper for you - I thought that was such a cool idea

Cads I've just put Ben in the bath and he called me back & said "mum can I have a kiss, thanks for putting up my paddling pool, I love you". How can I ever be cross with that! By the way our mums sound very similiar, I think mine should have been a presenter on kids tv, she would be a lot better than those on there now!

I'm with you guys on buying a present from the baby for Ben and when people have asked what I want for the baby I have asked them if they would mind buying something for Ben instead as I think it's horrible when visitors come in and look at the baby and practically ignore the older child or ask them how they feel about having a baby in the house or being a big brother or sister. So I'm hoping Ben will get more attention that way and won't feel so left out.

Right better go, speak to you all later, will pop back to see how the scan girls got on Beks 22+4
