shopping was fun Diege- got DD2 a pretty dress for her birthday from next, also got her a tinkerbell zipped jacket, tinkerbelle top and a peppa pig coat all for £20!! Bargain- gonna call it out of her bday money that i know has been sent from DH's grandparents. Other than that i was very very good and only spent money on food. MMM managed to get DD2 a beautiful elle dress for her, and a luverly pink dungaree set from next for her- can't wait to put her in them!! Just have to wait till sat till she gets em !!

Kayzr · 16/02/2010 19:48

I've just done 35 minutes on my Wii Fit. I am exhausted!! But I feel really good for it. I had better get on with exercising as I am hoping to do a triathlon in summer.

Diege · 16/02/2010 20:01

That does sound like a good shop CANT Glad you and MMM had fun
KAYZ, wow a triathlon, that sounds great! I wish I had your motivation - though the thought of ttc no.3 must spur you on
Fabric samples arrived today - am doing ds's rooms in a range called Chalk Farm from the Designer's Guild - blues and greens (really wish I could do links), dd3's room in Primose Hill range from the same place, and dds1 and 2 in very funky wallpaper called Eva from Brewers. Have found a great place that will make up curtains and things like bedspreads, throws etc from coordinating fabrics, so that will be my project for the next few months (funded I hasten to add from A-level marking money, so shouldn't moan.
Hope everyone is well - v.quiet on here!

maxxymoosmummy · 16/02/2010 20:20

well had a good day shopping with CANT, i wasnt so good, as got DS a really nice pair of jeans, and a jacket from next which he didnt really need., but i fell in love. managed to get nieces bday present so thats a bonus, also got DS some more plates, bowls and juice cups
DS is fast asleep without having any pancakes so going to make him some tomoro. he was very tired when got home and didnt really eat much of his tea,
my headache has came back
but cant wait for 'one born every minute' then shameless.

Rugbylovingmum · 16/02/2010 21:11

Hi all,

Diege - if you are still around I need a bit of advice (and reassurance) about this leaving C to cry lark. Last night C took ages to settle (about 1.5 hours) then she woke up about 6 times in the night - she just keeps spitting her dummy out then if she wakes up she won't go back to sleep without it, she will suck her thumb or fingers in the day but not at night. So tonight I felt it was time to get rid of the dummy. I put her to bed without it and tried to shush and pat her to sleep but she tried to suck on my fingers so I was just upsetting her so I left her to cry for 5 mins at first then for 10mins. It took her 45min in total to fall asleep but it felt like hours - poor wee mite is only 4.5 months so I hate leaving her but I need to get some sleep. Firstly should she learn to fall asleep faster and roughly how long does it take - days, weeks, months? Secondly what exactly should I do when I go in to reassure her, I tried giving her a pat and saying shush but she was grabbing at my hands and I'm not sure I didn't just unsettle her. Lastly would you take the dummy away during the day too? Thanks! Fabrics sound great btw - I look forward to seeing some pics nce yu are done. How is the marking going?

Kay - a triathalon, wow. Which one are you planning to do?

MMM and Cant - shopping trip sounds great.

Hi Tink and Cosmo.

Kayzr · 16/02/2010 21:20

I am planning on doing the shortest one possible!!! I might just do one alone rather than entering into one. Then I won't come last!!!

essenceofSES · 16/02/2010 21:39

Evening!

Megan has managed to chew through part of the sky cable outside. It wasn't working at all earlier but we have tv back now but no Sky+ so I've not been able to record One Born Every Minute as I wanted to watch BRIT awards too and DH preferred BRITS too.

Rugby - sorry I've no real advice but it sounds like you're doing all the right things. From what I know, I think it can take 2 or 3 nights for them to start to get the message but then after that it really improves. I know it's tough atm but it will be worth it in the long run.

Cant & MMM - great shopping

Cosmo - great to hear from you! Hope you have a healthy few months now.

Diege - all that decorating sounds exciting! Did you really take DDs into work?!

tink - it rained here nearly all day. V depressing! Roll on spring!

Kay - all sounds v energetic to me!

Fairly productive day here. Sorted out my work wardrobe. I do fit into some of my old suits and shirts Need to buy a black trouser suit though and maybe a couple more shirts.
Vacuumed upstairs and also sorted the airing cupboard and started packing away another load of O's clothes.
Swept and mopped floors in downstairs loo, porch, dining room and kitchen!

Starshinetiger · 16/02/2010 22:23

Evening All (am guessing everyone else has disappeared for the night). Am struggling to get on here at the moment and missing it! Still, am sat here working at the mo and thought I deserved some down time too.

Ses - I'm exhausted just reading all you've managed to get done today . Belated Happy Birthday to you. Sorry DH didn't get you a card. We have an agreement in our house, no cards for each other (mainly because DH doesn't do cards), then he went and got me a valentine's card - I felt mean, but we had agreed it. Now we've agreed just birthday cards and on no other occasions. Hope you enjoyed all the treats you had organised for yourself. I would prompt him re. mother's day card in advance. Last year I got one from DD even though she was in NICU (the nurses did them for all the babies Mums - and they were on shift, so no excuses re. work from DH I think! )

Rugby - the sleep deprivation of 4-6 months is the hardest I think. I have no tips for you as we're not there yet with DD and she was 11 months yesterday. With DS we started settling him in evening at about 8 weeks and used to sit there next to him holding first dummy and catching it as it fell out and then thumb and catching his arm as it fell (otherwise that would jolt him awake) and he was a pretty good sleeper from about 6 months, but then I did give up bfing at about 22 weeks with him He is such a good sleeper now, not sure we're going to get there with DD [sleep deprived emoticon - why isn't there one of those on here?!] From what I know of CC, 45 mins sounds about usual for first night. Also, I wouldn't expect a bf baby to sleep all night with no feeds, but could expect her to have a feed about 3.5-4 hours after going down and then do a ca. 6 hour stint maybe?

MMM - sorry for headaches. Now, I don't want to put scary thoughts out, but would rather say this than not - have you checked your gas if you have it in the flat. Just that your head always seems to be worst when you're in the flat/house, so would be worth checking there is no leak. Am sure it is dehydration or maybe eyes instead, but would hate to not say anything having thought it and then hear that there was a problem later.

Can't - yay for shopping - is DD2 nearly 1 already - where has the year gone?!

GBL - if you're lurking. Don't know if I said, but glad my thinking out loud helped and you have continued bfing.

Gruff - thinking of you and your Mum regularly. Hope she is doing well. Not long 'til you hear about your course I think? Yay for GC walking too - how exciting!

Cosmo - good to see you back on here. Sorry for poorlies, similar here - is rotten. Roll on nice weather as I'm sure this driek weather is just encouraging the bugs.

Diege & Tink - go girls on the shopping. You truly are shopping queens. I even find internet shopping too exhausting at the moment!

Kayz - triathalon sounds impressive. That's not just one sort of exercise, it's three - I bow down to you lady!

Sorry for anyone I've missed...

All struggling with some sort of cough/cold/not quite right tummy virus here. Is just not shifting. And as I can't bring myself to get tough on sleep with DD while she's ill, we're 11 months in and still no sleep through the night... Ah well, I am mostly just feeding once during the night, but last night she wouldn't settle back into her cot, so I brought her in with us and she settled herself and resettled during night too without feeding. Think she just likes sleeping in our bed . Do amaze myself that every night, I wonder - "ooh, maybe DD will sleep through tonight" - don't know where that unfounded optimism comes from!

Right, must finish work and go to bed. Sorry for extraordinarily long post

Kayzr · 16/02/2010 22:28

Star, if it helps at all DS2 slept through at 11 and a half months. We didn't change anything he just did it. So don't give up hope.

Diege · 16/02/2010 23:47

Hello! Just off to bed and haven't read through eve posts properly, but saw your post RUGBY. I think you're doing brilliantly and when I read your post I was thinking (before you said it) 'she should do that', then saw you did. Sooo, what I'm saying is you are text-book at the moment, which sounds very cold and clinical but you are Doing The Right Thing. In terms of how long it took, 10 days has been the longest any of mine took (though with relapses every 2/4 mnths or so for a day or two). dd1 was the worst. Like you lack of sleep was driving me mad and I was also pregnant with dd2 and working full-time. Her worst night(s) were when she would settle fine but then from midnight it all started, and she would scream solidly until about 4am. In the end she seemed to get worse when I went in to her, but couldn't just leave her, so did the 5, 10, then 20 mins, with every 20 mins from midnight onwards. I remember it getting light outside and feeling dire but the thought of giving up after starting was worse, so perservered (hard because dh thought I was being cruel - not what you want to hear at 3am in the am . Anyway, to cut a (week)long story short, after a week she was sleeping 7 to 6 and hasn't had problems since. It is a really horrible process to go through - I started to dread the evenings and felt physically sick at the thought of going to bed. If you stick to it it WILL get better though (dramatically so) and if you're anything like me it will have come to such a point that you feel you're suffering with the waking anyway so you might as well give it a go. One word of warning though, you either have to do it 100% or not bother, though from what you say you seem committed! On dummy front, yes def stop giving in day if it's an issue at night - I think that would really help. Good luck xxx
SES, yes dds in work with me today (can only wfh for so many days, it being half term . Hard work, but I got what I needed to get done done, so ok!
Right, must get to bed!

maxxymoosmummy · 17/02/2010 08:49

morning everyone, headache has gone this morning, really dont think it could be the gas, as nothing seems to be leaking / smelling.
just having a day in today trying to sort out the flat, and all DSs clothes yet again. haha.
theres just too many. and DS is wanting alot more attentin than usual. thinking its because he knows im busy.

Diege · 17/02/2010 08:50

Morning! Hope everyone had reasonable nights! Ds slept fine, but I think I cursed myself with the sword of Miriam Stoppard after my cc post as dd3 started wailing mid-through the night, and though she settled easily couldn't get back to sleep myself...
Am taking dds 1&2 to the cinema today, with dd2's school friend. Could do without it tbh as need to push on with the marking, but wouldn't dare pull out now..
Hope everyone is ok! Back later x

Diege · 17/02/2010 08:51

Morning mmm, x-posts! Do you have one of those carbon monoxide monitors? (the paper sticker type thing you put by fire?). Not wanting to panic you at all, just trying to cover all options!

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 09:05

Morning,

MMM, It is worth getting the carbon monoxide checked. I think the fire service give out those carbon monoxide monitors.

Diege, have fun at the cinema. Sorry that DD3 woke up.

I am covered in glitter!! Just finished making Ruby's birthday card and DS1 managed to get the glitter off the bookcase and pour it on me.

Rugbylovingmum · 17/02/2010 09:47

Thanks Diege! Luckily DP is really supportive - he was the one to point out that even though 45 mins felt a long time, the night before she took 90 mins with us there settling her and she didn't sound any less upset. I am just so tired I need to try something, I'm basically up from 12 until 5 with just a few 10 min naps then she is up at 5.30, I can't keep that up and I was struggling to do anything with her during the day. I wouldn't mind if she needed to feed but I'm just up every 10 mins replacing the dummy. Anyway last night it took until 9pm to settle her but she slept until 3am . She had a feed then and it only took me 10min to settle her. She woke again at 5.30am which her usual time to get up but I gave her a quick feed and popped her back in the cot and she slept until 8.30 ! It's probably a one off but I'm def going to stick with the cc. Enjoy the cinema and good luck with the marking!

Tink - enjoy the peace!

Kay - lol at glitter!

MMM - hope your headache is better.

Star - sorry you are all feeling ill .

Ses - enjoy shopping for some new work clothes. LOL at Megan chewing through cable, sorry it's not funny really but can't help giggling.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 17/02/2010 10:13

Rugby- I agree that 45mins is 'normal' i always found mine took about 3-5 days to go to sleep without crying... DD2 is proving different though. She went off to sleep fine as usual last night, which she always has- never been a problem putting her to bed, she woke at about 3am, cried/wailed for about 10mins before going back off till 8am!!

Kayz- glitter sounds fun!!... card for my Ruby? feel bad for not sending one for your DS's now!!

Diege- decorating sounds lots of fun!! Once we've sorted the dining room floor we'll be onto plastering and decorating which will be fun!! I know what paper and paint i want- had an afternoon in B&Q a few weeks back and found exactly what i wanted!!

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 10:26

Yes it is for your Ruby. Don't feel bad about not sending on for DS's. D's is so close to Xmas anyway.

I've decided to be slightly more fashionable as being fat is no excuse for being a frump!! So in teaching myself to walk in heels again. I just need a nice coat that is warm.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 17/02/2010 10:32

Kay- i used to feel like that... then since i started loosing weight last sept i've got my sense of fashion back!! Have got 2 nice coats, walk in heels again (occasionally) always make sure i'm looking half decent, even for the school run at 8.30am!! I feel tonnes better- however the weight hasn't changed since xmas... and i need a royal kick up the backside to get going again!! I'm also getting pickier about my body since loosing weight... and feeling a tad body conscious... think because i've lost some weight i'm getting picky on what i wanna change still!!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 17/02/2010 10:49

right i'm gonna go and get some slacks on and wash some pots... DC's are in their bedroom and Dd2 in her bouncer trying to get herself to sleep!! May aswell make the most of it!!

essenceofSES · 17/02/2010 17:55

Quick post to check in!
Tv not working at all now. I'm sure it's good for me but I feel lost!

Rugby - glad your DP is supportive and fingers crossed for tonight for you.

I've got a day at work tomorrow for our monthly all day meeting so O is in nursery from 8.30-6
I'm being v sad and getting my work bag sorted with new stationery. I'm sure I'd love to own my own stationery shop

cantmummyhaveabreak · 18/02/2010 08:55

ses- i'm the same with stationary before my course- got post-it's, pens, highlighters, notepads etc.... then got there and didn't need any of it!!

Had a VERY good night from DD2- she woke up, wimpered for about 10secs then went straight off to sleep!!! WUHOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Think i'm gonna be super lazy and have a PJ day again... did intend to have one yesterday, but ended up getting dressed... Got to go out tomorrow rain or shine as need to get the party food for DD2's little party. So i think i'm due another day in!! It's wet and miserable anyway!!

tinksbabyis1 · 18/02/2010 09:00

morning

kay - heels sound good

can't - ye for sleep

hi to everyone else

staying in with girls today

enjoyed peace yest it was nice

Kayzr · 18/02/2010 09:04

Morning,

I have to go to the dentist today I have to have a filling. Bloody dentist.

I am hoping that Mum can have the boys on Saturday as we desperately need to sort out the cupboard under the stairs. We can't do it with them here as they just try to get in the cupboard.

Cant, have a nice PJ day.

Diege · 18/02/2010 09:36

Morning! Just a quickie as hairdresser due here any minute. Hopefully dds will look after ds and also hairdresser's baby dd
Know what you mean about shoes, clothes etc...I think it's easy to give up with LOs, but (at 39) it's become a battle for me as my worst nightmare would be to look 'mumsy'
Enjoy a PJ day CANT - agree, weather isn't exactly inspiring.
Good going on the sleep front RUGBY - how were things last night?
SES, ds will be fine at nursery, don't worry about length of day. ds is in 8 till 6 mons-wed, and tbh after a few weeks you get greedy and wish they'd open earlier (and at weekends ).
Hi TINKS, glad you had a good relax. Recent shop sounds great too
Good luck with dentists KAYZ - will soon be over x
Right, better get ds up for nap - back later x
